Hey Guys,
I got my phone back from HTC repair and have flashed the newest firmware, S-OFF and CM9 using CWM 6 onto my device. I have done this procedure about 100 times on many different devices so I know the process off by heart now. Unfortunately the phone battery drained to 0% and now when I plug in the phone to charge, the red light comes on as if charging for about 10 seconds then goes off and CWM 6 appears. I can't boot into the bootloader/fastboot by pressing the Vol Down + Power or by restarting the system through the CWM. Everytime I reboot the phone CWM appears immediately.
Is it bricked? The phone just won't charge when CWM is up on the screen.
I have tried using adb to reboot to bootloader and running:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
The bootloader SOMETIMES appears, otherwise it just reboots into CWM.
Has anyone else had this issue? And if so what steps should I take?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Take out the sim card and the sd card.
Leave the phone on charge for several hours.
Or, take out the battery and use a stand alone charger for several hours.

Hey
Thanks for the advice however even on a standalone charger it still has the same symptoms.
I currently have it without Sim and SD Card but CWM comes up no matter what so it isn't really charging. After a while though, the phone turns off but the light isn't on (as to indicate it is charging). Very frustrating.
Will report back after several hours.

Hey thanks,
Unfortunately when I plug it in, it switches on automatically and immediately goes to CWM. This happens on standalone charger, and usb charger. There is no 'Power Down' option in CWM only reboot. so its not a case of me leaving it off. Don't touch the power button
Cheers
Edit: so the phone has been on charge all day and still the same, won't switch on unless it is plugged in. Looks like o2 have screwed up while repairing it. Have to send it back
I once had a situation where my device would not boot at all, charge light would not come on. I switched out the battery to a different one and device booted As well as charged. I know your situation is different but it might not hurt to just try. Before you send it back out . It couldn't hurt to try....however I have a feeling your issue is more complicated than mine but it just might help. If no joy, then no harm done but do give it a shot before you return it. It could make a difference! It sure won't hurt to try! Best wishes to you! Hopefully you get this issue solved soon . It's strange but I've heard of several stories of phone not booting or charging when battery is ran to zero. Kind of makes me Afraid to run to zero in fear it won't boot again. I do wonder what causes this? I just try and never run mine to zero again! But do give another battery a try. It can't hurt to try. Good luck.

Alright this is now solved. Got the new battery popped it in. Formatted /system, performed factory reset/wipe data (in CWM), cleared cache, Dalvik and battery statistics then re-flashed CM9 then rebooted... Working perfectly! Clearly a battery issue, O2 must have fried the old one while repairing my phone.
Thank you so much for your help, and now I have a much better battery for my phone... so I thank you for that too!
Your very welcome ! It happened to me too so I figured it would also work for you. It really scared me though because my device wouldn't even show a charge light! I'm so happy the new battery also worked for you ! Very happy to have helped!

Can Anyone Help Me...Yesterday I Accidentally Try to Restore A Custom Rom On My DINC 2 ,While The Battery Was Low...The Custom Rom I Was Trying To Restore Was ArticICSed RC1.Everysince Then I Can't get a Charge. Plus On Top Of That..I Powered Down To Recovery Mode( CWR) ..and I Did A full wipe/cache/dalvick/bat stats. after that i rebooted back up and it flashed my splash screen..then the custom boot animation...then it went to htc logo screen...then to the set up screen...but i didnt set up...i booted back down..now im getting nothing but the custom rom animation screen....and then it goes black screen while the orange noticication light is blinking...when you plug in the usb cable to charge the led light is stable. i cant get any charge what so ever...i can boot down...i can boot to cwr..i can boot to hboot and all of that. i can reboot...but after i pass the splash screen and get to custom animation screen it just hangs and the screen goes black. should i buy another battery to jump start it and flash another rom? or buy another usb/charger cable to see if that's the problem? i dont know anymore. i had the phone on charge all night...still red light indicator...what can i do?
Have you tried completely wiping it again since you stopped the process mid-stream the first time ?
From CWM recovery:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Go into Mounts and Storage :
Format/System
Format/Cache
Format/Data
Under Advanced wipe the others in Advanced Dalvik/battery for s***s and giggles. Fix Permissions
Reboot.
I feel for ya dude, hope you can get it up and running.

