Atrix 2 has a locked bootloader mate. No flashing radios/kernels or anything of the sort with a locked down bootloader. Impossible to do.
Welcome to Motorola. :silly:
Ok, thanks for the answer. Wish that when we receive the OTA ICS they fix the radio or unlocked the bootloader.

Yeah unfortunately, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Not doable sir, even using moto-fasboot flash radio radio.img" adb command??
Thanks
Guys you can flash a radio image with moto-fastboot just fine, but I will tell you that you can ONLY use the radio images that come with the fxz, you will ONLY flash the radio file from there. You unfortunately do not have too may choices though, only the radio from 2.3.5, or 2.3.6, or 4.04 since those are the ONLY FXZs that we have. What you can not do is make your own radio files and flash them, like on other phones. If you are in another part of the world with a US AT&T phone and you flash another region's radio files, your phone will likely have no signal, so be careful to ONLY use radios meant for your version and region.

One question, is it doable if i flash radio.img from other atrix2 phone that working well on signal?
I'll try to backup the radio from other phone with good signal then take out to my phone with fastboot.
Thanks again...

No, that will likely cause a bootloop/softbrick. You must use official radio.img files as they are signed by moto. You can find out what firmware the other a2 is running and try and download that fxz and flash just that radio.img file so that it is the same as the other atrix2. No guarantees if that phone is a different version say international vs ATT, though.
i flashed radio of indian A2 ICS on ATT hardware .....
but didnt find any improvement in signal (which was affecting my 4G->Edge shifting in auto mode)
Sir, the other phone i'd already ota upgrade to ics stock. 6.7.2-226-EDICS-8

Hope someone still reads this thread. I have an Atrix 2 but I think the last owner try a lot of times a wrong unlock code, I got the correct code but it didnt work, a solution for this kind of problem in a Atrix 1 was to reflash the radio.
Where can I get the official radio files for this device? maybe can post the step by step guide to do that?
Im on official ICS.
Thanks for the help.

fist you need to go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092 download moto fastboot win 32 (the one at the very bottom) unzip it to the root of your hard drive ( C:/ ) then put the attached radio image inside that folder, power off your phone and turn it on by pressing power button and vol down keys, this will take you into fastboot, plug your phone to your pc, open a comand prompt inside moto-fastboot folder (right click while holding shift) and type
moto-fastboot flash radio radio.img
this will take like 2 secs then type exit, unplug your phone, pull battery, turn it on normally, there will be a dead android with a triangle comming out of his chest, press power button and it will power on normally
remember to have updated motorola drvers installed (google arround on a how to) , and use one of the back panel usb ports

Ok so when we fxz does it reflash radio.img thru rsd light or do we have to tell it thru fast boot commands. I get random reboots when it says that the radio has no signal. Lol. Driving me nuts. After it gets. Done booting it will be fine as long as it says radio is working. But it will reboot until it does.

You don't really, I would go look in the section for whatever rom you flashed. I'm assuming you did rc mix, and then flash a radio from someone who has that same rom and isn't having any problems with it. Thats your best bet.
I'm running Leedroid right now. Does have the best radio for ATT in the US?

Sure, but you will understand it better if you read it your self. Basically flashing a radio can do a few things, one being to enable HSUPA, this can also be accomplished just by flashing certain roms. Also it helps with WIFI, calling(signal, speed etc) problems in some cases. This is all going to depend on which rom you have, the area, the cell provider(i'm assuming your all on ATT like me) and also it varies. I ran the "telus" radio for a long time with RC mix, but with the latest builds of the rom started having problems with the call not connecting when i pressed "call" and failing. I have since switched to the Cyanogen mod rom and am on the latest radio which is listed in my sig. This has improved call quality, battery life(from the rom and radio as a combo), and also call reliability(no dropped calls, calls failing etc) Hope that helps you guys
Is there away to go back to the stock radio if something goes wrong?
If you don't have problems with the stock radio then just stick with it. There's more risk than reward when flashing radio.

Yeah I have to agree. If you mess up somehow while flashing the radio, your phone will become a paper weight. If its not giving you problems, then no need to flash the radio.

