My screen is a bit yellowish at the bottom, I've read that this issue affects many units.
I cannot capture it because it is very light, but it is definitely here. I'm asking for a refund and wait to see if newer phones are still affected (my phone has been delivered on 28th December by HTC Club).
Is there any chance to see a uniform display?

I also have a tiny bit of yellowing, really a bummer. I dunno if it's noticeable enough for me to send it back though, I love everything else about the phone
HTC phones have had this problem since the HTC 10 I'm bummed to read they still haven't sorted the screens out. They always have a horrible pink tint too

No pink tint here that's for sure.
Well, my display was yellowish but I've read that some users has found some purple ghosting effect while scrolling text (I think mine was not affected).
I guess it's quite subjective to find out if a unit exhibits yellowish and/or purple effects, at least if those problems are not very noticeable, so the real question here is if someone has successfully exchanged a defective unit with a good one...

I have no issues with my screen at all, just ran a dead pixel test and cant notice any yellow tint or ghosting with text. Think it is pot luck what you have or not.
But I haven't heard anyone exchange as I'm pretty sure HTC have non spare at the minute to give back to people!

Thanks for your response, probably here in Europe the phone is not so diffused, but in Asia there are some experiences here:

Saw a thread on u11 having this issue too.

Finally I bought the TF700. It's a WW version C6 serial, bought in Italy.
Apparently It's perfect, I've no issues like buttons that don't work or glass..
For me It's incredibly fast, I installed also Nova Launcher (I become from TF201 and its old problems now seems to be solved).
But I don't know If I've a light bleed issue because I've never seen a tablet with this problem. How can I see if screen has some problem?

When you are first turning on your device.... look around the edge of your screen and all 4 corners for light bleeding out.
While I'm watching the Asus boot logo?

Yes... the background would be all black so it will be easier to spot lighter spots around the edges of the screen

So, we all knew that the smearing issue happening in our phones happened generally around images/text on a black background.
Many of us thought this could be a software issue but in reality this is an hardware limitation (I know many users already know this but there are some still hoping for it to be a software issue).
I had a lot of issues with the first S4 I bought. Most of the issues were around the back light bleed on the bottom and screen color uniformity. After 3 months battling with Samsung with no end in sight, I bought a new one, this time I choose the white one.
The new one has nice whites and the screen uniformity is close to perfect (or at least it seems so, so far). After checking the screen for some hours, I decided the phone was good to be used and started by updating the firmware to the latest available to me (MF8). After this I went to the settings menu to setup some options and I was amazed to see the smearing was almost gone. I never believed it to be a software issue so I was very surprised by this.
However, my surprise ended very quickly when I check the screen on a dark environment. Samsung did not fix the smearing (as it is a hardware limitation and not software like I always thought) they just changed the background of the settings menu from pure black to a very very dark gray.
This can be confirmed if you go to the settings menu and check the background. Then while in the settings menu, drop down the notification back. The notification bar is pure black, while the setting background isn't. Check this on a room without any lights and it will be very easy to detect.
The whole point of this thread is to inform other people from XDA that Samsung just used a workaround (like everything done by Samsung) to "fix" this issue. There is no way to fix this, this is a refresh rate limitation of the screen. If you want the smearing to be gone you cannot have pure blacks.

Maybe except some dirty trick such as replacing pure black with dark grey at kernel level etc.

i wish there was a real fix but sadly i dont think there will be because of the way this new amoled works

Smearing? Never experienced that in my i9500. Is it a myth?
Sent from my Galaxy S4 using XDA app
Some people seem that they don't care enough to even notice that the smearing even exists ...
Also in settings it was a bit annoying but i prefer to have pure black if that's the only disadvantage because i don't think it will proc in anything else other than scrolling because it won't need faster refresh rate ...
I'm not an expert in any form on this kind of things but when i upgraded my phone and saw no smearing in the settings i was first surprised but since i ve read that this is a hardware issue and i double checked it to notice that is a placebo ... but since my phone works as it should and doesn't annoying me with the things i want it to do i don't care that is that this "fix" it's just a cover to the problem and not an actual solution

Your phone has smearing as well. They all do. Not seeing it yourself doesn't make it a myth
wanna see smearing? get some white yellow blue or something like that walpapper (stock blue is perfect), install MX Player from Market.
Get to menu, scroll to the page when the icon of MX Player is, now quickly swipe from right to left, you'll see that black part of icon is extending for maybe 0,1 sec...
That's the smearing, but many of users are pissed with this minor thing, which I can barely see.