Afaik if the battery won't charge, then inserting a fully charged battery won't help either.
You might try to connect it to Knoppix-System and flash it from there, (Sry, but I don't know how exactly to do this with DINC2) but you will probably have to send it to where you got it from and pray for fair repairing costs.
bummer

Incorrect. The phone is not bricked. The OP has stated he is able to get to hboot, and recovery. The OP's best bet is to either get an external charger, or borrow someone else's FULLY charged battery, and reboot into CWM. Once there, wipe data/factory reset, and your cache partition. Once that is done reflash the ROM and let it finish this time. After this is done, and you've gone through the setup, perform a NANDROID backup using CWM.

Right, had a similar problem with my sensation;
The battery died during flash, many android devices will not charge their battery until the phone is almost fully booted. As I had no Rom I could not boot with the 10 seconds battery charge I get before boot animation loads. I don't think it charged in HBoot or CWM recovery at the time, new recoveries allow charging. Using another device to charge your battery or wall charger is your only hope (except for new battery), luckily for me my girlfriend let me use her Evo 3D to charge my battery. Unfortunatly she won't let me root it
Any way, try the points I stated

HTC Sensations discharge while hot, by sending unused power to a plug it doesn't have to circulate and end up back in the battery, therefor cooling the circuits.

Yes...I Followed Each And Everyone Solutions...Got a Brand New.. Battery ...and did all my wipes/dalvick cache/fix permissions and ran a nandroid backup. and restore the rom i was trying to flash. I Did all of that...Booted Up...Then all of a sudden i'm getting drains (battery), The new battery that i put in had 61% of life. So I plugged in my charger to my DINC 2 while it was on...and i've noticed that the battery was charging,,,but not charging increasingly but decreasing by increments. So I noticed This and i unplug The Charger from my Phone and I Powered down (off). I plugged the charger back to my phone...so i started to charge the phone while it was off. so about 30 minutes went by..i unplugged the charger from my phone, powered back up....i looked at the battery icon...and the battery life went from 61% to 50%...Is This Normal... Now I'm Back to square one...My Battery (NEW) is DEAD AGAIN....I Try To Charge It...All I'm Getting Is Orange Blinks Off And On....Can Someone Tell Me What's Going On,,,,Is Their a Fix For This...If Not...I might Have to Unroot and try to get me another Phone..I Dont Want To Do It...Right now I See No Hope...I've just Ordered 2 more 1500Mah Li-ion Batteries and a External Charger from ebay..It ll b Here Sometime This week...Can Someone Help or have any suggestions...Im Open to any responses...Thank You!!! 2 weeks ago I have bought a HTC Sensation, branded by Vodafone, LOCKED, S-ON, HBOOT 1.27, firmware 3.32, everything works.
I have done S-OFF via juopunutbear , superCID, debranded, firmware 3.33, latest radio, and 4ext recovery.
I have tried many ROMs like: ARHD, Pyromod, AOKP, CM10, official CM9 stable, ViperS, and OpenSensation.
I have also tried many KERNELs : SebastianFM, faux132, bricked kerlnel, DragunKernel and tamcore.
OpenSensation and tamcore were last working.
Last night I have installed HyperNonSense-v3.4 , but it don't load. It's only show a HTC logo and restart.
So, i press Vol - and enter bootloader. Select recovery and it normally boot into 4ext recovery. I have battery charged only to 30%.
It was late night and i was tired. So i put my phone on table, DON'T TURN OFF and go sleep. (08 september 1:25 AM)
(9:25 AM) When i wake up, i see only 3% charged battery. So i go have a breakfast but when i come to bedroom, my sensation was OFF.
(8:15 PM) A half hour ago i put Sensation on charger, but LED don't turn ON.
I can't turn on my phone.
Tried to remove battery and other things many times.
But i still CAN'T TURN ON!!!
PLEASE, can SOMEONE HELP ME???

i don't know if it helps but pull out the battery again, also take out sim and sdcard and charge the device as it is for 5-6 hours
then put them again and try to turn it on
best wishes to you

I have heard of this happening A LOT with this device. It makes me afraid to death to EVER let my battery run down all the way! I'm wondering if it isn't some sort of "bug" the sensation has ? I've personally read of this happening at least ten times! I'm wondering what causes this? People say there device is running perfectly fine then battery runs down and it won't turn back on! Too many people with the same story to be a fluke thing... Some had success with charging without sd and sim for several hours then replacing sd and sim and put back on charger for a while. I hope this helps and wish you the best.

