[Q]Touch screen doesnt respond 10% of time - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

HTC ONE XL
Hi Guys,
Have been following XDA for years since been with android and have been flashing my phones and others since. This problem i have not occured before and have only been experiencing since my last 2 flashes.
My day to day usage;
Listen to music 10 hours everyday, maybe more with headphones even while working.
Battery will last a good 20+hours maybe more
Play games and such and maybe make a few calls or sms thru out day.
every now and then when i unlock to maybe change song both touch screen and touch buttons will not repsond. I turned off and on swipe to unlock and still receive this bug every now and then. Not often but its a pain because it requires a hard reset.
Currently using Jelly bam with rohan kernal v6. I moved from m1KingKang. Both flashes have been fresh. including system wipe. these 2 are the only roms ive had this happen.
i have looked at other threads for other phones and they all say there is a problem, somthing wrong with the phone. I have had other roms where this does not happen.
My clock speed is set as min 500mhz and max 1700mhz

I have not changed any voltages.

Alarm not going off

Anyone having issues with recurring alarms not always going off? I have used my cell phone as my recurring weekday work alarm for years, and so far the One-X has failed to go off about 10 times in the month since i got it.
I wonder if this has something to do with the phone going into "deep sleep" mode at night. It certainly is good about not using a bunch of standby battery overnight, but i'd take a little drain to ensure that i'm not late for work.
I think i'm going to try keeping it plugged in all night to see if that fixes the problem, because if i remember right it has been the nights that i leave it sitting unplugged when it doesn't go off.
Thanks!
I've always used alarming app as my alarm and it has had no issues.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I've had that issue. Also the timer app consistently doesn't go off. I blame the multi tasking issue.
It's quite the annoyance, and it wasn't fixed by the official OTA 1.85 update. I'm curious to hear from folk running custom ROMs. That might indicate whether it's a multitasking issue or a "deep sleep" issue.
No problems here, I use 3 different alarms and all work flawlessly. Try deleting and re-creating.
I haven't had any issues, I have my alarm set for every day of the week and it hasn't failed me yet! Double check all your settings/etc. Make sure you didn't make a mistake!

Its not a settings issue. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. I have it set to wake me up for work at 5:20 and it failed to go off a couple times so now i have another actual alarm clock to wake me up at 5:19. Ive woken up a couple times to it not going off. It doesn't do it that often, maybe 1 time every two weeks. The timer is what bothers me. It consistently doesn't go off. As soon as I unlock the phone, then the timer goes off, but if it is locked, the timer wont go off.

Yeah, i'm sure the two issues are related (timer and alarm). Are you stock or running a custom ROM? Like to know if the multitasking "fixes" in some of these roms remedies the issue.
I had a similar problem that turned out to be a clock issue. The clock would fall behind when I was on wifi and it went into deep sleep, and when it woke up...it would stay behind...even if I have network settings checked, or unchecked...all the usual stuff was troubleshooted. When the clock catches up to the real time...it skipped the alarm because it jumped ahead 20 minutes or whatever the time that it was behind. I called at&t, and their best advice was restore to factory. My phone hasn't done it since I restored and alarms are now flawless.
Good luck

Yes. I've had this very same issue. Started using Alarm Clock Extreme Free. Works great & u can set it up so you have to solve a math problem to shut it off.

I'm running CleanRom 3.1 SE and this has been happening to me. Last two days in a row I've been late to work, I just flashed CleanRom 3.1 SE over the previous version three days ago.
I am going to upgrade to 3.1.1 tonight with multitask mod v.2 and see if it helps.
Side note: I tried setting the alarm on my g2x instead last night. That horrible phone drained to zero battery from a full charge doing nothing xD. I need to stop using phones as alarm clocks..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Since I posted this I have switched to Cleanrom 3.1.1 as well. I haven't had the issue again, but I think what has solved it is keeping it plugged in overnight. Can't say for sure if the rom changed the behavior at all. Plugging it in was making it work consistently when it was stock too.
My phone is always plugged in at night. This issue still occurred.

i traded my white one x for a white rooster and havent been late to works in weeks!

Try deleting the alarm and making a new one. I did that as well.
Updated to 3.1.1 SE via the patch and my alarm went off this morning. I'm claiming it's an issue with the memory mod v1

This is a very scary issue because like most people my alarm is my phone. Have you guys pin pointed a problem yet. Is everyone affected on a cleanrom?

WidgetLocker and One X

Hey there xda people, just wanting to let you people know that the WidgetLocker (app) for me at least causes some multi touch problems with the one x.
The problem that it causes is whenever your holding one finger down on the screen to like say control a virtual analog for a game so you can move around and then tap anywhere on the screen to shoot or something. The first finger hold gets wiped out and causes movement to stop. All in all its causes a horrible experience while playing games.
I was having this issue forever until today when I wiped my phone clean and everything works fine with games and stuff until I installed WidgetLocker and I get the issue again. So this issue was fixed when I stopped using the app.
Not sure if a lot of people uses this app but I've been using it since I bought my first Android (sgs ii) and it's a great way to customize your lock screen with widgets and stuff. I'm definitely going to let the developer know about this bug when I have time, my guess as to why this happen is the way that it unlocks your phone that messes up the multitouch.

I just tried uninstalling Widget Locker on Nocturnal 111 and I am still getting this bug. I will try to reboot and see if that fixes it for me

I didn't have to restart, just had to lock the phone then unlock it again with the stock lockscreen.

You are right. When I woke up this morning, it was fixed.
MiLocker causes the same issue... How sad.

