ie favorit as live tile? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
is there a possibility to pin the ie-favorites as pin at the start-screen? (not the single page!! all favorites to select..)
I'm looking for a tool to do this .. but i can't find it.
Thank you!

Interesting idea. It would be possible to write an (unofficial, homebrew) app to do so - the list of favorites isn't too hard to find - but I don't think there's any official API for doing so. As far as I know, nobody has written any such app yet, but it would actually be relatively simple.

basic4android development tool

Hi all,
I searched here on Android forum but I did'nt find any reference to this very nice development tool:
http://www.basic4ppc.com/
does someone of you know it? what do you think about it?
I find it very interesting, special for people (like me) that has some programming skill but not a specific java knowledge... it costs a reasonable price (starting from 39$) and it seems really powerfull, with a very original integrated designer tool... I'm thinking to buy it... I would like to have your dev's impressions and evaluations...
[mod edit]
I am using it and I think it is an excellent development tool.
Takes a lot lesser time than Java and if you are familiar with VB or any other Basic, then you will be up to speed in no time.
Besides they have very good support.
Any more reviews? I'm very interested in this application.
love it
personally i love it. the fact that its fast (and uses basic ) . its just a great program. they also added error support for your internal coding mistakes....so they are really moving forward...if your a student you can get a %50 discount on the enterprise edition . ( i did )
i had the same issue
thank you guys for sharing
I am also interested
I am just learning to make apps, I literally have no experience yet. Would Basic4android be good for the type of app I'm trying to make?
I am needing to make a fairly simple, mostly text-based app, kind of like a user manual/instruction guide. Key features I am needing for this app would be:
*a "find" like CTRL+F to find words or phrases
*an index to jump to specific sections
*rip/copy protection so people can't steal the text and put it on a different device or computer
*smooth scrolling and fit-to-screen text
I know nothing about coding but I am very willing to learn! if this program makes it more simple, please let me know!

Basic for android could and would work. It is based off of visual basic. Which is a windows based code format...
I would recommend learning JAVA. Basic for Android is mostly for people who already Know visual basic....such as myself...
Learn Java. There are MANY xda tutorials on it.

[4.1+] Writeily Pro: Markdown Text Editor

Hey XDA,
Longtime lurker, but first time poster here. I just launched my new app, Writeily Pro, this past weekend, and I'd love it if you guys checked it out and gave me some feedback .
Here's the Play Store link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.writeily.pro
If you like it, I'd also appreciate the rating to help give the app exposure! Also, the app is open sourced on GitHub here:
https://github.com/jffrymrtn/writeily-pro
And last but not least, I intended originally to charge for the app and make it paid. But a lot of my past Writeily (the original one) users said they'd rather it be free, while some said they'd donate if they could. So, I set up a separate "donate" version of the app, which is identical to Writeily Pro (except it's red). I just thought I'd put it out here since I don't have a link to Donate in the app yet, so if any of you would like to help out, here it is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.writeily.donate
Let me know how it is! Thanks XDA
This is really neat, thanks! As much as I love Markdown, I'm wondering if adding other markup languages is planned (it might be out of scope if you consider Writeily a Markdown only app), such as reStructredText, which I find better than Markdown for longer documents?
The PIN setup needs improvement. No double entry to prevent typos?
When unlocking there is no mechanism to undo wrong entry. The only way is to hit enter and re try.
No scroll capability. Once the screen is full, it does not scroll up. Can't see what I typed!
Getting the same issue with the document not scrolling here. Don't get it on the non-pro version so perhaps it's something to do with the extra keyboard row.
It's a nice looking clean material app but would need Dropbox integration if it's going to make me switch from Draft which is my current editor.
Look forward to see where you go with it.

Thanks, but I'm talking about markup languages, not "spoken" languages.
Are you considering adding tags functionality? and filter with tags?
Thanks
it will be nice to make it that you can write note with stylus pen behind keyboard..
Writeily
just wanted to say thanks for the app & the hard work. I'm giving it a try. The reviews are great & can't wait to try it!

Thanks.
With tags, I could forget folders, or having to write a note in a specific folder or having to change it to a different one... I could even have two notes, with some tags in common and others not (impossible with folders).
Also, is it possible to do a bulk import/export and not just one txt file at a time?
Finally, about the added keyboard row (nice): it would be great if it were optional or hidden/unhiden with a swipe (it can take a lot of space on smaller screens, and sometimes you just don't really need it).
The preview function is awesome. Thanks for your app and work!
nice app,worth a try
thanks,
New update. Now I can scroll. Can I have the files sort by name? Please? Thank you

I have enjoyed using this app for many months, but was disheartened to see development discontinued. The timing is awkward: I just opened a GitHub account with intent to fork it once I learn my way around. On my hard drive, I've added many of the extra features I've long been waiting for: Tables, highlighting, LaTeX Math through MathJax, etc. But I'm not yet confident that I can use GitHub proficiently, since I've only signed up an account just a week ago.
Any suggestions how I should begin rebooting its development?

A beginner programmer - with a few questions

Hi developers,
I started to -try- and develop an app for my fun, and a few questions came up to my mind - obviously they're not too relevant to me at this point, but I'd like it to be more clear:
1) Do I need to backup my code to websites like GitHub? Or I should save it on personal storage so it will be private? (Or both?)
2) I am learning from an Android development tutorial, so what happens if the app is actually successful, and there would be a demand for it on iOS or other operating systems? Does that mean the app idea might be stolen and be made for iOS and I will have nothing to do with it? Or it can actually happen even within Android (idea theft)
2.1) Regarding the above concern: I was thinking about learning to develop Hybrid apps, but heard they're not too good right now, are there any examples of decent Hybrid apps now?
Thanks,
Pan
you can develop both android app and ios app simultaneously.

Thank you!
But how exactly? Hybrid apps? Or there are migration tools from Java to Objective-C / Swift ? I mean, developing alone for both languages should be quite hard isn't it? (Not talking about me, but even for skilled developers)

As far as i know, there are many programmers including me write native codes for both ios android app.
Of course, it takes double time.
I never thought it's an easy task to develop an app.

Wow Thank you! I didn't really think that's the case, so I guess I should focus on 1 language now (Java) before studying Swift as well!

Hermit Lite Apps Browser Feedback

Happy New Year Everyone ! Has anyone heard of / use this app: https://hermit.chimbori.com/ ? And if so what are your thoughts about it, I have it installed on my phone & I'm trying it out. The concept behind it is pretty interesting, I was just trying to obtain some possible feedback about it.
Thanks,
David

Sorry for the late feedback. I ve just discovered it.
I m giving it a try and i m very happy with it. The app is lightweight and stable. Since Maki app was discountinued, i tried many apps like Folio, hootsuite, metal... hermit is for me the the only one that suits to my needs. Otherwise, many reddit users advise it.
The web monitor option is the only thing i can t manage to understand. Indeed, i looking for how to receive alerts notifications on xda for example and it is a pain because i don t know the css language despit reading the help page one the hermit website.
I continue to investigate and i think i m not the only one in this case. If i find the right way to obtain notification inside hermit, i will back to give the solution.
If you have some specific questions, don t hesitate. I will be glad to give you my feedback.
