Has anyone else noticed how poor the Microsoft app is?
1. It doesn't seem to pick up any notifications anymore (when first released it worked)
2. It only shows you the last comment made. What about any previous ones?
3. Only being updated with the 10-15 most recent updates isn't enough...
I find it easier and more relible as mobileweb page rather than the app... Much more reliable!
Anyone else annoyed with the lack of progress in Microsoft development?!
That app was never as good as the mobile site.

If you haven't already tried it, go to iphone.facebook.com on the Iris browser. That's the best mobile facebook experience right now IMHO. That new Dorothy browser might work well also, being that its webkit based, but I'm a QVGA kind of guy right now and I get no love from them
Yeah, it kind of sucks as far as I can tell. I like using the Skyfire home feed better. One thing it is great for, though, is uploading videos. The HTC album only lets you upload pics to facebook and vids to youtube.

I much prefer the WM phones but they just don't develop them quite like the iPhone stuff yet! Grrr
Get a move on WM
the facebook panel for x1's is a lot! better then ms's facebook apps
but still the best facebook app I've used is the ipod touch/ iphone app :S
Is that facebook app still on the 1.0.0.7 version? My god what a horrible excuse of an app that was.

Yeah it is/was 1.0.0.7 and I agree it's vary poor!
And that was released ages ago, still with no updates!
Come on Microsoft, pick up those ever dragging feet!!!

microsoft should focus on peoples needs, not just focus on people wants
everyone wants their pda to work like iphone interface
Anyone have any contacts in Microsoft?
it's incredible that this app is lagging so far behind the iphone one (yes I have an iphone and the facebok app is outstanding...shame about the rest of the phone).
I don't use facebook a lot, but millions of people do and for MS not to have a decent app is perhaps one of the reasons they lose market share to apple.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work. I'm talking about the skype video chat feature with a PC. So frustrated.
I tried it for the first time today and I have to agree. It wasn't showing friends on Google Talk that were online in the real app. And it wouldn't show anyone online in Skype. And on top of that, it wouldn't do calls between Gtalk clients or Skype either, it just kept dialing and disconnecting.
I uninstalled it, it's obviously junk.
I haven't have any problems with it yet (I've only used it a handful of times), I would not complain anyway.
It's a free app and it's being run on a phone released less than a month ago.
Time will help.

No offense to op. impo, i think its disrepectful to the devs working hard to make apps or this app in particular, to post a thread just to rag on their work, which is obviously intended to improve OUR user experience. Android is indeed open source and if i want better, i am more than welcome to write up something myself.....to improve the app a pm containing your problems in detail wouldve probably been a bit more considerate, and a proper way to handle this issue. Good luck with future app flamings
i think this thread is useless. fring works for me perfectly. video chat does go down but that is probably because of the fact that qik is so garbage and EVERYONE is trying to use fring all of a sudden. their servers were probably not ready for the massive onslaught of the EVO. I feel like i do have the right to bag on Qik because they are supported by Sprint and all their $$$ and their video quality is nowhere near as good as fring.

right on. unlike other free or lite programs, this one doesn't include ads and it works fine for me. i've no complaints, and even if i did, no loss, it's free. maybe you should get an iphone...oh scratch that. steve-o looked like he was frustrated when he called his boyfriend, ives. plus it only does iphone to iphone on wifi.

Agreed.. Qik has been a 100% letdown.. Sprint should remove their affiliation and offer better alternatives. The verification system for Qik is lame, the constant updates in the last week has been lame.. Overall a garbage experience.
fring is ok, aside from that i keep seeing MagnusRagnarok posting with those letters and size that suck, and i think his the only one who does it, and everytime i see those letters i skip his post i have seriously never read what he has to say, its disturbing.
Works quite well for me (Fring) and I use it all the time. Qik? Total POS. I've never been able to use is successfully, and even if it I did, I can only call other Evo's? GMAFB Sounds like Apple's FaceTime crap.
+100 Fring - combines all of my "chat" and video conference apps into one, and does it on my cell phone! I video conference with people on PC's all the time with Fring. Sure, the quality isn't HD or anything, but... do I have to say it again? I CAN DO IT - ON MY CELL PHONE! LOL
While I'm repeating myself... Qik can KMA. Sprint should put their development money into Fring... its a lot farther along, and those guys deserve a big break.
WTF is up with Fring ???? been having problems with it for like the last 30 minutes... cant log in.. tried changing password... even tried it from a pc and no dice

