Hello,
I am trying to figure out a way to restore a backup I have under my Google Drive "Backups" section. Specifically, it's an SMS backup I took and forgot to use the restore option during the initial setup of my phone. I do not want to factory reset my phone as I've done a lot of modifications to it such as flashing, rooting, etc. I tried an app called SMS Backup and Restore but that didn't work as I'm assuming it's only for new backups you take using their app.
If you know of a way I can retrieve the SMS messages from my Google Drive backup without having to do a factory reset, that would be great.
Thanks!

Hello Everyone,
I have a question about Titanium Backup. I run backups for all my apps (without data) and when I run a factory reset I have to reinstall everything. I understand this because that erases everything including Titanium Backup from my phone. My question is am I doing something wrong and is there a way to recover your apps with Titanium Backup after a Restore or Reset of your phone? Because once I reinstall TB after a reset none of my backups are there obv. But I have to go and re download everything from the market which is a pain in my behind Frankly. So in closing either TB should have some sort of cloud storage for there users where their apps are being backed up to OR they have something like this already and I am blind. I have looked several places but everywhere I go and it says this is possible they are just showing restoring apps with TB after a new rom is flashed...Not completely reset.
Thanks for any help that can be provided!!

I had the same question when I first started using TB. yes you do lose it when you factory reset, but go into the market and redownload it and the pro key if you have paid for it. and you can batch restore your apps an Data. I do it alot cause I'm always testing ROMS. Btw get the full version it has some nice features like batch install without having to click install for every app. makes restoring a breeze

The backups are stored on your SD card. As long as you aren't wiping that, they should still be there in the Titanium Backup folder.
TB does have Dropbox sync, at least in the pro version. Don't know why a factory rest would delete your backups though, does it also delete photos, etc?
Well all backups from TB are on the sd hence u need not worry !
Also just install TB from market and u will notice all of ur backups are ready to be restored !
consider shifting the TB app to the System intead of Data hence it can survive a factory reset !!
i have installed the all in the system !!
Thanks everyone for your replies, I just upgraded to the Pro Version. Thanks for all the help, yea I do the same thing I am always reflashing different roms to try out and I use Odin to go back to factory a lot too. So thats why I brought the question up. Thanks again!
This is my first android phone and I don't have much clue. I'm on stock and non-rooted. I would like to do a factory reset, which mean I have to backup right ? How do I backup the contacts, sms, whatsapp messages, and app and restore back to what it is like before ?
Thank you.
If you're going to reset, Your Complete data will be gone including your Storage..
in This Case you Have make a backup of your data.
Copy your data from moto storage to ur PC that's the way!
If You want to backup you App data then Try helium data backup app. (google it).
So I have a couple of whatsapp backups made in titanium backup.
The first one, the older one it was made before I reset my phone and wiped the whole system.
The second backup, was made after I installed the whatsapp application on the newly installed OS, you know how when you reactivate your whatsapp account you got all the messages that has been sent to your number from multiple contacts at once. These messages are a lot and from many contacts so I also backed them up.
The dilemma that I'm facing now, is that when I restore the first app data I lose the new backup and when I restore the second app data files I lose the chats and history from the first backup.
So is there any way to merge both backups and restore them at once.
Note, that when I added the files of the app data from both backups in the titanium backup folder and performed a restore, the application restored the recent backup and neglected the first.
So this is quite a hard question before trying it myself.
I would like to move from phone but don`t want the hassel of reinstalling all apps ect, I have currently rooted my device and plan on rooting my next one.
My question: Can I backup phone 1 then restore the backup on phone 2? (not same model)
And will all settings and configs like whatsapp ect be the same?

Use Google to backup your photos, videos and contacts.
Try helium for your apps and app data.
Use something like SMS backup to backup text messages there is also a way to backup and restore text messages via Google.
But, you will only be able to backup and restore user data and data partition, you will not be able to do this with any of your system apps or system app data or system data or system settings, these will not restore and work properly on the new device.

I backed up my s22 today to google drive and smartswitch on my pc before factory resetting it. Everything was also backed up to my samsung cloud. I went to smartswitch and did a restore and it said it was successful but I don't have any of my text messages back and although it downloaded the app install files it didn't actually install anything. I'm not too concerned about the apps as I can do those manually but I really need my texts back. Any ideas? I have a backup on SMS Backup and Restore but want to see if I can figure this out before I go through that slow process. Thanks!

Text messages have to be backed up via a separate process such as the SMS backup/restore that you used. If you want your texts backed up and restored, that is the process you need to use.
Long story short, restore your backup from the SMS Backup/Restore app that you already have. This is the generalized/generic way of backing up and restoring text messages. As far as I know, there isn't a simpler/more user friendly method of doing this other than using tools&apps similar to SMS Backup/Restore.
