What's your highest free RAM? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Just wanted to start a friendly little RAM competition...
Here's mine on Scott's 11-04 build. This is the highest I've ever seen.

Sure. I'm a tweak-aholic. I've installed the 4.2 GAPPS, as well as the new Nexus 4 camera. Then, I used the Pimp My Rom Aroma installer, and used Zeppelinrox's V6 supercharger, and Kick Ass Kernelizer.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021
Also, since I'm running Scott's JB Rom, I had to use this in combination with the V6 Supercharger for full effect:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869663
This basically installs a modified Services.jar, so the Supercharger can install additional OOM groupings and fix priorities.
For the V6 supercharger settings, I used Selected the aggressive setting (#7) as well as enabling miscellaneous tweaks, and installed the nitro lag nullifier (#22).
For the Kick Ass Kernelizer, I used the Kick Ass setting, without the I/O scheduler tweaks.
Also, In the settings -> performance -> memory management menu, I had zram set to 35%, along with Kernel Samepage Merging, and allow purging of assets selected.
So yeah.
Connor Baker
P.S I can't remember the settings I chose for Pimp My Rom, but I know I didn't select any OOM settings, or zRam settings, as they are already included in the Performance sub-menu.
P.P.S Also, my Antutu score I just got is below.

lol... that's more free ram than a stock galaxy s has in total available to the user... the rest of its "512 meg" was alloted to video/graphics (128meg) and the rest was used by ram disks the system used. the infuse actually has 640megs of ram if you go by the galaxy s advertising meathod but it's probably the galaxy that should be considered wrong. only 384 can be accessed for non video/graphics processes and a bunch of that is used by the ramdisk.

Sure... I guess not. Warning however, Your Mileage May Vary!!!
Also, I installed Pimp My ROM right after flashing Scott's latest, then GAPPS, then Nexus 4 Camera. For some weird reason however, if I were to install P.M.R after booting for the first time, I would have weird issues (phone constantly vibrating, clicking power button hot-rebooted phone, etc.)

Those free RAM amounts are impressive OP. I'm gonna have to give some of your suggestions a try.
My biggest gripe with most JB ROMs for our phone has been the lack of RAM. What's the point of JB and Project Butter if you've only got 90MB of free RAM after a fresh install? In my experience, there was no point.

##UDATED 10MAR12## [TWEAK] Lightning Zap

READ ENTIRE OP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took ASXIX, ASv15, added parts from Thunderbolt and a few tweaks from a Cappy ROM (Fasty III), edited a few things here and there, combined them together and flashed them. I got INSANE battery life, super fast performance, shorter boot times, smooth transitions, faster sdcard read/write speed, and higher quad scores (I know most people say those don't matter, but it does account for something).
DO NOT USE THIS WITH RAVERX3X'S OCTANE 3.0
ONLY USE v5 Upgrade if you are currently using any other version of Lightning Zap
Made 3 version
v5 for all ROMs
v5 Upgrade if you are currently on an older version of Lightning Zap
v5 MIUI is for MIUI ONLY
v5
Now adjusts filesystem with tune2fs (still ext4fs) to disable journaling, improve responsiveness, smoothness, and overall performance
Contains newest build.prop tweaks from dsexton702
Now uses Aroma installer by FBis251
Removed duplicate scripts
Added newest FUGU (Actually did that on v3, but failed to mention it)
Reformatted governor tweak a bit (easier to follow instructions to change values)
Decided NOT to add the journaling script and data2ext... for now
Quads hit 2432 on first run and averaged 2696 out of 3 runs, Not OC'd
v5 takes quite a while to install (about 20 to 30 minutes...maybe longer). If you experience FC's, fix permissions and reboot. As we all know, or should know, backups don't always like to play right when restored.
On v5 quads are hitting 3100+ average...
Must be rooted, on Gingerbread build that supports init.d, and have a kernel with voodoo. this has been tested on SG4G and Captivate but it may work on other devices (if you have flashing issues push manually or PM me for help)
DISCLAIMER
I am not responsible for any damage this may cause to your device.
Don't forget to make a backup! Just in case...
INSTRUCTIONS
Download zip and place on sdcard, reboot to recovery, install zip, follow prompts in Aroma installer (No options to change in custom install so use Quick Install), reboot phone, let sit for at least 10 minutes, REBOOT, enjoy!
This can be flashed directly over older versions of Lightning Zap.
Want to get more out of Lightning Zap?
Refer here:
More Tweaking
If you are not getting the battery life/performance others are getting, refer here:
Gremlin Remover
To see what tune2fs does (and verify journaling is disabled) type:
Code:
tune2fs -l /dev/block/stl9
tune2fs -l /dev/block/stl10
tune2fs -l /dev/block/stl11
For an example of results refer to this post:

OC'd. The original score was 1301. Mind you, for battery life purposes, the tweak I added LIGHTLY overclocks the phone. If you want to increase the oc, use tegrak overclock (preferably paid so changes will stay after boot). I just tried the free version, and it shot my quad score to 2604.
Well, the tweaks definately work... I ran stock on aosp kj1 kernel and scored 1718.
Then installed and ran again, scored 1943 stock. Then Installed new kj6 kernel and ran again and scored 2149 stock no oc. Rebooted phone a couple of times and played around with some programs to let sink in. Now I ran quadrant again stock and got my highest score yet for a stock rom 2408.. added image

The S77-sdcard-speedfix raises the read ahead from 3072 to 4096. I tried running it without it (just raised the threshold in 02speedcardfix) and the performance was good (17.28 mb/s), but I got much higher readings (22.13 mb/s) when I changed the 02sdcardspeedfix back to 3072 and added the S77-sdcard-speedfix back into it. (These numbers are referenced from DeviceMark app).

You are welcome and thank you. But keep in mind, I got these tweaks from dsexton702 and LOSTLOGIC89, made a few minor adjustments, and just combined them together. But the really great thing about it, the more you play with your phone and the more they soak in, the better things get.
I've modified as myself with different tweaks and noticed the ones I, modified happen to be the ones you didn't and I get the same quad either way... I'm thinking if I add mine to yours there may be a little boost. I'll have to try it out tonight. it pertains to system_server, app_process and the sqlite libraries

I would say yes as most of these tweaks have been used on many other devices and incorporated into various ROMs. But don't hold me to it. All I can say is make a backup, flash, and see. Report back to me with your findings please?

[Kernel] ardatdat kernel v1.8.3 [CWM] (2012-07-22) ** NEW RELEASE **

Dear all,
The v1.8.3 kernel is ready!
Special thanks to Adi_Pat for the ram hack coding!
So, if you are worry that this kernel will brick your machine or not stable, you are suggested not to flash this kernel. And if you have flashed it, you can always go back to previous kernel.
v1.8.2 is a private beta, in order to avoid confusion, I mark up the public release version to v1.8.3.
The major updates are listed below:
v1.8.3 (based on newest ZSLE6 kernel source)
==================================
- Support for all ROMs (including ZSKK5, ZSLE6, etc...)
- Available RAM increases to 853MB (increased by 129MB when comparing with stock)
- This kernel can support OC to 1320Mhz. By default, it is not OC, you need to OC using software like SetCPU
- Touch panel revert back to 5 points multi-touch as it is more stable
- Support EFS auto backup! EFS is auto backup to /data/.ardatdat/
- TCP/IP & SD Card tweaks are applied
- All features of v1.8.1 are kept, including Voodoo sound enhancements, auto-brightness control and etc
Please kindly download the kernel below and flash through CWM recovery:

v1.8.1 could be found there:

Finally, flash at your own risk! Please feed back how you feel and don't hesitate to give me a 'thank' & donations if the kernel works great for you
Best Regards,

Yes RAM gets allocated according to the kernel version you flash. So if 1.8.1 did not have RAM hack GPU would get the default allocation and you'll get 724MB free RAM.
After flashing 1.8.1 check the Task Man what you see there is what you get.
Hope this helps.

Set the user agent of your mobile's browser as 'Desktop' then you can download data from mediafire.
Here's how to do it:
Change stock browser's user agent:
Type 'about:useragent' in the stock browser to select 'Desktop' from a list of user agents available.

Battery Life, yes it may be terrible as its only beta version. Its not because of OC. Its because i have not included all the tweaks needed for battery life. Still its in testing stage. Reason for including OC and having only 1.2 ghz is to test whether its preventing the game lag. Generally when i OC with limits and intermediate ranges as 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, mostly the mobile clock in 1.1 ghz and very rarely going to 1.2 ghz. So i skipped 1.1 and included only 1.2 ghz.. Just a testing.
Will you add BFQ scheduler at a later stage? I have good experience with that and have been using it since I moved permanently to CM.