Flashing the radio does not enable HSUPA on the Inspire 4G. From what I know, the Captivate requires to flash a different radio to enable HSUPA.
Editing the build.prop enables HSUPA.
modified from Kirk's old post
1. Download this file http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BX5GV1CJ
this is a zip file containing two files. one is radio.img from ATT stock radio, dont touch the other file.
you need to remove this img file and replace with the Gingerbread radio.img
from here http://www.multiupload.com/BE0V4H8QQY
extract the radio.img and zip into the PD98IMG.zip with the other file already in the PD981img.zip. (two files)
2. Place the PD98IMG.zip radio file on the root of your SD card.
3. Power the phone off, remove and reinsert the battery.
4. Hold the volume button down and press power on.
5. The phone will boot into Hboot then Bootloader, It should see the PD98IMG.zip and ask if you want to apply the zip.
6. Use the volume up button to select "yes"
7. Once its done flashing, reboot the phone and you should have flashed the radio.
I hope I get some credit from my post. Lol

your method can flash any radio
I've seen devs mention to flash a radio from Hboot and Fast boot before. Are these terms synonymous? Fast boot is accessed from Hboot correct? I've flashed a radio a few times, but never understood the terminology. A PD98IMG is always flashed the same way from what I understand.
More or less correct. HBoot flashing is done with the PD98IMG.zip on the SDcard. PD98IMG.zip can contain any number of images to be flashed. Fastboot flashing is done using the fastboot.exe and can flash a single image.

I've never quite understood what the advantage is to fastboot flashing. Then again, I've never truly understood fastboot in general.
Something I definitely need to do more reading on.
I've tried several times, and several methods to flash my radio to the 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 radio img. And nothing seems to be working. My best guess is its user error. I'm a noob and trying to learn how to flash my radio. I currently have the 12.39.30.19P-26.06.04_M with the TPGB-Ninja_0618 ROM and [email protected] #28 kernel.
I've done the method where i go into adb to access bootloader, then i flash the radio.img then reboot the phone and that doesnt work. I've tried running the radio.img though CWM and that didn't work.
If I power off my phone and then hold power and -vol down to get into the bootloader it automatically will go into hboot and start to run through the PD98IMG.zip. I'm wondering.
Do I need that .zip folder on my sdcard forever or can I get rid of it?
Also, can I just switch out radio.img in the PD98IMG.zip with the new radio.img?
Can I do the above question without having all the other .img 's in the .zip folder?
I've done some research, but haven't found my answers, or was able to fix my problem.
So hopefully someone can help me.
Please be gentle with me, I'm new to this type of thing, but a fast learner.
Thanks in advance

Assuming the PD98IMG.zip containing the radio flashes properly, you can remove it afterwards.
Have you checked out the inspire only radio thread in the dev section, yet?
There's already a ready-to-flash PD98IMG.zip for the radio you want to flash on that thread.
Download it from that thread, verify the MD5 checksum, plop it in the root directory of your SD card, reboot into hboot/bootloader, once it finds the PD98IMG.zip, confirm the update, and away you go.
Ok I'll try that as soon as I get to my computer. Thanks for the reply and I'll let you know how it goes.

Just don't forget to check that MD5. I have had incomplete (meaning...BAD) radio downloads on a solid WiFi connection, so it DOES happen from time to time.

Couple of things. 1) Be sure to give the radio long enough to "warm up"...I'ave had it take several hours after flashing before I started getting decent speeds from a radio I know works. 2) It is usually recommended to keep a copy of your radio flash on your SD card in case you need it (GPS fail, etc., ) so you can reflash if you are away from a PC, but not keep it in the root of your SD. It's very possible to end up in a continuous boot loop until you somehow either get the file off your root (SD card reader) or fool the phone into thinking it isn't there by pulling the SD card when you pull the battery to recover (I've only heard the last trick works)...

You've also made sure you have the appropriate RIL for the new radio you flashed, correct? That radio thread also has the RILs + info about them, as well.
Also try rebooting more than once after flashing a radio/ril, just for good measure.
When I first flashed the 04_11_M2 radio, I had only rebooted once, as a result of the flashing process. Once my phone was done loading up, I received my first call with it, the caller couldn't hear me, but I could hear them. Caller tried calling back. Same thing. I decided to give it another flash and reboot. I called that person back, and it was working, never experienced that since.
Coincidence? Who knows? But radios are weird, quirky things that seem to need a little "voodoo" type flashing/rebooting to kick them in, I suspect.
Well I think I found out why I'm getting these speeds. My radio has a "P" and not a "U" like in meiguoguizi's sig. I have the same radio as that (number wise) but he has a "U" and not a "P".
The radios that I can flash have an "x" in that place so won't that just mean it will switch to whatever letter my data is running on?
I think I found out why I am having this problem.
I can flash the radio.
I can flash the RIL.
But I have a "P" where the "U" is supposed to be to represent the HSUPA speeds.
If thats the the reason then I don't know.

