I recently bought a galaxy tab 7.7 and i noticed something about it's physical keys.
The power and volume buttons requires a considerable pressure to push..it is working normally but sometimes bothers me.
I don't want to immediately send it for repair so i want to confirm if you have the same issue too..
The keys on galaxy tab 7 plus of my friend responds normally with slight push
Thanks in advance.
I had the same problem too, maybe it's a fitting /contact issue during assembly. My vol down/minus is ultra unresponsive and that is a big problem when I attempt to go to the download mode but the tablet simply doesn't register it.

thank you for the reply..i thought i am the only one having this issue
how about your volume up/power buttons? do they register at minimum pressure or do you have to push harder?
i was wondering if all tab 7.7 have difficult to press buttons.

The power and vol + seem fine and responsive when pressed(doesn't really need apply alot of force), the same kind of responsiveness I would expect to get from my xperia arc s.

So everything was working fine but my volume button seemed to be sticking. So I reset the device hoping it might help, but now it will not turn on at all.
Called ASUS they bumped me up the command chain and I am waiting for a callback.
This sucks.
sometimes it will get stuck in odd modes, try holding the power button for a while (15~20 seconds), then try and start the tab again and make sure it isn't plugged in to your PC.

Indeed, it goes into a mode that allows connection with nvflash

It was the volume up button that was stuck and my guess still is. The buttons felt weird right out of the box too. Have others been having this issue.
haven't seen any, try and pressing the volume button so it evens out and then booting?
Did as much as I could do with volume no help, if the nvflash mode was on would the screen turn on at all? My device just looks totally dead.
that's indeed what it does with volume up + power on, screen stays dead.
If you enter NVFlash mode, the display does not start up, but if you connect to your PC via USB, you should see an "APX" USB device.
Unfortunately this doesn't help much as there is nothing you can do with it in this mode.
Well I fixed it, would not have done so without your help. I sorta pried open the plastic that wraps around the edge of the device (the bezel its called I guess) with a small screw driver and fiddled around with the volume buttons until the unstuck.

Good to here. Further evidence that they rushed these a bit. Oh well.
Yeah the gray plastic piece that goes around the edge of the device feels very cheep. It does not stay attached very well which is how I think the volume button got stuck.

Grey plastic piece around the edge? Do you mean the plastic back cover? Cos round the edge of my eee pad its all metal. If its plastic it sounds like you don't have a final retail model.

I held the power button for about 10 seconds, no success
Let it sit for a few min, then tried it again, then it worked
I may have pressed the power button differently , can remember, like towards the edge
I also may have wiggle the buttons around, not sure, i was freaking out and tried every button combo lol

Now that I look at it it does feel like metal, but its very thin and almost feels like plastic.
Something must have happened during shipping becasue the volume buttons work better now then they did when I first unboxed it
Asus Reset
Try Holding down the Power Button and the Down Volume Button, Everything else seemed to do nothing
Woke up this morning and it appears my TF had entered this "OFF" state. I held the power button for about 10 seconds and it rebooted. I had the lock screen and the wifi notifications turned off so that doesn't seem to be a solution.I Hope this is something that Asus can fix with an update as I bought this from Newegg and I can't return it for a refund...

Uh oh, don't say that around here, some people don't want to know the ugly truth about how a tablet like this sells for $400
I have had my Sensation a while now and generally pleased, we all know that Sense 3 is a bit laggy especially if you want a live wallpaper.
Over the last few days though I have noticed an issue with the power button when pressing to wake the phone up it doesn't always work first time, pressing a second time usually works but sometimes needs 3 presses.
I thought it was software rather than hardware as I have noticed the capacitive buttons at the bottom lighting up for a split second when pressing the power button but the screen doesn't come on.
What is wierd though is that pressing the power button to go into standby always works without fail...
A factory reset today has not fixed the problem.
Anyone else heard or experienced this? before I contact HTC.
I really don't wanna be without a phone if they want it back for repair..
same problem bud, not sure what it is. very annoying.

Hey all! Just something bothering me for a bit but I just wanted someone or preferably a few people to check and confirm something that may be a problem with my Note. Is the power button raised lower than the volume buttons? I say this because the volume buttons extrude out further and are more rigid than the power button on my note. To be honest this does make pressing the power button easier, but once again, just checking. This doesn't affect the Note in anyway, just something on my mind. Thanks for any replies!

That's how mine is too.. power button is half the height I'd say.
They are all like that. Obviously part of the design to make it easier to find the volume button, and harder to hit the power button by mistake.

I had a nexus 7 before I sold it for Nexus 10. I then returned the Nexus 10 for the Note 10.1 because its more suited for my use. I noticed all 3 of them have volume button right below power. I cant tell you how many times I have hit the power button instead of volume. And vice versa, it annoys me. Why did they place it like that? Does it annoy anyone else or justme?

I know what you mean!
When I hold the 10.1, my fingers are too far from those buttons, either in landscape or portrait mode... It's not comfortable at all.
It's not the same problem as yours. Yours is same problem for all Galaxy phones -tablets: the power button is a shame compared to, I. e., a Xperia.
For the 10.1 it's not so bad 'cause we don't put it in our pockets, haha... Samsung placed them at that place to use the same side of all other hardware ports, I suppose.

Glad I'm not the only one!
Volume locker is a great app that kinda help you with the problem of accidently hitting the volume buttons and changing the volume. For the power button, I suggest you to put a widget or shortcut that (the same goes with volume) so you won't have to push those buttons at all when the tablet is running.

I hate where the usb port is located, also hate the lack of otterbox
Hey guys, yesterday when I pulled my phone out of my pocket, I noticed the power button wasn't working. Upon closer inspection, it is jammed and will only register a press if I really push on it hard. Then I realized the volume buttons were the same exact way, which is strange because the phone has been in a case its entire life and is immaculate. But anyways, has anyone else encountered this? I tried doing a search but no results. The power button works if I really put pressure on it and only the top volume button works if I press it hard as well. The camera button is perfectly fine.
I purchased this phone brand new from T-Mobile November 2014, it may be time to upgrade...
Some cases cause this problems as they put consistent pressure on the buttons
Just experienced this last night. No idea what's caused it. My phone lives in a case with a power button cutout so there's no pressure on it. Odd, and irritating because thus phone is perfect otherwise, and the first one I've ever had that I still liked after 18 months.

Probably either broken button strip, or it has been dislodged from its mountings. You need to remove back cover, then battery and you can see whats going on.
