Just so you know if you go to the development section and on the XDA app you will see there are three tabs at the top ....one says topics one says stickies one says announce. If you click the stickies tab there are all the tutorials , guides , and FAQs you need . Make sure you are in the dev section then click the stickies tab ......

The only pain is for all you crack flashers that flash 5 roms a day (which is ridiculous)....and not having s off doesn't make it that much more time consuming to flash a Rom , all the roms have a boot IMG script that does all the commands for you , so if you already have fastboot and adb on your cp (wich you should if you flash roms) it is a minor issue ....
Sent from me

I got my answer from someone who owns both the gnex and the one s. The galaxy nexus rules. US crack flashers like to be able to flash whenever we want to or when we need to. Especially if I am away and a ROM isn't running as it should or if a kernel is buggy it's always nice to be a crack flasher. Opinions are like assholes.

Or the new virtuous Rom ?
Sent from my myTouch 4G Slide using xda premium
I thought getting S-Off would be hard with the new bootloader. All you really need is some free time (Hour at the longest), and some Tigers Blood (Keeping the SWAG up).
Carrier Unlock can be done for free, on a stock rom. A simple terminal command, and BAMN! Unlocked.
Rooting is so simple, ADB and 10 minutes.
Moto devices tend to not have a recovery image. Bootstrap is all you have. Going from an HTC device to Moto is a hard thing to do. When you root/unlock the device, alot of issues arise. Plus the D3 has no devs, only Hascode. You'll have 1, 2 good roms. Atleast here you have some more choice. Motorolla devices suck. I've worked with phones a better part of my life, and know many in the game. I'm best friends with a Motorolla phone tester. He's using the new Quad-Core Moto phone (Spyder 2X), pure Jellybean on it. It sucks ass, slower than slow. Our phone murders it in speed. I've never meet a happy moto owner. In the area i live in, having some best friends whos parents work for Moto is normal. Even there parent, engineers for the phones......say there P.O.S.

thank you sir you are a scholar
I'd hate for you to leave the doubleshot scene because you couldn't get the phone rooted. Its a great phone with great devs. Its a touch confusing, this one, because the firmware rev changed the process, and it may not be immediately apparent which of the instructions you need.
These are the steps I took three weeks ago to get a new-in-the-box 1.63 phone from its original condition to cm9. I ended up using hassoon's toolkit but not his gui. But the download contains adb, fastboot, a working recovery, and such dlls as are required. Used htc unlocker procedure, and I'm still s-on and it hasn't been an issue (except that I have to have my laptop to flash new roms.) So you can put the wire down.
Fetch hassoons toolkit. Fetch the HTC sync installer. I presume you've done all this, but I'm putting it down for the sake of completion. Download cm9 alpha6 to your phone's sdcard. Also, open the cm9 zip and copy the included boot.img to your computer. Probably should put it in the directory created by hassoon's, right next to fastboot.
Run the htc sync installer as far as installing the usb drivers. Cancel out before installing sync.
Extract hassoons toolkit somewhere handy.
Go to HTC's site and walk through the unlocker process. Use the binary adb in hassoon to perform the instructions therein.
Now you have hboot 1.63, unlocked, s-on.
Use fastboot in hassoon's kit to flash cwm. Don't forget to clear data and cache. I usually go ahead and wipe system and dalvik cache.
Boot into cwm. Install rom. Power down, then power up to hboot. Switch to fastboot mode.
Flash boot.img using fastboot.
Reboot.
Profit.
My phone is always with me. I'll pay attention to yer thread if you have more questions. Call it my contribution. Ftw.

Stuck in bootloop

So, I'll admit that this is my first android phone and I'll admit that I didn't take a bunch of time to learn anything about what I needed to do before rooting and unlocking and flashing and everything else.
My problem is, I've unlocked my bootloader just fine and I rooted my phone just fine. The problem came when I found Android Revolution HD, from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603, and wanted it. I didn't understand how to flash a new ROM or anything, but I went ahead and tried. I flashed several different boot images and recoveries so I don't even know where to begin. I flashed recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru and tried to use the boot.img from the link I posted. Now I can't boot into recovery or restart my phone or even do a factory reset. I'm afraid that I messed everything up to the point where I need a new phone or something. I know I should have spent more time with this before diving into it, I was just excited. Is there anything I can do? I'm sorry if my problem is vague..

first of all, you flashed a ROM and recovery not meant for your phone. Our One X is a snapdragon based phone codenamed evita.
can you get to boot loader anymore?
if so relock it
then install the factory RUU that matches the version you had before, probably 1.85
then spend about 2 or 3 weeks reading the threads in OUR development section before you unlock the bootloader and flash anything else.

