(Q) how to return 3g to stock form...or at least a ROM that will allow 3g to work. - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What method or rom could I flash to enable 3g to work? I missed the 4g upgrade and have just been flashing WiFi (wingray) ROMs since, but if I sell this thing, I'd want the buyer to be able to use their data plan if they had one.
Thanks

Assuming you have an MZ601 xoom then the everest Roms are what you are looking for.

Mine is a us 3, believe it's a 600

My wifi+3g XOOM is not reading my sim card

When I received my XOOM it had asked for a sim card and all was working fine whether I use my mobile network or wifi, but after a latest update it has stopped reading sim card and mobile network settings are disabled,is it possible that Motorola pushed wifi only XOOM updates and it was not meant for this model?
P.S. I already tried factory reset.

No more 3G for you either. Sorry. :-(
That's bad, especially when you pay extra bucks to get a 3G supporting XOOM, thanks for the reply

[Q] Xoom 4G chip Swap help

Please help.
My first XOOM (Verizon 4G LTE) got sort of smashed in an accident.
I found a second Xoom to replace it with, activating it with no issue (3G).
The problem I am having is the 2nd Xoom has not had the 4G upgrade done on it.
So I took the 4G chip off of the motherboard on the "old" xoom and installed it on the new Xoom.
I then popped in the SIM card and "Activate"d it.
It is not seeing the 4G LTE. I am assuming there must need to be a firmware upgrade of some kind, but I have no idea where to find it or how to install it.
Does anybody have a clue on this?
Thank you.
But 3g works? Like ur 4g chip seemz to be doing fine?

Yes, the 3G has always worked fine. It's just that the firmware does not recognize the 4G chip, so ONLY 3G works.
I'm hoping I can download and install the firmware without having to root the device.
Even if u flash a 4g rom only 3g works? Did u try playing around with the frequency bands? Btw goood job with successfully replacing the chip !

He hasn't flashed a 4G enabled ROM because he doesn't want to root.

That is correct, although after talking to a Verizon tech tonight, I don't think I will have a choice.
Is there a solid ROM out there? From everything I've been reading, sacrifices are made with these ROMs like lack of WiFi.
you don't need to root to flash a 4G rom....
you only need the stock 4G rom.
here is a link to the Motorola page to get the rom and how to flash.

What Rom are you running?
On cleanrom4.5 you just need yo flash the att stock 4g and wifi hotspots hack mods in the cleanmods zip from recovery and you're good to go.
Also questions belongs in the q and a section.

Wait so it will not work with the generic icons? That is a shame, because the generic icons allow saving of phone numbers to default to Google not the phone. To me this is more valuable than att hot spot. They make me pay for a 3gb LTE plan without offering LTE in my area, I never exceed 1/2 gb on a given month.

Try the wifi tether app available for download on Google code. Set its setting to generic ICS and it'll still let you tether just not through the wifi hotspot app

Wow I'm so sorry! I re-read your OP and realized you're asking something completely different than what I answered.
Try downloading the my Att app or some other att wifi hotspots app that I can't remember the name of right now. Ill have to get back to you tomorrow about the name exactly.

No Signal

I had the non us version of the nexus s. It was stuck on 2.3.3. I dont recall where i got the update( I downloaded one from one of the threads on xda as there was no update available whenever I checked for ota) but I flashed it with 2.3.6. After that I received notifications for ics 4.0 then after applying that ota I got one for 4.0.4 I believe then one for jelly bean 4.1.2. Though all the updates went fine now I dont get signal on any network. When I look for manual network search it shows unknown network found and I cant connect. Could this be because I might have flashed a cdma version? If so how can i go back to stock 4.1.2 for the gsm model?

I will try it in a a few days as my cuz took the phone to a different city. Just a quick question should I go back to 2.3.3 stock? Or 4.1.2?

It's a preferred thing. I personally would go with ics, while a few swear that gb is faster & stable

[Q] Will this phone work overseas in India on an AOKP/CM based ROM ?

Wondering if I should upgrade from my VZW Galaxy Nexus to this phone so I can have a working phone overseas.
I think you can not select "Global" or "GSM" in Mobile Network when using AOSP roms. I'm pretty sure this only works using TW.
