Verizon is selling the 7.7 certified pre owned for I think $280 and new for $400. Wondering if its worth buying a refurbished tablet or would it cause more problems then its worth. Also does anyone know if Verizon has a warrenty on tabs like they do on phones? I would hate to get it the a few months down the road it craps out and I can't replace it.

I just purchased one earlier today. I had to speak with a sales rep because I chose pre-paid to avoid losing my unlimited data. I did alot of research and for now this and the nexus 7 are your best options for 7 inch tabs. I already own a nexus 7 and cloud services have resolved my micro sd issues but I'm tired of tethering and want data. The tab 7.7 is better than any avail alterative which in the US would be "galaxy tab 7.0 plus", galaxy tab 2 7.0. and Sony tablet S. I am worried about how good data will be on a custom Rom running jelly bean or ice cream sandwich because I have not interest in keeping honeycomb on it
Edit: It comes with a 1yr warranty

Do you know if you still get the warranty if you don't buy a data plan with it? I don't really want a data plan ill teather if I need it. I want it because I think its the perfect size tablet and i can't find any wifi only 7.7 tablets. I think 7 inch is a but too small but 10 inch is way too big.

Yes. I purchased it pre-paid which comes with a sim card with free activation but is not required. The 1yr warranty is included

I'm trying to see if I can ditch my Epic 4G and sidegrade to a Nexus S 4G with spending as little money as possible.
Looks like the prices for new Nexus S is around 220ish, with used Epics going from $130 and up. Wondering if I should just buy a new/used Nexus S, add it to my plan, deactivate the Epic 4G then sell it (it's in pristine condition, had it since launch).
I also have a $75 upgrade available (knowing the Premier program is changing soon) and Sprint is offering $85 for a trade in of the Epic 4G as well.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?
That's an upgrade not a sidegrade!!! You could get lucky and find a person willing to trade. Otherwise I would sell it on eBay or CL.

I went from the EPIC to the nexus s about 2 weeks ago and I will never look back. I had called sprint and asked them for an early upgrade cause I was so tired of that peice of **** epic. They would not give me a full upgrade yet and I told them I want to exchange my phone for a different one then cause I had so many problems with the epic. I went through a couple different supervisors and finally they said ok and I could choose between the evo and the transform and the nexus! U already know what I chose...

I've always gotten phones straight from Sprint with the two year agreement and $150 rebate.
I was checking on Best Buy/Wirefly and right now they have the Nexus S for 0$ with contract extension. How does that work?
that contract extension only works if your eligible for your $150 upgrade cause they want you to sign up for another 2 years. Trust me there is no way around this. If you want a new phone like the SGS2 or the new nexus prime coming up and you dont have a full upgrade yet just add another line to your acount and the you get the phone at the contract price. After you do that just put the line you just opened on hold and it will cost you only $10 a month.
i traded my epic for an evo a couple months ago, and today i'm trading a evo for a nexus s 4g. just keep tabs on your area's craigslist. people are always looking to trade their phone for something different.

Does changing phones reset the upgrade credit on the account?

I posted the phone and within 5 minutes of it going up someone called me with a Brand new in box Nexus S.. I freakin love this phone. Upgraded my best friend and my mom to one yesterday. NFC with Google Wallets is awesome

The only way to reset an upgrade is to buy a subsidized phone through your carrier or an authorized retailer.

