Has anybody had any problems with dust under your screen? it almost looks like a dead pixel, but it is most certainly dust. Its on the right side upper part of the screen. Thinking about exchanging it because its super annoying (although i could just be ocding, lol) If this is a widespread problem though i may not bother, just to get another with even more dust under it,although i have not seen any other threads on it in the desire HD section.
It appears as the original desires had a big problem with LOTS of dust under the screen, specially by the volume rocker. Sounds like a screen sealing problem, which HTC had a really hard time with the EVOs too. The screen actually lifted up on the bottom due to no glue on the bottom part of the screen.
Get an exchange and be done with it.

Add me to the list aswell there were tiny specks I could tolerate and only seen under direct sunlight with screen off but one huge speck that kept annoying me completely, visible in any lighting...Costco agreed with me also and got a new one replaced heck they replaced the entire package even the extra accessories they included..really happy now! thank you Costco.

I have dust under my screen also
I suspect the charger and headphone ports are the culprits.
Bugs me to no end.
This was a problem that plagued my CDMA Hero as well. Sprint Service center saw me once a month or so to get it cleaned, Will AT&T just swap it under warranty? So far I'm dust free.
Finally after three replacement I have a dust free screen. Bought mine at BestBuy mobile. They were pretty cool about it.
I noticed dust in the top corners under my screen today too, but I can't for the life of me see it now - the lighting must need to be perfect.
i have dust under my screen now after about 3 weeks of use. it did NOT when i bought it because im anal and i looked very closley. to be honest, a less anal person might not even notice the 5 tiny specs of dust that i see under the screen.
has anyone swapped due to dust issues and got a unit that does NOT get dust under the screen at all? and im aksing this of the people who are turely anal about. ive handed my phone to 3 different people and asked them if they could see the dust, and they could not, then i gave it to my dad (more retentive than me even) and he spotted each spec of dust.
baiscally, im trying to decide if its worth swapping, then going through rooting and getting my phone just how i want it again, only to get dust int he next phone. if its going to happen to every inspire, then i wont bother.

If you find a good friendly place in austin, let me know. I've got a bit of screen raise that I'm debating whether or not to use my warranty. Don't go to the at&t store in lakeline mall, they weren't helpful at all!

well i got mine inside of a target, i can return for any reason within 30 days. im just trying to find out if its even possible to get a unit that WILL NOT get ANY dust inside of it. if all of them are going to get dust under the screen, then theres no need to go through the hassle

I bought the asus tf101-1a on black friday. I noticed dust was settling in on the bottom on the screen and returned it and had to go thru hell just to get them to exchange for a tf101-a1. Now after 2 hours of having it,big build up of dust on the bottom right and a dead pixel and i just opened it up!! Am i wrong to go back to bestbuy and explain my case and get yet another replacement?

We've all heard the old saying "The customer is always right." Sadly, that's not always the case. I agree you deserve a unit you are satified with, no doubt. But consider the possibly the "perfect" tab doesn't exist? Not saying you should not pursue a return, mind you but I recall a few months back when Some people were complaining of light bleed. How did they see the light bleed? Went into a room completely dark, turned down their screens then looked. Now, how many users actually DO this in normal use? I guess I'm saying only you can decide what is "acceptable" or "not acceptable". Also, keep in mind BB has a "Frequent Return Policy" where they track and ban returns from chronic return-ers. Just sayin'
IMO the dead pixel would be more an issue than dust but then I can't see what you see!
Good luck!
Well i just opened the tf and the dead pixel was right there. Ive nver returned anything from there,it looks like black dots on the screen where the dust is. The purpose of a tablet is the size and resolution and difference from a android phone. I love the tablet, but nowhere do i read others having this issue. Wether i paid $249 or $399, i feel i deserve to have a tablet experience without the non sense. Thanks for your advice

Of course return it. If it is a dead pixel...Asus QA is doing something wrong. The fact that you have dust could lead to more dust. Once the warranty is over, you'll have to pay out of your pocket to fix it, if there is such a problem.
Yes there is,i exchanged the product and got home at 930ish and opened it up and immeditately i saw it. Then i turned it on and bam a dead pixels. One dead pixel without use of the tablet means fauty lcd and heavy dust only means more dust as u said (htc sensation days). Hell as i type the power button is rattling.

Dust under the glass is extremely irritating! Luckily, its super simple for us to clean the back side of the glass as the Transformer has two extremely accessible hex screws near the charging port. Remove them, and you can easily take the glass out and clean it (or just blow air through it and seal back up)
I made it about 6 months before I started to notice the dust behind the glass... the rear camera however gets obscured by dust relatively quickly and requires me to take the cover off and clean the backside of the camera lens about once a month.
So, the dust is a simple fix. The dead pixel however, that sucks. I'd return it for that, or have Asus warranty it at this point since Best Buy is probably fresh out of stock..
hopefully you get it sorted out. The Transformer is a great device! I love mine!
Its the tf101-a1 model and i didnt know its simple to disassemble, thank u. But what are the odds of geting a worse case of dust by doing this procedure?

basically removing the screws by the connector will allow you to remove the bezel, which will expose the inside. Should be pretty easy from there I think. Just use compressed air
Does opening the transformer up void its warranty?
Cause I wouldn't want to void it over a speck of dust really.

