Thanks for the zips. Have just installed on my cm10 based paranoid ROM. It seems to have installed two extra apps to the already existing dspmanager. Can't work out if there is any difference to the music/sound quality from before installing. Am I doing something wrong. How can I test if it's working or not ?

They just boost your DSP manager (which is already there) and collect all the audio specialities from different devices into one.
Basically, your audio output is supposed to have increased in quality and clarity ~and so.
You can just say that your device now has the bragging rights of beats audio, dsp manager, xloud, dolby sound, surround sound and all of the official audio improvement softwares on android
But its up to you to find the difference in audio :good: i just provided the software files

How many threads do you need?
[COMPILATION] Audio MODS
DSP Manager flashable zip
Just make one, and modify it as you change and add things.
That'll stop the clogging of the forums with more or less the exactly the same thing reworded.
Also perhaps you should add a bit of credits as to where you got your original files from.
I'm guessing:
(MOD)Beats Audio(2.3+up)07/31/12
[MOD]Modified DSP Manager with BEATS audio. For CM9, MIUI & AOKP.(6.25.12)
etc.

A stand alone equalizer. It works by default for all sound and can be disabled, if desired. This version allows independent equalizer for the headphone, speaker, and bluetooth. (New GB apk version contains additional settings.) I am not the DSP Manager dev…just making it available for those whose ROM doesn't include and would like to try and see if it works for them.
Should work on many ROMs and newer phones. You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup…I’m not responsible for problems...YMMV
For Froyo: Flash zip file like ROM, kernel, theme, etc. The proper Froyo library files will be added along with the app. Suggest you wipe cache and dalvik cache. If you have an older version in my test it appears you can flash over it and it will overwrite older files and update it. As always recommend NAND backup first.
For Gingerbread: Install apk file. Newer Android GB ROMs (appears to work up through GB 2.3.5) are no longer dependent on audio library files to be added to get DSP working. You should be able to just install a DSP apk to get it working. I've attached an apk. Do Not Use the Zip...that's for Froyo ONLY. As always recommend NAND backup first.

i dont think for my kind of usage an equalizer will make much difference...BUT, i'm interested in being able to raise the volume of the speaker...is that something I can get done with this app? and if so, can the volume really be increased any noticeable amount without risking damaging the speaker?
thanks in advance!
gonna give it a whirl on a few different sound systems, never use headphones though so don't know how helpful this will be.

Yes, but without the library file included it does absolutely nothing.
crap....submitted twice..sry
Is there a newer version that works over Bluetooth?
yes actually if you check out Vaelpak it has been using this in the last few updates before it showed up in EVIO 1.3. so if you are looking for it w/bluetooth its in that rom. try it out or at least thats were a newer version is available

You could raise the gain to increase "apparent" volume but with these tiny speakers probably shouldn't do too much.

Since you know how to do this stuff with ROM building you may want to go to devs site http://bel.fi/~alankila/android-dsp/ and get newest source http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_DSPManager. That even includes equalizer for bluetooth devices. If you do and could create a flashable zip with the newest version sure would like to have to post here for others to use as a stand alone.
Jim
Thanks for submitting.
Installed and working fine on headset...will try out speaker when I get out of the library.
In the meantime...how can I uninstall this? After flashing it pandora force closes and won't open at all. Need to uninstall to diagnose what is causing the problem...
If I have to pick dsp or pandora I pick pandora!

This is actually the exact same Beats Audio mod that I use, minus its framework file mine included. Add the b1.jar to /system/framework/.
It's missing 2 framework files for the Bravia Engine mod. You can either delete the "add_to_buildprop.sh" and not use Bravia, or add the 2 attached com.sony.... files to /system/framework/ in the zip to use Bravia Engine.
Remove the .txt at the end before adding the files to the zip.

Flashed the zip you uploaded and thankfully no problems faced!
I'm on will5's MIUI 2.5.25 GB 2.3.7 ROM
Booted as per usual but I did a backup of /System anyway just in case of any hiccups or if I don't like what I'll get but...
I DO like what I've got
Music sounds fantastic now. Seems clearer (I said seems), the bass is clearly better (not just louder or punchier, just... AWESOMER!!! MEGABASS).
Turned off the equalizer on the MIUI Music Player 'Normal' preset to 'None' and it sounded even better than before with the equalizer on my ATH-CKP300!
Its definitely better bass as promised (hopefully not psuedo as people claim its just because you're trying to notice harder than usual) although I'm not geeky enough to get any tests running on the output differences.
Thanks for the share!
Note to others: Despite how much I'm loving it, I seriously discourage this to non-bass-fanatics.
I'm aware that the level of bass I enjoy is not quite the taste of many and some even find it painful.
But if you are, this might just be your lucky day
Remember to do a nandroid backup always before flashing system files! And maybe to revert if you don't like it.