Ok to actually put some knowledge behind this instead of people guessing whats wrong:
Good news is the phone isnt bricked.
Basically htc build in some code that means if the battery runs completly flat, it wont turn on again until it is charged to at least 30 % - it doesnt even power on the charging LED.
Trust me, I have had this problem myself but after charging for a few hours it should turn on

I used this method to root, flash CWM Recovery, and unlocked the bootloader.
http://youtu.be/6-tQ05Zo_9U
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1974114
Everything went well. I then flashed "The Executioner 2" Rom. Again, everything was fine I was running the Rom for about 2/3 hours. All of a sudden, I was texting and boom, my phone turns to a black screen. Keep in mind at this time my phone is at about 18% battery when it happened. I managed to boot into CWM. I was wiping everything like I would if I was gonna flash a rom + go to restore back up. I factory/data wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, BOOM black screen again. Couldn't boot up normally. Tried to get into CWM, no go, just vibrating and black screen. Tried getting into download mode, no go just vibrating with black screen. Now my phone ain't even charging if I have the USB in. It seems completely dead. Any ideas or do I have to tell Verizon I lost my phone?

I have my phone sitting and the charger in. There's no red LED or any battery icon to show that it's charging. You know how normally when you turn your phone off, there's still something that indicates you that the phone is charging when you have it plugged in. In my case, it's just a black screen. It's like the phone is dead?
this happened to me once, it was the battery dead and no led when plugged in or anything. Let it sit on the charger for like 30 mins then unplug it and try to boot it.

Should I try to boot up into custom recovery or download/odin mode? If it's possible I want to fix the brick and just flash my phone back to stock for now. The last thing I want is to have a bricked device. I saved up, sold my Razr Maxx, and paid full price off contract for this phone. Yep, all that down the drain if my phone is bricked. I really appreciate the replies guys, it makes me feel better whether my phone can be saved or not.
I can't remember if it's that rom or not, I look at so many threads but there have been a few reports of major battery drops. Search the thread.

Well I would try to get my hands on another battery and see if it will work then. If not and it really just died take it to Verizon and tell them you were sending a text and it shut off. That sound like hardware failure to me.

I know. At that time I didn't think of the battery, I was just in a panic to get out of the problem.
I think I got somebody to barrow me their GS3 battery tomorrow. IF, the phone lets me boot into anything, what should I do? I don't know which method I should use for fixing the soft brick because there's more than one? I just want to fix it and odin back to complete stock unrooted again.
Reflash your ROM and once it boots up go back to factory rom

If I helped you in some way.... pass on the favor and help the next person!
Happened to me too..Pretty sure its the battery. When mine shut off, I tried different chargers and nothing.. I tried a combo of things like pulling battery while charging and just leaving the battery out for a couple minutes and then plugging it in till you get a red charging light. When it lights up , let it charge and then restore. Good luck..

I am hoping that it's just the battery being dead and not a hard brick on my phone. I don't understand what happened that made my device do this in the first place? Everything seemed fine. No hiccups when rooting, flashing, ect. I ran the rom for a good few hours. Out of no where BAM, black screen while I was texting?

It misjudged the battery life (ie the percentage was wrong). Then it realized what was happening then shut off the device to protect the battery.

Your phone isn't bricked....your battery is dead.
Let it charge with a WALL charger for at least 30-60 mins. Walk away. Come back, HOLD just the power button until it boots. Let go. Enjoy your "unbricked" device. Why would you want to go into Odin or CWM without even seeing if it boots? A hard brick wouldn't do anything. Just see what happens. If it bootloops or has constant system.ui closes you'll know it. Then go into recovery and either:
1) rewipe/reflash ROM
2) restore functional backup
Please change the title of this thread. You didn't brick. Your battery died. Lol. TW ROMs on this phone have been known to die with 18-23% on the battery gauge. 23 is my number It's happened to a few of us.

