Audible.com is beta testing their app. if your a member and sign up for the beta test, I believe you will get the APK. Even if you're not a current customer but have some books in your library this may be of interest.
Mostly I'm wondering if anyone else is able to get the app working well enough on our heroes to be able to listen to a book on it yet?
The app works great and looks very polished but playing audio is too choppy. Audible support has promised a fix in the next rev but just thought I'd ask for others with experience around here!
Found out they issued a new build! Audio quality is stellar now, anyone else out there an Audible listener that's excited about this?
How are you guys getting a hold of the audible app? I'm a member and shot them an email about it, but I have yet to hear anything back from them. I would love to get this app!

I did a search and noticed no one had a topic on it so if its been discussed feel free to delete this thread MOD, anyways Ive tried it out and I get some really mixed performance but all in all i like it. Any input as to any other apps that might be better? http://www.ithinkdiff.com/facetime-...3g-wifi-supports-iphone-4-iphone-3gs-android/

and in case you want to become a beta tester...here. Might be too late though.
But personally I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. My brothers are both getting new 4th Gen iPod Touches soon though, one of which is going to be deploying soon. So I will definitely be using this app soon. It looks very promising.
It is decent but it kills your battery. The app keeps the phone awake. Once they fix this, it will replace qik and fring for me, but in the meantime I will stick with fring for cross platform video chat

Agreed. I'm sure they will have the battery drain fixed within the next week or so though. Anything to get rid of fring. Its a nice app and all, but I absolutely hate the UI. It looks like a 3rd grader's artwork.
Damn my bad i typed in tango in the search and nothing popped up :/ oh well, either way yeah i did notice that while i was testing it out it was murdering the battery, and I agree that fring's ui is really bad.

Hello everyone! I am sure that every Android gamer is aware of the awesome new product from Power A known as the Moga controller. If not you can check it out here at the Power A website. Basically it is a controller that attaches onto your Android device to allow for endless gaming possibilities. Actually, scratch the part about "endless gaming possibilities." The possibilities are NOT endless because Power A decided to limit Moga compatibility to games only officially supported by Moga. Even worse, you need to have the official "Moga Pivot App" from Google Play installed AND running in the background WHILE you play the game. There is a huge problem with this setup: many apps that are not being developed any more may NEVER get Moga support. For example, every emulator app by yongzh hasn't been updated in months. The last time his N64 app was updated was sometime in July. Every other emulator app hasn't been updated for more than a year, so I think we can assume that he has stopped developing. So here is my request: make an app that is similar to Sixaxis Controller that would allow us to use the Moga gaming controller on any app with bluetooth controller support. I don't think it would be too hard to pull off. If this could be done, it would truly make the gaming possibilities endless for Moga. Otherwise, this device is useless to me.
I've been working on reverse engineering the connection tonight since it doesn't just advertise itself as a HID device. I've got the initialization/ping/flush commands figured out and have the response data figured out, too. Tomorrow night I'll start working on writing an IME that translates everything into nice, standard events.
Stay tuned!

Awesome! I just got this as a gift and was sorely disappointed with the closed ecosystem it introduced. I was sad that i might have to return it since it felt nice in the hand. If you managed to get this working that would be so awesome! Ill be looking out for your fix.
Great work ObsidianX, it really annoys me that they didn't implement this controller as a standard bluetooth HID device.
I was actually considering ordering one until I saw the reviews that pointed this out. I still don't know if I would want to order one if you/the community figure out how to make it openly compatible - it should have been that way in the first place! Then it could work with PCs/Laptops/other devices too... that's actually what I like about the look of this controller - close the folding arm and you have a decent looking regular controller that could be used with anything, unfold it to attach your phone and it works there too... It would have been awesome, but that's not what they made it to be.
Still I look forward to following your efforts and might consider ordering one if it does end up working out well enough!
~Troop
Oh man that's great to hear, I have one of these and being restricted to like five apps out of the 30+ I own is annoying. I just want some emulator support really..
Put me on the list that would be HUGELY grateful if you made a workable hack.
It's working
I'm going to clean it all up and put it up on Play hopefully tonight but by tomorrow, for sure.
Nice! Awesome news. I'll be on the lookout to give it a DL and let you know my results.
Can't wait to actually USE this Moga controller.

