Cm10 screen vs Stock ICS - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

hi everybody, i have some questions about cm10... i installed the rom and it's great and very faster but from the first time of use i observed that the screen is less vivid, resolution is high but the screen in general doesn't appear vivid, brightness and colorful like the ics stock or honeycomb stock... and reading the discussion in the development section i didn't see anyone that mentioned this fact.... please help me and say me how to fix this... and another problems that no one mentioned is that the audio is stereo BUT you can easy listen that is mono ported to stereo and the quality is very very very low and different from the original one...
i can't understand how i'm the first one that see these problems... all of you are happy but how an exploiter can be happy with these bugs ? the screen and the audio are 2 main features, we are not talking about (for example) an app not working...
thank you to all!

For the screen colour...there is a setting under setting-advanced ...screen mode & scenario.
For the audio issue...I dont really know. I flashed the beataudio for sgs2, and it works just nicely.

Is it possible to install another Codec for the Camcorder

Hey.
I`m annoyed from the audio quality when i record a video..
im running a 32B magic and i would like to record with higher audio quality,
so is there a way to change the audiodriver from amr to aac or something like that?
thank you
i was wondering the same thing myself the other day. not sure this is in the right forum tho

Very good idea... I would suggest that you put a [REQUEST] tag on the thread title rather than in the current state it is in... I am very sure many are not bothering to read it since it sounds more like a question, and hence the contempt of most ppl in this forum for questions to be in dev section. Just my 2 cents.
But I love the idea of a better codec, especially since now we have access to an overclocked CPU to help with the encoding.

I second this. add the request tag
Your CPU is FAR too weak to encode video on the fly. Video encoding is by HARDWARE ENCODER. As a result, you can do no such thing.

Your main audio quality problem is caused by the microphone. You simply can't get decent audio quality with a tiny little garbage microphone. The audio encoding used really won't make much of a difference in overall quality.

WISHLIST to the DEVS

Hello guys... had my Sensation for almost 2months now, but most of the time just in my drawer coz i also have S2...
after i knew about the progress of S-off, i did it on my Sensation...
ok, im spoil with lots of custom ROM of S2 and numbers of Kernels to choose from... though S2's board is a bit messy because of "politics" among devs/mods/admins...
I understand that we only have S-off for a short time (compared to S2) thats why mods/tweaks/etc isnt as much as S2... im considering using Sensation as my main phone now, S2 have to rest
Here's what i want to see in the future:
1. Better battery management - i dont know about 2.3.3 builds because started mine with 2.3.4 ("Insertcoin" specifically)... im approaching to 30hrs of my moderate-heavy usage on my S2 (You can check Batista's latest build with Ninpehtamine 2.0.2 Kernel)... I know the fact that the display takes most of our battery and its S2's SAMOLED+ forte specially when its dsplaying most of the UI in black... so im not expecting it to be in line with S2, but we can optimizr the whole system to be more efficient... I want also to be able to Underclock and Undervolt the CPU like what i did with S2, though there are ways through Daemon, but i want it with graphical interface like that of Set-cpu...
2. Make use of the Internals - So we have 1.2Ghz Dual Core cpu (old architecture) + Adreno 220... its powerful and more than enough, though not as beastly as Exynos+Mali combo... i dont know if its possible but the Devs here are able to force GPU for handling the UI (thats what i read), why not push the bounderies and make it able to assisst the browser and the video player (stock or thirdparty)... I dig some infos that Sensation also do also pack descent Audio chips (Wolfson-but not the variant we found on Tab and S1), why not make a mods to make most of its potential... (Hello Supercurio) I know we have some progress on camera specially on videos, keep it up guys...
3. Software/Misc - How about an Odex system? (for quicker initial bootups of custom ROMs, less memory consumed, less storage used in /data due to the fact that pre-optimised dex files are stored on /system already [save space and boost performance]).. De-odex is just useful for themeing, but hell we have the Beautiful SENSE...
how about Phone.apk with voice recorder embeded to record the conversation? Mods to make the volume Key as a shutter in camera app? and etc?
Is this Thread serious? Guy you call for features that need time to develope and the Dev´s are on it. Like using the GPU in browser.
deodexing is not only for theming! Go on reading!
go back to s2 guy..... I dont want anything to be like this plastic ****! Software or Hardware!
we have more pixels that need lights so battery consumption CANT be the same!!
And who told you that the Hardware in the S2 is better? The Snapdragon chipset´s are better! Go on reading before anoying us with **** like this!
Go to S2 forum´s and cry there!
Ps. Mod close this please... we are loosing DEV´s with stupid threads like that!

