My friend have a HTC SENSATION ICS, S-ON, UNROOTED.
He installed custom work mod recovery and then root via CWM with S-ON (if you can believe that)
Now, when i`m trying to use juoponut bear S-OFF , controlbear.exe tell me that Second Backup failed ...... press any key to exit.
What i have to do?
You friend used HTCDev.com to unlock his bootloader and this is how he was able to install Clockwork Mod Recovery. But when you use HTC Dev it only unlocks the bootloader and gives you write permissions to the system partition, recovery partition, and the boot partition. It does not give you full S-OFF. Now if you want to S-OFF his device you will first have to undo the HTC Dev unlock. Now you can find instructions on how to do this at HTCDev.com. Once you have done this you can then use JuopunutBear to S-OFF hiIs device.

You are very correct, the first version of JuopunutBear required you to be HTC Dev unlocked. But the currentveraion does not require it. Now to the best of my knowledge you have to have a locked bootloader to use Juopunutbear to S-OFF.
At the OP, yes you can flash ROMs while still S-ON, but you can not flash radios, rule, splash screens, orfirmwares while you are only HTC Dev unlocked. The guide that was linked will walk you through how to flash while S-ON but just remember to use fasboot to flash theboot.img or use 4EXT Recovery and enable Smart Flash.

If you look at the threads in the HTC Sensation and EVO 3D forums, when you use the HTC procedure to Unlock the bootloader at the HTCDEV.com site, it does not change the security status to S-OFF, but you are able to flash a custom recovery and ROMs, but you need to do this using FASTBOOT commands.

Nice but useless Maybe best for newbies. These days our forum is flooded with questions about errors, bricks, hboot replacement, etc. including one from myself...
revolutionary doesn't state that it supports this hboot on their site??
I just wanted to know because if i install the legit ota for sense 3 it will reflash my bootloader to the locked new 1. and ofc i would want to S-OFF in again!

i just like the idea of stock sense 3! but ofc i still use titanium to remove all the bloatware that i don't use or need. then i make a nand backup
thats the way i do it with all the roms i use. Ive got quite a few nands to switch between depending on my mood
I doubt revolutionary would work. You could go into the IRC and ask, I read someone unlocked the boot loader by going on htcdev.com

really? after the unlock ist your phone *unlocked* but security is still on and you can't change radio or simlock, right? does it works with the new hboot from the ota update with sense 3.0?

How you install PreRooted_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.4_deodexed-signed
and 4EXT Recovery with HBOOT 2.00.0002 and without root S-OFF ?
@kamil
he can install it after he unlocked his phone with the tool from htcdev
your phone is unlocked and security s-on, but he has gut lifted restirctions on boot, recovery and system. so he can flash an new rom, but not a new radio because the radio ist still lock

I never changed my radio and simlock Unlock working on 2.00.0002 HBOOT. How I do install a new ROM ?
Patrick is right. HTCdev site doesen't s-off your phone, but it removes the lock so you can flash recovery and roms, but not radios ans sim unlock. Find the clockworkmod image file for desire s, and flash using PG88IMG method in bootloader. I'm not 100% sure, but seems like the only method.
@kamil:
you have to flash a new rom with recovery, like the clockworkmod.
how do you get the clockworkmod?
you need root (for example gingerbreak)
then you have to install the rom manager from the market
and then you have to install clockworkmod with the rom manager
Follow my instructions here:

I cannot s-off my Sensation XE with revolutionary tool.
It says to fill in a form at their site with device type , hboot version and serial number.
I have hboot version 1.27.0000 and the available versions on the form are only 1.17 and 1.18.
Except this when i run the tool it says that "your device , pyramid with hboot 1.27.0000 is not supported at this time".
i have installed the htc driver.
i powered on my phone without hboot (i removed the battery and then turned on).
i have ICS 4.03 version 3.32.468.112 (i got it OTA two days ago).
How can i s-off and then root my phone?
Please help me because i have not done anything like that before.
You have the wrong hboot version. Using revolutionary won't wont work for a phone with the ICS OTS use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611981
That.
you say that i must change my hboot version for it to work?
how is it wrong?
it is the one that my phone had stock.

will be all ok then or my phone will become unstabel or lose something?

If you want S-off you will have to use the Juopunutbear S-off method linked above. Her is z link to the only detailed guide for the Sensation there is now.
Now by all means please understand you will have to use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader before you can use this S-off method. When you use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader it can cause you to void your warranty.

