Hi all,
I got my hands on some pictures of the Google Nexus 10 from Samsung. Full details and pictures are below at my blog. Personally, I think it looks very nice. Most excited about the Exynos 5250 and Mali T604. Android 4.2 looks like a very minor upgrade. What do you think?

I've been hesitant to buy any android tablet because it would just be a bigger phone. The screen resolution looks to be a big selling point ( HD++)
As a side note. I would think that for tablets the better camera would be onthe front of the device? Always seen it as strange that they follow the lead from phones.
So they are now using the Nexus 7 button and notification bar layout. It looks okay on a 7" tablet, but I prefer the all in one bottom notification bar on 10" tablets. Hopefully they haven't removed the option for this and a simple tweak is all it takes to get this back.
How long until Apple finds someway to create a lawsuit over this device since its a Samsung?

+1 Personally I'm tired of everything android being Samsung... Their first gen touchwiz was definitely iOS influenced and they are really just another giant corporation maximizing profit margins and trying to get a monopoly on android. I think I'll skip this one.

I'm still not going to go for an android tablet until EVERY app is able to run split screen for multitasking. I want to watch youtube and send a message mid video goddamn it. If I buy a tablet to replace my 2 year old XP netbook I want it to have the same functionality.

Same here, but the HP Touchpad fire sale was just too good to pass up. I mostly used it to learn CWM/TWRP and flashing ROMs.
A tablet that would be attractive for me to buy at full price would be something with an x86/64 processor (not an Atom, either something like an i3 or better) that could run desktop operating systems like Windows, which is where most of the real productivity apps are. I'd be able to dual boot Android/Windows since only the ARM platform is locked down in Windows 8. Something with a dockable keyboard/mouse like a laptop. Unfortunately the price point is still too high on these kind of things.

Ohh wait, I can try again - I think it will be over 9000 yen... multiplied by 3. Probably 4. I would consider it up to $499usd since that puts it in the same price category as the Infinity, which is its main Android-class-competition IMO. Sweet screen - versus - micro sd. I think I want the sweet screen on the N10.

Mali T604 specification is looking very cool for 3d graphics and any shader-based data processing. Will be better to provide glbenchmark data for actual comparison with present lead devices.

Rumours about Galaxy SIII are popping out. If SIII will have all the specs in this article, it's gonna be a blast. Guess we shouldn't worry about our SII getting old yet, cause it will probably take at least one year for SIII to be launched. Here's the article:

All I can say is WOW!!! That thing will be such a BEAST!!! I cannot WAIT till 2012 now!!! I will have to get the Galaxy NOTE to accompany my SII for now and when the SIII arrives I will definitely snatch it up!!!

Hopefully by next year we'll get to see at least something that really makes use of dual-core. We're speaking about "OMG quad-core I NEED it" but still decent single cores run mostly any current app/game properly...
Got an SGS2 and still running the same stuff I used to run in my SGS1...hopefully I won't be running the same old stuff on a quad, penta or hexa core.

I hope one good outcome of all these Apple lawsuits is that Samsung could finally stop designing phones that closely resemble iPhones (Internaional versions of GS1 and GS2 with the big HOME button in the middle) or iPad (GTab 10.1). Making some truely unique looking phones, Samsung.

2.0 ghz quadcore? wow! it'll eat the batt again!
again, batt life will be a major problem, even with the alleged 2250 mah batt
I just heard a rumor that Galaxy S4 will have 4.95 in HD screen with 1680x1050 resolution, Tegra 4 with 8 cores and laser pen with refillable ink that can be used to write on paper or as a stylus on the phone. It also comes with an extended battery that can fit into your other pocket and charges wirelessly to SGS4.

I beg to differ: the majority of the time the phone will be in deep sleep or at minimal (200? Mhz) with minimal voltage.
And according to those rumours, it gonna be 28nm fabrication process (that means lower power consumption).

