unable to play music in PA JB - Samsung Infuse 4G

since upgrading to paranoidandroid V2.12 I am unable to play music files.... have tried adding music players from the market and still nothing
.. any suggestions

A full wipe and re-flashing the ROM would probably be a good start.

have been strongly considering that.... was hoping to find an alternative... but looks like a wipe reinstall is in order.. and to answer the question up front.. yes I always do a full wipe when installing a ROM

I always keep Qkster's wipe .zip handy and run it a couple of times before flashing. I like to eliminate the possible variable of a half-assed wipe by CWM. If the re-flash doesn't work, might want to compare the MD5 checksum and make sure the ROM .zip download didn't get corrupted.

Thanks Apex... that's exactly the script I use..
And did verify the check sum.. reflashed and can now play music from internal SD, but music players do not recognize the external card. I can see the music using a file program and can play them from the file program using Vlplayer but not the music players.... gotta figure out where the switch is get the apps to see the external SD... any suggestions?

[Q] Restoring user settings after installing a new ROM

Hey guys,
I just installed CM7, which is awesome, but I'm wondering how everyone keeps up with the new nightly builds without spending an hour restoring their phone every day. Is there a way to backup everything about your phone - even your settings, shortcuts, widgets, etc. - and then restore those settings after you install a new ROM?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
U don't need to wipe data between every nightlie, I only do that when going from cm7 to faux Rom or vice versa. Just wipe cache, dalvik cache, install zip, fix permissions , reboot.

You probably wanna flash gapps after the nightly, as well...or you won't have much fun.

+1 to this. You wont lose any of your installed apps or settings this way. If you've edited your build.prop file for Netflix then you'll have to do that after flashing a new nightly. And if you are using a custom kernel then you'll have to re-flash that after each new nightly.
between google backup and titanium i have pretty much everything restored in 10 minutes
what about using ROM manager?
All good ways, but I agree with the not doing a full wipe. But if you want to full wipe before each nightly another quick way to restore your apps is Android Commander, a pc program. Also, you do not have to do this:

after every nightly, you never have.
Nice
Worked perfectly! Thanks to all of you for the tips.

How?
I have to wait for market to download every app (including titanium). I can't figure out how to get titanium running without waiting for it to get downloaded from market in some random order.
Thanks.

Restoring apps failing ERROR!!

Hi all,
When i reflash a new rom, all my apps which are supposed to just re download on their own get to a point and then about 30 + of them just fail.
Sometimes it says that there isn't enough space on the SD card, even though i've got plenty (16GB)
It's a real ballache to have to re download them one at a time and if i have to reboot then i lose the collection and that means i have to remember them and i always seem to forget some.
I only use titanium for a couple of apps because i don't see the point seeing as the android market usually does a good enough job of restoring my apps on it's own.
Rom's which this has happened with:
Coredroid
Insertcoin
P3D Sense
Android Revolution.
I always do a full wipe regardless of whether i'm instructed to or not, i format my card after every other flash of a rom and everything is usually tip top.
I'm about to re install a rom now and i'm betting that the same thing happens again.
Any help with this would be a great help.
Many thanks.

Your /cache partition is filling up while performing all the simultaneous downloads during the restore process. Android then aborts the download. You need to delete the orphaned apk files in that folder to clear the cache.
I think Google needs to improve the smarts in the restore process to prevent the cache from filling up
nvm Rumball beat me.

Nice one for that, but wouldn't i be clearing it by wiping the cache just before i flash the rom?
Would a second wipe help?
EDIT: Sonofabiiiatch it happened again, this is a pain in the ass man.
No, because its filling up because of your downloads, all the downloads at once have to store the files in the cache before installing it and with 30+ downloads it fills up quick, because of this i only ever use titanium to restore app.

Ah i see, but what if titanium restores apps which the market is already restoring? Won't you end up with two sets of everything?
Sounds silly but it's partly the reason why i don't use titanium so much.
EDIT: Shame on google for having such a **** part to their system.
just after you wipe , go to the market app and cancel all the downloads then dl titanium and restore, problem solved, and if your using the newer market, then it should just be a simple cancel all button on the top. Titanium also has the option of only restoring the apps you are missing.

Ahh i've not seen that option, i'll look into it next time i'm going to flash a new rom which won't be long Thanks for all your help m8. I appreciate it.
Just an FYI , the option is found by opening the menu and then selecting batch, it will bring up a bunch of option for restoring, wiping and backing up.

