To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your device into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of it.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

I saw that ParanoidAndroid has released their sources, so I decided to port this sucker since I was bored and looking for something a little different
This is 100% compiled from source, as the ParanoidAndroid team has open sourced the ROM (finally!! )
Be sure to install the ParanoidPrefrences APK so that the Paranoid Settings part of Settings doesn't force close for you!

Hmm this looks pretty cool I guess

Rohan32, not to be creepy but Ive followed your development all the way from the hp Touchpad days.
You have truely grown.

Amazing!
rohan32, you rock!!!:good:
just one question, how about the battery life?

Rohan, thanks a lot for being bored and bringing this to our 1X...was hoping for some dev to port it

The more roms the better. IMO just post it!

what about the icons in settings?.will it be ok everytime i change the theme?anyway thanks rohan for a wonderful job

Only been playing for about 20 minutes and already love it. Either battery reporting is broken or I'm in for some phenomenal battery life. It hasn't dropped one % and I'm really hammering away setting everything up. Idk if this is a cm10 bug or not but led only blinks red for me.
Edit: light is fully functional, just took a reboot. Unfortunately battery life is looking to be right about what I was expecting from a jb rom. I slept for about 6 hours and it dropped 6%. I know 1% an hour isn't terrible but I've been spoiled by viper and king cobra, where I'd lose 1 maybe 2 % after 8 hours. Also, my battery held 100% for over 20 minutes of screen time then after began plummeting I love paranoid android so I'm making a nand now and will follow this thread closely. Thanks rohan!

nice.... downloaded and flashing now!

Looking forward to the development of this rom.

Did you build from source or use apktool? If you source built I would be more than happy to work with you
Also, anyone notice any issues so far? I don't use this ROM as my daily driver so I won't have much interaction with it.

In regards to the Themes section under System Settings, is this something that will eventually be filled using Tools or OTA when they are ready, or are we most likely going to find these goodies on the next build?

Ras i was wondering if you plan to have more customization control like with redemption or is it basically wysiwyg? I liked being able to change how my notification toggle were words and i could show or hide them by tapping a button. Just wondering if i should expect something like that or keep an eye out for redemption updates.

I think what we have planned for Melchizedek is going to be leaner than Redemption. I'm sure we will add more features as time goes on. If you want to full boat of features, Redemption will be updated in the next day or two. Nice to have choices, I hope.

this one doesn't require any extra radio flashing does it? Also is it safe to flash after all the steps... as far as the kernel part... It mentions something about flashing someone elses kernel... Thanks and the pics look sick!! Cant wait till my phone gets here....
Shouldn't have to flash a radio, but you can look to see if a different one works better for you. And as to the kernel, only use the one in the rom.
Thanks, Ill see how it goes!
I am using it nouw for a few days, runs very smooth! No big bugs or whatsoever.
Only the videocam doesn't work for me, can't play the recorded video on the phone..
Great job!
someone can post a link to the wallpaper? thx

Dude, please read the OP for the ROM.
"-Custom Camera Launcher that launches Angel Camera for stills and VideoCam Illusion for Videos
(You need a player like Rock Player Lite or MXPlayer to Play the Videos)"
Which means install Rock Player Lite or MXPlayer and your videos work.

I think the toggles in the notificationbar are in Redemption better working.
Cause they are so small i can't touch them properly, and especially WIFI is annoying to enable/disable.
There is a big delay before it reacts on your touch, so many times I don't know if I selected it right, and start to hit it multiple times
The place they are now is good, but in Redemption the toggles are much bigger, and easier to select.

Agreed. I like the On/Off toggles much better, too. Just wish Mel had the same sort of notification bar toggles like Red. Other than that minor difference, Mel sounds like a great ROM!
I have problem with playing games, screen not responded.

Sense Recent Apps work only in Phone Mode. Un-tick your tablet mode under Paranoid setting then reboot. You will see the settings in system. Same thing for status bar transparency if I'm not mistaken.

the only problem is that i can't restore from titanium backup games that have a size hier than approssimatly 30 mb D:

Nope, everyone with a brain, will look at the title, see the "4.0.4" and know that this is based on CM9 (and contains all CM9 bugs)..
People without brains should never look or try anything on this development section.

