Yes you will loose root... This for me anyway is for emergency use as it will take you all the way back to stock unrooted... There is also a certain way you use this option.... A quick Google search will get you the process...

No it's not the same, it's not rooted or tampered with, and the installation method is different. If you want to completely unroot your phone go flash the stock ruu
We don't need people like you complaining about roms you don't like, but you don't see me posting about that now do you?
The rom link is finished, and please don't flame me for sharing this "stock" "untampered" ota rom, thanks!

You did ask if we needed another. A RUU is essential for every official update IMHO
Yeah TBH, I just made this for myself to safely flash the official ruu to see how it runs without loosing my eng spl and custom recovery. And I must say it does seem to run very well for me

No you will not loose those things. The first post describes how to get into bootloader after flashing the update. Only your system partition (rom) and kernel will be the official ruu images.
I just noticed there may be a problem with the name of the .zip. There is a gap in the name so you will probably have to rename it and delete the gap in order for the recovery to be able to flash it.
I will work on fixing it later on but for now renaming it won't hurt the update at all
Thanks again, you have just created my new "fall back plan"...

Yeah this is good to unroot back to the latest factory update
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
This is also good for devs to get a chance to try the stock ota if they want to mess around with it. That was the main reason for this update. Hopefully someone will help to get the bootloader unlocked for people who buy a new evo shift . But luckily this update doesn't already have the locked bootloader in it

I just flashed this, and with all my problems, it flashed, but when i reboot, i get to the sprint splash screen, and it just blinks there. So I am currently restoring back to my problematic rom. How can I get the blinking away? That's the only problem.
Are you wiping your system partition?
Sent from my CyanoSpeedy
the updater-script wipes system, data, so that is strange.

for me to explain the 'whole' process would take a whole new thread. and it would be a sticky. if you really want to learn i invite you over to the team whiskey irc. if you get in the irc there are a few ppl who can walk you through it. but i would offer up more than a thx for their time. offer to donate to their paypal or something.

great work football
Thanks a bunch as usual Football. I always wait for full RUU's these days instead of OTA updates.
I don't have an evo, I helped someone root there's and have them on sprintlovers ROM. I did try to find a clearcut answer but will ask here anyway.
Would running this set the phone back to stock, unrooted with s on? They need to take it back to sprint n im trying to give them an easy method as I haven't had a chance to meet with them to follow the unroot method... Thanks for any help/explanation

No..OTA will turn S On but this is rooted RUU so you can flash it like you normally would
Edit: sorry for some reason I thought i was commenting in the thread with the stock rooted ruu by virus. Anyways it will unroot your phone but will still be S-OFF

Hi,
Just to clarify, I do not believe this is rooted. Football is providing the RUU so this is the untouched OTA for development purposes.

One click root? All in one tool?

Nothing to see here, I'll wait til the official tool is released by the dev.
Looks like Adam has combined a bunch of the best root & recovery tools into one easy to use package. The DebugFS root is also available separately here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342

Depends on the root method. If this replaces the rom then yeah you will lose everything, but if you use this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342
then you will not have to change anything and it's pretty straight forward.

I had to do a factory reset on my phone yesterday to troubleshoot another issue, so I can't say 100% but the few changes I made earlier today (wallpaper, lock screen shortcuts, ringtones, installed Pandora) stayed in place. From the script, it just copies files over and then moves them to system partition during next couple boots. It does not wipe data / cache / dalvik like when you load a new ROM.
I don't know about the java tool here but the one Aquila mentioned ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342 ) works perfectly.
You won't lose settings or have to clear anything. Its really useful if you're on the VRALG1 firmwares and don't want to revert to LF2 from flashing a rooted ROM.
I downloaded to my pc, then hooked up my gs3 nothing? What an I suppose to do?
Never mind it worked

Should move this Thread to the development section. And let the Devs tell us if this is good or not, Pros and cons.
just noticed that Adam is a dev.but should move to development so it can be seen more!!
This tool works well without loss to data...of course no one but you is responsible if something goes wrong but from what I see it uses the debug method I have used it and obtained root fine

I'm going to go ahead and say it...
Adam posted this in the development thread where they are working on cracking the bootloader. If he wanted the masses to be using it or if it was ready for the masses to use he would have posted it outside of that thread.
I don't know if it was bc of this thread or not, but this got picked up by droid life and he had to take it down off the R&D thread.
Stuff like this shouldn't be reposted outside of that thread until it is ready and the dev who came up with it says it is ok to do so (or just posts it himself).

It may be safe, it may not be. I would go with there is a reason he hasn't released it to the public and you should use previously established methods for all this stuff.

If you click the stickies tab there are all the tutorials , guides , and FAQs you need . Make sure you are in the dev section then click the stickies tab ......

The only pain is for all you crack flashers that flash 5 roms a day (which is ridiculous)....and not having s off doesn't make it that much more time consuming to flash a Rom , all the roms have a boot IMG script that does all the commands for you , so if you already have fastboot and adb on your cp (wich you should if you flash roms) it is a minor issue ....
Sent from me
I got my answer from someone who owns both the gnex and the one s. The galaxy nexus rules. US crack flashers like to be able to flash whenever we want to or when we need to. Especially if I am away and a ROM isn't running as it should or if a kernel is buggy it's always nice to be a crack flasher. Opinions are like assholes.