Hi!
I am going to switch to sprint from AT&T because I lost my job. I am going to get onto my mother-in- law’s plan because my wife is already on it. They have a family plan so I was just going to jump onto their plan to save money.
The only problem is that I have a Dell Streak and am so in love with it. I have the awesome stock unlocked factory ROM on it and can tether with an unlimited data plan. It’s a great phone but does seem a little out dated by being a little slow. Also I am tired of paying 85.00 a month for unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited data, and unlimited testing. I know it’s a decent deal but money is tight at the moment.
The only solution so far is to go to sprint because that is what my wife and mother-in-law are have. The only close phone that sprint has that is close to what I have is the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G. The phone would be 19.95 a month and 10.00 a month for the data for that phone. I am wondering if there is a huge ROM support group for the Galaxy S II if I wanted to say put Ice Cream Sandwich on it stock style with unlock tethering with the sprint network. I know some networks make it real hard to change your ROM’s phone.
The other choice would be just to go with the Samsung Replenish because it seems like a decent phone and has Android capabilities but I just think I would find myself depressed going from an extreme mod phone like the Dell Streak to the Samsung Replenish.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Let me know the ins and outs of moding a Galaxy S II on the Sprint network. And what phone you think would be best. You think the extra 10.00 is worth the Galaxy S II? I just think I will be going for the Galaxy S II because that is what I am used to.
Side note is that I am 8 months from my contract expiring with AT&T and have unlimited data smartphone plan. I was thinking about using an extra lame old phone that I have laying around the house and taking of my data plan by calling in and say I do not have it any more I just have a basic phone and ask them to remove my data plan. This was when I port my number over to Sprint they will only charge me the basic termination fee than the more expensive one because I had a smartphone. Do you think this would work?
Best,
needspractice
Bump!
Bump!
I'm think I just saw this on the Streak area. Galaxy SII development is a million times more active than the Streaks, there are hundreds of modded Sammy, ASOP and AKOP roms, the devs are incredible. I could never go back to my streak from my S2

How do you know if you get that model? check the back of it? do you get that one at the Sprint store?
I have not bought one yet. I could call and ask or go by there and ask to see the one in the box before I get it.
Also do you think its a big deal to give up my unlimited data plan on AT&T?
Are the brand new ones in the stores today the GT-19100 model? Also are the white ones GT-19100?
I called the store and they say its the D710? Is that an entirely different model?
Thats the unlocked version and is not compatible with Sprint!
Im going for the Galaxy S III!

When you root it or flash a new ROM does it give you portable wireless hot spot?

I was wondering if anyone knew of the latest or best phone that has the greatest ROM rooting following at the moment greater than the Galaxy Nexus?
I have a Galaxy Nexus right now and its great but I am just bored with it. I would like to upgrade. The only problem is that I use [GNEX TOOLKIT V11.1.0] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, Recovery, Flash + MORE [SPRINT] which is the best tool around.
I was wondering if there are tools like this or better for other newer phones that I may upgrade to or should I just stay with my Nexus for while?

Please ask that question in this thread or in this thread.
So I want to buy an unlocked Android GSM phone to use on Straight Talk with an AT&T compatible SIM I will purchase from Straight Talk.
I am confused with phone pricing. How can the Galaxy Nexus be only $350 direct from Google, but older phones, even some that are a couple of years old, are going for quite a bit more than that on eBay USED? I would like to spend under $200 if possible for a Samsung Galaxy S or newer but everything is expensive on ebay.
Is there a better place to get used phones than ebay/Craigslist?
Swappa.
Although the Play Store Nexus is a fantastic deal for a new in box Nexus.

I have an oppurtunity to get the Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile for free (on two year contract), but the Nexus 4 isn't in stock and will cost me $200 on a two year contract. It's a hard decision for me, since the Nexus 4 is quad core and a Nexus phone. On the other hand, the S3 has expandable memory, costs me less money, and I can get it now, rather than wait for Nexus 4 to come back to stock.
I know I'll get updates slower on the S3, but I plan on installing a custom rom (Cyanogenmod or AOKP) and I believe the S3 on T-Mobile has a good developer community.
What should I do?
I'm currently using an OG Droid on Verizon.
Verizon is getting way too expensive and I figured I can save lots on T-Mobile.
Thanks

The S3 is clearly a better deal here. If you were going for the Nexus, it'd be better to buy it unlocked from Google (no contract).
Please use the sticky in this section for all phone decision questions. Thread closed.
I would like to buy this phone without a contract. What is the best place to do this without paying a ridiculous price. I need a Verizon Carrier phone.
I have a great contract and do not want it to be voided. Do Verizon Phones come with 32GB