All I want to see from the next galaxy s phone is the strength to take a fall without doing any considerable damage, something that is different in design to other phones and to have excellent battery life thanks to efficient power management and frequent updates in the Android OS.

no such thing as "enought powerful"
anyways, the source is 4chan. hardly the most reliable.
The only thing I am interested in are the UMTS band frequencies supported by next devices. I am tired of seeing tri- or quad-band android phones that are not necessarily compatible with every major countries. This means that you have then to wait for a specific version for your country, you are oftentimes stuck with carrier-specific phones, etc.).
And I am not talking about compatibility with new networks (LTE, 4G europe, etc.)...
Take the current generation of phones specs double them, release as rumor about new phone, repeat

In case you were still skeptical about the Nexus Tablet making its appearance at Google I/O this month, yet another rumored ASUS source has confirmed the imminent launch of the oft-fabled tablet. An ASUS rep at Computex told Android Authority will indeed make its debut appearance at Google I/O at the end of the month. Source : AndroidAndMe
We learned from sources that the target pricing for the Nexus Tablet was $149-$199, with Google aiming to bring the Nexus Tablet into as many pockets as possible. With production rumored at about 600,000 tablets produced by the end of June, it became fairly obvious that Google’s I/O developer conference was going to be showcasing the device.
Rejoice, Android fans, Google’s Nexus Tablet is real, will be made by ASUS, and will be unveiled at the end of June at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

not worried if it doesnt have a rear cam. who in their right mind uses a tablet to take photos anyway? I have my phone for that, or better yet, an actual camera. If google/asus sacrifice the front camera to allow the device to hit the right price point, or to allow better specs in the cpu/screen/build quality, then I'm all for it.

Not necessarily a phone, but considering of tech and gadget fans on here, maybe some sort of tablet or multimedia system.
I am a little out of touch with tech these days. It used to be I would suggest an archos, but their customer service is at this point below the dirton every other company I have dealt with.
A friend is looking something under or at the
£200 pound mark,
internet/local supplier makes no difference
for a birthday present,
not fussy on size,
most likely a fan of android,
will probably play strategy games of a good caliber,
will be used for reading and book storage,
a little music,
High storage capacity or upgradable
Internet definitely, but easy to unlock for multi sim use so the option is there.
and gps probably
I know archos have a few options in this arena and budget but what others are there?
Please just throw names at me if they come to you.

For £200 - where from?
The cost would surely depends on the place you live in our planning to buy the gadgety from.
Many places locked and contracted gadgets decrease the price range and it turns out to be cheap.
At my place, everything in the market is unlocked and has no contracts. So finding a decent gadgety below 200 bucks is a hard thing to do.
If you are in USA I would suggest best buy.

I am with you! If this phone is going to be unlocked and i can mess around with it and it works on AT&T, i have been waiting a long time for its release. $1170 for the 64gb one, which seems a bit much, but i will sping for it. It was this or the LG Nexus G, but i am not so sure about it.
So the 13 megpix sensor is from Sony, is that good? IDK but i was hoping it was better than the Samsung G3 and maybe even dare to dream equal to the 920 Nokia.
So pumped for this one.
So i just googled straight talk, how good is the data? and are they LTE ready? How does that work? There service area seems thin, and i am a rep for 7 southeastern states, this does not seem like a good option for me, am i missing something? I would love to dump at&t and do that $45 a month plan, no contract.

Sony made the camera for the iphone 4S, they are very very good at that. The data depends on if you get it through AT&T or T-Mobile. I'm planning on getting the T-mobile version for the HSPA+ speeds. In your case, you could have the same coverage by using an AT&T MNVO at a fraction of the price. The upside is there's no prepaid 4G. If you want that, you might consider T-mobile's new unlimited data plan, but then you'd be under contract again :?
MNVO thru straight talk will give me AT&t's coverage and speeds? I would be so happy if that were true. Why wouldnt more people be doing this?
Being an Infinity owner, I couldn't help but think of what the Padfone 2 should have had:

Also, can the tablet be used without the phone? I would assume not since the tablet is supposed to use the phone's data/apps.

I'm pretty sure the phone's processor and memory also power the tab, the tab is just a screen and battery for the most part.
I'm more interested in getting just the phone than the full kit. I already have an Infinity so I don't need the full Padfone bundle, but the phone itself has some nice specs.

lol I don't think they can do that. First, I can't find official information regarding the keyboard (I have watched the live event and there is no mention of the keyboard), are you guys sure that there is a keyboard dock? Second, the Padfone 2 has a new connector at the bottom (around the same size and fully compatible with micro-USB), so there is no way we can fit the Padfone 2 with any Transformer keyboard docks.
I have to give respect to windows. This tablet is REALLY nice. Checked it out in best buy and its basically our infinity with an extra gig of ram. Super fast and the office integration is amazing. I still love my infinity and no way would i trade it in for the rts now, but Microsoft has definitely taken a step in the right direction. Especially love the fact i can move between the tiled display and windows 8...pretty clutch move on Microsoft. Definitely gives me something to think about for when i decide to upgrade later down the road... never thought i would ever say that again about a windows mobile product...

lol ok...its still a pretty neat feature. Not saying its groundbreaking, just clutch for people who are used to a windows interface.

