Hey guys! I'm running the 4.2 beta official PA as well as Franco's r34 kernel. For some reason I can't get any equalizer to work. I've flashed Awesome beats, Infinity sounds, and viper. None of them work. Awesome beats crashes as soon as I hit play in Google play music, Infinity sounds won't let any audio play, and viper world's for awhile then stops. Any suggestions on want to do or a equalizer to try?
Anybody?
Best to ask in the PA thread. This is pretty general q and a
Most likely an issue with the ROM

As far as Viper, did you install the driver after the app?
I have also had to set it to compatibility mode and restart to get it to work with Google Music.
Honestly, it does sound great, but it's a PITA to use, and won't be reinstalling with the next ROM. Still won't work with Slacker, either.

Although I'm not using PA I'm using Franco and Viper4Android. Your comment that V4A stops suggests you did not install it properly. The apk must be installed in "/system/priv-apps". In the themes and apps section you can even find a flash file that will install it properly plus there is quality advise on resolving issues.

What he means by "correctly" is that in kit kat, we've found viper needs to be a priv-app so a normal install isn't sufficient. He didn't mean any disrespect. Unless you've read the viper thread in themes and apps, you probably wouldn't know about this.

If you are referring to making it a "system app" yes that is how I installed it. I just used the flashable zip hopefully that fixed it.

A stand alone equalizer. It works by default for all sound and can be disabled, if desired. This version allows independent equalizer for the headphone, speaker, and bluetooth. (New GB apk version contains additional settings.) I am not the DSP Manager dev…just making it available for those whose ROM doesn't include and would like to try and see if it works for them.
Should work on many ROMs and newer phones. You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup…I’m not responsible for problems...YMMV
For Froyo: Flash zip file like ROM, kernel, theme, etc. The proper Froyo library files will be added along with the app. Suggest you wipe cache and dalvik cache. If you have an older version in my test it appears you can flash over it and it will overwrite older files and update it. As always recommend NAND backup first.
For Gingerbread: Install apk file. Newer Android GB ROMs (appears to work up through GB 2.3.5) are no longer dependent on audio library files to be added to get DSP working. You should be able to just install a DSP apk to get it working. I've attached an apk. Do Not Use the Zip...that's for Froyo ONLY. As always recommend NAND backup first.

i dont think for my kind of usage an equalizer will make much difference...BUT, i'm interested in being able to raise the volume of the speaker...is that something I can get done with this app? and if so, can the volume really be increased any noticeable amount without risking damaging the speaker?
thanks in advance!
gonna give it a whirl on a few different sound systems, never use headphones though so don't know how helpful this will be.

Yes, but without the library file included it does absolutely nothing.
crap....submitted twice..sry
Is there a newer version that works over Bluetooth?
yes actually if you check out Vaelpak it has been using this in the last few updates before it showed up in EVIO 1.3. so if you are looking for it w/bluetooth its in that rom. try it out or at least thats were a newer version is available

You could raise the gain to increase "apparent" volume but with these tiny speakers probably shouldn't do too much.

Several ROMs are including it...I just wanted to make available as a stand alone for those not wanting to flash a whole new ROM just to get DSP.

Thanks for posting this trying on Burnt Droid 1.2..

I think this will make it's way into Warm TwoPointTwo RLS2.

Since you know how to do this stuff with ROM building you may want to go to devs site http://bel.fi/~alankila/android-dsp/ and get newest source http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_DSPManager. That even includes equalizer for bluetooth devices. If you do and could create a flashable zip with the newest version sure would like to have to post here for others to use as a stand alone.
Jim
Thanks for submitting.
Installed and working fine on headset...will try out speaker when I get out of the library.
In the meantime...how can I uninstall this? After flashing it pandora force closes and won't open at all. Need to uninstall to diagnose what is causing the problem...
If I have to pick dsp or pandora I pick pandora!

Look in first post...depends on whether you relied on nand backup or did manual backup of appropriate file.
Jim
Ha I did neither....but I had just backed up my whole rom yesterday so I'll put back the file when I get home and see if that fixes pandora

Did you by chance try unchecking compression and equalizer and try Pandora...that should be no effect-stock.

I can't get dsp manager to work with rascream.. I know it worked before with a rom that came with it preinstalled.. But I installed it from titanium backup on rascream and I can't get the sound effects to work. I can set settings but they just don't work..

