Random Reboots - Jelly Bean or Hardware Problem? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First thank you for reading my long post. Any help would be appreciated.
I have random reboots issue,
I updated to Jelly Bean the first day my tablet arrived, so i do not know if this is because of Jelly Bean or hardware problem. I need to know the cause so i can decide whether return it and get a replacement or not.
Sometimes it does not reboot at all, but sometimes (or usually i'd say) it reboots a lot, like every 2 minutes. Sometimes it reboots every 30 minutes. Well it's just random.
After doing factory resets and cold boots with no luck, I figured out why it reboots: If it's doing something "heavy" (like loading a webpage, syncing emails, loading games, installing apps,...) and I touch the screen many times (say 5 times) while it's doing these "heavy" things it will reboot.
Why do i need to touch the screen many times while it's loading,... Because for example: you load a webpage, while loading you scroll down to see the content of the webpage, but because the browser is slow, you feel like you need to touch again, and that causes it to reboot automatically. I also do another test: It was installing Amazon Appstore, while installing, i touch the screen many times, and the reboot happened.
Factory resets or cold boots will not help. it's just like that, i think it's supposed to force close or something, but it doesn't, it just reboots. I tried to treat it "gently" (i wait until the loading is finished, then i scroll down webpage,... and i don't touch the screen when it's loading), it did not reboot. But sometimes it do what i expect too (show force close, wait message).
Is this a jelly bean problem or hardware problem? Can anyone test this? Should I return my tablet and get a replacement? (I guess if i get a replacement i won't install JB, that would be safer lol)

Agree with the above. Replace it asap. I cant remember my tablet ever rebooting

ok since yesterday it "only" rebooted 4 times, probably because i "treated gently" most of the time, and of course the times it rebooted were the times i touched the screen a lot.
so i'm returning it. now there's a question in my head: should i return it and get a refund, then buy another tablet, (or maybe wait until another tablet come out) or just get a replacement? i'm just thinking this is a $400 tablet, is it too expensive NOW? (looks like everything in tech is getting cheaper lol [like the nexus 7 or kindle fire hd, maybe ipad mini too])

[Q] Continual crashes and lockups - defective tablet?

Hi All. I bought a g-tablet yesterday and have had problems right from the start. I have issues with crashes which take one of two forms:
1) The application I'm using (browser, game, weather, settings whatever) will randomly quit to the home page with no error message or popup. (i.e. not a force close)
2) The whole screen will freeze and the tablet ignores all button presses apart from the power button. If I press it once the tablet then reboots.
I've tried installing CWM, repartitioning as described in the sticky, wiping data, wiping cache, restoring to factory settings and installing Vegan tab. Before I take it back to the shop, can anyone think of anything else I can try?
Thanks
Use
When and where are you using your tablet? I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with static and the Dock port causing issues.... I was sitting on my couch one night watching a movie with a polar fleece blanket. I was moving to get into a comfortable position and I heard static sounds and my tab exited the video and froze. After reboot it was fine, but I was thinking this could be the same issue you are having??
Just used it in my hotel room so far, no chance of a static shock. It wouldn't even work long enough for me to type thus reply so think I'll take it back!
hmmm
Sounds like you have a bad unit.. let us know what happens.

[Q] Random Reboots and ICS

I just got a Xoom and have been getting constant random reboots. I can't repeat exactly what is causing it; it seems to be mostly random - e.g. web browsing, reading a PDF, browsing the market, etc. I've tried to do a factory hard reset twice already, but still get the random rebooting. Sometimes it will do a full reboot where I see the Motorola logo and other times it will sort of do a half-reboot and I only see the boot animation video and not the Motorola logo. I'm not quite sure what else to try
From what I personally understand and have experienced from several ICS roms including the stock one, as well as on my DINC, so i think this might be a common issue with ICS.
Personally I think it has to do with the rendering system being unstable and creating a loop in the program as it mainly seems to happen when the device is trying to render something. Such as new content on a webpage, new page in a PDF, transition effects, etc.
Certain applications seem to do it more often than others though, so I am not sure about this until I log the activity during these events.
The two types of reboots you are getting are a hard reset and soft reset
A hard reset completely turns off the device then turns it back up, showing you the Motorola symbol.
A soft reset only restarts the android framework, reloading files the operating system uses.
Unfortunately I personally do not know how to stop these at the moment, I just wanted to let people know this is not a singular case. Ill be looking for a fix as well and if I find one I will make sure you know about it DarkMuck
I've just upgraded my Xoom from HC 3.2 which never rebooted.
Rooted, flash CWM, and then loaded the latest ICS #45 with GAPPS.
Since then i have noticed that when i disable Wifi and go onto 3G, i get random reboots. If i leave Wifi on, so far i haven't experienced a reboot.
More specifically when on 3G when the phone goes to sleep after 1Min, it will then do the random reboot.
Are you running 3G or wifi ?
This is on a MZ601 in Australia..

Apps Close Frequently

I've recently been having all apps on my phone close frequently. No error messages or anything, just close back to the home app (which happens to be repopulating widgets and such suggesting that it was closed too). For the life of me I can't figure out what is wrong. Once I see it happens I know my phone is unusable except for the basics until I reset it. At first it was mildly annoying, but it has been happening faster and faster after each reset. First a reset grabbed me a few days, now only about 4 hours. I tried a factory reset but it was only mildly better. Finally in desperation I tried using mattlgroff's "DROID RAZR HD Utility" to reflash stock, but that only bought me a week and a half.
Does anyone know what might have caused this? The only significant mod I made to my phone was rooting it while it was new to use Titanium, then I unrooted it and it was fine for several months after. I can't think of anything I had done outside my normal use before it started. I tried looking at logcat but I wasn't very good at sorting though it. Found the lines stating the apps were closed/services were restarting, but nothing else looked abnormal to me.
Sounds like a hardware issue.
Try a safe boot
Power up
At the appearance of the bootlogo, big m or warning, press & hold the vol down all the way home.