Glad to see your issue was fixed. The good thing though is that I'm in love with my phone again lol.
Although I was trying out cm9 alpha 3 earlier this week and I'm pretty sure I was getting the same issue without WidgetLocker. Maybe the locker with cm9 causes this issue as well?
I could be wrong with cm9 though as I may have downloaded the app but didn't use it so that could've cause the problem as well.

I ran into this issue a while ago... here is a thread I started about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665603
I never did resolve the issue (aside from disabling Widget Locker), nor did I get around to contacting the developer...
However, it appears this does not affect all One Xs using WL as several other people tested and were able to use Widget Locker with out breaking multitouch on the One X.
I checked out this and mesaone's thread as I was having this issue too. Turns out I was able to fix it by disabling HTC gestures in the Display & Gestures settings menu. DoomGLES now runs without a hitch and I'm able to both move and fire/open doors at the same time. I haven't tested much beyond the DoomGLES test but if anything changes I'll report back.
EDIT: It appears the solution was short-lived; quitting fully out of the applications, turning off the screen, turning it back on and unlocking and then relaunching the app caused the issue to return. On the other hand, simply disabling widget locker for the duration of the game works fine (and unless you're turning your phone off and on a lot while playing games, probably not a big deal). No need to uninstall.
ONe X and Widgetlocker
I have had Widgetlocker for 2 years on my HTC desire. Now upgraded to One X and I have a problem with answering calls.
If the phone is locked and I get a call, I get the call answer option but then have to put in my unlock number. By this time the caller has hung up. Previously on my HTC desire I could answer by pulling the screen slider down even if the phone was locked.
Have I missed a setting??
Help would be good
Thanks
TA
The only option would be to not use widgetlocker if you don't want to have problems (that is if you do have problems). I want to confirm that this issue occurs in CM9 even without the widgetlocker app, not sure if others are getting this issue but I suppose I'll be CM9less till it is addressed and fixed.

CM9 and AOKP in general currently have a multitouch bug, whether its with WidgetLocker or not.

Phone overheating and wiping?

Well i had a pleasent suprise of my phone quite litterally burning up in my pocket after browsing on XDA. Unfortuantly i didnt notice and later found my phone off. After plugging it into the charger i had no light which made me panic but magically my phone turned on after a few minutes. Apon bootup the green led flashed 3 times and now my phone appears to be wiped...
Any idea what the hell is going on?
I was running ViperXL 1.2.0 and had a severly undervolted CPU that i had tested for the past week and was stable. Runing Blaackout Beastmode kernel 3.0.
flash the stock kernel. overclocking etc always messes with hardware.

[ISSUE] Question about my HTC ONE XL

So at random times my phone will just vibrate... Non stop, until I hit the back button or home button. Just wondering what may be causing this problem. I'm running Calkulins one XL rom

Undervolting
Sent from my HTC One XL
I've had the vol down button stuck on before which caused my phone to vibrate non stop so I suppose you could try pressing it a few times to see. Happened to my Desire HD after it went for a little swim in a gutter.
If you've taken care of your phone.. as in no dropping it, throwing, doing stupid things with it. It's because of your custom kernel. You've undervolted it. That's your phones way of telling you, "Hey, I don't like this undervolting thing. Put me back to stock."
Does this vibration only happen when you press the back button?
Sent from my HTC One XL
Its a feature. Wifey loves it
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
xD lmao and undervolting... I doubt it would do that because it would do it when I got it from skizzmcnizz.... Actually it did it the day before I went and bought my micro SIM card from AT&T. I have never EVER dropped my phone. Its like my baby lol

I got random vibrations from stock.....maybe once a month or so. Continuous until input given.
Felt like a bug / glitch in an app / notification bus or something.
Have to read up on this undervoltage thingy.

Okay so I'm not going crazy haha it did it when I was on ice cream sandwich and did it when I'm on jelly bean. Thank you, I think it may be a glitch also... It only happens when I do extreme excessive multitasking... Going from facebook, texting, gmail, internet games.. ect...

It happens when you press the back button, not because you're multitasking. 2 people asked if you noticed that but you ignored it. This is a well known bug. Many people experience it in the xda app. As said above the phone will continue to vibrate until another button is pressed.

It would only apply if you are running a custom kernel with undervolting active.

Sense getting very slow, restarts itself sometimes

Hi Folks
I have a stock HOX, over the last month or two sense has been getting veeerrrryy sloooow, so slow that when flipping between home screens I actually have to stop and wait as the screens judder across. This usually happens when I start using the phone after not haveing interacted with it for an hour or two or when it has just been turned on if it was off for some reason...
Most of the slowness goes after a couple of minutes, except for on the home button, most of the time I press it and nothing hapens so I press again and again, then all of a sudden all the home presses act at once at the screens start flipping around like crazy!
Also if the phone is on charge and screen is off I usually have to press the power button several times before the screen will trn on again...
Another issue that seems to also be cropping up is, especially while on charge, the phone will jsut turn itself off! Sometimes itwill restart again by itself, sometimes it doesnt!
Anyone have any solution to get my phone back in good health?

Ummm, I don't know... where can I find that setting? I do usually have power save on if that would enable the cpu speed change...though I also meant to mention that even with this on my battery performance seems to be getting worse and worse
What Rom? Typically its in a performance setting or done using a 3rd party app.

Bah! Egg on my face! Clearly I didn't read attentively enough.
My apologies. Your options are to factory reset or RUU, if neither of those work, It's a hardware issue.
Factory reset. I would also try another launcher to see if it behaves the same. I (still) have problems with sense being choppy but ONLY when I use the Yahoo mail official app, for some reason slows down the system considerably. I stopped using it all together and use the stock sense mail app and everything is going well now. You might have a rogue app, so i would try a reset.