This mistake is very easy to make for someone who just bought a phone. I know that the credo at XDA is rtfm but the mods of the respective forums really ought to make the effort to make the distinction more obvious.
HTC and AT&T should have done that.
Seems pretty self explanatory to me.

One problem is when you search xda one XL in Google, the first link is actually the correct forum.... however right under that it lists:
HTC one x Q & A
HTC one x Themes and apps..
Etc etc...
↑↑↑↑↑↑—— if you click on those options it goes to the International threads.. once your in its very easy to go on not noticing your in international waters. Ive caught myself in wrong forums more than once when xda app acts up and I use a browser....

I know I made the same mistake in my first ROM flashing experience. And I even knew that ROMs for the International One X were incompatible! I just had no idea what "endeavoru" meant.
Since then, I've been keeping track of many HTC One X terms, which I highly recommend the original poster take a peek at.
HTC One XL Terminology Glossary
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784459
Revolution HD seems to be a popular ROM for the International One X. Maybe they should explicitly note in the OP that it will likely brick an AT&T One X if flashed (if they don't already!)
This may also be a good thread to take a look at (if you don't feel bad enough already!)

Flashing Roms is not convienent With boot.img

Why is it that almost every if not every Rom made for one s s4 requires boot.img to be flashed before flashing the Rom
This device is not user friendly at all with Rom flashing
Samsung is a breeze ,so why is it that on other HTC devices boot.img are included in the flashing process ,hassle free with the one s you either have to fastboot flash it from a pc first ,when not everyone has a pc around .
What's the reasoning behind this boot.img prior to flaahing any actual Rom

You can also flash boot.img via recovery if you have hboot below 1.13. This is a limitation of the htcdev unlock, I believe.

Well, technically, since htcdev unlock does not give you S-OFF, it IS a limitation.
Point taken, still a sucky device in my opinion , its def a bottom end phone shoulda kept my s3 ....
On a side note ,I have been able to flash Roms without s off on other Htc devices
Never had to flash boot.img separate even with s on with my EVO lte or droid DNA both had s on.
Must be just this device only or maybe a few more others ,its still a huge hassle with newer hboot.
Even soft bricked earlier and lost my nandroid, had mount usb storage and download a Rom and sideload it into twrp just to get off the HTC one logo bootloop.
This was before I realized about the flashing boot.img prerequisite

This may be an ok point at best. Lots of phones are different in their abilities to customize, the ease of customization, and similarly, the ease of replacing phone hardware. But your point above is essentially moot due to how easily devs have made the s-off process. Sorry, but that is true. Say what you want, your comments may have been relevant last year (and indeed, the hboots post 1.09 were worth complaining about)... But not in 2013. And if you can somehow go through the bootloader unlocking process but cant take the extra few steps to get s-off (since it seems to difficult?) well then I dont know whats wrong... And I still dont understand how not being able to go through the S-OFF process makes this a bottom end phone? And how your soft bricking makes it a bottom end phone (bc of course its the phones fault and not yours, right?) Idk but if you dont like the phone go back to your S3... But dont say that this phone is objectively worse.... Its better for some people, and maybe not better for others.

But it is never ment to give soff.
I don't know a single manufacturer that is willing to give soff on their devices.
Since lower hboots flash the bootfile.

This device has worked perfectly for me. IMO, a thousand times better than the S3. The HTC One doesn't require S-OFF to flash the boot.img within recovery, so they must have changed their stance recently. Still, one of the first things when you flash a ROM is to learn how to flash it. It is in every ROM, you need to flash the boot.img. I don't think it is the device's fault if a user will not read instructions.

Not getting cocky, quite immature if you ask me. I am merely stating a fact that ROM installation instructions are available in every ROM thread or updater-script. It's your fault if you cannot read it. Should have tested the phone if you hated it so much.
Whatever, enjoy your build quality while it lasts
Blah blah blah ....blahh blahh
Bunch of wench ass girly boys trying to gain some notoriety ,everyone knows this phone is highly disregarded as a top tear device , they aren't even worth 100 used .Evidently and rightfully so no-one here has a penny to there name to get up on the latest and greatest which is NOT A HTC ONE S that's old as dirt in the Lineup... 1g Ram lmfao wtf ...
Ram like that is like buying and using an IBM from 1992,renders using the phone useless with lag, especially coming from note 2s and s3s
For the record the one I'm on is a spare someone I know had sitting rotting in a drawer that I'm using very much temporarily until my s4 ships tomorrow and I only came on here on bordem to see what kind of bs developemnt this thing had going on,
Clearly its at the same level you proud to own One s people are on ,which is not much to speak of !

