Tablet isn't waking up from a sleep - Asus Transformer TF700

After a short period of time when the tablet sleeps it hardly ever wakes when I tap the power button. This issue only started a couple of days ago and seems to have gotten worse after today's update and I have owned the tablet since launch. Sometimes it will wake up right away, sometimes it takes a few clicks and other times it won't wake up until I reboot. The camera's firmware wouldn't update today either it kept staying that there was an error during install, but it did so after I shutdown the tablet and kept it off for several hours. I have tried several cold boots and cache wipes and even did a factory reset. Yet the problem persists.
Anyone have any ideas?

I've had this problem too, but I haven't been able to pinpoint the issue yet. I'm working on isolating the issue by disabling apps that are running in the background one by one until I see the problem go away.

Yea, the thing is, it did it for me after a factory reset.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's one of the first things I tried. It did seem to work in the beginning but doesn't now. And I usually keep my battery above 40% and brightness just below 50%.

I had these problems as well when playing spotify and screen went in sleep mode.
Then after a couple of days it started doing it with or without spotify playing in the background...

Have you tried disabling WiFi sleep?

Hey,
I had this problem for over a month. Tried factory reset, tried cold boot. Wifi settings didn't help, build.prop tweaks didn't help.
I pretty much lost any hope and just waited for a Jelly'oh'Bean.
Well, in the meantime, there was a .30 update.
I wanted to prepare my tab for it and restored an original build.prop, did a temporary unroot.
What I did wrong, was to restore a wrong build.prop and i wasn't able to boot anymore.
Only option I had left was to manually update the tab with .26 update with SD card.
I have also wiped everything.
Of course I didn't have any backup.
So, fresh installation so to speak, without titanium backup restores.
Next day the .30 update came and i applied it, but I installed apps from market, not from backup.
Since than, I didn't had a wake-up problem again!
So, my recommendation is (i know there is some work to be done, but it worked for me), wipe, update, install from market.
I am pretty sure one of the apps is playing a dirty game!
Hope it helps.

[Q] Screen not responding to touch

Hi everyone, just got the tablet today and set it up at work, played with it for bit and everthing was working fine.
Got home about 2 hours ago and now when I wake it from Sleep, the touch screen is not responding at all. Have tried everything, power is 98%, plugged into a PC, did the hard reboot, even wiping the data to start setup again. But all to no avail.
The screen isn't responding at all. Its very frustrating as I want to play with it some more!!!
Hope someone has experienced this and can help.
had the same issue once...i turned it off and left it for about 5min...turned it on and the screen works again...
this hasn't occured since then..probably just a system glitch..
Happened to me once, reset the device and it worked. Now it happened again and its been unusable for a day. If it doesn't work tonight, the $hit is going to hit the fan...
Are you stuck at the lock screen immediately after booting because the unlock function doesn't respond to touch? If so, I'm having the same situation. I really hope that waiting a few minutes does the trick...
Edit: even did a full wipe and the thing is still unresponsive. I assume this is a very bad sign. FML.
Have you guys contacted ASUS support? They will probably have you RMA it. How long did you guys have it before this happened? Now I'm worried that mine will do the same thing.
ASUS support did want to RMA my TF that was having this problem. However, after leaving it off for a couple hours, I went to turn it on to wipe out all my account settings and the touchscreen started working again.
I have no explanation for why it started working though. The last thing I did before it was magically fixed was go through the normal shutdown procedure by answering the 'do you want to shut down' using the dock's mouse instead of just holding down the power button. Maybe that made a difference?

This is what happened to me. Stuck at the lock screen, no touch at all. After 4 days of waiting for Asus to reply to my email and several disconnected phone calls, I have returned it to newegg. Since this item is still out of stock I expect to receive a full refund. Which is fine by me. June 8th, here I come.
Same thing happened to me, just returned it to fry's and was able to avoid the restocking fee. Going to get the galaxy tab come june 8th now instead.