I know this is an older thread, but I just noticed an annoying dust buildup in my TF101, just under the glass (middle part of the screen...) and wondered if I could clean it myself. A Google search provided several links to help crack the tablet open, but none mentioned how to actually remove the glass from the screen. How exactly can this be done, without nuking the digitizer? Any insights would be welcome, thanks.
I have bought Asus TF700T 64GB recently, but found there is one BIG dirt/dust under the screen.
After that I returned to the company, and they exchanged another new unit.
But for the second unit, it's also got dust under screen, this time it's 6pcs small dust under screen, and quite noticeable...
The company ask me to contact Asus personally, as they already help me to exchange it for the first time...
Any idea Asus will change a new unit to me? Or need to wait few weeks to repair/service? (bought less than 1 week)
Anyone know Asus got QC problem? 2 units with dust under screen...
Anyone face the same problem?
Thank you for reading.

Not to sure what Asus will do or how long it will take. But I can say I also have something trapped in between the Gorrila glass and screen , and Now am having an electronic burning smell coming from speaker holes on the back . Have only had it a week. Will try to exchange mine as well
You could probably open it up to get the dust out but it's generally not an advisable thing to do.

Like the previous poster said ,is possible but not advisable as you have high chances to break the glass or screen.I did some repair myself on a few devices and is not easy to remove a glued glass like that (at least i guess is glued as i can't see any other way) and even after repair succed the final result is not like the original. Also if is glued you will need to use a hair dryer or a heat cannon and these tools alone are enogh to cause some serious damage to the screen...is your call buddy, but is better waitting (yeah i know is hard) than break it and loose your money.

I also have this problem of dust between the glass and screen.

The worst is that I noticed that just before leaving on vacation!
I can't believe this ****!
Unacceptable for a 600 euros tablet....
Very disappointed with asus!!

Yes, it's unacceptable... As the price is not cheap.
I think ASUS got QC problem on their tablet. We have spend a lot for the premium quality, but they seems don't care about this...
Just hope ASUS will read this post!
Anyway, I love android~~~
Dust under mine as well. At first I thought it was a dead pixel, but its a nice black dot that sits slightly above the lcd so I guess its dust. At least its not in the center. Mine may be going back for other reasons anyway. Wonder if the next one will be worse...
Hi all,
It seems Asus has some serious quality issues. The first TF700T I got had one dead pixel, few dots of dust under the screen and dock didn't fit. The second had three dead pixels and clicking sound on the left side of the screen (while pressing back & home buttons, really irritating!). The third one is almost perfect, but has two little dots of dust in the left upper & lower corner - I thought these are dead pixels, but they don't disapper while the screen is off, so I guess it is dust or some other thing between glass and LCD screen. I think I will stick with that one, as dock is working, no annoying clicking and no dead pixels. If you use your tablet you will get a lot of dust on the screen very quickly, so I won't bother so much about dust or dead pixels. Anway I'm little disappointed with the quality of Asus tablets. Below you can see how it looks like. The screen is off, red arrow indicates dust dot under the screen, other white dots is regular dust on the screen (which you will get anyway after 1-2 minutes of usage!).

Sorry mate but i'm not fully agree with you, imo you should replace that... I also "closed an eye" on the "clicking issue" and some other cosmetic defects but for no reason i would accept your issue. The screen is maybe the best and most expensive part of this tablet so yes, when you buy it the screen should be crystal clear, think about lt.
Also is not true that after some time you will get dust under the screen for sure, not with a good quality device.

Hi, I get your point, but how many times should I replace my device so I can finally play with it ? Some people replaced it 5-6 times and at the end they got device with worse issues. I think this two small dots are acceptable because you will get dust on your screen very quickly (not under the screen, but on top of it) and the visual effect is the same. After few minutes I stopped noticing it. So sure, I can replace it once again, but I'm simply afraid I will get more faulty device and I'm also tired of sending it to the store once again. It has been almost two weeks I paid for this device and I still didn't have an opportunity to play with it, so I think I won't risk replacing it again
PS. I also forgot to mention really bad light bleed that was present in the first two tabs, this one also has it, but on acceptable level. Anyway it is really annoying you need to be lucky to get fault-free tablet.

If your glass is raised you need to return your unit for a new a one. This is a known issue and could eventually lead to a cracked screen.

Take it back and exchange for another. You got a lemon. Asus is not known for their quality control.
About an inch in after the border of the tablet (left, top and bottom) there's a streak of some sort developing (about 1/4 inch thick) I noticed it when I started paying more attention to keeping my screen clean. Initially I thought it was a smudge from swiping the screen up and down but it won't go away after using a microfiber cloth, though it's hardly noticeable after cleaning . Then I began to think it was my folding cover for it since the line matches up sort of but then there should be one forming on the right side too (there isn't) and the streak goes about 2 inches past where the stitchlines go so it cant be that. It shows up when I fog my screen up, or after my screen gets a bit dirty.
Anyone notice this on their screens? I'm thinking it's heat induced from the tablet itself but I have no basis for that claim. It's sort of starting to bug me...

A good splash.
Just kidding. The advice to just use a damp cloth with a little bit of detergent is sound, though. No surface is perfectly smooth, so you could have some external buildup pf grease. I do hope it is external, though. :fingers-crossed:

That's probably fluid from the LCD (inside the LCD). Nothing to worry about. You can see it more clearly when on a light background.
I've tried with water and moved my way up to windex / diluted alcohol in the past to no avail.

looking at my screen more closely I realized it is coming off the tablet slightly have to cause a problem with enough to cause this streaking which I believe from the person above said LCD liquid in between the screen and lcd crystals and that's what my streaking happened. these places Bend really easy and it will cause the screen to slightly come off of its place which has happened to mine also the power Slot binge easily where you slide the power USB cable and this is a known issue. If you slide your finger around the bezel you will feel the screen slightly raised more on one side then the other.