I think that U/P thing is determined by one of the settings in the build.prop file. I know it's been discussed before, I just don't recall the details. If you visit the "editing the build.prop file" thread in the dev section, or possibly amongst the comments in the inspire radio thread, I think you might find the specifics in one of those places.
Or browse through henrybravo's posts, I think I remember him explaining it to someone.
Bottom line is that you have the same radio, it's just a setting that's determining the connection type and as a result, that letter changes, depending on that setting.

First, try another re-flash of the radio.
I did a full wipe and restore and got all the sounds back. Reloaded the RIL and everything works fine.

You will need these two files:
-Moto-fastboot
-AT&T 2.3.5 fxz
Once you have the fxz downloaded, unzip/extract it somewhere you can remember. Extract moto-fastboot into the extracted fxz. Hold SHIFT and right-click somewhere in the explorer window, and choose "open command window here." Turn your phone off, reboot into fastboot mode (hold power+volume down for a couple seconds), and plug it into your computer. Now on your computer, type in
Code:
moto-fastboot flash radio radio.img
and hit <enter>. After a couple seconds it should say "success" or "complete" or something and you can disconnect your phone and reboot.
Hope this helps!

Nope... the reason for you to download the fxz is because it contains a separate file for the baseband. If you only flash that .img then you can be on 2.3.6 with the 2.3.5 radio.

You don't need to send fastboot commands you just load PG06IMG.zip on the root of your sdcard and boot into bootloader.

Fastboot Flash . Why didn't you just.... NVM . Glad you got it.
the problem was. i could not confirm i wanted to apply the update. when you place it on the SD card. boot into the bootloader it reads the PG06IMG.zip, but it asks do you want to do this update. volume up for yes. i could not do a volume up for the yes part.
Is your volume button broken ?
That would drive me nuts! If that happened to me I would ruu and send the phone in...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
yes, broken on the board. so it blows trying to use the phone... the ****tards at sprint where suppose to call me over a week ago with a new replacement phone. still no call. i am about to go to another sprint store and have them give me a new phone...
You could try calling Sprint directly over the phone. Sometimes ( Not always ) you get better results that way.
Okay so i was having wifi issues on Trickdroid 7.0.0 TMOUS.. so i did a little searching and what not and found out i had to flash 2.3.5 parts/radio to get it working. before hand i was getting full bars/4g. After i flashed both 2.3.5 extra partitions, and the 2.3.5 radio i reboot to find out my wifi finally works, then i notice i have no signal.. i tried rebooting, etc didnt work. tried restoring the backup i made through clockwork before i flashed the radio; didnt work. tried taking out my SIM card and putting it back in, didnt work. ive tried flashing miui, trickdroid 8.x.x, a nandroid posted from stock 2.3.5, nothing will bring back my signal. so i thought maybe my SIM card is messed up, i put it in my backup go phone and i get full bars.
also, i tried RUU both 1.5.x and 1.8.x and both give me RUU error 155 after its done "sending files"..
any help would be awesome. could i flash a older radio or something??
edit: im on hboot 1.09 btw
Okay looks like no one knows how to fix this?
tried flashing a older radio and no go, and just flashed RUU 1.84 and no go as well. i flashed the international trickdroid and upon first boot i had signal (no 4g) and i was able to send a text to myself and received it. then i restarted my phone and.. gone that was before i flashed the RUU.