This bass is not probably for the weak hearted.
I am glad it worked fine on your config.
To clear up any confusion -- THIS MOD IS BEATS AUDIO. A quick glance at the file names in the zip will clue you in.... This just happens to be the only one I've found to work on our common plaform (Defy, Bravo, MS2); been using it since March now. I've seen about 7 different Beats mods, and most have the .bin files installed to /system/bin when they should be in /system/etc. This is one of the 2 or 3 correct Beats mods I've found.
I'm not sure if the b1.jar is needed, but it came with the mod I use and never caused any problems. All the files between my Beats and yours are identical except for the missing framework b1.jar.
This should work with CM7, MIUI, Stock\based on GB roms. ICS needs /system/lib/hw/ files and different libs. Still haven't found a good ICS Beats mod yet. I don't think Froyo even has a Beats mod (Different audio framework, I think).
Don't bother using this with ICS. The only thing that will happen is it will break the Dsp Manager. ICS and GB use libs with same name but different contents for this mod.
FOR BRAVIA MOD
You will need to add in the first 2 files on my earlier post to fully enable and use the Bravia Mod. I did a check of the script and Bravia Mod is fully installed except for the 2 framework files I uploaded earlier. You can see that they are needed by watching the logcat on boot and seeing where Bravia fails to initialize because the framework files are missing.
I've seen may roms and mods where users complain it doesn't work, but they're missing the framworks, and usually the libs as well. Most only contain files for /etc and /etc/permissions
Oh, and this Bravia mod DOES work. I did a few before and after tests and my Phone's camera pictures look much better with Bravia enabled. I've only tested with GB MIUI and CM7.
@adityabhagat95 -- Where did you find this mod at? I completely forgot and lost the thread where I found my Beats mod. Somewhere here at XDA, just not sure where
I can make a CWM zip with the missing framworks if needed.

That's because this is for Gingerbread Based roms only -- Miui, CM7, etc.... ICS roms need a different Beats mod. If I found one that worked, I'd post it here.
Beats Audio Thread -- The 5.1 is supposed to be for ICS roms, but I've only tested once and was in a hurry, crashed the system with a diff mod, and reinstalled GB MIUI afterwords. The 03\17 Test is real similar to this mod. A bit of advice -- Make damn sure overclock.sh is formatted properly if you edit it...an sbf flash is the only fix if you screw up....my crashed system...
I am surprised that DSP Manager still works since this broke it on the last CM9 I used. ICS has a slightly different DSP framework.
Give me an hour and I should have a repacked zip with the framework jars.
EDIT: Zip with framweworks in attachment.

Hi !
Did you test it on CM9 ?
Right now my DSP manager works only with the stock player ( Apollo ) and I can not get it work with other players such as mixzing and cube player: it seems that I am not the only user affected by this problem so I would gently ask you if this is a modified *.apk working with all players whitch support this feature
Thanks in advance.

I want to know the same thing.
Will the previous APK will make DSPManager work with any player (like Poweramp)?
How To Check ?
Hi,
I flashed DSP Manager. But, frankly speaking when changing the settings viz. Bass Boost, Dynamic Comp etc. I cannot hear any difference when compared to stock. :S
P.S. Running it on Stock SGS3 LTE Music Player (JB 4.1.2)
For a Dev, this would propably the easiest thing ever, but I'm not a Dev...
So how can I take the audio libs (and everything else needed) from one ROM to another? Which files do I need to copy?
Both roms are somewhat MIUI and 2.3.x based. The one I'm trying to port the audio to, has DSP manager, though.
Why? Well, I like this ROM better, but the audio sucks compared to the other one
Thanks!
Copy all the libs with "audio" in "libs" and "libs/hw" folders like libaudioalsa.so or audio_policy.default.so .
Already got it working by copying ALL libs... I'm aware that I have all camera, audio, gpu, ... libs from the other rom now and I'll do it again only copying all libs with "audio" in them. Thanks!

I say that you dont need to be a DEV for doing theese kind of things...its easy and logic operations...sometimes search on google may be good :good:
I've noticed that quite a few times now. It's acctually quite interesting to combine/mod ROM's and make the "ultimate" ROM for yourself.

Hey guys! I'm running the 4.2 beta official PA as well as Franco's r34 kernel. For some reason I can't get any equalizer to work. I've flashed Awesome beats, Infinity sounds, and viper. None of them work. Awesome beats crashes as soon as I hit play in Google play music, Infinity sounds won't let any audio play, and viper world's for awhile then stops. Any suggestions on want to do or a equalizer to try?
Anybody?
Best to ask in the PA thread. This is pretty general q and a
Most likely an issue with the ROM

As far as Viper, did you install the driver after the app?
I have also had to set it to compatibility mode and restart to get it to work with Google Music.
Honestly, it does sound great, but it's a PITA to use, and won't be reinstalling with the next ROM. Still won't work with Slacker, either.

Although I'm not using PA I'm using Franco and Viper4Android. Your comment that V4A stops suggests you did not install it properly. The apk must be installed in "/system/priv-apps". In the themes and apps section you can even find a flash file that will install it properly plus there is quality advise on resolving issues.

What he means by "correctly" is that in kit kat, we've found viper needs to be a priv-app so a normal install isn't sufficient. He didn't mean any disrespect. Unless you've read the viper thread in themes and apps, you probably wouldn't know about this.
