Finally I bought it! - Asus Transformer TF700

Finally I bought the TF700. It's a WW version C6 serial, bought in Italy.
Apparently It's perfect, I've no issues like buttons that don't work or glass..
For me It's incredibly fast, I installed also Nova Launcher (I become from TF201 and its old problems now seems to be solved).
But I don't know If I've a light bleed issue because I've never seen a tablet with this problem. How can I see if screen has some problem?

When you are first turning on your device.... look around the edge of your screen and all 4 corners for light bleeding out.

While I'm watching the Asus boot logo?

Yes... the background would be all black so it will be easier to spot lighter spots around the edges of the screen

So, who has -not- had problems with their Transformer?

I bought a Transformer yesterday, and I have some pretty severe backlight bleed. I'm either going to exchange or return it tonight.
I understand that people with problems with their device will be much more vocal than people who haven't run into any issues, but the number of posts I've seen talking about display or speaker issues is kind of worrying me, especially when I can go to the Thrive forum and see zero or near zero topics about hardware issues. Does anyone here have a Transformer with no problems? Or do they all have some issue and should I look at a different tablet?

No issues whatsoever with mine, although I haven't actually went looking for light bleed. Certainly, I've not noticed it in normal use, which is the only place it would bother me.

I have small light-bleed but it's only visible on a completely black screen with the brightness turned right up and the lights in the room switched off. That's not my normal use case so it doesn't bother me.
I have my Transformer since 2 months now. The hardware is perfect, there is no Lightbleed, no cracking, no dust under the screen and the speakers are o.k. One little problem is Honeycomb, it is not so good as it could be but its getting better with every update. Rooting was no problem and there are no issues when flashing other roms. Last week i bought the dock and there is also nothing wrong with it.
I am very happy with my new Transformer and dont whant to be without it anymore.

i Have light bleed over the charging port..but that's insignificant ..but my volume rocker JUST got stuck like 20 min ago..already put my RMA with asus..out side of that..it's no issues
Haven't got any problems, though i haven't taken my transformer into a darkroom with a dark jpeg and turned the brightness up to test it!!!!!
A big believer in realism!
My wifi works perfectly
ADW EX works perfectly
Opera Browser works perfectly
But i also don't believe in new automatically equals better, so i haven't installed 3.2.
Wouldn't no about browser typing lag, as i'm the slowest freakin typist ever
I've had no issues with my tablet.
I have just RMAd the dock, as it was a B50 and had the power drain issue, but the tablet on it's own has been great.
very minimal light bleed, but nothing major.
Out of curiosity, hows the ROM dev over with the Thrive? Im wondering if there is more development over there than there is with the TF..
And if so, if having several Roms/mods to play with, keep user more content; So much so, that they overlook minor details..
Maybe were just bored over here in TF world
I have a b60 transformer and keyboard dock and I am very happy with all. I had a small spec of plastic in the screen, flicked screen with my finger and now it has gone and never returned.
Not seen any light bleed and have no problems with build quality.
I only had the creak before, until I learned to look for the light bleed in the dark. It's not that bad, but it feels horrible when you look for it,
Certainly not me ;-) After 5 weeks trying to find a tablet and dock to actually purchase, I bought the only one I could find - a 32 GB version. Why the heck I didn't just give up and wait for the next generation, I'll never know.
Significant light bleed but that doesn't really bother me. But then I discovered the dock battery draining issue with my turned off tablet and that really started to bother me. Then the volume up key on the tablet stopped working and that kind of annoyed me. Then the charger stopped charging both the dock and the tablet and that was end of my using it altogether ... except that somehow the charger started working again on the tablet (and not the dock) so I could use it again. But now it's stopped charging the tablet once again.
I know I have to RMA this ****. Still have to find the receipts and packaging. Maybe I can ship it along with my Asus P8P67 Deluxe motherboard which never worked right from day 1 and has caused me endless grief. Yeah, Asus is pretty much my least favourite company right now...
I love my transformer.
There was some light bleeding at the bottom by the buttons but for some reason the other day it vanished. I have installed the Asus case that has the tapered edge and flap. Maybe the pressure is fixing it.
That with Prime 1.6, the thing is a beast. I'm out of town for work over the next 2 weeks. No reboots or weirdness. I have my PC laptop and my LG G2x setup with wifi sharing so my TF is grabbing internet from one of those devices.
It just works so good I'm afraid to flash it to a 3.2 rom.
I found thumb keyboard better over SwiftKey X and I'm flying. The Office suite allows me to check all my work related documents on the go and has been a lifesaver.