I have weird little quirky things like this happen from time to time with my TF, such as having to hit the power button or lock button twice before it works. I think it might be more of a software issue than anything to be honest. Hoping that future updates will correct all of these issues.
I hope its a software issue....
Found a solution that worked for me. I booted into recovery mode by holding vol down and power. then I selected vol up to enter recovery. Then the exclamation point came up with the android robot. I left it like that for a few minutes then held down the power until it resarted.
It booted up like normal, no data lost. I then restarted for good measure. Came right back up like normal, touch screen and all.
Thanks jdmnash. I followed your instructions and it worked like a breeze. Should make this part of a sticky help thread.
Found a solution
Update: Tried every fix I could identify on the forums as I was also draining the battery as suggested on several forums. After 4 days waiting for the battery to drain, I was able to restart the TF and get active responses to the touchscreen. Unfortunately I had performed a reset and wipe earlier so I am having to reload everything. I am happy to have a functioning TF again, but have serious concerns about this failure and this awkward repair method. Additionally, I have still not had a response from ASUS support from 5 days ago.
Mine is constantly doing this. Randomly.
Its as if the daemon for screen touch detection crashes. The rest of the unit is fine but that stops and the only fix is a power button off, then on.
Something is not right here. Its vanilla out of the box, no extra software just the 13 FW update.
Will 3.1 fix this? Hopefully, as it stands, this will have to be returned. It is not fit for purpose, constantly failing.
same problem
Just picked up mine. Out of the box at a cafe it worked just fine. Brought it home and same problem as everyone else in this thread. Have tried all of the suggestions in this thread (except waiting for the battery to die). Even installed the 3.1 update via SD. Still no joy. Guess I'll try a few more things before returning it. My guess is a problem in the supply chain with the capacitors that detect screen touch. Doubt that it can be solved solely through a software update (or if it can it definitely didn't make it into 3.1)
my touch screen stopped working a week ago while i was at school. and i got really pissed and just kept on rebooting it and after like 5 or 6 reboots it started working. Havent had same problem since.
Hmm... thanks for suggestion. Tried booting it about 5 times but still borked. Draining the battery now as my last attempt before taking it back.
Update: I ran the battery down to zero. Charged it up for 30 mins and now it works again. Hope I don't have to repeat that very often.
BTW, the fastest way I could find to run down the battery was to power on while holding down the volume down button. Then just leave it sitting in that state until it reboots itself and then repeat.

Hi , After the battery is zero and then 30 minutes charging, in order to make it work , did you discharge it right after 30 minutes or still you keep it charging ?
I got same problem with my TF which is really a disappointment.. I tried to factory reset, reboot ... but still can't make it work. I have to try this trick by draining the battery to zero. Hopefully, I get advise from all of you for this problem ?
Thanks a lot
Can you guys try using ADW launcher and see if things improve?
I think it did for me.

[Q] Freezing problem on galaxy r

Hi,
Got my phone a week back..The problem started to occur a few days ago,my phone started to freeze often.Touchscreen stopped responding.I had to remove the battery n boot to get the phone working again.
I look forward to seeing your replies. Please feel free to ask me further details . Happy New Year. Thanks in advance
Have you tried calling the fone when this happens? I'm interested if this is the same problem as with mine....
I've also had the touchscreen freeze out a couple of times but that's usually after an app has crashed or I've stressed the system, I find that locking then unlocking the scren brings it back to life

I don't want to be a negative person here but mine started like that, I though it was just because the system was running too many apps or I haven't freed the ram. It's now shutting off by itself.

take a backup from CWM if you havent already and make a reset from there...

