anybody else having this issue? Happens atleast once a week, requires removing the battery to reset it..
I have seen this issue posted on other phones, but not on the MT4GS
Did you recently flash the new radio....if so revert back because it was proved that the new radio was unstable without a specific kernel
Total stock rom... I did upgrade to latest sw this week. I will see if it continues
the stock software does seem to have that glitch, where the home screen will have nothing but your wallpaper... apps and widgets will be missing. i had that once on the new update, but i rebooted and it hasn't happened again.

How new is the phone? Stock or custom? Have you tried a factory reset since you got the phone?
When I first got my HOX I was experiencing the same issue, it would happen ever so often. I did a factory reset and that seemed to fix the problem. I also installed CleanRom and I saw an improvement in my battery life as well. I know some people are experinceing heating issues that causes the batt to tank like that. Download GSM battery to see if an app is running in the background causing it to over heat. Also if you have your phone rooted you can DL SetCPU and set up a profile to underclock it when it get's too hot.
It's happened to many people before.
Nobody knows why it happens, but people say restarting it helps sometimes

Were you using Chrome with tilt scrolling enabled? (It's enabled as default) That can eat your battery in a few minutes. Or maps?
My only guess because the significant drain happened when screen was awake and phone on.
I don't think it's the signal bug... It shows your signal as straight green, so it's consistent.
Did anyone else think this would be a sense pun?

Nope. First time anything like this has ever happened. No idea what the hell caused it.
I was having issues like this too. He's running Xi40. I had that problem with that ROM too. Went to bed with it fully charged, woke up with it at 47%. Huge down spikes in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.
Flashed CleanROM 4.5 RC1 and the difference is amazing. Went out for over 10 hours yesterday and used it moderately and only consumed 34%. Something is up with that ROM. I have CleanROM setup and all the same apps installed as I did with Xi40 but the battery lasts much longer.
htc seem to have issues writing battery drivers.
the sensation and evo 3d battery drivers were completely ****ed up and htc managed to only fix the evo 3d but not the sensation

The network signal in the pic is fully green, no signal drops. Signal drops show as red. Also, from what I've seen, the dropped data signal issue results in a really steep line, but not a dead vertical one. This looks more like the incorrect voltage being read, and the volt meter correcting itself.

Or, since the phone was awake and the screen was on, it was heavily loaded (process stuck at 99% cpu, benchmarking, etc.). Either way, nothing to see here, move along.

I don't think you will see a vertical drop, no matter how heavily you load the CPU. A steep line, yes. But the vertical line indicates an instantaneous (or near instantaneous) drop in voltage. My guess is still that on an incorrect voltage reading, and the voltmeter suddenly adjusting for the error. As others have mentioned a factory reset resolves the issue, its possible some residual battery meter data is left over from a previous ROM.
my one x started going crazy yesterday, pressing its own buttons and what not. i rebooted and it stopped. now today its doing it again and it wont stop no matter what. i tried nandroid, factory resetting. can i use kennethpenns stock 1.85 update tool to go back stock in case i have to send it in? how does that work? does anyone have any advice?
is it the capacitive buttons? do you have a really tight case on the phone by any chance?
no gunny, phones naked and has never been dropped or seen water... havent really flashed anything in the last 5-6 days... its throughout the system... even happens in twrp, no matter what rom im using.... when i get home ill try to get an official update and see what happens... but i did notice its mainly in one spot, mainly middle right of the screen... example would be in the calculator app in portrait, it keeps pressing the number 6
Weird. Hope you get an easy fix.

Maybe it doesn't get any easier than this, it felt hot so I turned my CPU freq wayyyy down... Started working right. Now I have it at normal levelsvand its fine? What the hell? Its the first hiccup this phone ever had... Certainly is weird.. wanted to add also, tried to flash roms I had, it kept saying failed.... Would it be a good idea to save my pics on computer and completely erase the sdcard?

