I broke my htc thunderbolt screen last month and sent my phone to asurion to get a replacement. I was wondering if they still have thunderbolts in stock or if I will be receiving a different phone?
Anyone's guess but I don't think they still have the TB... usually Asurion will give you the next ****tiest (oldest really) phone closest to yours, so Rezound or Droid Incredible 4G LTE or dinc2 if it's 4G...something like that, don't expect a Nexus or RAZR. :/

I got one in a few weeks ago. Yes, you will get a refurbished Thunderbolt. They are still stocked.

If they are out of stock (which they probably aren't) they'll do what jimmy said and give you the next phone up that's a refurb. They typically won't let you get a different brand unless you complain a lot about the current brand and even then you might have to go through that at least three times. I went through this several times with warranty replacements of my wife's Motorola droid 3. Not asurion of course but they have basically the same process. They wouldn't let me exchange it for anything different at all. My wife finally sold that garbage and she ended up getting an iPhone 4s that she complains about on a daily basis.

If there's something I learned doing business with Asurion - once you get a refurbished phone, you will probably get 2-3 more with worse issues until you finally get a new phone.
I hope you have better luck than I.

Comperable phones to our beloved Tbolt are the Samsung droid charge (which is a SGS1 with 4g), and even worse, the LG Revolution. I'd be leery of them trying to swap you out for one of those crap piles.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.

My bf just made a claim through Asurion, and we assume they are just sending him another doubleshot, because they never specified what phone they are sending him. If it is a SGS2 then he said he will trade with me. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Let us know..
After several absolutely garbage replacement phones, tmobile offered to switch me to another phone... But their offer was a sidekick... So I opted for another doubleshot, this time I got lucky. Its tight, the buttons r great. Everything perfect but already updated... So ill just stay stock I suppose. Yuck. But the upside is I'm now on lifetime warranty, so eventually they'll upgrade it to something else.
Edit: this was through warranty though, not insurance.

Yeah I am so ready for a new phone...I had the mt4g and had to send in 3 of them...then the Slide became a model to switch too....I am tired of slide...Tmobile needs to not brand a phone and overlays...espresso sense is lousy and limits the updates...and to this day with swype i do not use the keyboard.
So, Asurion sent my bf another doubleshot. I am bummed. Now he has to deal with the new bootloader, and that makes me sad.

The previous phone I got last week was on 1.55 and had old market, but the keyboard was falling off and the g key didn't work on the keyboard. This one feels like a different phone, its perfect, except the earpiece speaker is blown. Just not in the mood to set thru another hour of customer srvc, which is still the best. I love tmobile, but refurbs suck.

I went through 1 Asurion exchange and 3 warranty exchanges. Every time I got the DS back.
TMo has a policy if you have to do 3 exchanges in 90 days they'll offer you a different phone.
They offered me a Sidekick 4g, and absolutely refused to give me any other options.
It appears the chances of trading out the MT4GS at this point are approaching zero. It's all good. CM9 just came out and tv out + six axis is finally possible. Thats all I really ever wanted.

If you're an att customer never send a phone to the manufacturer. You have a 1 year warranty and att acts as the middle man for the warranty. Call them. They replace phone it takes 2-3 days.
the thing is i wasnt the original purcherser i bought on craiglist i am not using it on att. so that why i had to send it to htc
In that case you have no choice.
I bought mine off ebay, but I took it into a real att store anyway. They did not have the replacement in stock, otherwise I would have gotten 1 that day. They overnighted me 1 and I had it by the next day.
I know this may not help your current situation, but maybe it will help someone else. Always try to local at&t store first. The worst thing they can do is turn you away.