As I let my phone sit with the charger in while I went to sleep, twisting and turning thinking F*****ck lol. A lot of you guys were right. It WAS my battery. I am now able to boot up into recovery
I'm hoping some of you wise heads on here might be able to help me out with a problem that has got me totally and utterly stumped!
Last week I was using my One X and noticed the battery was down to aorund 14%. I plugged it into a charger and nothing happened...no light...nothing. I tried various different chargers and cables to pc etc and nothing seemed to do anything.
After leaving the phone plugged into the mains for a few hours, I noticed that a very slow/long flashing red/amber light appeared. It kind of stays on for 5 seconds and then off for the same amount of time. I left the phone in this state for about 14 hours and when turning on it would say battery was somewhere between 0%, 1% and 2% and would promptly switch itself off.
I messed about for hours on end trying many different button combinations, sim in/out and came to this bizarre conclusion.........If I plug the phone into the mains for a few minutes, then press power and volume down to get to the HBOOT menu then hold power in again to reboot, the phone reboots into the OS and is functional. It still reads as having 0% or 1% battery and shows as not charging, but it must be getting some juice for it to be working. If I leave the phone in this state for a while I can then unhook it from the charger and use it as normal, even though battery is displaying as 0%. I can use the phone like this for some time, although the battery does not appear to last as long.
Also, the phone is not recognised at all by the PC when plug in via usb when in android os - nothing at all shows in device manager, but it is recognised from the fastboot menu and tries to install device drivers.
Has anybody got any clue if I can save my HOX or am I without a paddle?? Many thanks in advance

Is your phone completely Stock? or is it bootloader unlocked/rooted? I'm pretty positive this is a hardware issue, you can rule it out by RUUing if you're Stock. If you're not stock, you can still RUU but if you should S-OFF first.

Thanks for the quick repIy. I was hoping you weren't going to say a hardware issue :crying: The phone is totally stock and unrooted. This might be a stupid question, but if I RUU will I lose all the data on my phone? Also any idea which RUU to use? My HOX is an unlocked, unbranded version bought in the UK.

Sorry for the bad news, I would repost in the international one x forum as you have a different phone as us Quad core VS Dual core. I don't think the response will be much different but they should also have the proper RUU links for your phone. Good Luck.
Ok I'll do that. Thanks for the advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Hello there!
I have same issue, but when I flash a kernel. I flashed the AlexV 2.4 RC kernel and usb masstorage works again. BUT becuse I wipe battery status some times now if y boot the phone chargin, it sais that is chargin, but when I disconnect the cable still chargin
Anyway, I have HTC One X tegra 3 quadcore from argentina. And all this chargin issues is about the kernel/rom tweaks. If you boot on recovery and the phone charge ok (sho the led) and the mount of the sd on recovery works, its 100% rom/kernel problem.

Hello,
I am an owner of HTC Sensation, rooted with Android Revolution 7.3.
My phone has ~1,5 years, since its first days i was using Android Revolution ROM, never had any problem.
Today, my phone first lost signal. Itcould not connect to any mobile network so I tried to restart it, when i got back to it after 5 minutes, the phone was stuck on beats audio logo and when i touched it, it felt very hot, it was never that hot even I used it for hours playing some games or browsing internet. (I think it was processor, down side of the phone, below battery, but because of that battery got a bit hotter too) I had to pull off the battery, I've waited till it got cold and tried to run again but rom was not working so i reflashed it from my sd card, after the next restart (phone did not get hot) when phone was checking installed apps, it simply turned itself off. Before battery showed around 80% charged, after reinstall 30% and it happened in max 10 minutes ,but after that shut down I could not turn it on. LED was not working, I tried pulling off battery, charging it, charging without abttery then connecting it, trying to reboot with abs but PC could not see the device.
The only thing I noticed, when i was trying tocharge it for the first time, processor was getting hotter but LED was not working, but then, it simply went cold.
I have no idea what I could do more here, it looks like hardware problem but te only thing i could not check was putting a new battery and try it then. Is there anything I can do more about it?
For any help, thank you.
PS: When the phone 'died' it was using faux123's 1,5 GHz kernel which came with the ROM. AsI said, before this event, everything was working perfectly, no sign of this incoming event. No restarts, freezes or crashes.
*If it matters, i was charging phone every 4-5 days, never let it go below 10%, bettery is from HTC EVO 1730mAh (original).
can you boot to the bootloader?
if yes do it and select from there reboot
see how it goes

try this
remove battery, sim and sdcard and charge as it is for 4-5 hours
put them back and switht it on
see how it goes
also give it a try with a different battery
if everything fails then try this

Re-tried these methods, hoped I had done soemthing wrong before. I saw the artice before, was hoping there are different ways to revive the phone. Tried this, says device not found. Looks like the only method would be this JTAG box but it's a bit expensive or try to send it to repair.
Anyway thank you for your time, I appreciate it.
-And if I might ask, any idea why the phone heated up itself on nearly last startup as I mentioned in my thread? It would be allright if the phone just died before this event, now it just makes me think there might be bigger hardware problem which just caused the death and it's not worth repair.
