need help with stock kindle fire lockscreen - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

ok here goes guys and i hope i'm posting this in the proper area ....my apologies if i'm not . i'm trying to get my rooted kindle fire to stay on a live background ,however every time i put my kindle to sleep it reverts back to the stock kindle background that changes every time time it goes to sleep and wakes back up again . i've read where you can use a file explorer app and go to data/data /com.android /file then settings to get to the wallpaper file and simply change the permissions , my problem is when i go to the /data file in root explorer the second /data file is not there and it says the file is empty what am i missing ???ive watched several you tube videos on how to do this , but my /data file in root exploreer is saying its empty ...any and all help would be appreciated ......thanks

thanx xda!!!!!!

ok i think Ive figured it out:victory::victory: ....first off BIG TY to josepho1997 for your quick reply to my post .... here's what i was doing wrong...i was in the right folder , however , when i went to the settings in es file explorer and went to check the root explorer ..it said it needed superuser privs i assumed when one rooted through KFU you got SU rights .....apparently not so .......so i downloaded the newest KFU and tried to re root and install SU it did re -root without a problem however SU did not install, so i re-booted my KF and hooked it to my pc found superuser.apk in the files folder and simply copied it to the root of my KF . then disconnected from my PC ,manually installed superuser.apk, reopened es file explorer went back to settings checked ROOT EXPLORER ,SU then came up allowing for permission , granted , went back to root folder , went to data /.....and there's the other folders that previously was not there ...HORRAY!!!!!!!!!......:victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory: ...so my problem was SU was not installed allowing the other files to be seen......hopes this help others having this same issue .....couldn't have done it w/o all the help from xda and all its members ...thanx again !!!!!!!!!!!

Having some permissions issues with my ADB and Terminal

Hello everyone. I have been working with android for a 6 months now and still cannot figure out what im doing wrong to get my permissions to work correctly. I have installed ADB and successfully rooted my MT3G Slide. I have been trying lately to figure out why i cannot manually configure A2SD. I have gone through both ADB Shell and Terminal under Su to try to mkdir /system/apps but it will give me a problem like my system is not allowing me to rewrite or its copy protected. I have tried to remount and it claims its successful. Another symptom i experience is not being able functionally use the rom manager or restart in clockwork recovery after i have flashed a rom. I always have to wipe the devices before i can loop hack back into clockwork mode. I have tried to fix permissions and restart in recovery through rom manager and it just brings up a question mark ontop of an image of a phone. I have been trying most recently to move a file through terminal to another name and replace the old with a new of the same name. It says the directory is not empty when i try to modify this file. So Anyone think they might know a solutions to these issues or hopefully all of them in one simple problem i cant seem to figure out.
download & install 'root explorer' for your phone from the android market (or your Pc, and put it on your phone) , grant it superuser permissions from superuser on your phone, open it up, and there's an option to make the phones memory R/W. (Its R/O as default which may be why your having permission issues)
Saying that Im yet to figure out adb's permissions fully..
Be careful with root explorer though, its a very intrusive programme which can screw up everything
Root explorer cost money... is there another program that allows me the same option. I have been using astro file manager, any way to do it on that one?

Deleted Build.prop, now it copies to system root but wont show up !

Dear All,
First thankyou so much for the great forum we have here, I am using Huawei Ideos u8150, the fone is network locked so I played around, being a total noob I started with installing sdk, and rooted my fone using z4root, rooting was successful
No when I try to copy a modified build.prop to the systems folder in root explorer, the file is copies but is not visible, also I have deleted the original build.prop & I am afraid to reboot the fone,
can restoring the fone to factory settings solve this ? also how come I copy the file to system folder, it gets copied and I still cant see it ?
I have tried pushing the file using ADB command line but the device refuses to mount (persmission denied)
I would really be thankful to anyone who can guide a noob like me, if you dont this forum has enough reasons to love it already,
cheers !

Moderators if by any chance I have placed this query in the wrong part of forum, please let me know in which part I should raise it, thanks !
In the top right hand corner or left it should be a r/o button. If you push that to r/w which is read/write you will be able to copy the bp correctly. Don't forget to mount as r/o which is read only before you exit RE. Then reboot. If you made a backup which you should have done before modding the bp you will be ok to reboot. If anything goes wrong just do a restore. Also you can Redownload the current rom your on to your cpu. Then extract it to a folder on your desktop. Then browse threw all the folders untill you see the stock build prop. Copy&paste it to your sd and that's your stock build prop. Hope this helps. Good luck

thanks for the kind help, I have tried doing that, I have rooted it, the I click on the r/o button and then I did copy the new built.prop to systems folder, the copying process completes, doesnt report any error but still there is no file visible by the name of built.prop, I just cant find it, is it hidden ? or is it not being copied in the first place ? & thanks I would try to extract the stock built.prop, and copy it to the folder but I will do it as a last option till I dont find something else,
thanks a million for the help, would apprciate if you can point it what I am doing wrong

