Does anyone know if the Droid Incredible 2 will have a locked bootloader? Im thinking of getting one, but definitely would want to be able to root it eventually. I would hate to get a phone and be stuck with the same ROM. Thanks.
Eh...

Someone will find a way. They always do
I have a guy @ work who has a Droid X (.621) w/ 2.3.4 and his one menu button is f'ed up... I can use an app called Softkeys to get him softkeys which will disable the button and return usability to the phone, but so far everything I'm reading says "No Go" on this process... Any help/suggestions?? He wants to limp the phone over till December 20th when his upgrade is in full swing to get the new Razr... Just tryin to help if possible!
My Droid 2 is also on .621, and since they Droid 2 and X were VERY similar phones, I'm going to guess their firmware updates are the same updates (since they're both by Motorola).
Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the .621 update is completely unrootable

I rooted the Droid 2 Global with little trouble, so maybe the X won't be too bad

to use softkeys you need to be rooted. follow the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823112 to root your phone if its on the .621 update. it might look daunting but it is really quite simple.
Holy crap time to root my droid 2, that post says people have reported it working on the D2

Hey guys, so I jumped on the Galaxy S4 bandwagon. But I have a spare atrix 2 that I can't get to boot or anything. It isn't hard bricked at least not that I did, one day it just decided it wasn't going to boot anymore. The screen is in excellent condition, I'm not sure what happened to make it not want to boot, but I have tried charging it and I can't tell if it'
s doing anything or not. So if anyone wants it let know.

Hey sorry if I'm doing this wrong I'm not much of a forum dweller..
I just purchased an nVidia Shield, it has already been upgraded (or downgraded) to 4.4.2. It is not rooted. I really like it so far however I am trying to get Six Guns working, currently with vanilla Play Store it is not available for this device.
I got it working just fine on my rooted Galaxy S3, as well as Battlefield Commander, using the guidance of the XDA thread, market helper and xposed.
I've been searching high and low and all I can find are directions for rooted devices. I am on an extended vacation (will be here for another 3 months) so rooting is not an option unless it can be done without a PC.
I am also not a fan of cracked/blackmarket .apk's. Would anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction?
Again I apologize if I've missed a thread explaining this, not easy when I don't have a PC in front of me. Cheers!

Shield can be rooted with an apk. Just download and run it.

Yaa? Well that's superb, thank you,, I'm used to doing everything the manual way, are you certain it will work? Has anyone else given it a go?
I used it on my att Galaxy Note 3 and it worked so I tried it on my shield. It takes longer than the 15 secs it says to wait so after pushing the button in the app just let it sit until it reboots. After reboot install the SuperSU in from my thread then run it to update the binaries. You shouldn't have a problem. I was also able to unroot my note 3 easily from within the SuperSU app. Also this method doesn't wipe your data so that's a big plus for me. I've been wanting to root but didn't want to wipe my data.

Awesome I'll definitely give it a try, just sort of waiting for one more person to share their experience with this method.
I was never worried about brick'ing in my s3 as I can easily get that sorted. The Shield is one of those niche products though, I'm not even sure how I could recover it if something went wrong.
Out of curiosity did you update to 4.4.2 or did you stick with 4.3?
Thanks again you've been a great help! E>

I'm on 4.4.2. If your worried about bricking I would start looking at and getting familiar with the restore process just in case, but it pretty straight forward. Go to the ATT Note 3 forum. They've been using this apk to root so you can see if there has been any ill effect of using it. Glad I could help.

Hey guys, I'm farley new here but I have been frequenting the site for some odd years. I don't know much about the one click roots, but I don't have a computer to do it that way right now.
So I'm asking for help to do so. What I'm looking to do in the root is just be able to use the wifi hotspot whenever without the ridiculous sprint charge, which is some odd 35$ a month or so.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys
Bump.
Somebody want to be helpful? I've searched the threads and can't find what I want to do. I'm currently running marshmallow on my sprint galaxy s5 gm-900p I believe. I just, wanna be able to use the wifi hotspot without springs insane charges!!!
