How new is the phone? Stock or custom? Have you tried a factory reset since you got the phone?
When I first got my HOX I was experiencing the same issue, it would happen ever so often. I did a factory reset and that seemed to fix the problem. I also installed CleanRom and I saw an improvement in my battery life as well. I know some people are experinceing heating issues that causes the batt to tank like that. Download GSM battery to see if an app is running in the background causing it to over heat. Also if you have your phone rooted you can DL SetCPU and set up a profile to underclock it when it get's too hot.

It's happened to many people before.
Nobody knows why it happens, but people say restarting it helps sometimes

Were you using Chrome with tilt scrolling enabled? (It's enabled as default) That can eat your battery in a few minutes. Or maps?
My only guess because the significant drain happened when screen was awake and phone on.
I don't think it's the signal bug... It shows your signal as straight green, so it's consistent.

Did anyone else think this would be a sense pun?

Nope. First time anything like this has ever happened. No idea what the hell caused it.

I was having issues like this too. He's running Xi40. I had that problem with that ROM too. Went to bed with it fully charged, woke up with it at 47%. Huge down spikes in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.
Flashed CleanROM 4.5 RC1 and the difference is amazing. Went out for over 10 hours yesterday and used it moderately and only consumed 34%. Something is up with that ROM. I have CleanROM setup and all the same apps installed as I did with Xi40 but the battery lasts much longer.

htc seem to have issues writing battery drivers.
the sensation and evo 3d battery drivers were completely ****ed up and htc managed to only fix the evo 3d but not the sensation

The network signal in the pic is fully green, no signal drops. Signal drops show as red. Also, from what I've seen, the dropped data signal issue results in a really steep line, but not a dead vertical one. This looks more like the incorrect voltage being read, and the volt meter correcting itself.

Or, since the phone was awake and the screen was on, it was heavily loaded (process stuck at 99% cpu, benchmarking, etc.). Either way, nothing to see here, move along.

I don't think you will see a vertical drop, no matter how heavily you load the CPU. A steep line, yes. But the vertical line indicates an instantaneous (or near instantaneous) drop in voltage. My guess is still that on an incorrect voltage reading, and the voltmeter suddenly adjusting for the error. As others have mentioned a factory reset resolves the issue, its possible some residual battery meter data is left over from a previous ROM.

I was having the same issue with my battery meter sticking. The same time this happens, my Setcpu app also was sticking and would full throttle the cpu. Im running the VirusRom right now, but have experienced this problem on a few of the other Roms also. My usual fix was just wipe everything and go with new install. It started happening again last night and I followed some posters advice to let the battery totally drain and then shutoff. I then recharged to full and everything seems to be fine again.
The first time it ever started happening was right after I had wiped the battery cache and rebooted. Ive stopped doing that now, but it still happens. I notice now that I usuallly experience this after a series of reboots. Not sure whats up, but draining the battery to zero helped out last night. We'll see in a day or two if it starts happening again.

Im actually done with ROMs until CM7 is ready. Im just going with a base rooted system and Ill use a custom kernel. Kernel is 99% of the improvement anyway.
Draining works for a day or so, then it does the same thing. I'm stock and it does it. It also does it with the stock battery. Hope they get it fixed with an update.

First problem

So I'm running inspired ace and I haven't noticed any problems until now. I noticed that after each
Charge my battery life is getting shorter and shorter. For instance when I first flashed the Rom,I got 26 hours off one charge with moderate use. Over the past 2 weeks its dropped from that and now,I pulled it off charger 7 hours ago and my battery is at 15%. The battery use is showing that the only thing eating a good piece of the battery is the display, and its only eating 42%. Is there something I'm missing? Is this a known issue discussed before? Is there another stock feeling sense Rom with GREAT battery life? Thanks in advance for any help

I haven't noticed that, running the same ROM solid since it was released.
Did you clear your battery stats upon flashing? How long have you been running the ROM? Have you installed any new apps since flashing? Have you been keeping an eye on any apps to see what's running as a service/using an abnormal amount of cpu?
Incidentally, I just got done logging 5h 45m screen-on time from unplug to low battery nag. No incoming/outgoing calls, gps off, WiFi on.
This is the highest I've gotten, and I really don't expect to see much more than that without messing with cpu settings and/or going to an AOSP ROM like...... GingerBeast.

What I've found, and what others in-the-know have said, is that a lot of these unexplained headaches can be caused by apps.
When my phone starts doing weird ****, with everything else being constant, no ROM changing, etc., I start clearing app data, cache, and if necessary, new apps themselves, until hopefully the problem goes away.
That's why I've personally taken it REAL slow with ROM flashing, for example. I want to know what works right with what, and I can't stand shooting in the dark when in comes to figuring out the source of a problem.

Just want to make sure we are all on the same page here.

so this wonderful phone we all have is a little... Buggy... I was one of those lucky people who wasn't having any issues with their phones now all of a sudden it gets a little laggy and the screen well shut off and not come back on (sometimes if I hit the power button repeatedly it will come back)... It kinda upsets me because I thought I had a good one... It was running fine after root, and after NVflash... It was after I started different kernels and roms that I had issues... Now I am running rooted stock with no other add ons and I am still having issues...
Question time.
Sounds like I am having the same issues as a lot of other people. True?
Should I get a replacement (sounds like a lot of the replacements are duds too) or just wait to see what the update brings?