Go to menu, settings, applications, manage applications and erase all data. Then try again. If that does not work uninstall the apk file you downloaded and try installing a new one from www.RCmix3D.blogspot.com

Here ya go ....
Download and flash the universal gapps package ...(for CM7)(top of page in the center )
just click the link ,and the file will download right to your device .
then boot to recovery and flash it just like the rom ....dun
Happy flashing ....g
ok i downloaded the link to my device, now once im in recovery mode, what do i select? do i install zip from sd card? or wipe data/factory reset or what. i just dont wanna **** anything up lol. sorry im a total noob to this.
and when i bring the gapps up in ROM manager, a window thats says " rom pre-installation comes up. and has 1. backup existing rom, 2.wipe data and cache, and 3. wipe dalvik cache. the third is the only one selected. do i need to change any of this?
Install zip from SD card, it could be in the download section of your SD card. That's where mine was.
I.didn't wipe anything when I did it and I turned out OK. But if you get bootloops, pull the battery, boot back into recovery and wipe everything then install.
Btw I'm still learning but its a fun learning experience.

Well it seems like my last post wasnt learned from so now I have to repost it again.
This is the second thread you have opened without searching even after I advised you to do so. a search for "google apps on cyanogen" took me to this
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps
As per your posts your new so please spend a few hours reading up before doing anything like running a CM based rom as there are things that only effect CM based roms.
Use recovery to flash things not rom manager (didnt know that was even still used lol)
hell, you didnt even have to leave XDA to find the information....ya know, since its in the FIRST EFFING POST on the CM thread.....

Weird - I don't have any of the lag issues that other report, but I'll try this.
Does this also have the autocorrect fix?
Of course...the second I go back to GB this gets released.

ON AT&T 100% works if you already used the ICS ODIN Leak.exe or some other variation of the leak. I am using it now. Its pretty zippy and fast
Untested from Gingerbread, prob wont work from GB. But it MIGHT, need some1 to test it
i just cant flash back to GB to test it.. need my phone for work since im ONCALL!
I tried the other CWR backup that was released but i kept getting MD5 sum errors. Im on CM7 right now, will test flash with your CWR backup

ATT Only srrry
@MHX - No MD5 Sum errors with your backup, restored fine. Booted normally (and fairly quickly i might add)
I went Cyanowiz CM7 with UCLA3 Modem -> Your CWR backup using your instructions no special steps.
Confirmed Working: Data & Service, Audio, Calls, Wifi, well... Everything
So we don't flash this correct? We just put it in the root and go to restore backup? Thanks in advance.

Download to your computer. Unzip using computer. Plug phone in in USB mode, place the unzipped file into the /mnt/sd/clockwork/backup file on your mounted sd card, wipe data, cache, format system, wipe dalvik, restore backup from sd card

NO do not flash this. Goto backup menu in clockwork and restore.
unzip the file and put the folder on your sdcard or internal emmc then restore the backup

Is this the right procedure to flash/update a ROM?

Hi guys,
I've got a Nexus 4 running PA 3.50 and I would like to update this ROM.
I've downloaded the latest PA mako 3.65 and GApps from Goo.Manager
I've done a "update.zip" (apps and data) backup with Titanium BackUp PRO and now I am going to flash the new update of the rom.
Is that right to:
- go to recovery
- wipe cache and dalvik cache
- install PA 3.65 and GApps
- flash update.zip
- wipe cache and dalvik cache
- reboot
Am I loosing anything? I mean, ROM settings, sms, whatsapp conversations and stuff like those?
Thanks in advance

Thanx for the tip dude, I've watched the video and looked for guide on XDA and Google about updating a rom flashing the backups but I didn't find any...
Well...actually I've found tons of them and I'm pretty confused. That's why I decided to post here.
In the video you posted it says to do a Full Wipe, but maybe it's because he's flashing a different om, right?
Maybe I can skip the process and wiping cache instead, 'cause I'm just uploading it.
Cheers
If its just a small update, yes you can just wipe cache and dalvik, but if its a full update/rom,then you need to do a full wipe, also to make sure and check the developers notes to see what he/she suggests.

May I ask another question?
What about restoring data? I mean, if I backup with Titanium PRO, creating the update.zip file (containing both apps and data files) are there possibilities to get problems on system datas?
'cause I read that system app backups can create conflicts. Is that right?

It's possible but unlikely when flashing only a small update.
Backup and only the app data and download the apps again to be safe.

Oks, so...I am downloading the latest GApps and then do the procedure.
- Wiping cache and dalvik cache
- Wiping factory reset
- Flashing the update of the PA 3+ ROM
- Flashing the GApps
- Rebooting
- Setting up the phone as I did the first time I've booted it
- Installing Titanium BackUp PRO from the Market
- Restoring App+Data ONLY for the green and white colored ones
- Having fun with the updated ROM
So, this is the shortest/best process to flash an update of an existing rom...:good:
I let you know guys.
How did you make out. I use team win it makes it so simple also usually on fire page is where the developer of the rom shows you what to do.

Everything went great!
Well actually at the first flashing of some GApps GooManager downloaded me I got errors just after the boot, but I went to recovery and flashed another GApps I'd downloaded using PA Updater.
So, with Titanium BackUp I simply restored everything...and now my phone has the brand new ROM, but everything with every setting as it was before! :good:
Cheers!