Geez, poor bloke was only making suggestions, no need to burn him down like that, its people like you we don't need around these forums.
And I agree with the sound chip, hopefully there is a way to crank it up, I want to feel my ears ringing after taking out my headphones lol its just a bit to quiet for me, but other people may say otherwise.

I think the Sensation can be way better if devs:
-Put back scrolling wallpapers so we can use 1080x960 wallpapers, and don't tell me they can't unlock it, it's easier than all the mods they did on Rosie
-Boost volume like they did on N1 by kernels, volume+ wont help

What happen to you? im just making suggestions... did i offend you or any devs? and if you dont have any productive post to contribute, then ignore this thread and get a life...

+1.... Sound output is good enough for me (IMO)... what i want is to lessen the too much mid-bass hump on the sensation... what headphone are you using?
Some of your requests are already granted. Oc Daemon Controller being one. Do a little research.
Also, it's SGS2.
All we need is a sound tweak if u want scrolling wallpaper download another launcher most of the people I know don't use the default anyway. Sound seems to be the main issue that hasn't been resolved with any rom

Well, i love HTC's sense but sometimes i get bored with it.. i always have ADWex on mine, use Home switcher if boredom gets in... i
Scrollable Wallpaper = Launcher Pro Plus, Dunno why you'd want to switch back to Rosie though. Get beautiful widgets + Animation package from the market if you really miss having windshield wipers eat your battery when it's raining and all those other animations. And it's already been mentioned that most of the things on your wishlist already exist.
If you want better sound you should write HTC and ask them to send you a pair of BEATZ audio headphones, it should be covered under warranty now amiright!? =P
JK but SRS BZNS but some ROMS actually do have external speaker volume boosted, and whilst volume plus has been reported as a battery drainer, or a legit solution or some combination of both by others, there are some DSP packs and at least music players (like Player Pro) who's extended EQ settings come with a Pre-Amp that does a pretty good job if you have half-way decent headphones.
Also, you might want to just edit the gain of your MP3's to normalize them around 89 decibels or higher if you prefer.
What's on my wish-list you say? Support the devs monetarily and thank them for their hard work, methinks it goes further than these threads can.

[Q] CM10 High pitch sound when using camera.

Hey I've been having this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8GTloRDO08 issue when recording video; a high pitched sound. Is there a software fix? It didn't happen until I flashed CM10. Appreciate any help,

I've looked into this issue. Does it happen if you have earphones plugged in while recording? I believe it is feedback from the external speaker and the mic. Just a theory. Happens on sound recordings and third party cameras also.

I'm not sure it is a widely known issue. I've looked on several forums and haven't seen much posted regarding the one XL. This is a common problem for many devices, but each one seems to get fixed at some point (or people stop complaining about it).
Because it happens to other apps besides the camera, I assume (with no real knowledge to back the assumption) that this is a problem in the kernel.

Agreed. ViperXL has been an all star for me. That said, I would drop it in a heart beat for CM10 if the camera was fixed and the signal didn't drop to edge so randomly. CM10 is so fast. A shame really.

Sorry for the bump, but this is an issue yet to be resolved.
I've been experimenting with video recording a little bit. There is a high-pitched hiss during video recording, but what I've found is that when headphones are plugged in, the entire phone (camera, any voice recording app) switches to some sort of mono recording.
Try plugging in headphones/earbuds and then recording another video. The audio level is really low except when you talk into the bottom microphone. It's as if the phone thinks it's on a call. If you are not within inches of the bottom mic, your voice won't even be picked up. The audio recording level will be this way until a reboot.
I'm running King Kang M1 rohan b6, so I'm not sure if this is an AOKP or CM issue, but I'm pretty sure it applies to all AOSP roms.
My video recording was working perfectly on stock sense, so not a hardware issue.
Anyone else having similar results?