I was happy in the beginning when it gave me an awesome experience and was wondering why people are complaining about such an awesome device, then it struck me out of nowhere and began rebooting like crazy.
I want to ride this beast to the bitter end... I am hoping that the end is MUCH further down the road... so as far as we know, the "update" will be fixing most o these issues... i guess I am going to hold off on the replacement... seems like those have the same issues too...

Ill leave my WiFi off all day tomorrow, then post a screenshot of my battery statistics (not the ones provided by Android) but more accurate ones from a app called "Battery Monitor" that gives a break down of use and what you had enabled. I don't want you to think I'm a liar or anything. I guess you could call me lucky but I have had nothing but good experiences so far. I haven't had any reboots, no lag, no freezing and great battery life. Probably better battery life than any other Android device Iv'e ever used. I take my phone off the charger at 7AM and don't return it until 9PM. Throughout the day I am making phone calls, sending texts, surfing the web, reading news from 4 different apps and playing some games. It also depends on how much your 4G signal fluctuates so it depends on your area. If your constantly going from edge to 4G then that is using up more battery than me if I am always getting a good 4G signal. The more work your radio has to do the more battery it will use. The phone is going to eat up percentages when the display is off but if it's eating up "Display" percentage then I would say you have a problem. If your device is in standby most ofthe day then "Cell Standby" will be at the top on the percentage list. It's doing what it's supposed to do. If there was something wrong, then display would be at the top of the list. Next time you take your phone off of the charger, play a game for 20 minutes right away then make a 10 minute phone call. At this point you should see "Display" and "Voice Calls" at the top and "Cell Standby" the bottom. If not then something is wrong. I know there are many people with bad battery's and ones who have had problems with multiple units. I am just not one of them.

Battery shows 99% when fully charged

So I charged my phone to get it to 100% and realized after looking at the battery graph that it had reached 100% but it was showing 99% and i had the amber led light on. So I turned off my phone and then the led turned green. It's a known thing and pretty much all smartphones do it, it just all depends on how the battery meters "lie" to you. Every manufacturer does it differently. Hypothetical example: When it reaches 100% and starts doing the discharge/trickle charge cycle the indicator may just stay at 100% even though it's cycling between say...100% and 97%, but when you remove the charger it may change to whatever the actual percent is. Or it may show you 100% and slowly reduce the percent it displays until it catches up with the actual battery percentage.
Anything above 95% is inaccurate to a certain degree on all modern smartphones.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
But then it sucks because my phone never reaches 100% and the green led doesn't turn on so I don't know when my phone is fully charged. I have to go into the battery graph to see when it actually reached 100%. It used to show 100% but after one day that my battery died on me completely, it hasn't shown 100% again

[Q] False battery percentage

Strangely, my battery stats have been highly inaccurate, sometimes dropping by 5% and on some occasion, the battery percentage doesn't even change after 20mins of screen on time usage. I know that the displayed battery percentage isn't 100% accurate, but this seems to be too far off.. Any idea what's causing this problem?

Strangely, my battery stats have been highly inaccurate, sometimes dropping by 5% and on some occasion, the battery percentage doesn't even change after 20mins of screen on time usage. I know that the displayed battery percentage isn't 100% accurate, but this seems to be too far off.. Any idea what's causing this problem?

Is the battery dying any faster?
Not at all. Battery life has been excellent.

I would think it's more likely to be the ROM. What caused it exactly? no idea.
Thank you! Someone else with this problem. I'm so glad that it's not me. I posted something about this a few months back and no one had any idea what I was talking about. Here's a screenshot just as an example of what OP and I are experiencing I snapped a few months backed which illustrates it perfectly. This has happened on every ROM I've tried, be it AOSP or Sense.
Did either of you try RUUing to see if it continues?

I thought about it, but I've been pretty busy lately. If I get around to it and OP doesn't, then I'll post back here with my results.

I would appreciate that. I haven't experienced that issue on any configuration I've had so far and I've tested many configurations so I'm pretty curious.

Alright, so I actually have some free time today for little bit. If I have s-off I can just do that 2.20 RUU (I'm on AT&T)? Do I have to relock bootloader and/or flash stock recovery like with s-on?
@RollTribe
I'll be waiting for your results 2

If you're S-OFF no need to relock or worry about your CID or stock recovery, the RUU will flash just fine. :good:
Good news! The RUU was successful and I booted up into BB9. I coumld've sworn that RUU's wipe /sdcard but apparently not. So I obviously don't have enough hours left in the day to test the battery, but I'll let it drain to almost dead tomorrow. Kinda off topic but if anyone was hesitant to RUU on Windows 8, don't worry, because I just did.
Oops
Alright well today was an abnormal day of use, but the RUU did appear to fix it. I used my phone a lot in HSPA so it APPEARS that it has the massive drains, but it all seems to be a 1% drain when I'm actually using. Here's a screenshot.

Everything is good day 2.
Uh oh... Looks like RUU didn't fix it. My phone went from 14% straight to 8% and then directly from 8% to dead. I'm stating to think that this is a hardware problem.
I agree, sounds hardware related at this point.

I had the same issue with HTC Desire too, yet even worse. It would normally die at 30% Maybe this is a known hardware problem?

I wonder if replacing the battery would help?
