HELP!!!!! - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

my one x started going crazy yesterday, pressing its own buttons and what not. i rebooted and it stopped. now today its doing it again and it wont stop no matter what. i tried nandroid, factory resetting. can i use kennethpenns stock 1.85 update tool to go back stock in case i have to send it in? how does that work? does anyone have any advice?

is it the capacitive buttons? do you have a really tight case on the phone by any chance?

no gunny, phones naked and has never been dropped or seen water... havent really flashed anything in the last 5-6 days... its throughout the system... even happens in twrp, no matter what rom im using.... when i get home ill try to get an official update and see what happens... but i did notice its mainly in one spot, mainly middle right of the screen... example would be in the calculator app in portrait, it keeps pressing the number 6

Weird. Hope you get an easy fix.

Maybe it doesn't get any easier than this, it felt hot so I turned my CPU freq wayyyy down... Started working right. Now I have it at normal levelsvand its fine? What the hell? Its the first hiccup this phone ever had... Certainly is weird.. wanted to add also, tried to flash roms I had, it kept saying failed.... Would it be a good idea to save my pics on computer and completely erase the sdcard?

Were you using a ROM that was OC'd, or did you have your phone overclocked on an unusually high level?

No bro... Running h8's CM10... Minimum 384, Max 1512 on demand... I tell you what though, I am at work (welder) and in south Louisiana it was 92° and 85% humidity lol. Maybe there was condensation inside? Oh well, seems all is well now... But then again, I thought the same thing when it briefly happened to me yesterday.....

OK now I'm just aggravated... I pretty much narrowed it down to the heat. As long as I was in the shop working my phone would go nuts. I would go sit in the office for a while and it would pretty much be normal... back to the shop and it goes nuts... now I'm off of work at the house, waiting to prove to my wife why I couldn't call or text today and my phone is making me look like a dumbass lol. Its working fine.... wtf phone make up your mind!!!

best way is to relock and ruu
and use stock for a while see if it happens again..
if so...go exchange lol
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app

That's what I'm looking to do... but Im Trying to read up on relocking before I try first.. never done it yet and I don't know anything about adb and fast boot, much less to ruu. But what's the odds of art or HTC rejecting me because of the boot loader stating "relocked"? Or was this fixed? And also what's the odds of rerooting? Should be good as long as I ruu 1.85 I believe.. that's what I was on when I rooted

Once you unlocked you can always unlock again. I wrote a adb primer. It's a sticky in general.

Gunnyman I often wonder what would happen to my poor phone if you weren't around lol... thanks, I must have skimmed over it in a frenzy looking for tools to relock and ruu..
I've been off of work for 3 hours now and my phone hasn't had one single glitch. So I'll give it one more day to see how she acts. I have everything downloaded ready to roll if it happens again... she acts up and I'll have to knock her down a few notches

Should I return it?

So I have something funky going on. When someone calls me my phone rings. Do you think its defective? Should I return it? Also my power button is crooked and slants over to one side. Its a moving part and moving parts shouldn't do this right? I mean buttons shouldn't have any play right?? :-D Sorry I couldn't help myself. Hahahahha

My phone has done this once or twice before but my solution to this was draggin the green "answer" button to the circle. It stops the ringing and whoever is calling ends up on the phone and you can hear them.
Not too difficult. I mean HTC should have fixed this issue before they even released the phone
Lmao. My phone is also defective. When I press the button with a house on it, it closes the app. Soooooooo annoying.

Lighten up.. In a perfect world everything would be perfect, but we dont live in a perfect world. If you look at EVERY single device there will always be issues with some units. I happen to not have any major issues with my sensation. My wifi drops a little when I hold it landscape but it's not horrible and oesnt drop the connection. any other issue I have are all software related glitches. If you look at every forum people complain about issues on every device. I was just making light of it because people seem to have major OCD. If you didnt think the thread was funny you shouldnt have even bothered reading it or replying. NOTHING is perfect in this world yet we expect everything to be perfect. Come back when you remove the stick out of your ass..

Apparently, HOME button is supposed to teleport you back home, but gets confused because it doesn't know where you live and take you to HOMESCREEN instead (dumb thing, with all the gps and location services it should know where i charge it and sleep). Rumours are that this is going to be fixed with update in August. If it's not, there is always a DEV for that.
EDIT. I think we should start a petition for that, HTC seems to do anything we want if we put enough pressure on them, so they might push this bugfix sooner.
I returned mine and went back to my rooted and ROM'd vibrant and I don't regret it....BUT I'm considering waiting maybe another month or until we get full root and S-OFF to maybe give the sensation another chance. I wanted to like the phone, I really did, but didn't feel that the sensation in it's current stock state was really what I wanted. Either way...it's a GREAT multimedia phone and web surfer, kinda crappy at being an actual phone tho in my opinion...

Please explain, I've had zero issues as far as the device functioning as a phone.
On a side not, it's really driving me nuts that when press the "loose" button at the top my stupid phone keeps showing me the current weather with all these highly functional shortcut options on how to unlock. Anyone know how to change that? I want it to be stupid and work like an iphone!

Dropped phone in liquid

So I dropped my phone in a bowl of soup... Yes lmao! But anyways my back cover save it big time, only the top half of my phone when in, I pulled the battery off, sim card and sd card, wipe it and I checked it and both water marks are still white then I put it in a bag with rice. 24 hrs later I put the battery in, it turned on and everything works, except it was showing the headphones icon, I clean out the headphone hole again, turn it off, turn it back on and it was gone, I unroot it just incase it started to act up I could swap it out.( i have insurace) It's been a full day and no issues
OK so my question is should I root it again now or wait to see if something stops working? I think by now something should of been affected already but what do you think?

if you have insurance and won't cost you anything to replace the phone, then use it.
Other than that, rooting or unrooting won't matter on a phone that's been dropped in water.

