a nephew of mine dropped it on its top right corner. it isn't that bad since it's still functioning properly and can only be noticed if you run your fingers on it. is there a way to openthe back cover to fix his?

You might wanna look up a tear down video where they take it apart, it'll void your warranty, but if you really want to fix it that'll be your best bet to find out what's the problem

The screen just snaps down in the backing.take a credit card start at the top in the middle and gently pry it up

what kind of glue should I use to apply to the back of the glass once it's off?

Oh idk that.it really shouldn't need glue unless one of the tabs are broke and won't snap back into place.

By the way from what I read, taking the cover off doesn't void the warranty

G2X screen bleed fix

All you need to do to fix the screen bleed is loosen the screws on the back of the phone. Ya'll are crazy taking multiple trips to tmobile, picking up all these phones and having the same problem everytime. Man, such an easy fix for such a huge fiasco.
I might add, it may be necessary to get further inside the phone to loosen screws. That would of course mean breaking the "void" sticker covering one of the screws. I haven't tried this yet, but loosening the outer screws did a lot of good for now.
If anyone has a teardown of the g2x, post it! this would be greatly helpful.

Legit picture before and after or video of the before and after.
Is anyone willing to attempt to open up their G2X and see if they can fix the problem?
Yes before and after with pictures please. Thanks!
Loosening the screws won't help with the light bleed though since it's due to an improper sealing of the lcd panel. Tightening or loosening the screws won't change that.
As for the actual backlight bleed effect, I'm pretty sure that's a result of the light bleed but I'm not 100% sure so if anyone is brave enough to try it, it would be much appreciated.
WHat youre saying makes no sense. How will loosening the screws fix any screen bleed issue? I think you should explain better because this doesnt sound very plausable. WHat in actuality is causing the screenbleed to disapear?
UNless somehow you are re-adjusting the case, which in turn actually covers the outer edge of the screen better, thereby eliminating "screenbleed", what you are saying is ridiculous. I would think loosening the screws would have the opposite effect.
seriously, specifics and step by step on what you did would be greatly appreciated by the rest I'm sure as this seems to be a major defect in the phone.
I personally have zero screen bleed, unless I turn up the brightness to 100% and then its very very minor in the top left.

Step by step? 1) put screw driver in screw and turn lefty loosy 2) repeat step for other screws.
The logic behind this process is to remove pressure on the corners of the screen. If you push down in the middle of the screen, you get screen bleed in the middle. So, if you pull back a bit on the inside housing (after back cover is removed and screws are loosened), you can see the screen bleed move around and sort of disappear.
I guess it's possible that the bleed is caused by too much pressure? Improperly torqued screws? I'd say the theory is plausible but it doesn't bother me enough to try. Thanks for the info OP!
The OP is a LG Rep trying to get ppl to void their warranty so they don't have to replace them. This is stupid!

That actually does make sense cuz i think he re edit his post saying it will void the warranty and when I first looked at the post it didn't have thy part as I recall
My void sticker is on the middle screw so just for kicks I went ahead and loosened the top left screw. Did absolutely nothing. This thread needs to be locked for misinforming users.
Can someone else try this please. I don't expect anyone to void there warranty to see if this works but if you just loosen the outside screw it will not void your warranty. I don't have a screw driver small enough. This doesn't sound plausible but it does make me curious. If nobody does it tonight, I will buy a smaller screw driver tomorrow and try it.
Before doing this, you may want to peek what's inside from FCC:
http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/fcc_query.php?gc=BEJ&pc=P999DW
Choose "details", then open "internal photos".

yea tried it, this does nothing.
I would be more then happy to take apart my phone. however the link provided with the photos is not enough to go on and disassembly it gets me to the core but it seems to stop there.

Hahahahahahaha! This right here is the quality posting I expect from XDA. Good loving Lord.
well, i'm not sure about your phones, but my G2x does not have the "void" sticker over the screw holes....
when removing the battery cover all the screws are accessible... is the "void" sticker maybe under the cover beneath the battery cover?

Dust under the screen issue, wrong to return to bestbuy?

I bought the asus tf101-1a on black friday. I noticed dust was settling in on the bottom on the screen and returned it and had to go thru hell just to get them to exchange for a tf101-a1. Now after 2 hours of having it,big build up of dust on the bottom right and a dead pixel and i just opened it up!! Am i wrong to go back to bestbuy and explain my case and get yet another replacement?