Minor issues...
I have a little bit of light bleed, but it's only noticeable on black backgrounds, with dim ambient light, at certain angles. The speakers aren't as loud as I'd like, but I don't see how speakers that small could be louder. Overall I'm very pleased with mine, especially considering it's what, half as thick as the Thrive?
Not half as thick, but it does feel a lot thinner. It's because Asus designed the tablet to slant from thick (in the center) to thin (in the edge). It's so pretty .
I have problems with the tf, and not only with one unit, because now I am using the third unit (replaced the two previous).
The first was countinually rebooting when suspended (may be software, but used a nandroid of it with the second and no problem)
The second has light bleed and the upper part of the touch screen was bad.
With the third unit has sound balance problem, but I can live with it.
Conclusion
The quality control is bad, but I like this tablet.
Sorry for my english
No issues, I haven't really looked to see if I could find light bleed, but I love this thing
on my second tf
my first one quit charging after 4 days. No keyboard dock.
The one I have now has more light bleed than my first one. That one was a B60, current one is a B50.
No issues to report, although I have not checked on the battery drain issue with the dock (B5O). Still I really like this tablet and use it for work.
No problem here. Running Prime 1.7
Just checked for light leak. took a picture in a black room with brightness all the way up and on the left lower side i noticed it.
been mashing the power and volume buttons all day to see if i can break it(still within 30 days). No issues yet.
b60 purchased last week

B80 problems

i was using my b80 for a few days and compared with my friends b70 i found the following problems
1. the sound in the b80 was not as loud as the b70
2. the screen was yellowish compared to the b70
is it normal in the b80 series or is it a manufacturing defect in my unit alone
Probably a defect. B80 only meant it's build in the month of August. no different in hardware or anything else.
my b80 screen is also yellowish compared to other screens
That's not good!
I know myself and a lot of people purchased the transformer because of the screen (IPS, like the iStuff).
I would suggest calling Asus and seeing what they will do to correct this flaw.
thanks for your support guys i just sent my transformer back to the store to get a B70 replacement he finally agreed after so much arguement
@ricardopvz thanks for the verification
I don't know exactly anymore, but wasn't it that the B80 and higher had a different color setting comparing with the B70 and lower?
^
when i compared my b80 with my friends b70 with some white pictures and videos my white(b80) was like yellowish white where as my friends(b70) was pure white
probably just some default brightness/contrast settings..
I have the same problem with my B80 as well...the screen is yellowish and there's no setting for that.
I bought it from Amazon.
My B50 doesnt have the issue.

Hi there!
First message here, so hello to everyone!
I've noticed the yellowish screen too.. if I use it normally it looks fine to me, but comparing it to my laptop's screen the color is very diferent.. it's something that bothers me, but it's curious how different the xda forums look in my laptop and in my transformer... has somebody contacted
asus?
GUYS i am getting my replacement today \\PRAY ITS A B70//
I'm going where I bought it today and will return or exchange it... After I've noticed this issue, I don't like it anymore.
Anyway, wasn't the B70 also affected? And some B60 it seems too. I'll try to exchange it and see how the new unit looks like. If it's bad too I'll return it and I'll wait for a future batch.. hoping that is fixed.
Too bad I only want a transformer, since all other tablets have something I don't like, and now results the TF has this issue.
When you guys say "yellowish", do you mean the tone is "warm"? This could be an intentional change as a warmed toned screen is often more desirable vs. A "cold", blue tone.
-- Sent from my HP TouchPad using Communities
well.. it may be that, yes, but it just looks strange. The XDA website looks completely different on the TF or in my laptop.

my b40 also has warm color too.

Green Camera Problem

Has anyone else with an Infinity run into the green rear camera problem. I just tried the camera for the first time and have it. It is the exact same problem as i the Prime forum but I am not going to pinch my tablet. In fact I think it is software related. I am able at times to see abstracts of my homescreen (weather widget) within the lines of the distortion, Hardware cannot cause my camera to see what's on the homescreen.
I did, right after my dock and tablet overheated. Sent it right back, thanks warranty. I was also having issues running anything graphics intensive, such as HD games.
So do you all think this is firmware or hardware?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
Hard to say, but this new tablet is doing it off and on, screen tearing too. Good thing I haven't unlocked it yet, because I'm sending this one straight to ASUS this time.
Mine is fine but this is a big problem for primes too. Mine did it once on my prime. And it never did it again.. I think its hardware
Yup its a hardware problem I had a prime and has a camera issues, send it to square trade and they said it's a camera issues or failed, they fixed and sent back to me, after 1 week of used, went to bestbuy and trade to an infinity. So definitely hardware, if I were you ill send it back or return it. Good luck