Porting Beats Audio, xLoud and Bravia Engine for Atrix 2?

Hi,
Some people have ported Beats Audio, xLoud and Mobile Bravia Engine to several of the android phones.
Is it possible to port it to Atrix 2?
Will it really increase the performance?
There are several methods available online..
(A simple google search will show the results... I am not able to post the links as i am a new member)
Have anyone tried it??
Any senior members willing to try this?
-----------------------
P.S:- This is not a Q&A post.. This is meant for discussion of a general topic.

I have installed Beats Audio and it works fine, yes it does increase audio performance. To install Beats Audio you need to root your phone.
I haven't tried xloud and bravia, so I cant comment on that.

For the love of everything even remotely good in life, do not do this. Beats audio and really any other mod are TERRIBLE and degrade audio quality. if what you want is something that drives the base hard and washes everything else out, I suppose it does a damn good job, but it kills audio quality. If you want good performance, buy some decent headphones, nothing less than $100 or so, but you don't need anything crazy, and get a good player with an equalizer like poweramp.

I have never used it, but obviously none of these can change the hardware of the phone, they are basically fancy equalizers. All equipment is different, and that is the main point to equalizers (not to adjust sound for the type of music, the recordings are mixed how the producer intended, but to adjust for different listening hardware. for example, small headphones often need more bass volume to sound good, while large speakers might lack on the low to mid end.) That said, some of these enhancements might improve quality on the device they are intended for, as they can change what is needed to get good sound there.
You can try any of these, and see what you think, as everyone has different tastes, but to get the best quality sound, I would still recommend high quality listening gear, and a good equalizer you can play with to get the sound you want.
I mostly listen with ER6i in ear headphones, which are noise isolating (not electronic canceling), so they block a lot of sound, and have really good quality for in ear headphones. They don't make the same ones any more, but they were around $100, so I'm sure there is a replacement model. I use Poweramp as my player, and it has a 10 band EQ that I tweaked for my headphones to sound best.
Well i have installed all of these and my audio is better..performance is better. From my point of view..it doesnt hurt anything.

Shame on you! Difference of opinion I guess, but my guess is it is still the same as the tv store effect. the brighter the better seeming at fist glance.
Anyways, always feel free to try things out, but make sure you know how to remove them. I made a beats remover that is in the general section somewhere, but they might have updated since then, so no guaranty that it will work.
Beats audio thing was just a screw up. It made the audio quality bad for me. I tried Acid audio engine which worked fine. It did boost the audio quality for me a lil bit !

[A701] increase Volume possible?

Hello xda users,
I want to know if there is a way to increase the volume of the A701, especially the headphone output (I dont want to stress people around me with the build in speaker)?
Under normal circumstances the volume is great but e.g when travelling by train or plane I sometimes wish the volume would be a little higher, because of the noise from the environment.
I dont want to damage my ears, of course I know that high volume isnt good for health!
My SGS2 and my S+ got a higher volume through a new custom Kernel. Unfortunately there is no custom Kernel for the A701
Some media players can increase the volume of audio, but then it sounds messed up and its of course not systemwide (e.g. emulators etc).
Can anyone help me with this question?
I am running an almost untouched 4.1.1. Stock (Build Acer_AV051_A701_1.028.00_EMEA_DE, Image Acer_AV051_A701_RV05RC08_EMEA_DE) with Unlocked Bootloader and it's rootet.
Check out "Speaker Boost", ymmv
By omega centauri, works for headphone too.
Thank you for your answer, I will give it a try. Sometimes the solution is so easy I also read about "AlsaMixer" in the comments, if Speaker Boost doesnt work I will try AlsaMixer.
Thanks a lot!

Ha Ha, only because I didn't post it till yesterday :laugh::laugh: Was such a simple edit I didn't see a need to. Sometimes I forget to post things
Now, for a good audio mod, I advise
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Use the CortexAx with NEON driver
Also, I use the Creative Zen IR samples.
You have to play with the settings, and you'll drop a couple notches in loudness, but the clarity and bass more than makes up for it.
Will probably cook it all into my Rom
Also, if you're running my Rom, I've cooked up a nifty little 30 step volume mod, rather than the 15 step (stock).