NOTE : always do a backup and a nandroid backup before trying any of these.
OTA update:
A) ROM is stock, bootloader unlocked, stock recovery and not rooted.
- just run the OTA update, there is no need to relock the bootloader
B) ROM is stock, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery and not rooted.
- flash the stock recovery that comes with your RUU, extract the RUU for the stock recovery.
* boot to bootloader
* fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
* fastboot reboot-bootloader
* fastboot erase cache
* fastboot reboot
- run the OTA update
C) ROM is stock, bootloader unlocked, stock recovery and rooted
- download OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store
- run the OTA Rootkeeper and click protect root
- run the OTA update, there is no need to relock bootloader
- Once done, run OTA Rootkeeper and click restore root
D) ROM is stock, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery and rooted
- download OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store
- run the OTA Rootkeeper and click protect root
- no need to relock bootloader
- boot to bootloader and fastboot flash the stock recovery
- run the OTA update
- Once done, run OTA Rootkeeper and click restore root
E) ROM is custom, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery and rooted and you have a stock nandroid backup
- flash the stock boot.img if after nandroid restore, you have a bootloop
- flash the stock recovery.img
- relock the bootloader - fastboot oem lock
- boot your device and run the OTA update
F) ROM is custom, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery and rooted and you don't have a stock nandroid backup
- if you dont have the stock nandroid backup, you need to run RUU
- before you can run the RUU you need to:
* flash the stock recovery.img
* flash the stock boot.img (maybe no need)
* relock the bootloader - fastboot oem lock
* run RUU
- run device setup
- run the OTA update
Flashing RUU to revert to stock or to update your One S after you have a custom ROM installed.
- you must have the correct RUU for your device.
- if you are not sure, download CID Getter from Play Store and run it, it will show your CID.
- with your CID, you may be able to find a correct RUU for your device
then (even though some people may not agree with this, but this will bring no harm and it is noob-proof) do this:
1- flash a stock recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
2- flash a stock boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
3- re-lock bootloader
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
4- flash RUU
Note : for people with ERROR 155 UNKNOWN ERROR they need to go into HBOOT and select FASTBOOT and run the RUU to revert to stock (thanks Lloir)
And usually:
Error 155 - usually wrong recovery.img /wrong boot.img / unlocked bootloader
Error 140 - wrong bootloader / bootloader unlocked
Error 131 - wrong RUU for your device
Credit to all XDA members that posted all the guides in various forum thread and some from own experience which I compiled here for easy reference.

So can you post the link to where you got the "2.3.5 extra partitions" and the radio from. And how did you flash them on your phone?

Oh i see 1.09 now. I understand why the updated adsp wcnss would fix your wifi but I can't really figure out what broke your radio. You flashed a bunch of different roms so you ruled that out. I would go ahead and try flashing the 2.35 radio again and see if that helps. If not flash an older radio and see.
I know how to undo all the changes you made but lets see what a new radio flash does first. Don't just flash the one you have but re-download it fresh and flash with that.

Since it just happened after you flashed new stuff that leads me to believe that was the cause. I'm pretty sure I know how to fix. But if it were me I'd start with re-flashing the radio.
I just installed the OTA 2.3.5 update over 1.84 RUU and still no go, im going to try to install the radio through recovery and see if that fixes it.
edit: well that was dumb.. now i have the updated hboot :l

Sorry to hear that! I didn't expect you to try that route. However, it should have resolved your issue the OTA would have overwritten everything you did. You couldn't get a cell signal after the RUU or OTA?

You can't reinstall the radio, those days are over for you. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You're stuck with 2.x RUU's only from now on to change radios.
Since your in this spot you might try the latest CM10 nightly they have implemented the radio firmware into the rom itself. That might allow you to sidestep your problem. Also check under about -> phone and see if your imei matches whats on the box that came with the phone.
Okay, i now know its not blacklisted. I just unlocked it with the unlock .exe and put a extra AT&T SIM card laying around and put in the AT&T APN and everything and still says "disconnected because service is unavailable". sooooo, thats good news! i guess..
im going to try to flash a nightly and see if that works. my brother just told me they are probably working on the 4g towers here and maybe thats why it isnt working on this phone and a few other people.. that would be cool, but frustrating that ive done all this.
edit: with the at&t SIM card it just says "no service" in the notifications bar. With the T-Mobile SIM card it says "Emergency calls only". weird
edit2: Still doesnt work with cyanogenmod 10.

im suck in the same place man i hope someone finds out
Yeah I thought today it might be fixed but its not. It finally finds T-Mobile if I search for it but it won't connect to it. It won't connect to att either when I put my att sim in. So I think its the phone having issues.. I've been seeing a lot of other people having them as well.
When I select any network or even automatic registration it says "can't connect right now. Try again later."
I uploaded two screen shots. It won't even let me call T-Mobile..

Can you check under about -> phone and see if your imei matches whats on the box that came with the phone. If you do can you give me the first 4 or 5 digits

I don't have the box, and the sticker on the back is mostly worn since I used the phone for a while without the sim cover (I bought it new without it). but I just looked in my google dashboard, and typed *#06# and it matched and I can see the last three digits on the sticker clearly and they match with both as well. the first 5 digits are: 35990
thanks.

I didn't get it from tmobile either, I bought it new from somebody. had the stickers and everything on it. I swear, every HTC phone I have ever had, has had at least 1 major issue. well, the g1 didn't.
edit: even people on the one v are having the issues:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679461 serious HTC wtf
