lately i bought a new samsung note II to replace my spoiled LG 2X mobile phone.
i had backup all system data and app from my 2X to the sd card using titanium backup.
i installed titanium backup app to the new note II phone and tried to restore contacts , SMS , and call log to the new hand phone.
after restored and restarted, the following error kept appearing on the hand phone.
android.process.acore
message stopped
obviouly can't get into the phone interface, contacts, or message screen from my note II...
tried to restore "data only" or "data+app" in TB ... both wouldn't work as well.
tried to enable "migration data " in the TB and it was still same after restore.
have anyone encountered same problem before? i tried to google as well as searched this forum but couldn't find any solution so far.
any suggestion are much appreciated.
You can't use system data from another phone unless it's the exact same phone on the exact same Rom. You're going to have to restore the phone to stock and then only restore your apps and contacts.

i understand. can't TB restore data for 2 different model of phones? i only restored the data (contacts, sms, call log) only which were indicated green in TB.
You said you backed up your system data too, which you don't need and can't use on a different model of phone. Just make sure you don't restore that this time.

I've flashed a couple of custom ROMs on my HTC Desire the last couple of days looking for one I was really happy with.
I first tried defrost 2.1
then opendesire 1.0
and then went back to defrost but installed 2.3 which came out yesterday.
On both defrost 2.1 and opendesire I used SMS backup to return all my text messages and it worked fine. Now when I use it I lose the last month + of messages. They are all gone.
Ive tried restoring it a number of times, turning my phone on and off again. Nothing gets them back. I have followed the instructions on the SMS backup site:
http://android.riteshsahu.com/misc/faqs-about-sms-backup-restore
but they didn't help. Anyone have any experience with this?
I use SMS Backup all the time and haven't had this issue. Are you sure you are restoring the most recent backup of the SMS' you originally saved?
SMS Backup creates files on your SD Card for all the SMS messages. You possibly could be restoring the wrong batch.
SMS Backup & Restore not recognizing the backup files
SMS Backup and Restore is not recognizing its own backup files. In its own backup directory its saying no backup files found but the files are there.
Hello there
I got some serious issues on the S6 with the backup of my messages from Whatsapp.
Normally i use Helium to backup all my apps+data. Nowadays since Whatsapp has been part of Facebook this aint possible anymore.
So i went the regular way, the backup messages and then copy the whatsapp/database to the new phone after installing whatsapp (Whatsapp is ofcourse already installed on the S6)
It asks me to restore, i press yay!!!! All of the sudden it says it was unable to restore the messages.
I tried many ways, emailing, through pc etc etc with the file to my new phone.
I dont know if the file has been damaged through transfer, but normally you need to use your Sd card. Wich the S6 does not have!
Ok so i went to my girlfriend her phone and copied her backup to the S6 and tried aswell. Also doesnt work.
Anyone here with the same issue and a fix?
I really want my messages back restored but it seems impossible.
Please help! I will thank you gratefully with a Thankyou!

Have you tried copying the entire folder over?
Yes i have. Took me a while since there was 2gigs on media.
But it still says that it was unable. Somehow the file is corrupt probaly everytime.
I have copied my entire WhatsApp folder over 3 times and it's worked fine every time on my G920F. First I did it from my Galaxy S4 onto the S6, and the other 2 times were from wiping the S6 clean and starting fresh. No issues, it restores just fine.
Hello,
I am trying to figure out a way to restore a backup I have under my Google Drive "Backups" section. Specifically, it's an SMS backup I took and forgot to use the restore option during the initial setup of my phone. I do not want to factory reset my phone as I've done a lot of modifications to it such as flashing, rooting, etc. I tried an app called SMS Backup and Restore but that didn't work as I'm assuming it's only for new backups you take using their app.
If you know of a way I can retrieve the SMS messages from my Google Drive backup without having to do a factory reset, that would be great.
Thanks!
So this is quite a hard question before trying it myself.
I would like to move from phone but don`t want the hassel of reinstalling all apps ect, I have currently rooted my device and plan on rooting my next one.
My question: Can I backup phone 1 then restore the backup on phone 2? (not same model)
And will all settings and configs like whatsapp ect be the same?

Use Google to backup your photos, videos and contacts.
Try helium for your apps and app data.
Use something like SMS backup to backup text messages there is also a way to backup and restore text messages via Google.
But, you will only be able to backup and restore user data and data partition, you will not be able to do this with any of your system apps or system app data or system data or system settings, these will not restore and work properly on the new device.

I backed up my s22 today to google drive and smartswitch on my pc before factory resetting it. Everything was also backed up to my samsung cloud. I went to smartswitch and did a restore and it said it was successful but I don't have any of my text messages back and although it downloaded the app install files it didn't actually install anything. I'm not too concerned about the apps as I can do those manually but I really need my texts back. Any ideas? I have a backup on SMS Backup and Restore but want to see if I can figure this out before I go through that slow process. Thanks!

Text messages have to be backed up via a separate process such as the SMS backup/restore that you used. If you want your texts backed up and restored, that is the process you need to use.
Long story short, restore your backup from the SMS Backup/Restore app that you already have. This is the generalized/generic way of backing up and restoring text messages. As far as I know, there isn't a simpler/more user friendly method of doing this other than using tools&apps similar to SMS Backup/Restore.
