TFQ is proud to present Paranoid Android for the SGS4G
First thank you goes to CM & ParanoidAndroid
From the Paranoid Android Homepage
"To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks.
This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode.
This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even system components individually.
Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course.
Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on.
This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size.
You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to.
You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot.
You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode.
Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself.
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone."
Source and Changelog
Please visit here for the Paranoid Android source code and changelog.
Disclaimer!
Your warranty is now void.
"I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you."
Instructions:
1. Reboot to cwm (this can be done from gb or ics with cwm 5.0.2.8 or higher).
2. Wipe data (back it up before hand).
3. Format System.
4. Flash ROM + gapps
5. Reboot let it sit for 5 then do the following:
1. Boot up without a sim
2. Once booted up go thru setup wizard.
3. Then put in airplane mode.
4. Reboot with sim in.
5. Quickly go to system settings > more > mobile networks take out of airplane mode, uncheck data (if this takes you a while the phone will lock up and reboot).
6. Then click 2g network.
7. Check data and it should work.

The screenies are from a previous unreleased build. The dpi in this release is more consistent with er1kmm's paaranoidANDROID-1.6a-UNOFFICIAL. To change dpi for individual apps go to settings > Paranoid Settings > apps.

Excellent point. This thread was created less that two hours after the linked build finished so I hadn't taken current screenshots. I'll change them as soon as I can.

Re: [ROM][4.1.2]Paranoid Android - SGS4G [v2.99][ALPHA]
ParanoidAndroid has been jacking with their source which has had me going crazy for weeks. I'll keep y'all up to date as best I can.
Sent from a hole in the time/space continuum.
I would really hope the better changes PA is making to their code is because of the new features I saw on the Nexus 4 PA! Such as the Pie and PA Colors! Plus hoping eventually for fixes to some of the bugs...especially the 4g and wifi!
Also wondering how hard is it to port ROMs from the SGS Vibrant to the SGS4G? There is already an awesome group of developers working topoetthe new Nexus 4 PA ROM to the Vibrant and SGS2! Would love to see those features!!!

Due to a myriad of issues with PA (changes, server problems which may lead to them changing servers, etc.) I haven't been able to successfully sync the source repository. Without the source I can't make any changes. PIE became open source only yesterday. Please use the Q&A for this project to post questions regarding it. Other questions in their appropriate place. Thank you.

Update Rumor
I was finally able to get the source to download Monday and eventually got it to build yet it doesn't quite work yet since it's 4.2.1  so this will probably need to be put on hold until the 4.2.1 kernel is closer to stable.
Thread Owner Change
I am turning this thread over to my teammate thomas.raines. He has the 4.1.2 source which is no longer available on GitHub. I appreciate everyone's patience with me in the lack of support I have been able to provide for this ROM. Thomas will do an excellent job.

Well, I was told "anything that happens with it, you get new one ootb in the spot. So thats why i bought it. Mines got smashed and fu+ked in ways you could not imagine and i got 1 new with no questions asked
and yes i dont speak english and NO, I got it replaced outside of us. Maybe it is only us who try to repair it
Looking forward to seeing some screen shots.
Also would like to know if you are using CM7, and if so, which build? Is 4G working?

i started doing this a little differently recently. instead of nightly builds, i occasionally tweet about pre-release test build. i upload a build, give the link out on irc and then take the link down in half an hour or so. follow me on twitter and youll get those updates.
gapps don't work for custom build?
I downloaded both of the builds. The stock one and the custom one. When I downloaded the stock one my gapps worked just fine. Then I tried the custom one for the God mode so I can change my battery to saying the number. One thing I foundout was that when I installed it my gapps installed but wont work. It might be the wrong one for it.
i also had issues with gapps.
1. wiped everything
2. flashed omfgb and gapps
3. booted
4. market doesn't open
5. no google account option under accounts and sync
im going to have to look into my google apps package, but for now grab the once off rom manager or cyanogens site.
Ooh a piece of candy..

This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, and indeed it's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank.
Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. Team PA is calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.
First I recommend that you use smelkus recovery found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543
- Make a backup of everything you value like music, pictures, etc
- WIPE EVERYTHING! (system, data, boot, sd-ext, cache)
- Partition your sdcard (follow steps below)
I recommend that you partition your sdcard to 1024 (1GB), swap size 0
Then move ext2 to ext3 then ext3 to ext4
- Download the ROM in the same place as the changelog
- Flash it
If you STILL have problems then THANKS to MrTekn010933 on YouTube we NOW have a HOW TO FLASH video!
As always, I want to give credit where is due! I'm not as foolish as some and think that I'm a big shot developer and I can do things by myself. I want to thank the following people!

