[HELP] Play store link issue - General Questions and Answers

I had an old android device which I passed on from a distant relative and for some reason the play store just still be linked to my credit card as I've been billed for a game or two. Is there any way to prevent purchases from the device? As I really don't want to set up a new bank account for such a mishap.
I know I should've fully wiped it , but they were new to android and I installed a load of apps for them. So constructive criticism please , not to sound harsh
If anyone gets an idea , feel free to post here cheers

Wouldn't they be locked out if you simply changed the password to your Google account?

That's a fair shout. I'll change it now, never thought of that! :banghead: thanks

[Q] What happend to Sacred Odyssey!?

It has been a long time since I had looked at the Gameloft wapshop and so I went to reownload some of my games that I had purchased before. I had at one time bought Sacred Odyssey but now its missing from my downloads and no longer showing up in the store. I sent an email requesting they send me the apk for it. Anyone know why that GL game is no longer showing up? I bought it but never played it, hence why I was wanting to start playing it.
The purchase history system of the wapshop just sucks... it often purges things from the list after a month of purchase. It's still in their records, and likely in yours too depending on what method of payment you used, but they're largely relying on you to keep your APK backed up. Sacred Odyssey's still in your purchase history, you just can't see it from that page.
If they're gonna be so resistant to move ALL their games to the official Android market, they need to at least make an Amazon Appstore style app that you can log in to, purchase games, view trophies, read/reply to messages/friend requests and view complete purchase history.

I got my Sacred Odyssey apk in an email, and all it does it force close. I can download the files, but then everytime I attempt to load the game it force closes, even wiping the games cache and trying again, same results. Any ides?
That game's known for having spotty reliability.
Sometimes, it'll FC too much to even get through one dungeon... then there's other times when I can play it for a couple hours without any problems.

Is there any kind of a work around?
Not sure if I can asl this, but does anyone hapen to have the sd card files of this game? I have been stuck at 1mb forever and all it does is say "A problem occurred and the download could not be started... blah blah blah.

I am on Verizon, 2.3.3 Apparently 2.3.3 it does not work, but 2.3.2 or 2.3.4 and above it does work. I see it in my gameloft wapshop but after downloading it and trying to install the sd card files are stuck at 1mb remaining and wil not download anymore. Even then my friend has rhe same phone on 2.3.3 Verizon and it wont even load up the game. I borrowed his files and same with mine, it force closes every time. I think it was TL Thery said its an issue that GL has yet to fix. So I paid $5 for a game that is useless to me.
Have you tried contacting gameloft? I find them to be quite useful thus far

Yes, I have. 3 times, and 2 thread posts on their forums. No response. I once had a reply to an email 5 months after I sent it and by that time I already had a new phone and was told I would need to re-buy all my games. That is ridiculous
Money grabbers, I just wish to God they would support the android market completely and stop this crap.
Strange as I pretty much always get a response the next day. Didn't it say (when purchasing the game) that if you have any problems then contact (game loft email address)? It did for me on the games I bought and then I could access the page through my browser history save click on the email.

I appreciate you asking for me, I absolutely have no idea why about 98% of my emails go unanswered, I mean beyond the "we have recieved your email and you will be contacted shortly" thing. I made a big post over on the GL forums venting my frustrations and was told if I didnt modify my posting I would be banned, so I modified completely stating I had edited it do to pressure of being banned, and then posted that I have no other way of getting through to somone about the issues, then I finally got a reply to the thread saying it was going to investigated, but have yet to actually get any contact back from them, I'll give it a week, hopefully it wont be that long but I will be shocked if they contact me back about it.

{Off topic} Why do people pirate apps?

It really annoys the hell out of me when people like to do so called *cracking apps* when they don't even know that is. Cracking means modifying the source code illegally and using the app for free which would otherwise cost money. You ARE NOT cracking it. You are STEALING it. The developers are working day-night just to make couple of cents but you on the other hand pirating it.
Just go outside and have a deep thought about it. You are willing to spend $50 easily on shopping, whereas, you don't even pay a dime for all the hard work the dev do it for you. It is just stupid. If you found a dollar on the road you wouldn't pick it, but where it comes buying $1 app you google it day and night all day long. I am not a dev but I do understand how it's like. So please please for god's sake stop piracy.
Go go sopa! or not?
Its because they are cheap and don't understand or care that it takes a lot of time and money to develop apps.
In many cases of free apps I wish there was a way to donate to the developer as I hate using something for free that I feel I should pay for.