Can't find anything in /data/

Hi guys, I'm trying to follow the guides to prevent my wallpaper from changing that need to navigate to /data/data/com.android.settings/files by ES File Explorer or Root Explorer.
However, I couldn't find anything from /data/
Mine is 6.2.1, Burritos rooted.
Please help, thanks
(repeat of posted reply to same question in the How to Apply Wallpaper thead)
I use ES File Explorer 1.6.1.0 from the Market (not Amazon because last I checked they were a version or two behind)
Then go into settings a scroll to bottom and select ROOT EXPLORER and when asked I think I selected the CM option (and for good measure select MOUNT FILE SYSTEM, although I don't think that is required unless you are working in the /system/ folder).
Now you should see the contents of the /data/ folder...
Hope this helps.

I can't select ROOT Explorer with ES File Explorer
Hmmmm........got nothin'....
Are you sure you are looking in /data and not /sdcard/data?
What are you using Root Explorer or ES File Explorer?
If you're not fully rooted, even if you temp root with burrito root and set system to r/w, /data will show as empty unless your file explorer had been granted su permissions (which you'll need full root and super user app for). Found that out the hard way today myself.
Damn you Swype!
I had the same problem when I rooted the first time. I was following SuperOneClick instructions until I read it wasn't working with the latest stock update. Mid-root process, I switched to Burrito Root and completed the process. When I went to make mods in /data/data/... and saw nothing, I did a complete system restore and re-rooted with Burrito Root from the beginning. Everything's been fine since, including /data/data/.
After reading the post above, I guess my issue was either a botched root or something awry with my su install.

[Q] Permissions change was not successful (root explorer)

Hello Members
I'm kinda new to rooting, i just installed ics 4.0.4 rooted it and now im having problems changing permissions in root explorer. Im trying to install Talk_with_AV_no_wifi.zip. I'm following the instructions from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390818. But its not working for me.
Any help would be appreciated.
just a guess but mayybe becuase it is in the i-777 forum, it could have diff, libs or something. idk if im right or not.
It worked fine when i had gingerbread. Since ive had ics been having issues with root explorer. I got passed moving the file from sd to system/app with help from other threads but when i try to change permissions in root explorer i get the message.

A warning box pops up and contains this message: Permissions change was not successful. Please note that some file systems (e.g. SD card) do not allow permission changes

If its a mod from a different phone it probably won't work. I am on my phone and can't look right now.

The mod isn't phone specific, it worked when i had gingerbread on the same phone.
Check Superuser SU for any errors. It may have denied permissions. If so, just click the button at the bottom to enable RootExplorer to make SU changes.
Please help me...!!!
when i m trying to chage the permission in root explorer its showing me...'Permissions change was not successful. Please note that some file systems(e.g SD Card) do not allow permission changes.'
plz tell me how to solv it...I have LG P698 mobile phone...its hv android 2.3.4
I've got root, SuperSU, and it won't let me change the files at all. I can't rename the files. Just says, "HotspotProvision.akp cannot be renamed because the file system is read-only". I can't find a permissions option. Do I need the pay version of Root Explorer?
What am I missing here?
The filesystem needs mounted as read write

The problem maybe with supersu binaries, delete these files through twrp or cwm recovery
system/etc/install-recovey.sh
system/xbin/ksud, ku.sud and su

i have deleted xbin folder in system/xbin path

Please Help I have deleted xbin folder in system/xbin in my samsung gts5303 and now i want to again root my samsung gts5303 but it is not rooting now.Firstly i have rooted it with Root Master android app but now when i m trying to reroot it with Root Master app it shows Sucessfully Rooted and also installs supersu app but not installs binary becouse binary is installed in system/xbin folder and i have deleted it.
and an unknown folder sbin is added in /sbin. and it is empty i have no root acess but when i m deleting it it is sucessfully deleted but when i comeback to / path it is added again
Now i m requesting you to please solve this problem and give me any app by which i can add xbin folder again in system/ with out root.and with out pc because i have not any pc...
thanks in advnce...
I hope you have a nandroid back up, otherwise it is going to be really hard to do with out a PC handy.
You will not be able to add File or folder in system even 3rd party app will not be able to write on system folder without root permission so try to full unroot the phone then again try to root so there is a chance of reinstalling binary again anyway don't you have nandroid backup?
how can i do nandroid backup