Sorry I guess I didn't make my question clear, what i was really asking was that my phone is working right now, but does my phone run a high risk of something going bad in the next few days or I'm just lucky and nothing broke?
Might be a dumb question but I never had any phone dropped in liquid so I'm not aware if the phone stops working right away or it takes a few days for it to go bad
Don't want to root and then something stops working and I won't be able to flash stock.

[Q] Phone Dead after Unlocking Bootloader

Using the program here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835791
I tried to unlock my bootloader. Everything seemed to go fine until the program said the phone was rebooting.
The display went dark as if rebooting but never came back on. Since that moment I can't get the phone to power up at all. I can't get into recovery or download mode. The screen doesn't seem to even try to come on. The phone acts as if it has no battery installed even though the battery is there.
Anyone have any suggestions or do I have a legit brick?

Could be a major detail that some might overlook. That'd for sure do it. I got rid of my OG few weeks ago n I'm still stock so I wouldn't know this, but doesn't the process only take like 10 seconds if that? The actual flashing that's taking place. So it'd have to be quite the odds to lose juice in the middle of flashing. But wouldn't it be charging if its plugged in usb? I hope that my man who posted this gets it powered back up. Would be a major bummer otherwise.

Yes I have tried it without the battery. Right now I'm letting it sit without any battery or power to it to allow all components to discharge. I'll try it again in a couple of minutes.

Just to make sure you read and followed all steps right? This one seemed crucial
**** IF YOU HAVE ANY PROGRAMS THAT SYNC WITH YOUR PHONE THEY NEED TO BE UNINSTALLED OR NOT RUNNING BECAUSE THEY CAN CAUSE BRICKS, Pdanet, easytether, droid explorer, kies, etc., etc., on down the line. I repeat if you have a program on your computer that syncs with your phone, it is NOT COOL TO HAVE THAT RUNNING! ****
Just trying to narrow down what the hell could cause the device not to power back up, also how long did you leave the device plugged before disconnecting or pulling the battery. Did oden stop responding or say anything other then rebooting ?

Or instead of paying shipping plus not having a phone for a week or so, you could file an insurance claim... Haha. Last I checked Asurion was still giving new phones due to lack of refurbs.
I had to run out quickly earlier to get a new sim for my Thunderbolt so I can have a phone to use in the meantime. The sim I had for it didn't work.
Some good suggestions. Thanks everyone. I'll have to ponder my options few as they are.

I had this happen on an HTC phone one-time. No joke, but to fix it, I think it ended up holding down power + volume down or up and then put the battery in. I tried a bunch of combinations like that until it booted. Same thing when taking the battery out. Does the red light show when the phone is plugged in?

Random Intense Vibration?

I've looked around here and haven't seen an issue similar to what's going on with mine.
It's happened a few times now, where the phone just randomly starts to vibrate, for ~5 seconds. No notifications, not even touching the phone. It just randomly vibrates. My last One X I swapped out on Friday due to some sound issues, that one never did this strange vibrate. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time it's done this in just as many days.
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Thanks.

I just meant that I've been out of the flashing scene for about a year until recently and this phone has a different method, plus the fact that it took me 2 days to get everything backed up, set back up how I like, etc. I've lost my nerve I guess. I used to be a serial flasher of roms back in the Eris days. New rom that nobody's tried yet? Sure thing. These days I'm even hesitant to flash something if it's tried and true and nobody is seeing any problems. Plus the fact that my hardware is messed up. (I dropped it in water twice by accident and the screen also broke in a separate incident)

Damn, still working after water twice, nice! Just do a backup before, so if you don't like it, you can restore everything you had. And, if your S-ON, remember to flash boot.img separately.

Yeah, it's a good thing I always keep rice in the house in easy reach. But the phone is fine except that neither camera works. Pretty annoying seeing as the camera is so awesome on the HOS.
Will be definitely trying this, I was wondering, you think this might help my losing signal issues, getting the X all the time it's driving me nuts lol. I am with Cincinnati Bell but i think they work through T-mobile. Anyway thanks for this bud much appreciated.
ROM looks great man, downloading now and will flash tomorrow. Hope I don't have the WiFi issue anymore, reaaally wanna use this
I'm having the same gps problem I have with Viper; when you go to a site thru Chrome that desires location access, gps never turns on! It turns on for Maps and other things when you test it, but not through Chrome. Browser works tho, strangely...

Sounds like a Chrome issue maybe. I haven't touched any GPS items yet, so its either Chrome, or something T-Mobile jacked up.

I just did another clean flash and i still can't get screenshot to work (power+home). I tried [ROM][S4][MAY8]V1.6 T-Mobile HTC One S JellyBean Stock/Rooted/deodexed/ and screenshot work. Then I did another clean flash (full wipe) of your ROM, screenshot still not working.

Are you pressing it quickly or holding it for a few seconds. Mine works perfectly, but you should be pressing Power+Volume Down, which is stock for this ROM.

I think I may have found the issue with Chrome...I believe I deleted a ChromeBackgroundSync apk on accident. This may be causing the issue...maybe not, but I'll put it back and test. If it works I'll release an update tonight...if I'm not lost in Double XP Weekend on Black Ops 2