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Browser Dies - Hardware/Debugging Help Needed

For the past few months now my wife's Tab 2 has been misbehaving, it is consistently crashing with certain apps (mainstream ones, not random junk) most noticeably the stock browser (making that unusable) - the browser starts and displays the menu and tab bar, but does not display any webpage or url and then will crash within 5 seconds without doing anything, thus returning to the home screen. Similar behaviour is seen when using the Google search widget, I type in a word, press the magnifying glass to search it pauses a long time then closes and goes back to the home screen.
Lots of apps work absolutely fine but about 30% don't, and it is pretty consistent if the work they always work, if they don't work they usually crash at the same point. I did wonder if it was a certain function or driver that triggers the crash or possibly more likely there is a hardware failure.
The tablet is completely stock and up to date. I have tried doing a factory reset and restored everything, that didn't work. I tried a factory reset and restored nothing (setting up no accounts not even a Google one and installed nothing) but still I get the same behaviour. I have tried wiping the cache partition as recommended on many websites (http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-8015). I have also tried running the Internet in Safe Mode, all with the same result of the app closing and going back to the home screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions or even something different to try?
(Ideally I didn't want to root it or use a custom ROM, but I may have to try this if nothing else can be suggested, I have my doubts whether this would fix it.)
I reported this issue to Samsung 21 days out of warranty and they want me to send it to the repair centre to get a quote whilst re-iterating that it was out of warranty.
I can't remember how or where from but I followed some instructions to log what was happening, please find that attached. A quick search for "died" will show where the issue occurs.
Thanks for reading, I hope someone can help as my wife has all but given up on using the tablet.
Thanks
Craig

Anyone know if this is likely to be a hardware issue?
I'm currently charging it up ready to flash with CM12.1, always wanted to try it and it can't do much harm now and may even fix it!
Thanks for looking anyway.
Here's a tip, go with CM11 snapshot, cm12 is buggy and when you least expect it you get stuck with a bootloop. And drop the native browser and use Chrome.
This tab 2 isn't up to cm12, I was running CM11 for over a year with no issues whatsoever and speed and processor speed equal to my son's Nexus 10.
I t tried CM12 and after 2 weeks it went haywire, I'm not a flashaholic, I use my tab for Internet browsing, youtube and play one game Plants vs Zombies.
I get great battery life and everything works the way it's supposed to.
This a typical screen shot of my tablet in sleep mode.

freezes and reboots (Note edge G)

Hi everyone, few days ago i got some problems with my phone.
When i am doing smth, for example chatting in whatsapp(it can be any app, even the menu) , the screen may freeze from 5 to 20 sec. After it, the device may become locked or not. Also, after it, device may reboot. Or just shutdown.
I already tried :
1 wipes (full via phone menu and recovery)
2 formatting flash via custom recovery
3 flashing 5.1 via odin
4 emergency restore via Smart Switch
But the problem is still here.
Is this a hardware problem, or should i try smth else?
Thanx for advice
I'm starting to wonder about hardware issues myself.
I'm getting the feeling that Samsung wound the processor too tight on these phones.
Once I get rooted again,I'm planning a proc' downclock to 2.3/2.4 Ghz.
I'm not totally sure, but if these proc's control the RAM directly, that might help with stabilty issues.
Just to confirm; you did a factory restore and also flashed the stock 5.1.1 for your model and region with Odin 3.10.7?
Sent from my SM-N915G using Tapatalk
yes, exactly. Not sure with odin version, but everything was fine.
Yesterday also tried River rom with Mickey Kernel. First few hours phone worked normally, but was a little bit slow (it is normal for this kernel). But then the problem returned, i got some (2 or 3 ) reboots and lots of freezes.
weird. I started gettig these issues a couple of weeks ago too. Did as you did, Odin, Smart Switch, TWRP. Nothing. On RiverRom it seems to be more stable than on the official Rom. Which is crazy. Searched through all the logs, only idea i got left is keeping in under android logcat on my computer until it crashes.
Also phone won't restart if I want to do that. Not from menu, not from TWRP. It will just not do it. It shuts down and no matter how much I press the power button.... nothing. Hve to take out the battery, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and it will start.
Any advices on what logs should be looking at would be much appreciated.

I just tried to restart my, it booted normally.
Maybe its overheating or smth like this? It will be difficult to demonstrate this problem in service centre
honestly i don't think it's overheating. For me the behavior is a bit weirder, as said, as the phone won't restart, unless removing the battery and waiting for a minute or two before plugging it back in. Every. Single. Time. Not even rebooting from recovery.
I use now riverrom with the emotion kernel (they launched this year a new version of the kernel) and it seems to be better. Weirdly enough, the system gets slower when i turn on GPS (although i have next to nothing appls installed), and the apps that say they stopped responding are the boring ones. System UI, Google Play, etc. Also downloading the kernel auditor from the guys at emotion and enabling logcat seems to help too.
An error i seem to get constantly now is google play services error.
Bluetooth also seems to be an issue, i also have a android watch and it gets kinda weird behavior.
