To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...

Sense Recent Apps work only in Phone Mode. Un-tick your tablet mode under Paranoid setting then reboot. You will see the settings in system. Same thing for status bar transparency if I'm not mistaken.

the rom it's amazing
the only problem is that i can't restore from titanium backup games that have a size hier than approssimatly 30 mb D:

Anyone with a very kind heart who can upload the ROM to mediafire..? Having serious problem with filesharing sites due to crappy ISP...

Nope, everyone with a brain, will look at the title, see the "4.0.4" and know that this is based on CM9 (and contains all CM9 bugs)..
People without brains should never look or try anything on this development section.

[MOD] TabletUI for SL I9003 (Currently only for AOKP)

Dear friends,
A few days before I came across something amazing (see Title ) and I decided to try it on our phone. It worked but had some major issues with Phone like No SMS, No Data, etc. This thing attracted me so much that I have spent last few days to find that perfect thing for our phone. I tried to edit it myself but just like before I kept failing at decompiling and especially recompiling apks
Anyways today I have found and gathered almost Perfect solution (after numerous failed attempts for our phones) with almost everything working except one.
I will let the pictures do the talking. Its pure awesome

So.....liked it Well I very much did
Whats working :
Data
SMS
Play Store
Dialer (it does not crash)
Full UI
Whats new :
New Gmail
New GTalk
New Email
All apps which have TabletUI will load into that like TweetCaster
Overall its entirely different experience.
What's not working :
This
Now I know that we are very close and it needs just very simple change somewhere in Phone.apk to enable Voice Calling but I am dumb enough not to know that
May be experienced (in xml editing especially) Devs like Frankstein, UT36104, Lolation, Fuss and others could solve it in no time and give us perfectly working Phone.apk
How to install :
1. TAKE A BACKUP
2. Reboot into Recovery
3. Flash the zip
4. Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache (under Advanced)
5. Reboot
6. Change LCD density to 128 (last option in LCD Density screen. Select Custom in the end of the list)
7. Reboot
8. Wait for few minutes after boot
9. Set Font Size to HUGE.
10. Now clear Market data (System Settings>Apps>All>Google Play Store>Clear Data)
11. Smile
Also attached is the Restore (CWM Flashable) zip by our dear Frankstein to restore back to Normal(Phone) Mode. Dont forget to change LCD Density to 240 after flashing Restore zip. Dont forget to say THANKS to Frankstein here
What next :
If people contribute (since I am worse than a kid when coding, etc comes) we can fine tune it a lot and make it look more comfortable and extremely beautiful. Its already usable for me
What we can do
1. Increase the size of Navigation Bar
2. Remove padding in App Drawer (its cut-off from sides)
3. Increase font size slightly
And much more........
Full credit goes to Xylograph and another unknown Dev. Respect and Thank to you !
Hope it is good
nice work sir. i tried this mode on my s2. im happy that you port it on SL I9003. now my SL will have tablet mode also.thanks!
I think its a great idea to adapt everything to the size of our fingers and the screen! Good job dude!!

Tablet Mode will work in both Landscape and Portrait work just like normal phone.
Use it for some time and you will love it especially new apps
@Frankstein
Thank you so much bro !
I forgot to upload Restore zip and you just supported me so quick. Thanks

Hope u will give a try to it if possible
Yesss......
I think I have enabled the Voice Calls too but once again got stuck at same point - Recompiling. Can somebody help me with this ?
I am using latest aapt, apktool 1.4.3 (also tried 1.4.2, 1.4.1), smali 1.3.2 and baksmali 1.3.2
Thanks
@shail
That will be great but not that easy as apps read density from Build.prop (as I know) and we can't have per-app density there. Although it can be achieved by directing apps to read Density from different config file but that's out of my scope
I have ideas but not skills to implement them. Sorry

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, and indeed it's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank.
Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. Team PA is calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.
First I recommend that you use smelkus recovery found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543
- Make a backup of everything you value like music, pictures, etc
- WIPE EVERYTHING! (system, data, boot, sd-ext, cache)
- Partition your sdcard (follow steps below)
I recommend that you partition your sdcard to 1024 (1GB), swap size 0
Then move ext2 to ext3 then ext3 to ext4
- Download the ROM in the same place as the changelog
- Flash it
If you STILL have problems then THANKS to MrTekn010933 on YouTube we NOW have a HOW TO FLASH video!
As always, I want to give credit where is due! I'm not as foolish as some and think that I'm a big shot developer and I can do things by myself. I want to thank the following people!