They're a lot bigger than I thought they'd be and are hard to use in portrait mode. Someone with a Note just bought a Samsung Ativ and he's posting his comparisons if you guys are interested. It's Atom though, not RT. P.S. - The TF700's the same size as the Note.

We looked at the Asus Vivo at BestBuy.
Lot of people were asking questions about it.
600 bucks tho...too much money to spend.
It is nice, yet for 600 I think the Microsoft RT8 Surface is a better deal.
The wife's Surface should be here in the next week or so.
I'd pass on Windows RT and go only for WIndows 8 Pro

Yep an Intel based Win8 Ultrabook would be sweet...$800.00 bucks for the low end HP Envy...ouch baby!
You can't even play an mkv movie on that thing. It's way way too early to think about switching to such a new system.
I bought a surface and within 10 minutes I had a bug where I couldnt navigate away from an item in the app store and a windows error box popped up. Lets hope it gets smoothed out. I do like the type keyboard though

I bought a Lenovo Yoga (full on Win8) yesterday. It's pretty slick. No more Android tablet for me for awhile.
The one that has really caught my eye is the Samsung Series 5/7. It's really "transformer like". So expensive though...

It's little brother is more affordable, but still:

Damn Amazon doesn't offer any break in cost for the ATIV Smart Pro.
Nice little taptop however...the price on these things really needs to drop.
At least the Envy line is less money...I'm a fan of the HP line.
It is definitely interesting player in tablet market.
But surface don't have full HD display though they claim to use special technology. Plus it is still very small market for apps.
Personally, Windows Surface Pro is my interest lies with three concerns:
1. Battery life
2. Weight
3. Price
Official specs: http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/surface-with-windows-8-pro/specifications
If anyone talks about desktop replacement with tablet, I guess no doubt this would be the one. If talks about benchmark, I believe i5 CPU should still be far more powerful than any of SoC.
However, if battery life is mere 5 hours, weight is like 2lbs, and priced at $1200..., it is no longer considered as tablet gadget/budget. So it will be really interesting to see how Microsoft will pull this out in the end (Jan 2013).

Do you knlw that surface rt launched with plenty(I heard 7000 apps but looking for confirmation on that) compatible apps in windows store? I'd say that's one helluva way to start off a launch, software wise. I've seen most of the Major android/IOS apps on there already. There's a YouTube videoshowing a person going to Mkcrlsoft app store with his surface. It was filled with apps.
Of course its small compared to Android/IOS, but it has more than enough apps considering it just launched. IMO
Don't forget, there are more windows developers worldwide than Android and IOS combined. Its far easier for exsisting developers to upgrade their legacy/x86 apps to be RT compatible vs. Them try to port it Android/IOS. It won't be long before they have a comparable Mount of apps also.

Not sure I thought I read that the Winapp store had around 10k apps.
I'm most likely incorrect as usual.

In theory, you are right. But in theory, there are so many cellphones with android worldwide, and Apps optimised for them, you'd guess shouldn't take long for android tablet market to explode. The market is not bad at all but for example square enix just released chaos ring 1 on android where ios has already two sequales. Other example is why didn't Windows phone exploded before assuming porting apps not so diffucult.
Personally, excited with all these tablet market competition heating up as in the end we as consumer will see better product. I believe with in next few months winner of market may become obvious..
As for numbers of app, 10k at start is great, but remember android has 600k, and apple claims 275k ipad apps so relatively speaking...
The other source http://www.businessinsider.com/windows-8-apps-grew-by-500-apps-a-day-2012-10
Even at 10,000 apps, Microsoft is way behind the competition. iPad users have about 700,000 iOS apps in the App store with 250,00 of them written specifically for the iPad. There's currently over 550,000 Android apps available, with more than 20,000 being added daily, according to Appbrain.com.

Whereas, microsoft claims past couple days (before lauch) 500 applications/day.
The android market and iTons has lots stuff...personally I believe that 60% of Android and 75% of iPad apps are truly "crapplications."
There is so much useless repetitive junk in both app markets the claims of who is app king is just fluff.
The whole freebie app thing is about getting something on your tablet that's riddled with bullsh*t ads.
If the Windows store can get a handle on how much baloney is added to the market and keep it minimal just maybe they'll have a good seller.