Lol good point.
hahah I am (dare I say this....ugh!) glad *cough choke* to be an AT&T customer for this reason. I just called in and got a replacement phone even though I didn't buy it from them and when I received the phone, that phone started to reboot randomly so I called them back and sent it back to them. They are sending me another one and should be here by Friday. Hopefully I can get through this bad stock of phones and AT&T will get LTE sometime this year in Columbus Ohio. Dare I dream? hahah
I really love this phone but the build quality that HTC use to be SOOO well known for seems to have gone out the window. I bought the AT&T One X when it first came out and had to have it replaced atleast 3 different times before my 30 days were up due to a number of different issues. The last one I got I've had for probably 2 months now and everything had been great up until a couple days ago. About a quarter of the way up the screen from the bottom does not recognize touch. If I use an app or something to draw a line down the screen, when I get to that spot it leaves a blank area and then the line starts again when I get past that area. One whole row on the keyboard I can't use any of the letters and atleast one of those letters is part of my gmail address so I can't enter it. When I'm scrolling in say the settings menu, the screen will be real jittery if my finger goes into the area where it's dead at or it will think I'm pressing instead of scrolling and randomly open up menus or apps. I do have insurance on the phone but I know it's not something they will swap in store since I'm past my 30 days so it will have to probably have to be sent for repair and I can almost guarantee they will update it to the latest release so I won't be able to root or anything else. Just curious if anyone else has had issues with the touch screen going out on there One X?
Sucks sorry to hear about your phone... Just terrible bad luck

You may not believe this but I've had 10 One X's and all have had problems. 5 were exchanged in store during the 30 days and 5 were sent as warranty replacements. The one I have now seems to be the most usable but there are still a bunch of problems (wifi signal fluctuates a ton, loud rattling noise when using vibrate). I've never seen a phone this nice but with so many quality control issues. All of the One X's I've had have gotten really hot with use.

ive never had any problems with this phone whatsoever, (Knock on wood) other than getting alittle warm playing a game while its charging
I feel your pain, bro. I purchased my Intl One X at full price at the time, which was $669.00 USD. It died two weeks later when the charging/data port stopped working. I sent it into HTC and after many phone calls to Tier 2 escalations and 2 months, they finally told me they could not repair my phone because of an Apple injunction on importing the motherboards to the US. This is how I came to be with the One XL.
The whole experience was IMO completely ridiculous and I've never experienced such horrible customer service from any company ever. They even tried to charge me to diagnose the problem with my phone. I fought them and got them to pay for the fee themselves. If I had paid it, would they have refunded it a month later when they told me that they couldn't fix my phone? Doubt it!
I got to use my original One X for a full two weeks before it died. Spent 2 months badgering HTC America about where my phone is, when is it going to be fixed, whats wrong with it, etc... only to be told "Sorry, you're ****ed!"
This story repeats itself tons of times in the One X forums from many different users. While I think the One XL is sweet (only because of LTE, if I had to use HSPA+ I'd still be really pissed and probably wouldve just sold it) I'll never buy or recommend HTC again.
Yeah I'm on my third now. Speaker keeps dying. Volume is so low that it's impossible to hear anything.
Htc fanboys might hate apple and samsung as much as they want but truth is that none of those companies have customers that still have problems with their phone even after getting the 10th replacement

Apple? Sure. But Samsung? No. I just bought the HTC One X because I replaced my Galaxy S III so many times for various problems that AT&T would not exchange it anymore. Also, my third Nexus 7 is on the way. I think quality control has gone downhill across the board.
Hello, all.
I've recently broken my g2x beyond repair--physically that is. I've been using my girlfriend's g2x and before I contact t-mobile for a replacement (I have premium handset protection plan) I wondered if anyone had recently tried to replace their phone using the same method?
Two questions follow:
Was your phone replaced with another g2x, or a phone similar to it?
Was there an option to pay the difference for a phone upgrade?
If you go through Assurion, you need to call them and ask for a different model. We filed a claim online and got another G2x.
If you're going through T-Mobile, you have to get three replacements in six months before they'll offer a different model

I can confirm this mine broke a few months ago and online all they offered was g2x so I called and asked and they offered me a HTC oneS came brand new in box with new micro sim and I am loving it very stable.

Actually it wasn't...the thread has been talking about the insurance replacement not about the T-Mobile warranty exchange program...they are two completely different things.

