Android Chat - Android General

Hey Guys,
I am an avid Android Fan and I love doing stuff to my Phone!
Problem is though, none of my friends are that into Android as me :/
So I what this post is, is just a plead for someone who loves android and know what they are talking about (i.e ROM's Root, Overclocking etc.) for like a chat every now and then because I bore my friends with it and it would be nice to get a response of someone and not a blank stare.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S 1 so if you have this phone that would be even better! I am running CM9.
So defiantly if you also want a good android chat every now and then, post your email so that I and others can give you a good android chat!
Thanks Guys,
TechMennis

I like to debate about Android. I have a few friends who are Android savvy like me but I can easily crush them in all my know how.
Anyways gtalk me [email protected]
I'm not very fast at responding, thoug

Big Android fan here as well, got my Galaxy S1 2 years ago when the Android platform was the "underdog" of smartphone OS's if i may say. I wanted to get an iPhone 4 at that time, but after some reading I thought I should try this Android OS and see what an open source platform is all about !
I am still rocking my S1, currently running CM10. I think the S1 is and will always be a legendary Android device.. the dev community is just huge and I am completely grateful. My device came with Android 2.1 Eclair and now its running 4.1.2 Jellybean!

Xperia Play here running CM9, Archos 101G9 w/stock ICS and Xperia X8 with CM7..avid Android fan as you'd guess.

Yep.. We kinda mastered running all versions of linux on our phones a while ago... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010923
btw.. backtrack is an Ubuntu variant.
Yeah, other distros are cool geek cred stuff. But to have a security testing suite on your phone is really dam nice. Especially with it not overriding the rom like the suite I have on my fuze.

It's the same thing. Backtrack is ubuntu with extra stuff added. It's nothing new at all. I snapped this picture back in March.

Sorry that is the link... im on my phone atm!

It looks nice. I've always considered MIUI to be the marriage of Android's usability with Apple's design...but then I saw Ice Cream Sandwich. Even these screenshots don't dissuade me, as nice as they are.
I have to say, though, that the MIUI team is really good at design.
I've ran miui on my phone before cm9 came and out I'm looking forward to the miui ics release. I love how much you can customize miui.
I love my Nexus S more and more everyday!
How will MIUI implement the multitasking UI? I'm guessing they will put their own spin on it but I am wondering if they have released any materials regarding this.

lets hope they will release this for the htc desire
I heart MIUI that was my go to rom for my D1. Now that the dev are getting close to getting it to the X2 I'm really looking forward to some more MIUI fix.

[APP] BEST Media Center ☆☆☆ XBMC ☆☆☆

We have been keeping a little secret.. the kind that is so much fun to share when the time comes.
XBMC for Android.

As it is popular in top box and in iphone
Now it is rocking on Galaxy Note and Galaxy s3 and HTC one X
¤ Not a remote, not a thin client; the real deal. No root or jailbreak required.
¤ XBMC can be launched as an application on your set-top-box, tablet, phone, or wherever else Android may be found.
¤ The feature-set on Android is the same that you have come to expect from XBMC, no different from its cousin on the desktop.
¤ Running your favorite media-center software on small, cheap, embedded hardware is about to become a hassle-free reality.
¤ And as Android-based set-top-boxes are becoming more and more ubiquitous, it couldn’t be a better time.
¤ In fact, primary development was done on a Pivos XIOS DS set-top-box. And that is no coincidence, you will notice that Pivos is now listed as an official sponsor (more on that later).
¤ It is in under development of XBMC.... With more features
I will get the updates here when the XBMC worked on it as i Open source i have presented here
Enjoy
¤ XBMC is stable and works great there, as well as on various tablets and phones. Though with Android, as many of you probably know, that is only the beginning of the story.

What tablet?

I have been looking for a tablet but i seem to be a bit confused with whats going on with the android software. Every tablet i have looked at doesnt seem to have the traditional android features and settings most have a whole different play store called either getjar or applib etc the salesman said that i needed to get a tablet with honeycomb 3.0 as this still has the back door access for rooting is this true. What decent tablets are about for around £150 doesnt matter if is second hand just looking for something with Bluetooth wifi and usb host which to my knowledge is available with android 3.0. Ive looked at the archos g3 and g9 but they have android 4.0 and root access is blocked also doesnt have half the functions also looked at the viewsonic viewpad 7 but thats stuck on android 2.2
Any suggestions or advice on anything ive mentioned would really be great.

1) PLEASE use punctuation.
2) Almost any name-brand tablet that runs 4.0.x (ICS) or 4.1.x (JB) can be rooted. If it uses "getjar" or something it's running Java but probably not Android, any Android tablet should have "Play Store" which actually has nothing to do with rooting or not.
If you have that much money to spend I suggest you look into getting an HP TouchPad (if you don't need a front facing camera) or an Acer or a transformer.
The archos i looked at in store today said it had android 4 ics but the salesman said it wasnt the proper android software and i would be better off using one with honeycomb 3.2 but i will have a look at the suggested models online now

I hate to say this but no one that has any idea what they doing to begin with would trust that. There are many so called places like that over the internet. Just do your research and you will be fine.