THE BUSYBOX SOURCE USED FOR THIS ROM : https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_external_busybox
- P.A.L., First time in Android history that Per-App-Layout has been realized. This rom features a setting called Per-App-Density. You can define an apps native DPI
with it, make it look stock, smaller or bigger than that, your decision. All apps are depicted at DPI 240 per standard. No other ROM has that feature right now!!
- Google Play does not allow density changes and will stop working if you mess around with that. This rom fixes that problem for you 100%.
- More stuff: Recents window closer to stock, fixes for overlapping elements, framework fixes, no crashes, working Phone (looks 100% like stock aswell), etc.
- No 4G
- No FFC (front facing camera)
- Netflix and HULU PLUS (just audio, no video)
- Native Camcorder does not record (use Videocam illusion)
Global density: Is the one used by your hardware configuration and all non PAD touched applications. It's the old one that you can change with build.prop,
and this one can get you outside of tablet mode - Phone mode. Don't touch it if you dont know what you're doing. This one has nothing to do with PAD or PAL,
as it's the one designed by google.
Deafult SystemUI DPI: User interface density, can be reflected on statusbar, Recent apps, etc. This one can't get you outside of your current mode.
Deafult User DPI: Is the one used when your app is not on pad.prop list, so when you run a new app that it's installed by you, and not on /system/app, it
will run at this density. This one cant get you outside your current mode neither.
Some QUICK known facts...
- You CAN'T change framework dialogs (like when you hold power button) density on tab mode yet, don't waste your time (it's limited from 120 to 128 global
density so it's not a huge difference)
- Keyboard must be set at 236 in Phone mode to work well with On-Screen Buttons. In tablet mode, it must be set to Tablet mode/density 120
- If you see the dock on launchers in tablet mode, and not the old layout, this is NORMAL, it was ugly before, and now it's preset to phone mode at 240 density. If you want to get the old
ugly tablet mode for launchers, go to settings > paranoid > hybrid settings > list apps, select your launcher, put density to 120-140 and put in on tablet mode
The message that appears every time that you change DPI or layout mode for any app IS NORMAL, Team PA put it in there so changes can be applied, the APP IS NOT FORCE CLOSING
PLEASE REMEMBER that NOT every app works well in tablet mode! There's nothing I or any developer can do except the developer of that APP. If you want to blame someone, blame them!
Please search, read, search again and then read some more BEFORE posting! If you take anything I say personal or want to throw a hissy fit and TEACH ME A LESSON, PM me and we can
hug it out..hahahaha

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually.
This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Sense Recent Apps work only in Phone Mode. Un-tick your tablet mode under Paranoid setting then reboot. You will see the settings in system. Same thing for status bar transparency if I'm not mistaken.
the rom it's amazing
the only problem is that i can't restore from titanium backup games that have a size hier than approssimatly 30 mb D:
Anyone with a very kind heart who can upload the ROM to mediafire..? Having serious problem with filesharing sites due to crappy ISP...

Nope, everyone with a brain, will look at the title, see the "4.0.4" and know that this is based on CM9 (and contains all CM9 bugs)..
People without brains should never look or try anything on this development section.

I am currently moving back to my distro from the Release Preview (Win 8) so it might take some time, but I'll try to post a update by tonight.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually.
You do not need to boot your device into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of it.

If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

what about the icons in settings?.will it be ok everytime i change the theme?anyway thanks rohan for a wonderful job
Only been playing for about 20 minutes and already love it. Either battery reporting is broken or I'm in for some phenomenal battery life. It hasn't dropped one % and I'm really hammering away setting everything up. Idk if this is a cm10 bug or not but led only blinks red for me.
Edit: light is fully functional, just took a reboot. Unfortunately battery life is looking to be right about what I was expecting from a jb rom. I slept for about 6 hours and it dropped 6%. I know 1% an hour isn't terrible but I've been spoiled by viper and king cobra, where I'd lose 1 maybe 2 % after 8 hours. Also, my battery held 100% for over 20 minutes of screen time then after began plummeting I love paranoid android so I'm making a nand now and will follow this thread closely. Thanks rohan!
nice.... downloaded and flashing now!
Looking forward to the development of this rom.

