[Q] i9003 Motherboard - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Is it true that all i9003 motherboards should be changed while it's still on warranty because Samsung used cheap parts? And if it was not changed, the phone may not work properly anytime soon?

Does Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 have this problem?

No.
You only change it when the internal memory fails, has nothing to do with being 'cheap'.

My i9003 Internal Memory failed , while I had no warranty , so I didn't get a free motherboard. I had to pay 200 $ for a new motherboard so I decided not to pay.
My friend's I9003 also failed after 7 months of use, He hopes he get a Motherboard for free.
Consider it whatever you want, cheap parts, bad manufacturing, Bad quality, ..... etc . But the only thing that we know for sure, is that I had to buy a new phone.

I also had same problem restatrting itself in the midnight and automatic factory reset , then i replaced the motherboard with Rs.6500.loss

yeah, My phone's IMEI and Baseband got corrupted, first I thought that this might be due to EFS damage, but I had to replace the mother board to recover the phone! Rs.17000 (LKR) gone!

Hi there, as an owner of a Galaxy S2 i can confirm i dont have any such issues, in the Galaxy S2 specific forum it is very rare to have a faulty phone, i would suggest it is definitely an issue with that specific phone you have. the S2 is the best phone out at the moment, would suggest having it exchanged for a replacement because that is definitely a problem with either the phones hardware or how android is working on your phone.
my hard luck samsung said motherboard is faulty but they said they will replace it or refund it lets see :S even after spending 570EUR u have to suffer as customer

Very upset today

Hello fellow members,
Today am very upset with the issue I had with my Samsung Galaxy SL Gt-i9003.
I purchased this phone 4 months ago(my first android phone) with a happy heart. I got it for 17500 rupees, which I was saving for the past 6 months.
Today after getting up I switched on my phone and used it for a couple of minutes and kept it down. After sometime when I wanted to use it again, I found that the screen is blank and the touch buttons have lightened up. I pushed the power button for a few seconds and the phone restarted. But, it was not able to start properly and kept restarting again and again. I pulled out the battery and again started it and found that the phone cannot get past the SAMSUNG GALAXY SL logo. I then took out the battery again and started it in recovery mode. Nothing happend, only the android logo showed and no options. I rushed to the nearest service center and they also did the same thing like me, turned the phone into recovery mode. They said the motherboard is faulty and it will be changed.
I am very unhappy with the product as I started facing small issues when the phone was 1 week old. Like automatic switching off, battery overheat, frequent discharging. But after updating the version to Gingerbread, these issues were resolved.
I will never buy a Samsung product in future and if there is a need then I'll purchase the phone with a written consent from the company.
LOOK on the bright side! The company is replacing the motherboard free!! Its a electronic device dude, afterall! Anything can go wrong. Be kewl & feel delighted that ur issue is being sorted out by the concerned ppl! I've had some bad moments with Nokia & other Samsung devices & even iPhone

Thanks man
Thanks man .. looking forward to sell the phone ..
searching for a good offer ..
The customer representative said the phone will be okay till Saturday, so I have 5 days to decide.
Man i got my motherboard replaced three times till now. Problem started after 6 months and within next 2 months i am going to sell it for sure. Because after warranty i'm damn sure that phone is going to make a hole in my pocket
Sue the company
Bro, you can file a complaint against the company in consumer court.
I am not sure about the eligibility, but I know that if the company is fails to repair/replace the product then you can surely sue it.
You can also file a bigger claim than cost of the product.
Motherboard replaced
I had the same Problem few days back, my phone is 5 months Old, suddenly the phone started restarting itself, i took it to Service Center , they told only replacing the Mother Board can fix the Problem... is this common for this Model ????
mine is 4 months old: started today rebooting itself... what the hell!!! a 300 euros phone should last a bit more than 4 ****ing months... i've being using a mistubishi m342i since 2003 and it's still working perfectly (apart from some errors given by battery charger) and a ****ing 20 euros nokia since 2008 that works and looks as if it was new...
why should i buy samsung again?
tomorrow I'm gonna have it checked by service, if they'll replace the motherboard i'm gonna sell my i9003 (does someone want to buy it? it looks like new) and think about something more resistant (suggestions?).

