Blazing fast after the update - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

I got a quadrant score 2500+ for the first time after the update. I notice the IO was doubled, in quadrant advance before the update I would get 2000+ on the IO test, but now it gets 4000+. What did tmobile did on the update that it got the device IO scores doubled?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium

I have the same thing with my device as well. After testing it with Quadrant Advanced, my score is 2500+ and before this update it never reached 2000 at all.

It's not just speed... battery life has been improved as well.

just updated mine as well. It went from 2160 before the update to 2783 in quadrant and 4911 before to 5225 on AnTuTu. Now lets see how much the battery is improved

Yea I just got 2714 score on quadrant. Damn this update was very good for the device, this just proves that how fast a device is isn't just about the processor, its more of like a balance between the processor and the software. If the software is crap but the processor is the best one out there, it really doesn't help much. For instance look at the galaxy nexus, it has the hummingbird GPU not the latest exynos yet it is faster than the galaxy s 2!
So really if you think about it its not about the processor only is more about the software.

It depends.
ROMs based on the T-Mobile base won't be as fast until they incorporate what's changed in this ota update. Once they do, they'll likely end up being faster.

This is so true. I underclocked my phone to 768MHz to try out how it would work for a day. I ended up entirely forgetting I had done that until I ran a benchmark.
seeing all this is amazing, I am very tempted to try it out, but this beast is super fast with having to OC it, lol

I don't know if you're right or not but I just flashed the 1.5 kernel and at 1.4 this thing is as fast as a computer..I hope you're right because I don't wanna go back to 1ghz..
Got 2016 quadrant after a reboot which is 300 higher than I got at 1 gig..
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/specs
Right below the dual core, High performance Smart Phones section. MSM8655 is our processor, it comes @ 1.0ghz, plam pre3 has the same and it comes @ 1.4ghz. The chip can take it but I think it was lowered for battery concern. I notice a lot of speed just flying through different programs when OC to 1.5, it opens them much faster, could be the I/O tweaks as well though. As for PC, mine puts out 42 gflops compared to my phones 49 mflops, still a long way off, thats 0.001% of the processing power. This phone is no slouch, so I guess it speaks more for my computers power.
sweet....im just gonna run it at 1.4 and since i have the 2750 battery i'm not gonna worry about battery life at all. i love this phone right now..

The focus of many of the roms now are performance and smoothness. If your quadrant scores aren't that great, don't worry too much about it; as long as the phone works great. For screen grabber, try switching the file type to jpeg in settings

With trillian's monitor service backgrounded and nothing else running, I quad 1866
Phone runs smooth as butter, no issues whatsoever beyond the wifi calling bug that plagues Bali kernels.
With the stock kernel, I could only get 1300 or so OC'd to 1.44 (but i think the kernel capped at 1.3 anyways). Bali+ext4=/win
Nice Quad!

Temple run issues

Does anyone else have problems when playing temple run with it not being sensitive enough? I even turned my sensitivity all the way up and i feel like i have to tilt really far in order to get my guy to move from side to side :/
There are like 2 threads about this, check the general section, there is a thread about it. From what I've seen its a problem with cm7 and cm7 based ROMS or CM7 kernels like Faux's cm7 kernel and Trinity's cm7 kernel. It works perfectly on stock and on Cm9 WITH harsh's 3.0 kernel.

It could be rom issues. I recently flash Genesis ics and the sensor works fine when it wasn't b4. however, sometimes my swipe doesn't register

Definitely a kernel issue the stock kernel is the way to go kuz that's how the game is meant to be sensitive but trinity and faux make it not sensitive enough. For one, the "stock kernel" is going to be different depending on which ROM you use. And no one is going to choose which kernel they use over one game.

If you have the time to fake screen shots, you really need to get a life.
I'll post mine tomorrow. I was getting around 5200 in quadrant but it's went down to like 4800. I think it was when I went from using the 1.82 boot img to 1.88. I was also switching using the dualcoremod vs using sysctrl to change values so I'm not sure what actually caused the drop. I'm not really much on benchmarking though cause although my scores dropped, my phone seems to be running smoother and multitasking issues have been nonexistent.