I called asurion and filed a claim today.
They said they could only send out a different phone if the same model phone is not available; I didn't want to push the issue since I'd be getting a new phone anyway.
the deductible was $130
Didn't want to create a new thread so I'll post here. My G2X recently started sensing the headphones even when non are plugged in which doesn't allow me to call without using the speaker. I went to a T-Mobile store and the representative there, after checking if my phone has been rooted off-course, said that for $5 I will get a replacement in 2 days which is a "much better" phone. What I got in the mail is a G2, which is a) 6 months older b) has a smaller screen c) has a single core processor d) has a slower wireless modem - I can go on and on, but the point is it's not an equivalent phone. This was the first problem I had with my G2X in 1 year and 9 months of owning it, so by all means replace it with another one or something that is better. I am going back to t-mob today, but I am not holding my breath. I'll keep people posted on the results of my expedition. Any insight into this matter is greatly appreciated.

maybe treat it as an honest mistake on their part at first. I'd be surprised if they stuck with the verdict that you deserve a G2. You didn't tell us what replacement plan you had or what warranty you were using to get it fixed. Also, usually the headphone issue can be fixed with compressed air or a straw brush or q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean off the contacts, which can register a headset when nothing is in there.
tell them you want your G2X back if nothing else. It's probably worth more with the headset issue than the G2 new.

Didn't get a chance to stop by yesterday, so we'll see what they say today. I am an electrical engineer so I can easily fix this issue, I just think if I pay $7.99(premium handset protection) I should be able to use it - especially since my wife and I have paid it for 2 phones for almost 2 years. I came straight to the store and the T- Mobile representative filed the claim for me - so since it was only $5 shipping I assume the replacement is direct from T-Mobile.
Well, as expected, the T-Mobile rap agreed that the G2 is inferior, called customer service to see what they can do and and they said - "too bad-so sad." After that, he said that the only thing he can recommend is calling customer loyalty(I'll try it but I am not holding my breath). So the bottom line is, T-Mobile stole $400 of my money over 2 years for 2 phones since the protection plan did absolutely nothing for me even when my device broke. I am sending the G2 back and that's that. TMobile offers the cheapest service, especially if I have 3 lines with unlimited data and a 10% discount I can get through work, so I really doubt I'll switch to something else.

Well, finally after 2 visits to the T-mobile store and contacting customer loyalty department twice - the first time I was promised I will get a replacement G2X - and the order was never filed - I got a nice shiny refurbished LG L9. It's not the greatest phone, but it sure as heck beats the G2 and is definitely better then the G2X. Not sure why this was so hard to do in the first place?
Glad you got a new rig man!!

I have not read a single instance on here of AT&T denying warranty service, or even giving a poo at all, about unlocked bootloader or custom ROM being on a phone. But lots of reports of folks here successfully sending in "tampered" phones for warranty service on a hardware issue.

I'm thinking about it, but I'm not going to take it apart until I'm sure I'm sticking with the One and all is well.
FWIW, HTC is not blocking the One, whether or not AT&T ever plans to ask them to. Looks like the rumors were wrong.
The international One roms work great on the AT&T version. I don't think I'm ever going back to an AT&T base.
Also, the frustrating multitasking issues on the One X? Not a sign of them on the One. :victory:

Honestly a little bummed I couldn't get a Samsung gs3 (or onex+) shipped out instead, but ay least I'll still have a phone .

I honestly want it, but I don't think my contract is over with the one x until late this year, and I'd rather not pay the cancellation fee :\ or the $650 Google version with aosp or Dev version

Lots of people have gotten early upgrades by complaining loudly enough. I was at least six months early.

Agreed. I lost my phone about 6 months before my upgrade was due, and ATT was more than willing to send me a One X. I paid a whopping 99 cents for it

Did you guys have AT&Ts extra insurance, or is this the normal 1 year warranty? My battery has been really screwey recently, keeps getting drained really fast when the phone is sleeping. I'm wondering if I should just go make some noise.