It works for me, pretty flawless too. Fring > Qik
I don't like how fring looks. I tried video calls on the EVO and there is so much white space, it makes it look cheap and ugly. I wish you could drag video windows around or make them full screen.
I just did an EvO to iPhone video with my friend and i had to keep the volume about half way, otherwise he sounds distorted on my end. Kind of sounds like my speaker is blown(its not) if i raise the volume passed the half way point. I could hear him clearly though. There were times where he said he couldn't hear me at all and he said he had his volume all the way up. I hope these are lil bugs that get fixed. Otherwise, it's pretty good

Amen to that. Qik is garbage. I can't see anyone putting that app over fring. More options and IMHO better interface.
i think fring removed skype due to verizon's contract with skype...i.e. no more video skype from fring!
The latest Skype update for Android is available to everyone, but it only enables video chat on four specific handsets. Fortunately, impatient modders have gone some way to correcting this profound injustice, by creating APKs that activate video calling on other handsets too. So far we've heard of successful ports on the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation, Thunderbolt and EVO 4G. If you've got some other handset with Android 2.3, a little experimentation with the APK might also be worth your while. However, we just tried it on an Xperia Arc and didn't get very far: the app ran, but efforts to communicate with an Xperia Neo resulted in one-way video, a locked landscape mode and plenty of awkwardness. Let us know if you fare better -- you'll find a Thunderbolt-specific download at the DroidLife source link, and a more general APK at TechPetals.
http://blogs.skype.com/en/2011/06/smile_skype_for_android_with_v.html
Figured I would drop this in here if anyone has some know how and wants to look into it to see if there is anyway for us to have this on our phone. Doubt it though considering it requires 2.3 which seems to be the standard for google video chat and stuff, but hey, its worth a shot!!!
Found some more info. Tested and still didn't work but apparently on our device but confirmed on the SGS2. Here is the link for the guy who got it working.

Probably requires GB.... I would think
yep. the official requires gb and in the list of device check. with device check removed, almost all with gingerbread can use it.

Yeah, one of Google's big thing at IO was that they wanted to eliminate the fragmentation, yet I haven't seen anything to indicate they're taking steps to achieve this.
Unfortunately it's one big advantage Apple has... they take a hard line position that the carrier doesn't touch the OS software, nor prevent the deployment of the updates. Not sure why Google is such a wuss when it comes to holding the carriers accountable for the timely delivery of their updates. AT&T says it's because they have to ensure a quality user experience, but comon, what AT&T customer actually believes that crap? LOL

hey, this is gonna sound like a really dumb question and way off topic but can you tell me how your notified when someone posts. I have always been one to read through forums daily but have never gotten too good at participating, as you might tell as I have been a member for 3 years and have very little posts. I personally have to try and remember the threads I participated in and see if someone replied. This seems very redundant but I don't see a better way to be notified. Thanks in advance
Is anyone's phone dying quickly after installing this. I even tried signing out and closing the app but my phone legit drains 10% an hour on standby. So I deleted the app. Now my wifi is turning on and off and can't keep a constant connection. Help?

I personally have seen no change since installing it, as for the wifi thing are you rooted and running any rom of sort of just stock? I have seen some wifi issues with the roms. Don't know if maybe the app sparked the problem or what but maybe you can backup your apps and reinstall. Good luck

The only true advantage that Apple has over Android is that they only more or less support one device. Android is spread amongst how many different devices? It's easy to put out lackluster updates to a single device, but putting out updates to 20+ different devices isn't so easy.
how are you guys even getting it to install? is it actually working?
yes please, can any one confirm that the video call on Skype is working on the infuse?
regards
no it is not working. installing the custom apk does give you the video call option, but if you press it, it goes into landscape to prepare for video call and then it does nothing. gingerbread is needed since it uses the frontfacing camera api.