Would be nice if you could also mod it the other way and have Native USB controllers (I.E dualshock3 or X-box pad) seen as a MOGA controller to the pivot app. We could then have full on game support (with no on-screen controls) from the likes of Gameloft, E.A for normal NICE controllers which have more of a pedigree. Why pay $50 for a cheap controller with triple A battery's when you could get one of the best controllers ever made for half the price and have it function the same if not better.
PS - If people are only interested in the clip here is a better idea - Gameclip and SIXAXIS

Great work on the app OP!
On a slightly related topic...
The MOGA site lists Dead Trigger as one of the supported games for the controller. I've not been able to get Dead Trigger to work with the stock app or the app from this thread.
Has anyone else had any success getting Dead Trigger to work, and if so, how did you do it?
Thanks
EDIT: I used the key mappings in this post along with the app in this thread and Dead Trigger is working pretty well.
I have a feeling this thread will be getting more popular in the next few days.
bought one from the sale, so stoked to find this thread. Many many thanks to the OP.
Got the freebie in the mail. Seems I can run it fine for a few minutes on either the nexus 4 or 7, but then it starts to lose accuracy. Playing an fps, where once I could look up in a controlled manner, it gets to the point where trying the same amount of motion on the sticks makes me look at the sky. Ideas? Both stock rooted. 4 on 4.2.1, 7 on 4.1.2.
Using pivot app. Will try universal app as well.
Sounds cool, is this like a game center?
Any UK retailers selling this?

I have tried using this stick for a couple days and I think it has some potential, but the interface is horrid. I'd like to start a discussion about how to modify, root, or at least find some apps that can help make this a better media option.
Anybody else got one yet or that can point me in the right direction?
It comes preloaded with 4.0.1, plex and the ability to sideload apps, so it should be pretty straight forward

What about a custum 4.2 update? would be great with the multiply account function for tv of the familie :good:
Since there is a usb port, does it come with drivers for a computer? And is it stock android with favi's hand picked apps/ui on it, or forked kinda like a kindle?
I just ordered one of these with the keyboard. I should be here on Monday. I am curious to see how this thing works out. I just want to use it for Netflix and HBOgo. Everything else will be a bonus. I will write a small review after I get my hands on it.
I saw this last night. It looks interesting but one of the few reviews on YouTube was horrendous. Nothing worked right. But then again the guy doing the review could be an idiot. I'm kind of thinking the latter is true.

I like the concept of multi-account. I am not sure the 4GB version I ordered could handle too much data (I believe there are duplicates of apps when using muti-account in 4.2, is that true?). Regardless, I think the 8GB version would be better setup to handle that.
In the last week, I haven't used the stick at all. that is partly due to being busy, but also having a bad taste in my mouth from my initial use of the stick (lack of usability) and being really frustrated with force closes, poor responsiveness and having to switch out HDMI cables to use it because I have too many devices connected and not enough HDMI inputs on my TV...but I digress.
I see that the XBMC Frodo Release Candidate 1 has been released http://xbmc.org/download/
my plan is to drop that on the smart stick this weekend (via the USB thumbdrive, I assume) and see how well it can handle it. My hope is I will get 1080 output, the new audio engine, PVR support and other nice goodies in the latest XBMC development and when it is stable and working well, to be able to grab my current XBMC user options folder and drop it into the stick.
Then I will have all my favorites, subscriptions, local network music/tv/movie folders, etc easily ported form my ATV2 iOS XBMC to the smart stick android XBMC....
I will report back and would like to hear if others have tried something similar.
I will follow this thread. Very interesting thoughts.
Do you know if you can control it with your phone/tablet?
Would be awesome to make my Nexus 7 into remote!

The reviews I have seen haven't been the best. I love the idea of this, but maybe its a little under powered. There are other ones out there that have dual core processors. According to Amazon, mine will be here on Monday. If its not up to the task, I might try one of the other ones which have dual core processors.
Ok, so it came early, and I was able to get it hooked up. I have been playing with it for awhile, and my initial impressions are not good. I don't know if it is lack of oomph with the processor, or terrible software, but this thing is barely usable for my needs.
I did download the googletv remote app. It works pretty well. Occasionally, it loses connection, but overall it works fine.
Initial setup is pretty painless. After getting everything up and running, I downloaded netflix and hbogo. Neither work very well. Netflix takes a long time to load and there is terrible lag. After a few minutes, it seems to get better. Because the app is made for tablet/phone, it doesnt work nearly as well with a tv, because of the lack of a touch screen to scroll with. It becomes an exercise in patients to get what you want on this app. The search feature works just fine, but for general browsing, it really isnt very good.
HBOGo is much worse. With big series such as the sopranos, it overwhelms the unit and things almost completely freeze up. There was no way to select any episode because of all the lag. I did a movie to load, but the resolution was subpar and the video is choppy. I have full bars and the Favi is right next to my router. HBOGo works flawlessly on my phone or tablet, but on the TV, it is really bad.
I love the idea of this thing, but i don't see me holding onto this unit very long. It really is a slow pile of junk at this point.
Unfortunately your experience sounds exactly like mine. I am wondering, hoping that the XBMC implementation may do a better job as it may utilize few resources

Upon reading more about the one from laptopmag.com, it comes rooted out of the box. and apparently although it cant reach 1080p resolution natively, some have been able to do so with custom roms, and being only 5 bucks cheaper makes it alot better. Thanks for those links!