There is already an off topic thread, why did you create a new one? It's just cluttering up the forum, and unnecessary, since your subject is a small matter and not worth a thread.

Back when I was in school I used to get the cracked apps. Being cheap? No. No debit card nor would parents allow me to use their cards for purchase.

Don't think this is an issue in the large scale. I don't know anyone who would waste his time searching for a cracked app instead of paying one or two bucks for the few apps you want and need to pay for.

To test for a greater time than 15 mins would justify a bit of searching. PowerAMP got it right back in the day. Something like 2 weeks full version trial then you must purchase. Still the best buy I've had on Android.

If you really wanted the app, you would have got the free version. I am sure that you looked for something like " how to get paid apps for free?"
There no access to credit card nor charge cards or whatever cards. So they have to use cracked apps.

Maybe im wrong but i think that at a large scale it doesn't affect developers so much ..

For me the situation is quite different.
I have been stealing apps (yea, i don't affraid to admit it, but im not brave of it). Then i decided to start buying them and supporting developers (bought Cerberus and couple other).
It's maybe my problem, but im affraid to provide my credit card numbers to websites such as google wallet to let them pull the money they want. The paypal here was solution, i could charge my paypal account, so they didn't knew anything about my credit card and it was safe. BUT then wild Google Wallet appeared and there's no such option. No money transfer, no transfer from paypal, i have to provide numbers on back of my credit card. If someone in google goes mad, with the provided cc numbers he can pull as much money as he want. I know it sounds riddiculous, but I like safety. I can't relly on their good will, that thay won't abuse it.
So i stopped buying apps, as there is no way to put money on my account.
I use cracked apps just to check if they are worth the money. I treat them as demo. If I like it I buy it.Cheers

I have no problem purchasing apps, but I do know that aside from the credit card issue, many games and apps just aren't available on playstore in many countries, these are great apps and games and I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be available everywhere, maybe we should look to the causes of many people's pirated apps.

I have to use Market ebabler, and droidVPN so I could view all of the apps on play store.
This is insane!
I've spand 100-200$ for android apps.
I'm with android since 1.5 back in 2009.
Some apps are simply overpriced and I have to find a solution does the app deserve the money, and for that reason I google it to find it for free, just for testing.

There are such things as prepaid credit cards. Just a hint. As an alternative some markets (not Google Play) accept also paypal etc.
Google Play with paypal, at least 20% of us will start buying apps.
I dont use many apps on my android, so buying few apps is not a problem for me. bank in in about RM10 ( 3USD+- ) on my account, and bought apps. Im a student thou. Other than that, I often buy iPad apps, even thou I jailbreak it. Jailbreak for me is only for tweaking. I even bought paid cydia apps. Same goes to my android, root/unknown source/s-off or what so ever, I dont support piracy.
Have the kaching to bought devices/gadgets but dont have the kaching to buy apps? what say you.

this is riddiculous! you don't feel safe to trust google wallett, but you'd trust paypal!!! there's no differencies between those two. they are both corporate giants, if you're paranoid trust neither. or better, don't be paranoid.

Google Play SECURITY WARNING

So yesterday I was looking at buying an app off Google Play to support the Trinity kernel's voodoo sound. O.K., so the app is $3.50.
I go to click Purchase to buy this app and charge it to my T-Mobile account. SURPRISE! Google now forces you to sign up for Google Wallet and that you link your mobile phone account to Google Wallet. If you don't sign up for Google Wallet you can't make app purchases from Google Play.
I called T-Mobile and there's nothing they can do, Google owns the Google Play store and this is a requirement. T-Mobile isn't happy about it and people have been complaining all week.
Like most people I damned well don't want a Google Wallet account. Google has proven again and again that they can't be trusted with any personal information. Now, they want to be able to take money from us through our mobile phone carriers.
If you get Google Wallet, Google can charge you whatever they want to your Mobile Phone account. Like, what happens if Google decides to fine people that root their phones? Stranger things have happened.
Option One of buy a Google Play gift card and make purchases off that gift card.
Option Two is to use another app store, like the Amazon App Store:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get-appstore/android/ref=mas_rw_ldg
So, stay Away from Goggle Play

Yeah I was really iffy about being forced to use Google+ to review apps. If this is true, Google just wants to push Wallet so that they can release a statement in a few days about "the hundreds of thousands new Google Wallet users they've seen in the past week".

