Hello All,
My wife has a T869 and it is running the most recent stock ICS update (UVLG7). I have searched these forums, and have not found a Deodexed/Zip Aligned version anywhere.
Does anyone have any idea, whether work is being done on this release, or if it has in fact been done, and I missed it, just point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate the help.
Also in an Ideal world I would love to find one that is de-bloated as well, but I am willing to take care of that myself

I am new to flashing, but I want to get ICS on my Samsung Captivate which will not receive an official 4.0 update from Samsung. There are multiple options for ICS roms; the two I have heard most about are Doc Master's and Team Hacksung's CM9 (alpha). Please leave comments as to the general stability for the most up to date versions of the roms if you have experience with them. I am not interested in a buggy rom; i want one that is stable and that has most/all functions. I am a little bit confused on both forums for these roms how stable these roms are. Especially Doc Master's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462035). It does not list any specific bugs for the versions; does this mean everything works? I'm new to this so I am confused.
Also, if I would flash one of these ICS roms and decide it is too buggy, or I don't want it anymore, can I get back to my stock Gingerbread 2.3.5 (what I currently have). If so, how? Is the best way to make a nandroid backup of my stock rom (does that work for stock?)? If not, what is.
I appreciate your help.
Help please!
Bump. I really would appreciate any help.

ICS rom
I have flashed the 2 roms you asked about. I liked them both until I found Dark Knights ICS 4.0.4. Everything works and it is smooth and fast. I have tried others also, I also liked MIUI but Dark Knights is the best so far for me.
If you search XDA you will find the answers to your other questions. You just have to be willing to read a few threads. When I started I screwed up just about every way you can think of and someone was willing to help me out.
If you go to You tube and search for videos on how to flash your Captivate, many will come up (I am a visual person). Look for videos from Josh at Mobile Tech Videos. He knows what he is talking about and is a great help.
It would probably be better if you posted this question in the captivate forums.
I would post the link but I don't have the power to do that yet.
As for your question, I am currently running the CM9 Alpha version and am loving it. It has been my daily driver for quite some time and I would definitely recommend using this ROM.
All of your questions can be found in the captivate forums. You'll have to read a lot but it's better to read more so you know what you're getting yourself in to.
Hey guys, searched forums and couldn't find anything about this. As you all know the stock color values on Galaxy Tab 2.0 (I have 7") seem off and very washed out. Samsung is usually pretty decent with calibration from factory but seems to be poor with this tablet.
Anyone mess with the color values yet? I haven't tried yet, admittedly I don't have the best eye for this kind of thing. I am rooted running AOKP, but I'm not sure if there's any kernels that support color tuning yet.
Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, thanks all
I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question and admit up front that I'm a noob. I've got the XYBoard 8.2 running the OTA version of ICS. It's rooted, but other than that pretty much untouched. Do I have any options that will allow me to run Google Now, or am I stuck waiting/hoping or a Jellybean rom to be released?
I believe there was a way to port it to ICS, however it doesn't have voice search or voice commands...
I think there actually is a way to get it onto ICS and have voice search, however it is an old version and is stuck to an american accent.
EDIT: I have found a better thread than the previously posted one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
Other than the accent and the inability to update, it's pretty good.

The answer may be a custom rom
I was thinking about his last night and I think the answer may be that simply running stock ICS, rooted is not going to be enough. I will need to use a custom rom. I'll do some pecking around and try to find one. This may cause an avalanche, but if you've got any recommendations, feel free to pass them along. Lastly, I just want to confirm I'm not crazy and that there is no Jellybean rom yet available for the XYBoard 8.2. If there is, I TRULY apologize in advance.
Can ANYONE please upload an apk for either the multitouch keyboard from the original razr (if it would work on the razr hd) or the motoblur ICS keyboard that came on this phone when it was first released?? Please!
My favorite keyboard ever was the multitouch that came on the original razr, but i'm not sure if it would work on this phone. But i also really like the ICS motoblur keyboard. I've looked for hours and can't find either of them. They both had really nice features that i loved that aren't in the Jelly Bean keyboard. They were a little bigger overall, also the individual keys were slightly larger, and one of my favorite features was that they auto-corrected punctuation if it was placed in the wrong place. And in general I thought it had better predictions.
Closest i could find is the froyo motorola multitouch keyboard (that i didn't really want anyway) in a zip version that i couldn't figure out how to unzip and make an apk. I'm rooted but no custom recovery, so flashing zips from a custom recovery is a no-go.
P.S. Before this thread gets side tracked like every other thread i've found along the way.... I don't intend to sound condescending or rude, but i honestly don't care what your favorite keyboard is, or why it's your favorite. And i don't want a tutorial on safestrap and custom recoveries. I'm simply looking for the apk for the original keyboard, and i would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me or point me in the right direction
Thanks!
Why don't you just pull it from the stock ROM?
To be honest, I don't know how, and I'm now on jelly bean, so I can't back it up in tibu and I'm not flashing back just for the keyboard. But thanks for the suggestion, I thought maybe someone had done it already at some point.
Sorry, I looked around and there's a confusing array of SGS3 forums, and they're different everytime I come back. A couple years ago I'm pretty sure that the original ones were locked, and all development had been merged into a new one. Now I'm not seeing that and the Verizon one seems active again so I'm confused on where to go.
So here's my question, hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction. My daily driver is a rooted Verizon SGS3 running the stock ROM (Android 4.4.2) and I'm really interested in upgrading it to Nougat or even Oreo if possible. I have a fair amount of experience with unlocking the bootloader and flashing new ROMs to it but there's just so much info to dig thru here and most of it's outdated so I don't know where to start. Haven't been too active with this for the past 4 years and a lot has changed.
Thanks in advance!