Factory reset didnt help either..It works for a while and the problem repeats all over again
A phone with this much memory and dual core CPU shouldn't behave like this.
sometimes when you move your finger to the screen as close as possible without touching though...it can cause freezings.
I had the same problem. Initially the phone used to freeze and I used to remove and replace the battery again. But then the phone started crashing and it reached a point today where the phone would freeze upon booting at Samsung screen. I held the VolumeUP+Home button while booting and did a "Wipe cache" and its been working fine since.
Cheers!
Yep, it seems a common issue. Mine does the same. I haven't flashed any custom ROMs or kernel after I got it from service just to see if it was the problem. But it started shutting down by itself a couple of days ago with increasing frequency. I removed all recently added apps + juice defender and others that may be messing with the hardware with no change.
P.S. I have to take out and replace the battery to restart it, and there is always a battery drain afterwards.
Hi,
After I did a 'wipe cache' in recovery, my phone didnt crash for one full day. Now again it has started crashing at random.
Kindly note that its been 2 months since i bought the phone and there were no problems with it.. But few days back there was not power and hence my mobile got switched off due to battery drain.. And from the next day onwards this problem has started.
Any of you guys think its a battery issue? - battery calibration issue perhaps? Should i perform a 'wipe battery stats' in recovery?
Kindly advice.
Thanks.
Didn't work for me, I wiped dalvik cache and battery stats and it worked fine for a couple of days, but then i shut down again. I'm going for factory reset next.
BTW mine shuts down only when the screen is off, never while I'm using it.
@reymysterio7 do you get battery drain after?
Yeah mate. There was significant battery drain. Right now I've done a factory reset-flashed 2.3.6 austria-flashed titanium v2.1-wipe cache/dalvik cache-wipe battery stats. Keeping my fingers crossed

UPDATE : My phone started its random shut downs again. But one thing Ive figured for sure is that it happens only when the network signal is low or fluctuating.

It shut down again - When signal became low!! - When i rebooted, again it shutdown while connecting to network. I removed sim and booted it worked fine. Then i went outdoors and booted with sim, it did not shutdown.
It definitely not a software issue coz I had formatted EVERYTHING and the phone was as good as new. Its not battery issue coz phone does not have issues without sim inserted. Its either hardware (motherboard probably) or SIM card problem.. I'm gonna get a new sim on monday and check it.. This sucks!!!
UPDATE : I tried with other sim - it still shutdown after 10 mins I used my present sim on a S2 and it worked fine...
UPDATE - ISSUE RESOLVED : I took it to the service center, the issue was a faulty USB connector. They replaced it and the issue seems to have been resolved. For more have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24263158#post24263158

[Q] Still no solution for Random Reboots?

It's extremely annoying!
Is there any solution?
When is ASUS fixing this?
You can go and downgrade to HC with some custom rom and wait until sombody (probably not Asus) find a solution.. On Honey Comb everything was fine...
Just did a 24 hour cylce without any reboots. Honestly don't what you guys are having problems with.

I'm on 9.2.1.17. I did a factory reset, turned off tegra notifications (read a blurb about this, but I have no idea if this works), wifi on sleep setting to never.
I have uptime of almost 2 days with no strange reboots, boot loops or other crap.
Seems like the wifi setting has the most effect, although not an ideal setting for me. I think that's a better solution than airplane mode (which seemed to work for me too)
edit: I'm rooted with razorclaw (option 1), if that helps
I am now experiencing random shutdowns. Not reboots, but shutdowns. I leave my transformer locked and closed(if docked) and come back to it not on at all. I power up by long pressing the power button, like 10 seconds. It worked great on the old ICS, this new Mercury update is killing me. How can i downgrade back to Neptune?
EDIT: Added Softkey Locker Free and now it has been off the charger for six hours with no random shutdowns. Battery usage is normal, haven't experienced a leaky battery yet. I will keep you posted if I experience another random shutdown.
NOTE: Brought my Transformer to work in a pad case and it did go to sleep, however with Softkey Locker, it did not go to deep sleep.
I don't want to go back to HC!
It's really troublesome to change from ROM to another! more specifically from ICS to HC!
Backup & Restore... worst thing to do!
Reboots happen 10+ times a day!
Sometimes.. the device is stuck and I have to hold down the Power+Volume Down buttons!

Have had multiple times that my transformer didn't reboot for over 24 hours, but then in 3 hours it reboots 4 times...
Can't think of anything strange me (the user) did to make this happen.