LOL RAM??? Thats your only actual argument out of that silly tirade. That makes me laugh... The device is a year old, and most devices (including a few models of your S3) had 1G ram back then. The phone has a great form factor when compared to some other phones. With some good customizations, (replacing the internal batter too, which isnt that hard), and a good rom, you can get killer battery life out of this phone too.
But yeah, you just make me laugh.... OMG 1G ram, ooo nooooo doomsday is upon all One S users cuz of 1G RAM.... Hhahahahaha keep up the jokes!!! The phone was never as expensive as an S3 to begin with, and was released months before the S3... But yeah oooo 1 G RAM... I dont know what i am going to do... I may have to end it all right now..... hahahaha

[Q] How to get out of Bootloader

I have an AT&T HTC One X, with android 4.1.1. I had been scouring the internet for about three weeks now trying to figure out how to Unlock the bootloader. I finally figured it out. Then I did a perm root, applying superuserSU and i tried to flash CyenogenMod 10.0.0, and i got stuck in the CyenogenMod 10 loader. So i went back, and cleared the cache and data and dalvik. Then it loaded, and it started at the home scree. It didn't take me through a set up or anything. Then I tried to touch the screen, and it wasn't responsive. I tried re-applying it and what not, and then it just stopped working, the CWM Recovery kept saying it E: Cant Mount /sdcard, and it would have a long list of things it couldn't mount (which was litterally everything, and now I'm trying to just reset it to the stock HTC so i can try again. Can any one walk me through how to reset it?
And this is what happens when you don't read and start doing **** without knowing what you're doing.
So lazy.
If you do enough research in this forum to tell me why your touchscreen didn't work in cyanogenmod. I'll help you get your phone working again.

Not to be rude but OP i agree with exad. You didnt do any reading or research. You didnt ask questions first. But I'll get you to a working phone.
Just go to twrp again. Download viperXL. "Mount" in twrp and drag viperxl onto phone and flash that. You'll boot

Pft inflatedtitan is nicer than me
Avoid cwm it has low compatibility for the one xl. twrp 2.3.3.1 or below is recommended. (but that won't fix cm touchscreen issue)

Then what will? I know, I was overly eager and crap. I get that, but i posted here for help. Not criticism. I'm used to working with Samsung, and Apple. But if you can help, please just say it and don't direct me to another page.

Touchscreen issues are to do with HTC changing the drivers for newer 4.1.1 ROMs. What you want to do is downgrade the touchpanel firmware using h8rift's excellent guide. That downgraded touchpanel firmware will then work with all ROMs and also with newer TWRPs. I'm running 2.5.0.0 with no dramas here.

Also the reason you boot looped in the first place was due to htc's infamous "s-on" security feature. While s-on, you are required to fastboot any img file instead of flashing through recovery. Examples are splash screens, kernels, recovery imgs. If you also follow the super easy s-off thread, this will allow your phone to surpass any security checks, allowing you to simply flash anything you want.
So until you s-off, you have to flash the ROM then immediately boot into boot loader and fastboot flash the boot.img. then the rom will boot up just fine

No worries. If this stuff doesn't seem easy, it is because it isn't. There are no user manuals, support systems or helpdesks. All of us on here are just a community of like minded people. We encourage new members and especially those who are eager to read, learn and contribute.
Good luck with your phone, you will love what you can do with it!

I dissagree entirely. It is easy. If it seems hard, the only reason would be that one did not have the patience to do a little light reading beforehand. And when you flat out give responses to easy questions it only encourages ignorance. The touchscreen issue is posted in just about all aosp Rom op and in stickies and a search would have brought up at least 10 threads with the issue documented aswell.
Honestly it is easy, but there's a lot to learn and watch out for so it can easily be overwhelming. After you toy around with it and see what command does what, what to flash, how to flash it, it gets a lot easier. Just lurk here often and learn the terminology and you'll be successful. You may get called a dumbass but that's because a lot of users here are really sick of people asking the same questions over and over, or they're just blatent idiots.
PS. Use the latest Nightly of CM 10.1, the new 3.4 kernel is supposed to be really slick.
Also, flash the 2.3.3.0 version of TWRP, versions 2.4 and above seem to have problems.

Thanks guys. Like I said before. I'm new to the whole HTC world of modding. Its much different from The GS3 and iPhone 5. I have my phone. Wroking, and I'm running CyanogenMod 10.1 and I have S-Off. Thanks again.
PS. Dude. If you don't want to help, you sound like your so important, so go find some thing better to do if you can't be helpful.

I think he means me D:
I don't think people like it when I point out their lazyness and that they need to read more.
Searching before posting is encouraged here on xda. There are stickies with forum rules indicating so. It's not that I don't want to help people. I just don't want to answer the same questions over and over because lazy people can't take the time to search or check the faq.
No one here is getting paid to help. So do the entire xda community a favor and help yourself first. Then, if after searching and reading through some stickies you still don't know the answer. then post your question.
