I had the non us version of the nexus s. It was stuck on 2.3.3. I dont recall where i got the update( I downloaded one from one of the threads on xda as there was no update available whenever I checked for ota) but I flashed it with 2.3.6. After that I received notifications for ics 4.0 then after applying that ota I got one for 4.0.4 I believe then one for jelly bean 4.1.2. Though all the updates went fine now I dont get signal on any network. When I look for manual network search it shows unknown network found and I cant connect. Could this be because I might have flashed a cdma version? If so how can i go back to stock 4.1.2 for the gsm model?

I will try it in a a few days as my cuz took the phone to a different city. Just a quick question should I go back to 2.3.3 stock? Or 4.1.2?

It's a preferred thing. I personally would go with ics, while a few swear that gb is faster & stable

I know it messes up the connectivity. Received the OTA update but it failed to Install... Im on stock everything besides the radio..

what do you mean messes up the connectivity? the tethering issue has been fixed with the latest update if that's what you mean. yes you would need the stock radio and recovery. the update will fail if you aren't on stock everything. just flash the 2.3.4 radio and stock recovery if you're on cwm. you should update fine after that
Well I downloaded the the stock rom of 2.3.3 from rom manager... everything was cool... then I got the 2.3.6 update... it was 98 MB and I pressed install =_= my cellular connectivity is home again

You have modified something in /system. OTA's will fail when something in the file system is modified.

So I recently rooted my device via Odin and attempted to flash Zeus ROM 6 through cwm. There was an error with the flash as the ROM did not load properly. I reset my phone in the cwm menu so my phone got a fresh factory reset. However, my hspa+ will not activate, although I do get a signal. What should I do?? I have tried another factory reset and turning airplane mode on and off. Still no luck
My infuse is running 2.3.6 if that even makes a difference.

Doing a factory reset in recovery is not the same as puttin your phone back to stock...your still running Zeus...
Just use heimdall or Odin and go back to stock

But the thing is, my phone isn't running the Zeus ROM. It's still 2.3.6 with 2.6.35.7 kernel.
I look at my mobile network type and it says it's UMTS versus the hsdpa(or something like that)that it was using earlier. It also reads my mobile network state as disconnected but is still in service (just cant use data based applications such as Facebook)
Should I still try to unroot my phone??

Doc, It is not uncommon for the mobile state to say disconnected. I am on my sgs3 at the moment, it says mine is disconnected, yet all is well.

There is a misunderstanding... my network state says my device is disconnected. I am not able to access any app that requires data use such as the play store, Facebook, reddit etc.... All say there is no internet connection and simply won't run.

Weird that's happening in stock. I'm not sure if the links are still working (I'm sure you can find them in here somewhere) but have you considered returning to stock using odin (no root, no custom recovery) and rerooting to see if that'll fix it?

yes i know it's strange, it doesn't happen on jb roms since those are the only ones i've tested on the phone. i wanted to get that crt enabled 2.3.6 but those links aren't working anymore, which is why i had to migrate to jb, i still want to get back to GB but the links aren't working
if anyone can help me grab the stock crt enabled 2.3.6 gb rom i would be extremely grateful