Randomly Shuts Off / Won't Reboot

I've had my TF300 for a few months now. It's been unlocked since day one, and is currently running CM10 stable (probably going to try a 10.1 Nightly today). Recently it has been randomly shutting down. No warning or anything, I'll just be watching a video or browsing the web and boom, it's off. Screen is black and everything.
This wouldn't be THAT bad but it doesn't automatically reboot, and it's very difficult to get it to boot back up. I've tried holding the power button for over a full minute, every combination of vol+ and power and vol- and power, and most of the time (not every time), nothing seems to do the trick but sticking it on the charger for a while and leaving it alone. Then I'll just hit the power button like normal and it will fire right up. It's done this 3 times now.
So what do you guys think? Hardware or software issue? And despite being unlocked, do you think ASUS would warranty it if I restored the factory image, if it is a hardware issue?
Have you got it overlocked? If so, try turning the tablet down. Watching videos may be too much for the tablet if it's overclocked. Another way to see if it's software or hardware is to switch ROMs and see if it still does it. If so then it very well may be hardware related.
As for the the warranty, from what I understand, Asus will still cover hardware issues even if it's unlocked. I do not know from personal experience, only from what I've read here from other members.

Not overclocked, it was a thought that occurred to me, too, but it's just running the included CM kernel at the stock speeds. I'll give CM10.1 a try tonight and see if that resolves it. Thanks for the advice.
So I think I figured it out. This thing is straight up not reporting battery stats. I let it fully charge last night, and now after unplugging its been at 100% for about an hour of straight use and two (normal) reboots. Tried deleting batterystats.bin but it made no difference. I'm going to run it down and see what happens...
Still no go. It was totally fine until the battery hit about 45%, then shut off and was unresponsive. When I plugged it back in, the light blinked for a few minutes, then I was able to power it up like normal. Has the battery gone bad?
Try Installing STOCK ROM
I have the similar issues with CM10. But it doesn't happen when I am using it(playing games, surfing internet or watching movies).
It happens only when the tab is not being used for more than 2-3 hours. Pressing Power button doesn't do anything and I have to press the power button for at least 1 minutes to get it rebooted.
I installed Stock 10.4.2.18 rooted(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033205) and I don't see that issue anymore.
Now I am trying CleanROM Inheritance 3.0.4(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049322) to see how it goes as it is based on the Stock ROM.
Same exact happened to me yesterday...i was scared for a min or two...it finally booted back and been fine since...im on cleanrom unlocked and rooted no overclock

I have the same problem, and my non-scientific observation leads me to suspect it was worse on the stock ROM. Also, I have this problem where wifi will not work (upon waking the tablet, it says wifi is off, though I had not turned it off), and I have to reboot it in order to get wifi to connect. I don't know if the issues are related.

OF1 issues

Phone info: Stock verizon S6 w/ OF1
I got the s6 when it first came out and found out that it has quite a few issues (one of my biggest annoyances was that Bluetooth constantly force stopped and had to restart). Anyways, I updated to OF1 today in the hopes that it would potentially solve this, and did everything normally... Had the phone pretty much fully charged, let it run the update, etc. When the phone restarted and was usable again, within 5 minutes, it locked up and the screen turned off like I had hit the lock button. Pressing the lock button when this happens would light up the bottom keys, but the screen stays off. I had to force restart it using the volume down button and the lock button, and when it came back after doing a normal restart, the screen would glitch out like crazy and do the same thing again. After a few times of this happening, I rebooted again but this time went into safe mode. This appears to prevent my phone from glitching out. Prior to this update, this never happened, which leads me to these questions:
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Is this a common issue with this update?
and lastly, Is there a fix for it?
Update: as it turns out, the same glitch happened in safe mode as well
I have never had any issues with Bluetooth and I use it heavily every day in my car. You should not have taken that update because you can't root as of now so I suggest using odin to flash that firmware again and start from scratch. Fully fresh install with all data erased might be your best bet. Just backup everything you need first