This ROM has all the bugs andromadus has (latest build ofc lol)
I have to try it! But cannot loose all data on my phone right now...
Ok! I'll do it on my smaller sister phone!
Hmm, it's not easy to try out this rom..
- There's no google play app on the phone
- There's no filebrowser
- Developer settings are greyed out so I can't push google play app to the phone with adb.
Maybe I'm overlooking something? but I can't work with your rom in this way
Apart from these negative points, this rom is very fast and smooth. Also very much settings, OC settings, launcher settings etc. Good job!
Edit: found the switch for development settings. Pushing playstore app to device right now

Hmm I guess that should be the problem Damn i'm making this difficult for myself lol
Downloading GAPPS now
Edit: ok, android 4.1.1 now fully running on my desire S
Things I have found so far:
- Overall smoothness and performance is great! Comparable (maybe even better) to a freshly installed fallout 5.0!
- Tablet mode working!
- App resize working!
- Tablet mode: notification bar is half off the screen! Check screens below
- system settings disk space tab is force closing every time!
For the rest, it's too late too try. I'll post some screenshots here so anyone can look for himself.

The ROM is based on Andromadus (Flinny's latest 105 build) or CM10 (nk111's latest test 17 build)? I'm asking because on Andromadus there is still the "sound blackout" issue present while on CM10 it is not. Paranoid has great features, I love it (tested it before) but if I have sound issues with it, I cannot use it.
Cant wait to try. Downloading now

I'm asking because on Andromadus there is still the "sound blackout" issue present while on CM10 it is not. Paranoid has great features, I love it (tested it before) but if I have sound issues with it, I cannot use it.

Well its on top of andromaus' sources, so i think its still equal to build 105.
Ill try the cm10 kernel later today, that one doesn't suffer from a sound blackout right?

Only for you buddy:
I would remove that screenshot app If I were you...
That contains fishy malware ( I once had it in a rom included so users found it ).
Don't know the exact name anymore but i wouldn't take the risk if I were you.
had the sound blackout after two minutes of the first boot. Restarted the phone and after 5 minutes the same thing. the rom si fast and pretty much OK, but the sound problem is a major one . thank you

Don't know if it's kernel related or not but yes on nk111's build from 17.09 (latest) the sound issue is gone (I use it as daily since then and have no problems)
Sent from nowhere over the air...
At last! I am waiting this for a long time. Thanks djpb
Does everyone that flashed this rom have the sound issue?

[ROM][4.1.2]Paranoid Android - SGS4G v2.99 [UNOFFICIAL][ALPHA]

TFQ is proud to present Paranoid Android for the SGS4G
First thank you goes to CM & ParanoidAndroid
From the Paranoid Android Homepage
"To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks.
This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode.
This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even system components individually.
You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot.
You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode.
Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself.
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone."

2. Wipe data (back it up before hand).
3. Format System.

5. Reboot let it sit for 5 then do the following:
1. Boot up without a sim
2. Once booted up go thru setup wizard.
3. Then put in airplane mode.
4. Reboot with sim in.
5. Quickly go to system settings > more > mobile networks take out of airplane mode, uncheck data (if this takes you a while the phone will lock up and reboot).
6. Then click 2g network.
7. Check data and it should work.

The screenies are from a previous unreleased build. The dpi in this release is more consistent with er1kmm's paaranoidANDROID-1.6a-UNOFFICIAL. To change dpi for individual apps go to settings > Paranoid Settings > apps.

Excellent point. This thread was created less that two hours after the linked build finished so I hadn't taken current screenshots. I'll change them as soon as I can.

Re: [ROM][4.1.2]Paranoid Android - SGS4G [v2.99][ALPHA]
ParanoidAndroid has been jacking with their source which has had me going crazy for weeks. I'll keep y'all up to date as best I can.