We've all heard the old saying "The customer is always right." Sadly, that's not always the case. I agree you deserve a unit you are satified with, no doubt. But consider the possibly the "perfect" tab doesn't exist? Not saying you should not pursue a return, mind you but I recall a few months back when Some people were complaining of light bleed. How did they see the light bleed? Went into a room completely dark, turned down their screens then looked. Now, how many users actually DO this in normal use? I guess I'm saying only you can decide what is "acceptable" or "not acceptable". Also, keep in mind BB has a "Frequent Return Policy" where they track and ban returns from chronic return-ers. Just sayin'
IMO the dead pixel would be more an issue than dust but then I can't see what you see!
Good luck!
Well i just opened the tf and the dead pixel was right there. Ive nver returned anything from there,it looks like black dots on the screen where the dust is. The purpose of a tablet is the size and resolution and difference from a android phone. I love the tablet, but nowhere do i read others having this issue. Wether i paid $249 or $399, i feel i deserve to have a tablet experience without the non sense. Thanks for your advice

Of course return it. If it is a dead pixel...Asus QA is doing something wrong. The fact that you have dust could lead to more dust. Once the warranty is over, you'll have to pay out of your pocket to fix it, if there is such a problem.
Yes there is,i exchanged the product and got home at 930ish and opened it up and immeditately i saw it. Then i turned it on and bam a dead pixels. One dead pixel without use of the tablet means fauty lcd and heavy dust only means more dust as u said (htc sensation days). Hell as i type the power button is rattling.

Dust under the glass is extremely irritating! Luckily, its super simple for us to clean the back side of the glass as the Transformer has two extremely accessible hex screws near the charging port. Remove them, and you can easily take the glass out and clean it (or just blow air through it and seal back up)
I made it about 6 months before I started to notice the dust behind the glass... the rear camera however gets obscured by dust relatively quickly and requires me to take the cover off and clean the backside of the camera lens about once a month.
So, the dust is a simple fix. The dead pixel however, that sucks. I'd return it for that, or have Asus warranty it at this point since Best Buy is probably fresh out of stock..
hopefully you get it sorted out. The Transformer is a great device! I love mine!
Its the tf101-a1 model and i didnt know its simple to disassemble, thank u. But what are the odds of geting a worse case of dust by doing this procedure?

Teardown link
basically removing the screws by the connector will allow you to remove the bezel, which will expose the inside. Should be pretty easy from there I think. Just use compressed air
Does opening the transformer up void its warranty?
Cause I wouldn't want to void it over a speck of dust really.

I know this is an older thread, but I just noticed an annoying dust buildup in my TF101, just under the glass (middle part of the screen...) and wondered if I could clean it myself. A Google search provided several links to help crack the tablet open, but none mentioned how to actually remove the glass from the screen. How exactly can this be done, without nuking the digitizer? Any insights would be welcome, thanks.

Broke?

If you lay your infinity down flat on the table, is it totally flat?
I can slide a credit card under the middle part, but not the end, my back is curved a bit.
Can yall check to see if yours are totally flat? Just bought mine new at best buy a few days ago
Thanks in advance

Hmmm.
take a picture if you can.
See now the wall is red, and if you look closely, you can see the wall between the tablet and counter
Pics here
Is this causing any sort of problem? If not, I wouldn't worry about it - it looks to be *very* minor... I don't know how you guys even notice these things!

I noticed it because the glass was raised, then I pushed it back in, then noticed it was bent a tad
The tablet works fine, but occasionally the screen will blackout.... Wait.... Then reboot
So wondering if it's a bad ics, but I accepted the latest updates, or if some internal things went wrong from the bending

If your glass is raised you need to return your unit for a new a one. This is a known issue and could eventually lead to a cracked screen.

Take it back and exchange for another. You got a lemon. Asus is not known for their quality control.

how would you remove the plastic film that comes with the tablet

it was a stupid decision that i decided to not remove the plastic film that came with the tablet. (on all smartphones or tablets they always put a plastic film on the device so that it can prevent dust and stuff, samsung even puts some processor, ram information on it)
after months of using it now i want to remove it so i can put the screen protector on it, or at least i want to remove it because it seems collect too much dust and fingerprint and make the touch screen harder to use. but it's "glued" and i can't remove it now.
i tried using fingernails and clear tape but couldn't remove it.
does anybody have any idea of what i can do? thanks

Well I would guess that you will have to heat it up a bit to get it to come off and you may have to use a bit more force than you might like.
Damn that's not good at all dude. It sounds like the screen protector was exposed to some heat and melted to your screen. I would call the manufacturer and tell them everything and maybe they will send you a new one. Good luck!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Just peel what you can off and use some sort of cleaning solution to gently rub off the residue. You would think the plastic comes off pretty easily, but if left on for too long, I've seen this happen on more than a few occasions.

Cracked screen

It's on the left side of my phone, the root of the crack is as far left on the edge as possible. It's not a huge deal and it's the first time I've cracked a screen but it's a bit of a nuisance. Is there a way to fix it for no more than $15? And I only want to pay to fix it if it's 100% fixed

Yeah, there is. I did it yesterday. Go on amazon and look for "galaxy s3 glass". Be sure to get some 3M tape with it.
Watch videos on how to replace it. You'll need a hairdryer, some sort of thin metal plate, and a piece of packing tape.
