Can ANYONE please upload an apk for either the multitouch keyboard from the original razr (if it would work on the razr hd) or the motoblur ICS keyboard that came on this phone when it was first released?? Please!
My favorite keyboard ever was the multitouch that came on the original razr, but i'm not sure if it would work on this phone. But i also really like the ICS motoblur keyboard. I've looked for hours and can't find either of them. They both had really nice features that i loved that aren't in the Jelly Bean keyboard. They were a little bigger overall, also the individual keys were slightly larger, and one of my favorite features was that they auto-corrected punctuation if it was placed in the wrong place. And in general I thought it had better predictions.
Closest i could find is the froyo motorola multitouch keyboard (that i didn't really want anyway) in a zip version that i couldn't figure out how to unzip and make an apk. I'm rooted but no custom recovery, so flashing zips from a custom recovery is a no-go.
P.S. Before this thread gets side tracked like every other thread i've found along the way.... I don't intend to sound condescending or rude, but i honestly don't care what your favorite keyboard is, or why it's your favorite. And i don't want a tutorial on safestrap and custom recoveries. I'm simply looking for the apk for the original keyboard, and i would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me or point me in the right direction
Thanks!
Why don't you just pull it from the stock ROM?
To be honest, I don't know how, and I'm now on jelly bean, so I can't back it up in tibu and I'm not flashing back just for the keyboard. But thanks for the suggestion, I thought maybe someone had done it already at some point.

bump bump bump....
Gosh...why?! It is horrible!
Avoid it.
It may look nicer, but after using it for 3 days I switched back to the older version.
The new one is absolutely horrible in recognition, and the sensitivity is just so off...
Please advise a droid x noob!
Ok, so I'm coming off a rooted and GB rommed thunderbolt. So I know little about rooting and flashing roms. I would like to make my DX to be gingerbread and have a lot of eye candy, more speed, and better battery. I am currently rooted with stock System version 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.UC, android 2.2.1. I keep getting asked to OTA from Verizon and I keep declining. I'm assuming I should not do the OTA. What would suggest I do? What Rom would accomplish my needs the best and give me a better DX experience?. I researched and found that Liberty and Apex are the tops. Also some of the roms say that I cant have system version .340, what do I do about that? If someone could give me a small step by step, it would help a lot. Sorry for asking but the DX seems a little more complex than flash a thunderbolt. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!.
Seriously? Call me a noob too, but listen to this. Don't go for a rom that is the "best". The best is going to come with a lot of things that people don't know what to look for.
I'm using Shell Rom for the Optimus S and it's the best I've ever used. Some kinks in it but other than that, the performance is crazy.
That's the number one thing. Performance.
Go launcher (or adw) for making it look pretty (go sms, go dialer...)
Widgetsoid and Widgetlocker to customize the lockscreen to an unbelievable extent.
Custom keyboard (Swiftkey X) with neon theme.
I'm looking good, excellect functionality, beautiful, and best of all? It's fast. It doesn't bog down. It does what I want and it looks good doing it.
Go with a shell rom that has a minimum of what you need. Look for small things, like a power control widget. I missed out on that one with my Shell Rom (ported from CM7 and that's my only gripe). Then wifi stability, 3g 4g stability, no "Bugs: some people report missing their camera flash". Keep it stable where you need it to be.
The pimp it out! If your launcher has a theme you want for pay, then pay it cheapskate. Don't go to some sharing site and download the apk. That's wrong and hurts developers... Unless you're broke and are going to spread word of mouth to people with money to buy it... I'm sure they wouldn't mind that so much then...
Droid X is no harder to customize than the Thunderbolt (I've used both), though you will have to learn some new terminology (easy stuff though if you're used to rooting Android).
Read the forums. The Droid X has been out so long that a lot of users are sick of answering the same "How do I root/rom/theme?" questions over and over for every new user on their forum. There is a ton of good information/guides out there to get you started.
Some of the forums you should check out are:
1. XDA (Droid X section)
2. RootzWiki
3. DroidXForums
4. MyDroidWorld

Hey guys. I switched from my slow, glitchy, and just aging captivate to the nexus S a few days ago, and I love it.
There are a couple things I miss though - the big one being the quick setting widgets in the drop down menu. I don't care if it's an app/widget from the market, or something I have to flash in to the rom. I just want those settings up there.
Is there a way to add those without flashing another rom? I like stock gingerbread (and I'll be switching to ICS when it comes out OTA for 9020A) and I don't want to flash a custom rom like CM or something. I'm rooted, but other than that I'm stock 2.3.6.
Other things I miss are a predictive dialer, and swype. If you can help me out there too I'd be greatly appreciative!
Edit: Oh, and the music controls shown in the menu would be nice too! (but only if it will work for google music)
When I moved to the NS from a Vibrant I felt the same way. There is no way to do it without some modding and I don't remember ever seeing a simple flashable zip to add it to GB. I ended up having a love hate relationship with CM7 but have moved to ICS and there is a mod to add it to some ICS roms in the dev section. I have yet to bother adding it.
Anyway, yes it can be done but not without some flashing or modding but if you aren't wanting to do that you are out of luck.
You can get similar functionality to pics with widget locker or extended controls, you get an icon or space in the status bar though. GB doesn't support it.
Music widget as above is available in stock ics too.

I really like stock, but I can flash if I *have* to... I've had a love hate relationship with CM myself, I felt like it took a little too much effort to keep up and running.. With the Google apps packs, and the nighties and constant backing up and flashing, you know. Is CM up to ICS for the Nexus S 9020a yet?
I also recently came from the captivate. I was also determined to stay stock and wait for the ics ota but....
The development for the ns is light years ahead of what you and I were used to and i am impressed after flashing a pretty much stock ics rom with a custom kernel. No toggles in the drop down but it sure is nice having everything working like it should. Fast and smooth! Peter Alphonso's ics
Eugene's Speedy 3 kernel

Can it be done? I hate sense but love the keyboard as the stock ICS keyboard is very small. Can I just zip the sense non arrow keyboard onto my virtuous rom?
There used to be an old IME mod that a guy callled jonasl made which was the HTC keyboard with a whole bunch of extras. It installed like a standard apk. no flashing required, which was awesome. I used it on my old froyo and GB devices but it doesn't run on ICS. I've been trying to ask people to port it to ICS, as I don't know how to myself, but no one has helped yet. if you know how, you can try porting it yourself.
Edit: Try here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594642 Works perfectly like the old one used to, but it isn't full qHD size yet. Thinking people are working on it.
First, thanks to the members of this forum it has been a great help in my noob unbricking initiation. This phone is a hand-me-down and I immediately tried to put CM on it... and you know what happened after that.
Next time I'll come here first.
I'm fairly dyslexic and am hating the TW interface so far, particularly the Samsung apps make it very hard for me to use.
Is there a TW ROM compatible with locked bootloaders that has a more vanilla android experience? In particular I would prefer to have just google apps (dialer, calculator, settings menu, keyboard etc...)

Between the few locked bootloader roms available I think it's merely a matter of debloating whichever one you choose. There is no perfect rom out there, I know because on my S3 I've tried nearly all of them. I'd say take a look at them and try each one out and see what you like, that's probably the best advice I can give you