Nokia 1100 .. just kidding.. wanna relieve tension building here i have my phone for 9 months but doesn't have the random reboot problem (the i9003 of course not my current sgs2 )

I think there are many issues with samsung, which are inherent with some specific phones.
Like the Galaxy Ace has the Sleep of Death problem. Just search youtube and you will find it.
I don't know what Samsung is doing. First sell phones with defects then keep changing the parts. Thats not the way of doing business.
give a review on samsung site

Guys, I think there are many users with the same motherboard problem in i9003. Lets just give a review on the samsung site and inform other buyers.
I have already give a good review on samsung.co.in
Samsung tries to trick
Yesterday I got a call from the customer service center to come and pick the phone today because they have received a new motherboard. Today noon they called and said they have installed the new motherboard and are unable to revive the phone. They say please come tomorrow because we have one more part to change. They think that it will work.
I said to replace the phone and if you don't replace you will regret your decision because if you succeed in reviving the phone, the phone will again give problem after 1 or 2 months and then I won't come to you. I will head straight to the consumer court and sue your ass.
As drajax said, Electronics devices does give such problems and i hope it will work once the motherboard get fixed. And dont forget, for few phones when the users got their motherboard replaced - they got 16GB internal memory from Samsung and i remember those days ppl were trying to brick their phone purposefully to get 16GB storage...

You are right .. but today I got a call from samsung and they say after changing the motherboard the phone's issue cannot be resolved. They say there is one more part they will change and then check.
I think they are just trying to save themselves from replacing the phone.

You have a great fortune then. Samsung is unable to resolve my issue by replacing the motherboard. They are executing experiments on my phone by changing the parts one by one.
They will have to replace the phone in end.
I don't understand why they use such sub-standard quality parts. I have not rooted my phone ever, and its screwed.

they will try every possible way not to replace the phone. they say silly reasons regarding it because if they couldnt repair the phone it will be a black mark to that particular service center. if they replace the phone it will be a huge giant black mark to them... so they will try not to replace the phone. similar problem happened to me also i called the customer support and complained about the service center and also mailed them regarding the complaint. within two weeks i got the phone replaced...

[Q] [WORST CASE SCENARIO] I need HELP PLZ just PLZ CLICK THIS :(((

Hello guys
I need serious help here
This is my scenario: Day1:
I heard about this flashing custom roms so i thought it would be cool trying it with my phone. So i successfully did flash some roms and had recover many times after bootloop bcuz of nandroid.
But this time its different i try to install xposed installer and was currently using a custom rom. So i got bootlooped again but i wasn't worried cuz i have the powerful nandroid backup . So i restored my stock rom blah3x and it says successful then i reboot my phone . But the logo didnt show up so i tried to go to recovery again AND suddenly it just go back to this useless stock recovery HUHUHU :crying: idont even know why they make this useless ---- errr..
Day 2:
And this day i found this Sp flash tool blah3x . And as what i learned i need a full backup rom and obviously i don't have it and theres no link for it bcuz its very unknown and unsupported device. But luckily i got the scatter file bcuz, before i was using MDK Droid tools to do things that i dont even know how to . So i tried to flash just the recovery . The one i flashed is the TWRP that i've been using for flashing rom and it was stuck in red bar so i unplugged the cable and reboot to recovery but its still the same. And then i was pissed off , so i click the format all + download and i think i saw a text that shows it was success ful( I DID THAT BCUZ I DIDN'T EXPECT IT WILL HAPPEN). After that i cant reboot to recovery and the phone all i have now is this white light when i plug the phone to pc with/without battery. Its hard-bricked right? am i right?
But i think i have some advantage,
-Im still under warranty
-And i formatted everything in my phone as you can see in Day 2 scenario, so that means that they cant know that im rooted right? am i right?

I don't know anything about this company's policies but in general, if your phone is bricked because you did something wrong and they can prove it, they will probably not repair it under warranty but most likely ask you to pay for the repair or they will send you back the device as is if you don't pay.
Its the same for most OEMs. If something broke under warranty, they will repair at no cost. If it break because you did something that void your warranty, they'll ask you to pay for the repair, if they can prove it (e.g. If the phone can't power on, then they can't prove anything, if the phone does power on and they can see you have flashed stuff, then they'll most likely charge you for the repair.)

If it's dead and you want to make sure it really doesn't boot up you could always format it with a very strong magnet. No physical traces and every chip in your phone will be blank.. But it's also irreversible. But it could also fall under rule number 3..

SM-G920I troubles... Need your expert suggestions

its been only 26 days I purchased this phone. I was very happy to buy this phone, but it didn't lasted long. I have to take this phone to Samsung Service Centre after a week due to OTA 5.1.1 update failed. Samsung Service Centre personnel had flashed 5.1.1 using ODIN and I thought everything will be fine but I am experiencing the below problems frequently
Multiple times screen freezes and no option other than soft reset (volume down + power button).
in gallery, pictures taken through camera, the picture becomes green and all its pixels gets disturbed. happened for at least 5 pictures.
in idle / standby mode, phone will not wake up only led light flashes & screen remains black. Only option for me is to soft reset.
sometimes fingerprint unlock doesn't work (there is a message that says the same) and I have to enter the backup password manually.
Phone restarts by itself at-least couple of times (2-3 times) in a day in home network, while roaming it is pathetic.
Phone restarts while using camera, opening Google play, opening Google maps, any software application.
Phone restarts while in safe mode also (suggested by one of customer support executive to monitor my phone in safe mode)
Phone restarts during a call, this happened twice