Problems

I am going to buy this tablet very soon but i heard from some people that there are some problems with it like lines flickering over screen and creaking bezels is this true or is it already fixed?
Both of those issues are still present. Black lines are still there and bezel creaks on every one of the units I have seen.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Yes it is still present but those are actually EXTREMELY minor issues. Every electronic you buy will have something wrong with it. If its not when you buy it then probably later on. Why it is suggested to not unlock your tab for 2-3 months to make sure its working correctly.

Me thinks that you have an issue with the TF700
Oh how dreadful, the case creaks... Have you ever held an sgs3 or a galaxy tab2? Sounds more like a lousy horror flick.
You're obviously no gamer, or you'd know well enough the black lines are a vsync screentearing problem, and they happen with every app not designed to handle the device's higher resolution and refresh rate. Blame the devs, not the device. (face it, no other device has this high resolution, and the one that (nexus) does has people complaining about the same bloody thing.)

Not really - vsync-related screen tearing does not cause black lines and also is only visible with movement (especially horizontal movement). This effect appears on static images.
After a lot of research, my current theory about the black lines is that for some yet unknown reason the display controller is blocked from reading the framebuffer for a short time. Since the DC needs to refresh the panel 60 times per second, it must be able to continuously stream data from the framebuffer RAM to the display.
At 1920*1200 with a pixel clock of 154 MHz, the line rate is about 74 kHz - so shutting off the DC's RAM access for only 1/74000 second would cause a full black scanline.

For what it's worth, here's my anecdotal evidence having owned an Infinity since November:
- No black lines whatsoever. But I do *rarely* get some flickering (the whole screen seems to bounce left and right) that only lasts a split second. Some apps *do* get the occasional graphics glitch, such as non-textured polygons. Overall, it's nothing I ever think about and doesn't detract me from the tablet one bit.
- Don't know what you mean by creaking bezels - all around the screen? Or just the dock connection? I don't have any creaking. The dock connection does feel "looser" than in the beginning, but it never changes position. The tablet is heavy enough that you can easily cause it to tumble backward when docked, but if left alone it never falls back. I prefer the light weight of the tablet+dock to a solution with a heavier dock.
Overall I'm very very happy with this tablet. My only gripe is the office suites aren't perfect MS Office replacements (yet? ). Other than that I've been using it LOCKED and ROOTED on stock 4.2.1 for web browsing, laptop replacement (Word/PDF viewing and editing), gaming and e-book reader without major issues.
As I said in the beginning, this is purely anecdotal since I don't know anyone else who owns this tablet. Hope it helps!

Screen bottom is slightly yellow

My screen is a bit yellowish at the bottom, I've read that this issue affects many units.
I cannot capture it because it is very light, but it is definitely here. I'm asking for a refund and wait to see if newer phones are still affected (my phone has been delivered on 28th December by HTC Club).
Is there any chance to see a uniform display?
Inviato dal mio ZUK Z1 utilizzando Tapatalk
I also have a tiny bit of yellowing, really a bummer. I dunno if it's noticeable enough for me to send it back though, I love everything else about the phone
HTC phones have had this problem since the HTC 10 I'm bummed to read they still haven't sorted the screens out. They always have a horrible pink tint too

No pink tint here that's for sure.
Well, my display was yellowish but I've read that some users has found some purple ghosting effect while scrolling text (I think mine was not affected).
I guess it's quite subjective to find out if a unit exhibits yellowish and/or purple effects, at least if those problems are not very noticeable, so the real question here is if someone has successfully exchanged a defective unit with a good one...

I have no issues with my screen at all, just ran a dead pixel test and cant notice any yellow tint or ghosting with text. Think it is pot luck what you have or not.
But I haven't heard anyone exchange as I'm pretty sure HTC have non spare at the minute to give back to people!

Thanks for your response, probably here in Europe the phone is not so diffused, but in Asia there are some experiences here:

Been using my u11+ for about a month and starting to notice horizontal lines across my screen then has gone away, now comes and goes.
Saw a thread on u11 having this issue too.