No bro... Running h8's CM10... Minimum 384, Max 1512 on demand... I tell you what though, I am at work (welder) and in south Louisiana it was 92° and 85% humidity lol. best way is to relock and ruu
and use stock for a while see if it happens again..
if so...go exchange lol
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
That's what I'm looking to do... but Im Trying to read up on relocking before I try first.. never done it yet and I don't know anything about adb and fast boot, much less to ruu. But what's the odds of art or HTC rejecting me because of the boot loader stating "relocked"? Or was this fixed? And also what's the odds of rerooting? Should be good as long as I ruu 1.85 I believe.. that's what I was on when I rooted
Once you unlocked you can always unlock again. I wrote a adb primer. It's a sticky in general.

At&t insurance? *cough cough* fishing accident.
I'm really desperate here. I was at work on lunch playing with benchmarks and my phone decided to shut off and not respond to anything, even holding the power for 10-20 seconds.
CLEANROM V - SP1
Blackout kernel, newest - 3.0 i believe. 2.1 OC
I set the governor via SetCPU to Performance, set the OC to 2.1 and ran AnTuTu.
The screen shut off immediately. Obviously I panicked, tried to hold the button down for a hard reboot. Nothing.
I was at work, and I work in retail, so there's not many computers around to actually DO anything, but I was able to connect it to one, and the computer recognized it for a bit then showed an error that it couldn't install drivers. Old computer probably windows 98.
At home, my PC will recognize it for about a second and then disconnect. It's really quite annoying as the Windows sound is. :x
I'm offering a reward for help with this one. Please guys. Thanks.

I've been doing that button combo all day with no results. I definitely knew how to do it and that's what I was trying to do all day.
While I posted these threads I had the phone on AC power and I pulled it off to try his suggestion. It booted after about 15 seconds to normal boot where I immediately went to recovery to reflash the kernel with 1.8.
I'll be donating 50 dollars to make a wish and the screenshot will be in Scotts thread later today.

I have a quick question, I'm in the exact same boat you were in no charging light not booting up been trying the button combo all day, I was in linux so I didn't know about the windows sound but booting into windows it tries to install a qhsusb driver after it installs a usb input driver. Did yours do the same?

I ended up letting it charge for 20 minutes while I panicked on the Internet, I pulled it off, held the power and volume down for 10-12 seconds, let off the volume and kept holding power. It vibrated and showed the htc logo.
I'm not sure which drivers it tried to install but it only recognize it as a device for roughly .75 seconds. What got you to that point?

Well what mine does is No charging light it just died while browsing internet last night so I let it charge overnight, this morning tried all the button combos nothing. So reading your thread I booted into windows 7 and plugged it into the usb held down power and volume down (it always makes that annoying plugged in sound when I plugged it in) it makes the plug in sound but still a black screen but it tries to install the qsusb driver and fails and it also installs usb input driver. So I didn't know if maybe our situations were the same or not. It sounds like they are very similar to say the least I'm just trying to avoid sending it to HTC for warranty.
Mine played the connect sound then the disconnect and repeated really quick, so it was only connected for about a second.
Mine was disconnected from anything when I got it to boot. Mine did not show a charging light either on AC. It booted and had 78% so my battery was fine for the 6 hours I couldn't turn it on.

Hi Guys,
Have been following XDA for years since been with android and have been flashing my phones and others since. This problem i have not occured before and have only been experiencing since my last 2 flashes.
My day to day usage;
Listen to music 10 hours everyday, maybe more with headphones even while working.
Battery will last a good 20+hours maybe more
Play games and such and maybe make a few calls or sms thru out day.
every now and then when i unlock to maybe change song both touch screen and touch buttons will not repsond. I turned off and on swipe to unlock and still receive this bug every now and then. Not often but its a pain because it requires a hard reset.
Currently using Jelly bam with rohan kernal v6. I moved from m1KingKang. Both flashes have been fresh. including system wipe. these 2 are the only roms ive had this happen.
i have looked at other threads for other phones and they all say there is a problem, somthing wrong with the phone. I have had other roms where this does not happen.
My clock speed is set as min 500mhz and max 1700mhz