I would really hope the better changes PA is making to their code is because of the new features I saw on the Nexus 4 PA! Such as the Pie and PA Colors! Plus hoping eventually for fixes to some of the bugs...especially the 4g and wifi!
Also wondering how hard is it to port ROMs from the SGS Vibrant to the SGS4G? There is already an awesome group of developers working topoetthe new Nexus 4 PA ROM to the Vibrant and SGS2! Would love to see those features!!!

Due to a myriad of issues with PA (changes, server problems which may lead to them changing servers, etc.) I haven't been able to successfully sync the source repository. Without the source I can't make any changes. PIE became open source only yesterday. Please use the Q&A for this project to post questions regarding it. Other questions in their appropriate place. Thank you.

Update Rumor
I was finally able to get the source to download Monday and eventually got it to build yet it doesn't quite work yet since it's 4.2.1  so this will probably need to be put on hold until the 4.2.1 kernel is closer to stable.
Thread Owner Change
I am turning this thread over to my teammate thomas.raines. He has the 4.1.2 source which is no longer available on GitHub. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in the lack of support I have been able to provide for this ROM. Thomas will do an excellent job.

[Q] root device

I have a galaxy s 4g. And want to know the simplest method to rooting. I have a rooted s2 and all I did was go to odin and flash cwm and su.zip. same method?

I'm full of great idea's, but don't have the time to create them or learn the coding to create them. If you want to make one of my ideas a reality just message me and I will give you my idea as specific as possible.
ideas:
-launcher/lock screen
-line rider type game where you control the character
-2d fighting game like art of fighting for the SNES
-multiplayer fps where you create your own map with a creative mode (minecraft style)
-roller coaster tycoon style game
-many more!
Just message me which idea you want info on and I'll tell you!

Another question, which Rom is the most stable? Preferably a JB 4.1+

Do also note that anything JB for our phone currently doesn't include GPS. Anything released 4.2 for our phone doesn't include wifi or non-speaker audio. The devs have the audio issue fixed, but are waiting until they're happier with its state to post so that we, the teeming hordes/unwashed masses, don't pepper them with frustrating questions and ETA requests badly hidden as bug reports.
That being said, I'm still currently using PACman as my ROM and have since it was released. How can you not love Paranoid Android, AOKP, and CyanogenMod all rolled into one? Even without some of the niftier AOKP toggles or the ability to turn off the CRT-off, it's great.

Off Topic, Theraze what was that thing you posted before about removing GPS components to save battery life? I'd like to try that out to save some juice.
On-Topic, you should follow Lumins guide, they are the easiest and best ways to get from Stock Gingerbread to rooted with custom recovery Gingerbread.

What do you mean by this about GPS? I am running AOKP, used Pimp My Rom to install an updated GPS file and my GPS works better than it ever has. Gets GPS lock near instantly. Are you abbreviating something I am missing here?
AOKP is ICS not JB...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Correct, as Cooptx says... we don't have, in the forum yet, any true JB AOKP. The only partial-JB AOKP is through PACman. The AOKP available is ICS AOKP, which does have working GPS. Unless you screw it up.
I find that the current Proton is less greedy for GPS connections than original was, but I still do eventually end up wiping out the connections because they aren't doing any good yet. Basically, after flashing, letting it soak in and taking care of all of that normal stuff, go to /system/lib/hw and remove the gps entry... think it's gps.goldfish.ro. If you're feeling vigilant, there's also a GPS bit in /system/vendor/lib/hw, but I can't remember the full name off the top of my head without caffeine in the morning. But it's one of only two files and the only one whose name begins with gps, so it shouldn't be hard to get the right one.
But the first one is the more important bit. If you're finding you have major battery usage going to GPS, on a kernel that doesn't support it.
Thanks Guys.......Duh, it was late. Not sure how I read JB to be ICS....I was obviously the one that needed the caffeine.

Yeah... except that most of our current Fah-Q roms don't give us TWRP anymore. But yep, those were the directions.