Yes, my phone's battery started draining in about two hours after installing Skype, so I uninstalled and things are better again now.
Even if Skype supports video on the Infuse, I don't think I will start using it unless they address the battery usage.

Have you tried Stop Skype from Market?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153285
apparently theres been some success with modding skype for froyo. anybody want to try out some of these builds?
This phone is awesome. I have yet to see any posts showing interest in their phone, beyond changing ROMs like its a disease.
I recently found out I can use 'Six-Axis controller' to connect a ps3 controller to my phone and effectively have a portable n64 console with me. All I need to do now is find a Conker's Bad Fur Day or Banjo-Kazooie ROM.
I recently found out about LCD density changing and messed around with it a lot. 180 makes our Skyrocket look sexy. (But now I'm experiencing market compatibility issues so I need to look more into it).
I like organization, so SD-Maid was a nice find and I'm going to learn Titanium Backup to increase my battery life. Just need to find a freeze list.
I found the site My ColorScreen so theming will be a task soon undertaken, as soon as the necessities are figured out.
So come on, share some cool things about your phone. Whether it's a cool Llama task you made, new homescreen setup, an app you think people should know about, a ROM you like (AOKP + CM9, thank you guys), or an important tip you should know (I didn't know Titanium Backup could restore my folder settings in Nova Launcher, that would have saved time).
Be a little positive guys.
Why is it that an incorrect, naive post about an OTA update for Skyrocket can get two pages instantly full of people *****ing about how useless the thread is (then don't reply to it smartass).
While a thread with the capacity to help people find some cool things about their phone gets nothing.
I hear the app "LCD Density Modder Pro" can fix the market compatibility issues. It's a paid app though.
Any more info on the six-axis controller and how to use the phone as a "portable n64"? That sounds interesting!
Edit: Ah, a little bit of googling answered my question about that six-axis controller.. didn't realize it was an app. Makes sense now. Which N64 emulator do you use?
I don't root my phone but I love it to death! I also agree that negative posts get more responses than US news media stories.
That being said I love that flipboard app and I'm going to be buying a new Samsung LED TV. I've heard that we can turn our phones into remote controls for the actual TV, if not yet its on the horizon.
I also use mine for web browsing mostly and I'm looking for a cool app like MATLAB based or something that has Physics and Calculus formulas all over. I hope this thread gets going. Mad thanks to the OP. This is the first thanks I've used.

I currently have a Samsung TV, and it's true that we can use our phone as a remote control, as long as your TV has wifi and you connect your phone to the same network. You'll just need the app conveniently named "Samsung Remote" lol. It's free in the market. Works for their blu-ray players too I think.

Mupen64AE, pulled for free from the developers site here. You just run sixaxis and start the emulator, then map the buttons (less than 10 seconds) and you're good to go. Emulators were always a cool idea to me but they didn't translate well for certain games, but honestly with the analog sticks and actual triggers its a perfect experience.

I had this happening too! I was driving me crazy as sometimes it wouldn't do it, but 99% of the time it did. Mine personally never straightened out, even in landscape mode...but that may just be my phone. Nexi seem to have individual quirks haha. I eventually had to abandon chrome due to this and the com.sandbox process draining the hell outta my browser. If it doesn't resolve, I recommend to you Next Browser. Has pretty much all the same features and I have yet to have any glitches on it like I did on Chrome.

Well I will switch to any browser that has the same performance as Chrome has also didn't have this issue. So annoying. But Chrome (I use the Beta one) is the fastest browser in KitKat I would say. It's not like another browser wasn't good, but chrome is really fast and smooth. Naked Browser is great but I hate it's interface. Too ugly.

A slight digression, but does anyone else find the auto-sizing of the text in Chrome a little annoying? It's obviously the route of the issues here where it re-sizes the text but doesn't allow a large enough gap between the lines.
Why does Chrome feel the need to make some text huge and other text tiny? This is especially an issue on forums like XDA where one post is like size 24 and the next one looks like 12. I'd like to know the algorithm used to decide whose posts are more important
I use Opera for xda.
