I would like some input on this as well :S
Started up PmR aroma installer, but has way too many configs. Not sure which ones are necessary.
Oh by the way I'm ion clean ROM 2.3 so i did some of the i/o tweaks and it brought the performance down by a lot. So just be careful.

I skimmed through the various scripts included with PimpMyRom, and my impression was that at least half of them were created by persons who didn't really know what they were doing. Some scripts set properties to values that are default anyway, some scripts just crank up some numbers because some blog on the internet said it's good for servers handling 1000 clients, etc.. But there also some tweaks in there that could very plausibly really improve things.
I cannot recommend specific tweaks because I didn't try any of them personally, but I can recommend a scientific approach: read every script you want to try, look up the description of the settings it changes, determine if it is plausible that it helps in your case, and then measure performance before and after applying each single change and record the results.
Before I was on CleanROM, I copied the settings from build.prop that Pimp My Rom had added. These are the settings that *I'm* happy with. I'm not using any init.d settings from it because CleanROM already has the ones that I wanted. I didn't want to flash Pimp over CleanROM, so I have my settings saved in a text file and apply them after each update. Here they are. Again, these work for me.
Code:
# Saves some battery without reducing performances
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
# Increase camera's photo and video recording quality
ro.media.dec.jpeg.memcap=8000000
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000
# Connect and disconnect faster (experimental)
ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=1000
# More free ram and apps load faster
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=m=y
# Increase jpg quality to 100%
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
# Smoother video streaming
media.stagefright.enable-player=true
media.stagefright.enable-meta=true
media.stagefright.enable-scan=false
media.stagefright.enable-http=true
# Device will boot faster
ro.config.hw_quickpoweron=true
# Better Flashlight intensity and camera-flash quality
ro.media.capture.flash=led
ro.media.capture.flashMinV=3300000
ro.media.capture.torchIntensity=40
ro.media.capture.flashIntensity=70
# Allow dalvik to use JIT (Just in Time) Compiler
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
No need for network settings as you'll see that CleanROM already has them.
Hope this helps!
Any other suggestions?

No, right?
So this display only looks beautiful and awesome when reading books, news,... watching 1080p videos? If that'strue then i think i'd go for the 300 because i usually watch 720p videos, which should look good on a 1280x800 screen and i only read books sometimes,
Browsing too, but for 720p videos TF300 should be enough.

so there are no optimized games or apps for this tablet? (even one)
What do you mean by optimised? There are many that look fine
There are some apps for FHD displays, search the Playstore.
Generally text will look better than on lower-resolution screens, textures won't, especially in games.

In my opinion *everything* will look better on the TF700. Besides the resolution, the contrast is WAY better on the TF700.
The difference is noticeable *everywhere* - I especially notice it while web browsing!
I don't know, if I were buying new and could afford it, I'd definately go for the T700 - it's slightly more future-proof at least - seems to me it's just better all of the way around....

Due to the way Android handles its resolution scaling, its not a problem for some apps. Basically, the infinity identifies as a 240dpi device. Any apps that run on both phones and tablets should be covered since the resources would be there for 240dpi phones. Tablet only apps and games would need to be updated, as would apps that don't properly handle doing scaling due to sloppy programming. You can see this in action with the stock Google apps.
And as the question was about the apps stop the blind advertising
PS The game is on! What a great show. So much better than in Beijing.

Well,just to let you know, connectbot makes full use of the display, it has the highest resolution terminal I ahve seen for a while.
Also, Chrome seems to make good use of the display.

Come on.. This is just text-based. See the posts above. The issue is GUI and textures.

Dead Trigger looks great and runs very smooth.
Pocket runs great.

how to tell?
can we easily test the resolution of apps?
Is there a way to take a screen shot and measure pixels, or the ratio of resolution?
After the recent firmware I noticed chrome looked more resolute, finer grained.
Especially google+ icons were smaller.
this is the only HD device so perhaps google android SDK needs to update first to support the screen size?
Perhaps the emulator would support our TF700 screen and other future device?
bottom line, how to measure apps externally for HD?
How important is pixel density in a tablet? For example Samsung GT2 = 149ppi Ipad 3 = 264ppi
Aesthetically, there can be quite a large difference, especially if you're viewing close to the screen and/or reading on it. It becomes less obvious the further you get away, but the higher the density, the higher the potential for detail in apps, text, video, and anything else you're viewing.
IMHO it doesn't dramatically change the user experience, but once you get used to a high pixel density, whenever you see something at a lower density, it just doesn't look as good.
I'd say go to a local electronics shop and test out devices with varying densities and see if you can notice a difference.

So, comparing the Sammy to the ipad 3 theoretically the screen density of the ipad would give you better images, video, text etc?
Short answer: Yes.
Long(er) ansewr: With text, definitely so. With the images and video, it would depend on the resolution of the source files, but either way, it's likely to be a noticeable improvement.

Appreciate your input.
I used to have a Galaxy S2 before. There, I flashed this thing called "Awesome Beats" which boosted the bass HEAVILY. I loved it. Is there anything like that for our TF101?

Try this if custom rom and rooted as beats audio will brick our device til I find a way around it

I already had that. But sure I'll wait to see if anything happens.

you could try installing DSP Manager apk that Cyanogenmod9/10 uses. It has bass boost and an equalizer.

Hi
Currently on cleanrom 3.1, no data2sd. Overall tablet working well ... but when using the google music android app .... the refresh and display of local music can take over a minute if I've not used it for a while.
Anyone else experiencing the same .... or suggestions for a fix ...

Yep known problem with the way Google Music works. Either you'll have to live with it, reduce the amount of music or move to another music app.
Thanks for the quick response. Real shame as i love the ui!

Yeah me too. At one point I had 60+ albums on there but couldn't stand the 'refresh' everytime I opened it. Now I keep maybe 8 or 10 and it is a lot better.
Maybe google will figure out how to do better media storage caching at some point. The gallery suffers from the same issue as does the google books app and magazines and so on ....
One thing though .... trying this on my samsung galaxy s 2 .... no lag with refresh at all .... with around 50 local albums. Running latest res.remix/4.2.1
Would be interesting to know how device specific this is...

I've enabled everything and set the effects to their max settings but I can't hear any difference with Beats? This is thru the tablet's speakers and headphones and bluetooth.

I agree with you. I use the DSP manager instead because it will actually have an effect when you enable the compressions, bass booster ,etc. At first I thought you were talking about the headphones .

I'm going to uninstall Beats and use that thing you said.
Think it more so applies to using through headphones. When i use my headphones with it and alter the settings It's very much noticeable