720p is good enough.
I am looking at the last link I posted. The MK802 III. It has a 1.6ghz processor where the first link is only 1ghz.
Edit: Just saw the mk802 II on amazon for $37
I should have looked at reviews before I bought this thing, what a pile of crap... It's really terrible, so damned slow. I don't remember even my OG Droid being that slow at 1ghz, and it only had 256mb ram... I'd love to see it rooted with overclocking and CM10.1...
Ok, I've been playing around with this thing. I disabled all apps and processes which aren't necessary.
Stock Browser is terrible. I downloaded Opera and Chrome and they work better, but not great.
Youtube app works really good. No lag, high quality video and sound.
HBOGo is terrible on this thing.
Netflix takes a little time before it works, but it seems to be pretty good. After the videos load (which take too long), it has worked pretty flawlessly.
I uninstalled googletv app once my wireless keyboard came in. The googletv app worked ok, but was buggy. the wireless keyboard works much better.
Its still a little disappointing and a little unstable, but with some tweaks, it might be OK in the future. They have released a rooted access build. The bootloader is locked, so this will limit development. Because this thing was so cheap, I might hold onto it. I have been debating keeping it and hoping it gets better, or sending it back and buying MK802III. I have until the end of January to send back, so I will continue to play with it for now.

After I collect myself, the first thing I did was update the new firmware, install XBMC that is recommended on Minix forum and setup RK remote control.
I notice 1080p movies has a bit stutter on the video, but 720p was great.
What's next?
recomended apps?
launchers?
accessories? - Next thing i'm picking up is the A2 airmouse
I only had 2 hours to play with it yesterday.................

But to answer your question here. I love TV launcher or use xbmc for your launcher I use pimp my ROM and ROM tool box to tweak several different aspects of the x5 and x7.
A really good app I love is videomixpro in the other forums I have a Dropbox link to the free version or you can find it on Google its kinda like Netflix on steroids but has a one time fee like 2 bucks.
If you like gaming the x7 can play almost every game ive thrown at it ashphalt 8 plays well plus a slew of emulators I use my x7 as game slash media center good luck

Thank You for all the help Brett.
I sign up for Minix Forums yesterday.
I have received my one a few days ago and waited to give it a proper try until i fixed my Logitech K400.
Soon i will add a few things i've run upon, let me say, minor annoyances, but in general the piece is running good, i am as speaking, currently updating to 005 release and will give it another try until the review.
I haven't installed the 005 update yet. I have been running Finless Bob's rom from freaktab, and it's been treating me pretty well. Strauzo's sdk2 one ran well, but i only have the minix crap remote, so not having the rkremote available made me switch back to the finless bob. We need to get some people who are smart devs to work on developing a great firmware
heh, found out about freaktab just an hour ago, that nexus thing caught my attention, might give it a try as i really need multi-user enviroment.
anyway, as i mentioned earlier, there are some stuff that bugged me a bit. one major problem right now is External HDDs, got two of them connected and none of them is mounted, i just get a notification that the usb storage can be safely removed. Stock firmware, ull notice 1080p is kinda 1080i, doesnt feel FullHD, but then i noticed everybody noticed this, and should be a matter of time until this is addressed.
Then the hardware keyboard needs more attention on this area. "Enter" key does not work in no app as a send command, whether it is a facebook send message or an enter to confirm a password. right click is back button, and moving around pages with two finger scroll is too sensitive (but i was so in Win and OS X with the Logitech K400).
Basically, Minix got not much to do except stimulate a more dev friendly device so it can be community rich, with little to adapt to i see 4.3/4.4 on the way faster then on phones definitely.
Havent done any gaming yet, nor stress tested it with some 1080p material, but using it for browsing and chitchat, flawless until now .

check with the guys from minixforum.com
Btw which link you followed to root your unit?

Imortant: You have to replace the adb.exe wich is old and does not work anymore. Take it from android sdk.
Should not be dangerous, because you can always flash a clean firmware. But use at your own risk.

First, sorry for the delay, wasnt much around here.
As the post above says, freaktab.com is by far the best community regarding the sticks/boxes. How i see it, the X7 is getting the most attention right now due to its support, but the community is more alive from shared knowledge, and leaked stuff .
Regarding the technical side, i did try Paragon for exfat, and gave up since they only support that if you contact them, for some reason exfat is not really included on the app. And to be even more honest, i rooted and did not have any problems whatsoever dealing with hardware.
1080p playback is in its final touches, there is a rom based on the kitkat sdk sources released, it is blazing fast yet it uses an old kernel, minix promised that they're next move is going to be with a new kernel, so we have to see what that is going to bring. The only thing is, just like any manufacturer, if they release a newer device then the old ones are going to suffer from official support.
Those devices in my opinion are pretty much under heavy testing era, they still under-perform for the values they've got inside. The more community it has though, the faster they evolve.