Did you build from source or use apktool? If you source built I would be more than happy to work with you
Also, anyone notice any issues so far? I don't use this ROM as my daily driver so I won't have much interaction with it.

Chameleon OS (or ChaOS for short) is a custom Android ROM that gives the user more control than they can experience on any other Android ROM. Starting with a CyanogenMOD base, we customize each piece to give ultimate control while maintaining the simplicity we all love about Android. The most notable feature of ChaOS is the theme engine, which can apply different pieces of themes in a true mix-and-match style. The launcher has been completely overhauled with tons of options that you'd normally need to download a third-party launcher for, such as home screen previews, folder sorting, and folder icon styles. The Messaging app has also had some UI retouches, including messaging bubbles and quick emoji button.
The entire framework of ChaOS has been modified around the theme engine, allowing for custom fonts, boot animations (with animated preview), and themes. No longer do you have to try to find the perfect theme, with Chameleon OS you can patch it together with your favorite pieces from different themes. Messaging, Phone, Status Bar, icons, everything can be set completely individually from each other which provides the capabilities to completely re-imagine your phone. Creating themes for the ChaOS Theme Engine is superbly simple and has extreme versatility.
Even with all of the features we've currently implemented, ChaOS will continue to mature with even more refined settings and features. We will be completely open source and will welcome developers to join us, whether it be by maintaining a device or utilizing our gerrit review. Even if you're not a developer, your voice will not go unheard. We will continually poll our users for the most wanted features and do our best to implement them.

Download 27 Sept 2013 Build
Installation process is the same as CM10.2, You must update the bootloader & modem files.
@eugene373 awesome, thanks for sharing! that had to be said loudly!
How good is this
Hey has anyone tried this? What are the pros and cons? Any glitches? I don't want to switch over until someone with just as many questions and uncertainties puts their own phone at risk so I don't have to.
I keed, I keed. Installing now, will report back.
Good so far
Clean install, booted up fine.
Having no problems so far, I'm currently spending my Monday morning at work playing around with the theme stuff. I have a thing for customizeable theme engines
Can report on battery life later, I don't expect it to be much different than CM 10.2.
Side note: I am one of those with the terrible CPU, screen wake glitch is exactly the same as 10.2, no better no worse. (I've gotten a good system down that when it doesn't wake, I double-press the power button, this turns it "off" (I know this because the softkey lights go off) and back on and the screen almost always comes on that second time).
Loaded, Crashed
It loaded for about a minute and crashed on the homescreen when I tried to drag an app.
I'm not sure if it's specific to that ROM as I've had the same problem with the 10.2 nightlies.

Dude, #apexqtmo, now.
@chaosprodigy This ROM is probably a frameworks replacement for CyanogenMod, meaning it may offer unique features and look, but its core is still CyanogenMod, ie it is not unexpected for the bugs to be the same. What @killkillkill means is instead of @eugene373 pretending he can fix your bug by himself, he should be working with us since he's essentially working with the same code.
I'm still waiting for the custom kernels to appear, as I've said many times, any customized d2 kernel should work for apex since they also all copy cm as a base.

1st. ChameleonOS is Open source based off CyanogenMod
2nd. I just stated I don't have this issue, I'm not back into Dev'n at all. Just wanted something on the Relay & currently in process of selling my House & buying a new one.
3rd. I'm not pretending to be doing anything??

I tried to use this rom. It started and booted ok but did not have any google applications nor could i access google play or any kind of google accounts sync. Should i be uploading using a GAPPS along with it? which version if so?
Also, when i dragged apps onto my home screens the system would crash. I am running a nightly 10.2 right now. What do i need to do before installation?
Could you please provide a walk through with links to different packages which i need to install along with the ROM. Thanks!!!!

It's an Android 4.3 image based on CM 10.2, you'll need the same gapps package you installed for CM 10.2 to use Google Play Services.
No updates? Would like to try out some of the new features like the active display.

I switched off of this rom because my phone kept overheating, I believe I read on another thread that something was getting stuck due to a thermal daemon problem in the CM kernel... but I'd swap back if it updated to see if the problem repeated itself. Loved the ROM.