Hi !
Did you test it on CM9 ?
Right now my DSP manager works only with the stock player ( Apollo ) and I can not get it work with other players such as mixzing and cube player: it seems that I am not the only user affected by this problem so I would gently ask you if this is a modified *.apk working with all players whitch support this feature
Thanks in advance.

I want to know the same thing.
Will the previous APK will make DSPManager work with any player (like Poweramp)?
How To Check ?
Hi,
I flashed DSP Manager. But, frankly speaking when changing the settings viz. Bass Boost, Dynamic Comp etc. I cannot hear any difference when compared to stock. :S
P.S. Running it on Stock SGS3 LTE Music Player (JB 4.1.2)
Beats audio from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226 is working beautifully on Note able to feel a huge difference in sound quality than before just try it i have installed it on MIUI 4 based on stock ICS:good:

No Settings. Just change from the default Equalizer.
+1 use players default equilizer or u can use Equlizer app from play store for changing universal audio it works just fine and nice too
You flashed which one? The BeatsAudio6.27 or BeatsAudio5.1(SGS2)? I confused which one to be used.
Latest one 6.27 just try you wont be dissappointed awesome. I have tried many Beat mods but not felt that much difference, but this mod surely makes the music rich you will immediately find the difference.
clear cache and dalvik cache only before flashing and flash it and reboot will take some time may be around 4-5 minutes just wait dont think the phone is bootloopin as i have tried this mod on my Blue Note and my friends White Note.

I'm having a pretty strange problem. Whenever I go to add a new station in the Pandora radio app, the keyboard will appear for a split second and then disappear. This makes it impossible to add a new station this way. I've tried clearing data for the app, reinstalling the app, getting a new keyboard, and various ROMs (AOKP, CM10, and Embryo 6.2). None of these have helped the problem. I appreciate any input you can give me.

embryo 6.2 works i know when running previous build of Dirty Unicorns and jelly bam i had that issue but he added a special pandora and havent seen any issues on it
Hmm that's weird I just installed Dirty Unicorns not ten minutes ago because I saw that special Pandora app in the change log. I had the issue still with it. I am currently running the Nov. 16 build of AOKP by R4INS because it works best with an old version of the Beats Audio mod that I like to use. The only reason I'm not using Dirty Unicorns is because it has the new version of King BeatZ installed by default and even after uninstalling it the old version that I prefer doesn't work correctly. I tried Embryo 6.2 right after it was released and still couldn't add a station on it either. Weird.

im actually running Deliberate special pandora on embryo with no issues i would say make sure your doing a full wipe
and for Kingbeatz if the pre existing ROM has DSP built in you have unistall then flash king beatz
I always wipe /data /system and /cache before flashing any ROM. What I mean with King BeatZ is I use a very old version of the mod that doesn't quite work right if DSP manager was ever installed regardless of whether you uninstall it or not. The new versions of the mod only work with music players like Apollo etc. and I use MOG to play all of my music (aside from Pandora) and the new versions of King BeatZ don't work with MOG or Pandora.
Did you just extract the modded Pandora apk from the Dirty Unicorns zip file and then install it on Embryo 6.2?

A workaround is, instead of using the button in the app, just push the search key button on your phone and it will allow you to type in a new artist.
Today I flashed Vomers almost stock version N5_LRX22C.zip. Also flashed ElementalX 2.11 and Xposed latest version. So far so good.
But, some apps do not give sound, neither on headset nor on speaker:
Shuttle player, Google music and many other players just do not give any sound. Neither does ES file managers built in player.
However, VLC and YouTube do.
I tried installing AudioFX and removing it, no luck.
Anybody familiar with this?

Why LRX22C? Why not LMY47D?
Reflash your ROM, don't flash elementalx and xposed. Does sound still not work as intended?
Also, use search/check http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/sound-speaker-updating-to-lollipop-t2945842

Since I am quite fond of Xposed and that doesn't work very well yet on 5.1, I stay on 5.0.1. I also did my searches on this matter, couldn't find similar problems, others had hardware problems, mine is not.
Reflashed ROM and all is fine. Reflashed Xposed, still fine. I'll stay on stock kernel for a while.
Thanks for the suggestion.