Sorry about that, don't know why it did that. I fixed the link in that post now.
does anyone know if there will be a new tool that supports the latest hboot versions?
if there will be i can wait to do it that way because the others seem a little risky to me.
It's Juopauntbear or nothing at the moment, and it works fine.
You can always just use HTCDev unlock for the time being, that let's you flash recovery to swap ROMs & gain root.

i read at their site but i didnt understand much.
what is the juopauntbear method and what is the HTCDev?
the only thing i saw is that you do something with a wire at the phone and i am confused.
is it the same thing or i must do both to s-off?
i entered rhe HTCDev unlock page and it has some instructions.
if i do this will i be able to s-off or i must then do the juopauntbear tricks?
You must do the juopunutbear method if you want to s-off
But befor that you must use the HTCDev and root
You must understand that yll lose your warranty if you use the HTCDev method.
so the only way now to s-off with hboot 1.27 is juopunutbear right?
What exactly do the HTCDev then? I see that unlocks the bootloader.
I think is in different order than with revolutionary tool (first s-off then root then anything else but with this method you need first Htcdev then root then s-off) or am i wrong?
HTCDev does not unlock the bootloader only parts of it, so thats why you have to first unlock via HTCDev and then root and finaly s-off with Juopunutbear...Thats the only way to fully unlock your bootloader

After jb method.. You will either have LOCKED (not RELOCKED) bootloader or juopunutbear bootloader..
If the case is latter.. I.e juopunutbear bootloader.. A simple flash of ruu.. Would take it to complete stock...
To simply put.. You should not I mean you SHOULD not.. Touch the unlock of bootloader and re-lock of bootloader after SOFF

Depends which Juopunutbear method you used. If you never used htcdev to unlock your bootloader, you are fine. Just flash the appropriate RUU and S-ON to go back to stock (YOU MUST GO BACK TO STOCK HBOOT OR YOU WILL BRICK).
The original Juopunutbear method required unlocking the bootloader with htcdev. If you are looking to lock your bootloader, again flash the appropriate RUU so that you can S-ON. Then use the new method that doesn't require using htcdev to unlock your bootloader. The result will be S-OFF and LOCKED bootloader.
This is the only way to return to locked state and not relocked.
Most vital for S-ON is a signed, proper hboot. Otherwise, you will brick and will need to find that thread on how to unbrick.
The new method is the jb one without HTC dev unlock is that right

im getting confused on what you are saying
YES ...the original juopunutbear method requires ..htc-dev unlock ..but after the SOFF process ..you neither have that *UNLOCKED* status nor *RELOCKED* ...
you will have *LOCKED* (which is stock ) or *juopunutbear*
and
even if he did SOFF using the NON HTC-DEV method (guide in my link to do this )..he will have the same ..*LOCKED* or *Juopunutbear*
and as i explained earlier ...if the case is later ..i.e. Juopunutbear ..then he(OP) needs to flash a simple RUU ..that will take his bootloader to *LOCKED* which is stock
thats all to explain ..nothing more to resolve here
to the OP

without soff ..no not possible
first of all if anyone did a unlocked bootloader again ..after SOFF ..then that means ..the person didn't understand the SOFF process completely and he is stupid to do that (you have a privilege to flash eng-hboots (juopunutbear/revolutionary) which are much much better than the unlocked hboot)
now assuming he did unlock of bootloader after SOFF
then
there are two ways (just now a new way released ..its cosmetic ..but might work)
1.cosemetic way ....look here)
2.hard way ..flash RUU ..do S-ON(careful here ..brick risk) ...and again SOFF (use htc-dev unlocked JB SOFF)

you have 2 options:
1)using htcdev method to unlock the bootloader and root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
after unlocking the bootloader flash this zip from recovery to root
http://download.chainfire.eu/333/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.34.zip
2)use juopunutbear method to S-OFF and root the device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
the difference between S-ON and S-OFF
with S-OFF you are fully unlocked(means that you can flash also firmwares, radios, rils which on S-ON you can't)
with S-ON you are limited only for flashing custom roms anf kernels

Follow this till you have a custom recovery with smartflash on.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
Then copy any zip to sdcard, boot into recovery, flash.
If you get stuck in a boot loop, extract boot.img from your custom rom and use fastboot flash boot boot.img
I recommend that you do not soff or flash radios till you feel comfortable.
Happy to help.