Let's try again : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950052 - it's a "fixed" kernel by codeworkx for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, my other device, which also had serious lags and freezes in ICS as our Galaxy R. Hope there is magic you can add from that to your kernel.
Ok now..included intermediate freq of 1100 and then the BFQ scheduler as suggested by Adam. Getting few compiler errors for BFQ. Will check it tomorrow.
And finally setup the environment for AOSP build. As Ubuntu 12.04 was not supporting all the branches to do AOSP build (though its gud for kernels), now setup a diff environment using 10.04. Will Start init/sync tomorrow.
Nice work buddy! You can spare a lot of upload bandwidth by adding a '.gitignore' file. It tells git to ignore the specified files so they will not be pushed. Get one (specified for kernels) here: https://github.com/Adam77Root/android_kernel_samsung_i9103/blob/jellybean/.gitignore

Testers needed for CM10 kernel
Friends,
Need some testers for a new CM10 kernel. I have not even tried it as im doing some testing with ICS kernel in my device. So those who are about to test, have a back-up and then test this kernel. No special features added yet. Just wanna check whether its boots-up in cm10.

CM10 small tweaks and RAM. Post your setups!

Hello!
Are you on cm10 or any cm10 based ROMs? Is your phone rather fast? I am on Jellybam v 4.1 and i've used it for some days now. (it's the longer I ever stayed with it) and I am planning to use it as my daily driver but after installing a few apps and so the phone gets very slow.
What performance improvents and configs that works are you guys using and does it speed it up? Maybe I am the only one feeling this though  .
This can also be a thread with tweaks, improvements, benchmark posts etc.
Also, how can I increase my RAM with Swap? I know how to partition but not how to activate it.
Btw I can not flash another kernel as I am on wkparks v25a and if I do that I will end up in a recovery loop!
Thank You!
Well I myself am using the lagfix app from the play store on the latest cm 10 nightly. The app works and it's not placebo. The speed increase is most noticable in launching apps.
If anyone else tested the app please share your experience.

Here's a few of my settings:
On performance settings I changed CPU governor to hotplug, then I/O scheduler to CFQ then zRam to 26% and finally enabled kernel samepage merging.
All this on performance settings from CM10 I also can't flash other kernels because I'm using bernis dual-boot... anyway seems better on performance no freezes only battery drains a bit faster but I guess that's a cm problem.

Well there is the problem with the fps locking at a point on cm10 based ROMs. Iblueminds 4.2 doesnt have that so I am going to flash that tonight

Guys if you want to flash another kernel or ROM on wkparks 1.25a you have to
1. Downgrade to a u-boot lower than 1.24 with fastboot
2. Go into recovery and flash your ROM/kernel
3. Flah the 1.25a with fastboot and it should boot up fine.
This way you won't end up in recovery loop
:good:

I use the same settings. As well i use the Bluekernel II from iBluemind and i downclocked the maximum frequency to 800mhz and the minimun to 196mhz for a better battery life. It's enough for my daily use without any lags and freezes, but i don't play games on the phone

This is the best combination I think so far:
Odex system and framework. Create a 64mb swapfile on either the system or data partition and set swappiness to 85. This makes all my cm10 and cm10.1 roms smooth and fast. On stock cm kernel too.

| SCRIPT | Blazing Thunder[Jb/Ics/Gb] [ More Speed|| Much Less Lag]

I noticed that there are a lot of great tweaks out there for android phones, but most users cant find them because they're distributed all over XDA. So here i am, with a collection of those tweaks, in an All in one flashable zip. Merged some, modified some, add a lot. Its pretty much a universal tweak, it will work on every device.
And if your going to add this to your ROm, please let me know and add me to the credits!
How to's-
Install:
1. Boot into CWM
2. Wipe dalvik cache
3. Flash zip
4. Reboot
Do note that the ROM will take time to boot up, so don't go on doing something crazy like removing the battery.

-Cleaned up
-MUCH better Ram usage
-Cache Cleared at every boot

-Logger removed
-Better browser performance
-Sysctl tweaks

Supports all roms gb/ics/jb with init.d support, you can read this in op.
Another "great" script which collected all kind of tweaks found somewhere in the web...

All custom kernels have init.d. For stock kernels you can use pimp my rom, is the easiest way. Then you will have a folder called init.d in system/etc
