[Q] Torn Guts - HTC Inspire 4G

So, I tore this part of the motherboard.
Should I solder a connection back in there or am I screwed?

Try soldring it to c if it woorks else u need to buy a new motherboard flex cable n its not that expensive

I looked at it closer and that ribbon has about 50 small wires running the length of it, so there's no way I can solder it. The ribbon is wired into the blue PCB, and the whole assembly runs about $50. Not worth it for a phone I intended to use only for testing ROMs.

I also tore this piece on my motherboard during a digitizer replacement now no wifi,Bluetooth or volume buttons. I am going to replace it (30$ on eBay). Im hoping it solves my problem. I was also wondering should I reflash my rom after a dissasembly?

I can't speak to that part. I got this phone from a friend who shattered the screen, and I couldn't even flash a Rom because of the sorry state of the digitizer.

G2x disassembly video

Does anyone know of one? I got my digitizer replacement in just want to do some research before I crack mine open.

Last time I checked I couldnt find any but if there is one out there it would most likely be on Youtube.
Well just went and did it without ever doing a digitizer replacement before now my beautiful g2x is flawless even fixed my backlight bleed 100% somehow.

Why didn't you make a video?
No video camera and the video would've been 3 hours long

LOL.....were you sweating bricks until you saw it boot back up?
Yes I was a little worried but i was REALLY careful to not tear ribbon cables or soldered wires while taking it apart and man the glue that holds the digitizer down is ridiculously strong!

Did u heat it with a heating gun? That helps a lot. A hair dryer works too but takes a little longer.

+1. That's funny as hell.
Where did you buy the digitizer? I need to buy and LCD and the Digitizer but im not sure the build quality will be good.

If its the same one I saw from gadget fix on ebay its for $349 that way too much. I found the digitizer for the p990 but im not sure if it works. I know the LCD work because ive read a few ppl doing it but i havent been abe to find anyone yet saying that the digitizer works too. They should because it the same phone but i want to make sure before I do it. My biggest issue is that im stuck, I dont know if i should just wait another week and get the sensation or fix the g2x.

full housing

anyone no where i can pick up a full housing replacement for p920? it had a cracked digitizer which replaced but the housing is slightly damaged and wouldn't mind sorting that out as well
Tried ebay??

My journey to a 100% working Sensation...

Just wanted to share a little love story about my 3 Sensations:
Back in July I got my first Sensation off eBay. Turns out it had a blocked IMEI. Happily, the seller refunded my money and paid for return shipping.
Second one, I got off Craigslist for $200. He said it had been fully functional, and when we met up I remembered to try everything EXCEPT for wifi. Turns out, it wasn't working.
After trying the software fixes, I tried the solder reflow fix with a heat gun and aluminum shield. It worked! But in the process I roasted my FFC. No bother, wifi was more important.
But only a few weeks later, the mic cut out on a work call and never came back. Upon opening her up again, I found the FPC connector for the microphone cable had come apart. Instead of ordering one from China for $10 shipped, I decided to just try and find a broken Sensation that I could salvage the motherboard from. If that failed, at least I had an FFC and 3 identical FPC connectors to try soldering in place of my broken one.
Well, I got one delivered from eBay yesterday, with a totally smashed screen (no output) for $35. I swapped the whole motherboard into my old chassis and crossed my fingers. I had on my hands a perfectly good motherboard, wifi chip, FFC, and clear IMEI. Success!
I then unlocked and loaded up frankinstine's AOKP port and it feels every bit as responsive as that Galaxy S3 I almost sprung for over the weekend.
tl;dr: Android/Sensation/xda/DIY/no contracts FTW.
In before cool story, bro.
Also, in before pics or it didn't happen.
Sound very determined to have sensation for cheap lol

Indeed! You gotta admit, after modification, nothing has beaten it on T-Mo, until the N4.
You can easy change imei on sensation if you are revolutionary bootloader. Its just a simple command

And one that is not to be discussed on XDA as it is illegal in most countries
I know, i won't tell how or anything. But i just say its easy on sensation.

I know I just didn't want to go there. It's one thing to tether without permission but that could get me thrown off of the network for good.

That black spot grows when the phone gets hot. All other functions are normal.

Repair your phone as soon as possible because this spot is due to overheating and if you are using OC then use without it otherwise the only solution is to go Repair Shop
No i am not using it overclocked. I left it tethering and came back and found that. I dnt have an htc repair shop where i am and i dont trust these other repair guys. So i wanna knoe if its the lcd or what that is broken.

Well, your LCD is definitely breaking, its spreading out when hot because the heat makes the liquid more thin I believe. If you are sure all other functions are normal and that you are not getting any forced overheat reboots or the digitizer is fully functional then I would at minimum replace the LCD, if possible replace the LCD + digitizer as a whole unit as its easier to fit

No! That's a very dangerous thing to do! It won't help the screen and moisture will build up on your mother board and kill your phone!
