[Q] CM10 Turn Off LTE? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Anyone know how to turn off LTE in CyanogenMod 10?

Hi!
First, this is a question, so you should have posted your thread in the Q&A section, not in the General discussions forum. I've reported your message, hopefully a moderator will move the thread to the right place.
Now, you can disable LTE in CyanogenMod only if you are using an RAT-unlocked radio. The official AT&T radio is RAT-locked, so it won't work. Basically, that means you must have a Rogers phone or at least its radio, but I believe someone has posted a modified, unlocked version of AT&T radio. Do search a bit in the development forum, you should find the info you want.
If your radio is unlocked, go to System settings > More... (under Wireless & Networks) > Mobile networks > Network mode. Then, select either:
- LTE/GSM/WCDMA to connect to LTE when in a LTE-covered area, dropping to 3G/HSPA/HSPA+ when going out of an LTE-covered area;
- or GSM/WCDMA to always connect to 3G/HSPA/HSPA+, even when in an LTE-covered area.
Remember this only works with an RAT-unlocked radio.

Actually I was playing around with some settings and managed to get it to run 3G/HSPA/HSPA+
Go to [Settings -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network operators]
Click on ATT to reregister the network then switch it from lte to gsm/wcdma on Network Mode and it should work (at least for me it did twice and I can revert it back no prob) :good:

I don't have anything show up when I choose Network Operators. I have Automatically Choose and Search and neither produce any additional output. Any tips?
Thanks.
EDIT:
Now for the first time hours later I am able to Search and see AT&T! Upon choosing it I am able to disable LTE, even us the 2G mode. Awesome.

3G not showing on the ATT Fuze?

Hi, I did the hardreset to clear out all the bloatware from my ATT Fuze and now I dont ever see the 3G symbol?
I do see the H symbol but not the 3G. Also on Cellular Video, I cant get it to play. It says that it is only available on 3g phones....but I know that is phone is 3g.
Did I do something wrong or do I need to activate something?
"H" = HSDPA/HSUPA is better than 3G (plain Jane UMTS).
As for the video, probably since you skip the AT&T cusomization, AT&T MediaNet setting is not added yet.

Carl, thank you for the explanation. It was on MEdia Net and I followed your steps to delete the UN and PW.
But it is still showing the same thing. Here is the screen:

[Q] No Data Connection!

I have a SGS4G. Until yesterday I only had a prepaid voice plan, and I used wifi for data. Yesterday I signed up for a prepaid voice+data. I got a new sim which has been activated, voice+text works, and the account shows data is enabled.
However, I get no data (with the wifi off). The guy in the T-mobile store saw nothing wrong with the settings. Use packet data is checked under mobile network settings. The settings/phone/status shows mobil network state as disconnected, and there is no 3g/4g icon at the top of the display (just 4 bars).
Tech support sent resets a couple of times, and its been power cycled half a dozen time by now.
The guy in the store put my sim in his phone and it got data.
Tech support opened a ticket and said call them back in 3 days if it doesn't clear. I'm not optimistic.
I'm running straight Froyo KD1 via Kies, and the only hacks are root and cwm recovery.
Any ideas on how to get the cell data working?
Check if APN are set..
Settings > wireless and networking > mobile networks > access point names
if you're Tmobile, it should have one like this:
Tmobile internet
epc.tmobile.com
If there's no apn on the list, then you'll never get 3g 4g

Create a new one and use this info:

Apn: epc.tmobile.com
Apn type: Internet + MMS
The rest should be left as it is.

I tried it, but don't see a difference. Still no data (after a reboot). The only difference I see between the new and old one is that MMSC was set in the old one.
Try these values

Thanks for the suggestions, but the only variations are whether the MMSC is set, or the Authentication type is set. I've tried those variations with no luck.
Something else is wrong.

Don't use 'phone info' app with Jelly bean!!

I installed jelly bean rom, everything worked great but I went into Phone Info and noticed the preferred network was set to global. I went to change it to LTE/CDMA/EvDo, way wrong move! App crashed and I ended up with the a circle and slash symbol. The phone info app got set to WDCMA preferred. I was somehow after a few tries able to get CMDA PRL AUTO to take and get 3G back. Messed with it for an hour, rebooted, reflashing the modem, turning radio off and trying to change it but I couldn't even get it back to the Global setting. As a last ditch attempt before nandroiding backup to ICS where I hoped phone app would once again work. I turned off the phone, ejected the SIM card, turned the phone back on it gave me the (SIM card error, this phone can only be used for emergency, etc). While the phone was still on I push the sim card back into position (not sure if it was necessary to keep the phone on or not, it didn't detect the SIM when I inserted it. Anyway I rebooted, and BINGO 4G was back!! Took a quick peak Phone Info app and my preferred network was set to LTE\CDMA\EvDo and I quickly closed the app before I touched anything again!
This is changeable in the settings mobile data on jb leak 2

No H or H+ data

I'm having a weird issue in which I only get H+ data on the first boot after flashing the stock ROM. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can try to check these options below:
1 - Go to Settings / SIM Cards - choose your SIM and check the Preferred Network Type
2 - Check with your service provider if you have hired any data packet or anything, the LTE option may be disabled by them.
3 - Check if this is not a common bug in custom rom.
4 - Perhaps the day today is without a network signal, it is in passing.
I hope even if it is not hardware failure in their slots, I hope I have helped.

This is what I get after flashing factory images.
Phone info shows:
Neighboring CID: []
GSM service: In service
GPRS service: Disconnected
Network type: HSPAP,Unknown
And this is what I get after a reboot.
Phone info now shows:
Neighboring CID: no neighboring cells
GSM service: In service
GPRS service: Connected
Network type: UMTS,Unknown
The original firmware it came with doesn't have this bug, but I don't have a backup.
Also, I don't have LTE signal because my XT1543 doesn't support band 2 which my carrier uses. Has anyone had any luck enabling LTE bands?

I had a similar problem. You can enter in to engineer menu *#*#4636#*#* and swith "GSM only" to "WCDMA"
and it works good: H+(3G) and LTE (4G)

It automatically goes back to GSM.

Huawei P20 disable 2G?

Hello i want to aks is there a possibility to disable 2g and leave 3g/4g only? I enabled option to see many types of networks, but when i switch to lte/wcdma only he resset to lte/wcdma/gsm... Many other types doesent work except 3g only and lte only. Anyone maybe fogureout why is that so?
Don't do it. Afaik it's like this: If a phone is capable to use 4G/LTE it will always use 4G till it's not available anymore. Then it will switch to 3G and if 3G get's lost too it will use 2G then. So 2G is only in use when the other "G's" are not available. When you disable this network and 3G and 4G are unavailable you'll have no data at all. Or did I misunderstood your question?
Yes, but i always have 3g. But sometime he bug and stay on 2g so i need to use airplane mod on and off and he ****ch to 3 or 4 g from 2g. Thats why i want to have a option to disable 2g

Thank you very much. But the link should already have been in your first post! The screenshot alone isn't very helpful without the instructions to activate this very special menu.
Same problem and that's not helpful. 2G is very not security for now. I want choose no signal rather than 2G

The issue is not relevant since 2017.
According to the media news and Wikipedia 2G has been superseded by newer technologies such as 2.5G, 2.75G, 3G, 4G and 5G; however, 2G networks are still used in most parts of the world. Various carriers have made announcements that 2G technology in the United States is in the process of being shut down so that carriers can reclaim those radio bands and re-purpose them for newer technologies (e.g. 4G LTE).
Honestly for two years I haven't seen 2G on my device even when traveling. The rest of the countries who still might be using it will shut it down soon.