Seems like a broken update install. Go to the service center again and list them all the problems thats been happening with valid proof. They will again flash the OS and give it back to you. It might possibly go but most probable that it won't, so repeat the same thing until they take it seriously so that they give you either a refund or replacement or a proper repair! The problem is, Samsung India never does replacements!
Reflash is needed otherwise have Samsung replaced your S6.
update on 30-July-2015
I am just got my S6 checked with Samsung Service Centre. The personnel has understood my problem clearly and told me that he will reflash the IMEI that will make the phone to Factory OS and then he do some random hardware test and then flash the Adroid ROM.
But unfortunately, IMEI flash failed giving errors. he says there is a problem with PBA and it has to be replaced, in other words he says it is a Mother Board issue.
[What is PBA issue? if IMEI flashing fails will imply a hardware problem?]
So, at-last it is figured out that there is a hardware problem. They asked me to go for a Service Warranty and get the Mother Board replaced. But I didn't agree to the Service Warranty. I asked for a replacement. They say, they can't help me out on phone replacement, I need to check with Direct Customer Centre team.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Any updates after this? Samsung India will never give in a replacement! NEVER EVER. I've tried arms and legs for my previous samsungs even within just 28 days but still they never did. They keep on insisting that the quality of repair will be excellent and i don't need to worry etc etc. Also, once you lose your 7 day window, you aren't eligible for a DOA. But, with increasing complexities in smartphone hardware, its difficult to replicate an issue within 7 freaking days! Please let us know what happened with your phone now! And yea, PBA is nothing but "printed board assembly" which is that green electrical board with all circuits and capacitors and other ICs.

Thanks for the follow up & sorry for the late response.
Yes, after this, I had to go through a difficult time. First they insisted me to go through repair, which i denied. After justifying the problems and pain that I was going through, they offered me a new handset as a replacement. When went to see this new replaced handset, the box is of dirt and a pen mark. It was looking like a potential tampered set. When questioned about this, they responded that they are giving a new handset and the dirt on the box is of mishandling by office boy & delivery person. When Opened the box, i was shocked to see the dirt hand print on the warrant card box also, & more disturbing is that there was dirt on the screen of the phone.
It was hard to believe myself, this was happening to me and for a one month old phone. When I rejected the new handset and demanded my money back. Again they took several days for process and finally did a refund. After nearly 2 months, a happy ending.
As I was in love with S6, did 2500 rupees insurance valid for 2 year, bought tough Armor case from Sipgen & Spigen Screen Gaurd, both together I spend around 3500 rupees. Tough Armor and screen guard are not used at all, now got wasted. Need to find someone who can use the same.
Now, I am back to my SII, which is still a reliable phone for me. SII is loaded with 5.1.1 which is being developed by Lysergic Acid. Thanks for his contribution and support.
S6 & services in India made me to think of moving to iOS. New Samsung devices with New Android features are being developed, but the core OS is not stable. Now, it is time for Android developers to concentrate on OS Stability, battery consumption so that people like me should feel secured when using new phones with new Android versions.

S6 Gyroscope problem

Hello guys. Yesterday I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6, the "normal" S6. I bought it from a guy, tested it 2 times everything fine but today I discovered that the rotation is not working properly. When i dial *#0*# and test the sensors, all pass but the gyro test fails. The phone doesn't have warranty, and I wanna know guys if you also got this problem and if you fixed it. If not, I could replace the gyroscope/accelerometer or what the heck is not working in a GSM service?
A friend told me that if the sensors are damaged then the phone can't be repaired. Please help me if you can. ?
PS: Sorry if I typed wrong.
If your friend doesn't repair phones for a living, then perhaps you should ask someone who does if it's repairable....

Changing rom doesn't solve it? I haven't tried this yet..
It is possible that it could be a software glitch. I had the issue with my ex-S6 Edge, I got it fixed by telling Samsung to reinstall the firmware for me.
I now have an S6, I used Samsung Smart Switch yesterday to reinstall the firmware on my phone. It fixed some issues I had along with less heat and better battery runtime. I suggest you do the same, it's worth a try.
Just be sure to charge your phone to 100% and use *only* the original USB cable from Samsung. You could end up with a bricked phone if you use third party cables, other users have ended up with such fate.

I have the original cable, but if I use it there are no chances of bricking it right? I did 3 factory resets already, and I cand replace the sensor with problems, it will cost me pretty much. I also have something with the camera. It looks like it takes whiter pictures, I think. I'm going tomorrow in a store to see another S6, to see if the cameras are the same.

If your phone isn't rooted, if you haven't tripped KNOX. Then you should be good to use Samsung Smart Switch to reinstall the firmware. I used it just about four days ago to reinstall the firmware on my S6. Solved many problems for me. It's worth a shot before replacing the hardware.