THE BUSYBOX SOURCE USED FOR THIS ROM : https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_external_busybox
- P.A.L., First time in Android history that Per-App-Layout has been realized. This rom features a setting called Per-App-Density. You can define an apps native DPI
with it, make it look stock, smaller or bigger than that, your decision. All apps are depicted at DPI 240 per standard. No other ROM has that feature right now!!
- Google Play does not allow density changes and will stop working if you mess around with that. This rom fixes that problem for you 100%.
- More stuff: Recents window closer to stock, fixes for overlapping elements, framework fixes, no crashes, working Phone (looks 100% like stock aswell), etc.
- No 4G
- No FFC (front facing camera)
- Netflix and HULU PLUS (just audio, no video)
- Native Camcorder does not record (use Videocam illusion)
Global density: Is the one used by your hardware configuration and all non PAD touched applications. It's the old one that you can change with build.prop,
and this one can get you outside of tablet mode - Phone mode. Don't touch it if you dont know what you're doing. This one has nothing to do with PAD or PAL,
as it's the one designed by google.
Deafult SystemUI DPI: User interface density, can be reflected on statusbar, Recent apps, etc. This one can't get you outside of your current mode.
Deafult User DPI: Is the one used when your app is not on pad.prop list, so when you run a new app that it's installed by you, and not on /system/app, it
will run at this density. This one cant get you outside your current mode neither.
Some QUICK known facts...
- You CAN'T change framework dialogs (like when you hold power button) density on tab mode yet, don't waste your time (it's limited from 120 to 128 global
density so it's not a huge difference)
- Keyboard must be set at 236 in Phone mode to work well with On-Screen Buttons. In tablet mode, it must be set to Tablet mode/density 120
- If you see the dock on launchers in tablet mode, and not the old layout, this is NORMAL, it was ugly before, and now it's preset to phone mode at 240 density. If you want to get the old
ugly tablet mode for launchers, go to settings > paranoid > hybrid settings > list apps, select your launcher, put density to 120-140 and put in on tablet mode
The message that appears every time that you change DPI or layout mode for any app IS NORMAL, Team PA put it in there so changes can be applied, the APP IS NOT FORCE CLOSING
PLEASE REMEMBER that NOT every app works well in tablet mode! There's nothing I or any developer can do except the developer of that APP. If you want to blame someone, blame them!
Please search, read, search again and then read some more BEFORE posting! If you take anything I say personal or want to throw a hissy fit and TEACH ME A LESSON, PM me and we can
hug it out..hahahaha

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. what about the icons in settings?.will it be ok everytime i change the theme?anyway thanks rohan for a wonderful job
Only been playing for about 20 minutes and already love it. Either battery reporting is broken or I'm in for some phenomenal battery life. It hasn't dropped one % and I'm really hammering away setting everything up. Idk if this is a cm10 bug or not but led only blinks red for me.
Edit: light is fully functional, just took a reboot. Unfortunately battery life is looking to be right about what I was expecting from a jb rom. I slept for about 6 hours and it dropped 6%. I know 1% an hour isn't terrible but I've been spoiled by viper and king cobra, where I'd lose 1 maybe 2 % after 8 hours. Also, my battery held 100% for over 20 minutes of screen time then after began plummeting I love paranoid android so I'm making a nand now and will follow this thread closely. Thanks rohan!
nice.... downloaded and flashing now!
Looking forward to the development of this rom.

Did you build from source or use apktool? If you source built I would be more than happy to work with you
Also, anyone notice any issues so far? I don't use this ROM as my daily driver so I won't have much interaction with it.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

This ROM has all the bugs andromadus has (latest build ofc lol)
I have to try it! But cannot loose all data on my phone right now...
Ok! I'll do it on my smaller sister phone!
Hmm, it's not easy to try out this rom..
- There's no google play app on the phone
- There's no filebrowser
- Developer settings are greyed out so I can't push google play app to the phone with adb.
Maybe I'm overlooking something? but I can't work with your rom in this way
Apart from these negative points, this rom is very fast and smooth. Also very much settings, OC settings, launcher settings etc. Good job!
Edit: found the switch for development settings. Pushing playstore app to device right now

Did you flash GAPPS?
Hmm I guess that should be the problem Damn i'm making this difficult for myself lol
Downloading GAPPS now
Edit: ok, android 4.1.1 now fully running on my desire S
Things I have found so far:
- Overall smoothness and performance is great! Comparable (maybe even better) to a freshly installed fallout 5.0!
- Tablet mode working!
- App resize working!
- Tablet mode: notification bar is half off the screen! Check screens below
- system settings disk space tab is force closing every time!
For the rest, it's too late too try. I'll post some screenshots here so anyone can look for himself.

The ROM is based on Andromadus (Flinny's latest 105 build) or CM10 (nk111's latest test 17 build)? I'm asking because on Andromadus there is still the "sound blackout" issue present while on CM10 it is not. Paranoid has great features, I love it (tested it before) but if I have sound issues with it, I cannot use it.

Well its on top of andromaus' sources, so i think its still equal to build 105.
Ill try the cm10 kernel later today, that one doesn't suffer from a sound blackout right?

Only for you buddy:
I would remove that screenshot app If I were you...
That contains fishy malware ( I once had it in a rom included so users found it ).
Don't know the exact name anymore but i wouldn't take the risk if I were you.
had the sound blackout after two minutes of the first boot. Restarted the phone and after 5 minutes the same thing. the rom si fast and pretty much OK, but the sound problem is a major one . thank you

Don't know if it's kernel related or not but yes on nk111's build from 17.09 (latest) the sound issue is gone (I use it as daily since then and have no problems)

I would really hope the better changes PA is making to their code is because of the new features I saw on the Nexus 4 PA! Such as the Pie and PA Colors! Plus hoping eventually for fixes to some of the bugs...especially the 4g and wifi!
Also wondering how hard is it to port ROMs from the SGS Vibrant to the SGS4G? There is already an awesome group of developers working topoetthe new Nexus 4 PA ROM to the Vibrant and SGS2! Would love to see those features!!!

Due to a myriad of issues with PA (changes, server problems which may lead to them changing servers, etc.) I haven't been able to successfully sync the source repository. Without the source I can't make any changes. PIE became open source only yesterday. Please use the Q&A for this project to post questions regarding it. Other questions in their appropriate place. Thank you.

Update Rumor
I was finally able to get the source to download Monday and eventually got it to build yet it doesn't quite work yet since it's 4.2.1  so this will probably need to be put on hold until the 4.2.1 kernel is closer to stable.
Thread Owner Change
I am turning this thread over to my teammate thomas.raines. He has the 4.1.2 source which is no longer available on GitHub. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in the lack of support I have been able to provide for this ROM. Thomas will do an excellent job.
