If I wanted to go back to stock from SynergyROM, can I just go into CWM and wipe everything and restart?

What do you mean, by going back to stock? If you want to go back completely to factory stock, you must Oden and flash the stock Image or tar with it

OHH
So I have to use odin to flash back.
Another question, if I just wipe everything and restart my GS3, will it just go back to a clean SynergyROM r## that I installed?

just follow the directions here.
Yes sir. By doing a factory reset, it will only take you to a fresh clean rom (synergy)
I used this method and it works perfect!

Did you flash kexec then Beans? Also did you mess with the phone info settings at all?

I would back it up even before rooting or flashing anything...its easy and will save alot of headaches down the road.

Just using the terminal command?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
i flashed beans with cwm 6,0.1.0. i did back up my imei, i thought it was the same thing so i restored it with the terminal and rebooted and its still the same. and no i did not mess with any of the system settings all i did was wipe wipe wipe and flash and when it booted i had no signal
Edit: can you also explain how to flash kexec? i always thought that you had to have the kexec able recovery and it did it on its own.
Why does it say to not use the method on backing it up? Is there another method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791291

i used the terminal method and i think it worked haha i dont even know if that was my problem in the 1st place. but this is the method they recommend now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802024
Okay, I saw that. It doesn't show how to back it up just recover, I guess? So if I lose it I just go this route instead of backing it up? Sorry if that's confusing.

If you flashed beans r5 then you already have a kexec kernel.
I used the CWM to install CNA b4.zip, the Codename Android package.
Now all my phone does is boot into a menu that says:
install wipe
backup restore
mount settings
advanced reboot
How do I get into ICS?

sounds like he lost root. You will probably need to use heimdall one click to get back to kj6. Use the one I packaged that can be found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822626
Then flash to ICS and then to the rom you want.
I had this happen to me when I tried to flash CNA b4. No matter what I did I could not get out of recovery when trying to flash. I thought for sure I would have to go back to stock but I just fully wiped and reinstalled AOKP with no problems. It may have been a bad download or something but I had that issue as well.
so i want to reset my phone and erase everything but i dont know if i would have to re root my phone and install a rom again please someone help?
If you factory reset, you won't have to re-root, only reflash a ROM. Make sure you have a ROM and Gapps on the phone. Follow guidelines on opening page of the ROM you want flash. And maybe based on your question, read a little more or you might be back for more help in "unbricking" your phone.

Read this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523 I'd recommend option D for what I'm assuming you want. Good luck
I was adding a new rom to my phone when I accidentally hit reboot after I deleted everything off of it. Now when I try to flash stock onto it using odin it just vibrates every two seconds and doesnt do anything on the screen it's just black. Please help!!!
If your Odin flash finished successfully and that stuff is happening afterwards just pull the battery put it back in go to recovery and clear cache and factory reset. You you should be OK after that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I tried that. It just keeps vibrating and flashes samsung. it won't let me get to the recovery to clear it all. :crying:
Does it go to download mode? I hope it does. Flash a cwm tar recovery clean up and then flash stock again.

yes it does go into download mode. can you please post a link for that so I no Im putting the right thing onto it. sorry Im a noob lol
Just reflash your stock with Odin one more time and watch it finish successfully. If reflashing didn't work read the thread for restoring to stock by vincom. Everything you need is there and don't hesitate to read more and make sure you know what you're doing. Don't check any extra options in Odin either!

I used this thread by vincom to return to stock with ODIN when I had an issue with my S2 and worked like a charm.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
Been noticing some quirky behavior with my trusty ol' S2 lately.
The usual factory reset/wipe hasn't seemed to help.
Is there a way to basically "nuke" everything on the internal card, comparable to doing a format/OS reinstall on a PC?
Yes, odin the stock rom and wipe the internal sd card. See vincom's stickies in the development forum on how to return to stock. Read them carefully and more than once. Doing it wrong can brick your phone

Read through Vincom's excellent guide a couple of times and I didn't see anything about wiping the internal SD card.
Does that happen as part of the process of going back to stock?
I'm guessing I want to remove the card from the micro card slot before starting?

Use twrp to wipe the internal. It's a different wipe than factory reset or the caches. Flashing with odin will not wipe the card. If you have a card reader you could take it out and format it that way.

Should I replace CWM or does it have the same functionality?

If you already have cwm and want twrp, load it thru cwm. But if you odin a stock rom cwm won't be there anymore.

if you want cwm on stock the app from play wont work, same goes for twrp
best or only way to install cwm/twrp on stock is through odin
once either are installed you can flash either one through the custom recovery using the zip files for the recoveries
read about the recoveries in the Q&a forum sticky [HOWTO] THE ULTIMATE NEWB GUIDE > | INSTALL CWM/TWRP | ROOT | UNROOT |the SKYROCKET

OK, so I've read and re-read through all the steps and here's what I think I need to do...
1. Flash stock ATT radio using CWM (currently have CM10 and my understanding is that going back to stock via Odin will not restore radio).
2. Return to stock via Odin process.
3. Install TWRP via Odin process.
4. Return to joys of custom ROMs...
Did I miss something or have the order wonky?

you need to read more slowly lol, flashing stock firmware via odin restores everything including radio but flashing it first wont hurt if its for that firmware, but yes the steps are right but read the op of rom to see which radio works for said rom.

Somewhere in one of the guides I could swear there was a statement that going from CM10 back to stock would not reset the radio.
Anywho...
The process worked like a charm; many thanks to everyone who helped out.
The stock ROM loaded perfectly and I got TWRP on instead of CWM; I actually like it better than CWM now that I kicked the tires a bit on it.
I ended up putting the stock radio back over the CM10 version - not sure if it's just my area or AT&T voodoo but it works better for me.
The only gremlin this didn't fix was a problem with Pandora streaming. I stream it via Bluetooth in my car and when I skip or "thumbs down" about 50% time the stream signal is broken.
Bluetooth still shows it connected but it no longer plays and the phone audio is borked as well.
I'm wondering if this is a Pandora issue or maybe a CM10 and Pandora quirk..