I like to be able to CHOOSE if I'm going to sign up for a payment system like Google Wallet.
I don't like being FORCED to sign up. It's dishonest and unethical.
Google will never fine people for rooting phones it is not against the law and Google android is open source unlike apple or windows. Google and android actually encourage the use of the open source for development. And you should be able to still purchase through the play store with out the use of Google wallet I have not signed up with it...

A few corrections to your post:
1) Apple just made it against the law to jailbreak your iPhone
2) It is a violation of your cell service contract to root your Android
3) The low level drivers are not open source
4) Open-source is what Google decides it means.
5) Google is known for making up their own rules
example: "We at Google value your privacy" = "Give us your personal information so we can make money by giving it away to strangers"
In that context, "value" = it's valuable to Google to make money off it.

I don't see the problem here. When was the last time anyone read the EULA? There are no rights anywhere... just a false sense of security.

Picasa Folio

Google is starting to p*** me off more and more lately.
I use or should I say used to use an app called #Picasafolio to manage my #Picasa photos. It's a paid app but the best at what it does and is reasonably priced.
The dev has always been really responsive and usually has a resolution to any issues the same day. I was having some problems relating to the 4.4 update and downloading folders. Emailed the dev who chased down the issue and pushed an update to the play store. Updated last night but didn't try it till this morning. Had an issue where I couldn't login so contacted the dev who responded promptly with the following email:
'This is because Google has terminated the app for apparent violations of copyright. I've appealed but this looks like the end of my business.
Thanks,
Brian'
Checked the play store and sure enough a search reveals nothing. No explanation as to why the app is no longer there, nothing.
I feel angry on behalf of Brian who is a dedicated developer for the android market, no notice, no attempt to resolve the situation, just the app removed from the play store and an email.
I'm one of the lucky ones who are aware of what's happened but what about everyone else who purchased the app? This app has been in the store for a long time so the decision to pull it now seems ridiculous.
Surely as Google Play being a middleman then they have some responsibility to the buyer. After all if I purchased something on Amazon which later didn't work etc I could contact Amazon for a resolution.
There are still plenty of apps on the Play Store which perform similar functions so why remove this one.
I've purchased plenty of apps via the playstore but from now on unless I can get them through Amazon I will have to look for alternatives. I'm not spending money on something just for Google to decide they no longer like it or it no longer fits in the terms and conditions.
Still bloody annoyed with Goggle!!!!!

Yep. I have multiple devices with PIC backup so having something like this is essential to manage the auto backup folder. Since Google has blocked the OAuth the app is now useless.

Anybody know how to raise a complaint with Google about this?

Some good news! ?
I have republished the app on Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.snapwood.pfolio, addressing the most likely reason for the ban (app name). I have no assurance that Google won't ban this app as well, but as the rest of the app had been stable for at least a year, the app name was the likely reason.
I was able update the app on Amazon, so users there will be receiving an app update to fix the login issue once Amazon approves it.
For Google Play users that want to continue to receive updates or want to avoid the login workaround, please purchase the new app and send me the email address used to purchase the original app. I'll refund that prior order so everything comes out even in the end. I apologize for this mess.
Thanks,
Brian

[Q] plz help

i have proplem with i phone 4s locked with apple IDI've bought it and when i update it it requires the apple id and i don't get the id
If you're saying that there's already an Apple ID on the device but you don't know the password then go to Settings --> Store and then Log out to sign in with another account.
If you don't have an Apple ID i think you can create one from Store settings on your iPhone , or just visit Apple website

Please Press the "Thanks" button if i helped C:

You can also simply skip that part and register afterwards. Bottom right - "Skip".
well then
If this phone was bought from you then I think you should have it. Why don't you ask the Apple Genius? Tell them your phone number and they should be able to checking up for you.
If you ever installed an app from App Store or bought music from iTunes then you definetely have an Apple ID already, and as it is linked with your credit card and purchases it would be a good thing to call Apple in order to get it back... If you just bought one for the first time on the aftermarket then you'll need to create one at some point, but for now you may skip this and enjoy your phone until you need an ID....