And also quite surprised so many people haven't able to observe this issue in their phones.
Yes, I knew that, It's still so tiny tiny issue comparing to those on HTC ONE or Xperia Z (I had Z and One before S4).
Everybody should just download screen adjuster and up the contrast to 13 or 15
That way it will still be very very dark gray looking black with almost non existent smearing. Problem (kinda) solved!
THANKS

Purchased direct from Samsung Italia. Made the switch from an iPhone 6s+. Very happy. My only complaint is having to recalibrate the compass after each restart. Still unclear to me if an isolated problem or one shared by many others. In another thread is sounded like some had the problem, others not. And, it may have been an issue with the Galaxy 6. Overall, glad I made the switch.

The problem with compass calibration affects GPS accuracy. I noticed the issue when driving along Lungotevere near Testaccio and Google Maps claimed I was in the middle of the Tiber - about 500 meters away. Once calibrated, all was good.
I like the greater flexibility to modify and adjust the Edge to my preferences. The camera is, IMO, significantly better, especially the fast focusing. I do miss the integration with the Apple ecosystem as I use a MacBook Air and have my music in iTunes. Still looking for a good music player. I have lots to learn although I have owned many Android devices in the past.

Positive. The simple way to recalibrate is to enter the HwModule Test by entering *#0*# on the phone keypad Then, select Sensor and look for Magnetic Sensor. There you will see a circle with a number inside and a red or blue line. If the number is 3 and the line blue, you are calibrated. Anything else indicates your phone needs calibration. It's easy. Rotate the phone slowly around each of its three axis. You should feel a vibration and a green screen flash when each axes calibrates. Whole process takes 10-15 seconds.

Hi, I've still some doubts regarding this phone. It's very cool and full of high specs, but it looks hard to be hold (you know, edges ...) or taken from a table (cover free). Moreover sound seems not to be that awesome :/ Last but not least, daytime camera pics basically cannot be zoomed otherwise you'll start notice hugly effects, don't you?

Hi guys, i would like to know two things:
1)intelligent standy, which prevent the screen turn off when you look at it, does it work in a dark environment too? Because mine doesn't.
2)when i use an app and i receive an iconized call then the little window stays on my screen and i can't "iconize" it on notify bar (when I'm using speaker phone obviously). I have to open the phone app and then press the home button. Is there a way to avoid that?

Noticing a kind of very lite shade of greys in white screens irrespective of the brightness. No problem with any other colors. Can’t capture it in a snap. So tried my best to represent it in the image(attached). You can download the image and zoom-in and shake the image in the marked area to clearly see what I’m talking about. Anybody else having this issue? Is it huge issue as I will be working with photographs in the phone?
Just bought the device yesterday. Would be nice if someone can tell me how to convey this to the retailer without making him think that I’m crazy for a replacement.

I have found that all modern high density AMOLED screens have this to some extent. I bought 7 Galaxy S6s and none were perfect, with some better than others. 99% of people won't notice it. And even if you're someone who can notice it, sometimes it takes a couple weeks of owning the phone before you see it, and then once you see it, it's hard to unsee it. It's especially noticeable if you're scrolling and move your eyes up and down the screen with the content as it moves.

I saw it in the first day itself. Expected value for the price paid is not delivered means. It's cheating
Its very common on AMOLED devices unfortunately and my guess is that the vast majority of users cannot see it so lower # of units returned to samsung and they probably will blame it on QA. If a lot of consumers would start to notice it and demand for close to perfect panels then samsung will probably up their AMOLED game.
we bought 3 sgs7 phones all of them have this issue...how can such a company like Samsung do this ...like i cant see that LOL my vission on close distances is verry verry good so thats whay i saw those gray lines in a minute after buying one.i went to see my brothers gs7 after that and of course his one was the same and then after one week my father bought one white version so i thought that the 3rd one has to be a good one but NOPE it was the same story again...im very pissed so i will go to Samsung and tell them about it and will see what will they say...just to let u know guys i had similar problem on xperia z5 but instead of grey lines i had white ones and also some white spots and i send it to waranty and told them about the display issue and they have replaced the screen and now its perfect...so im goin to do that on Samsung aswell. good luck ppl
just to let u know guys i went Samsung and they replaced the screen but those gray lines are visible again so they sad that they cannot fix it and change screen everytime.... it looks like that alot of led panels are baddly constructed in the factory so i decided to return the phone.

I have exactly this same issue and it's driving me nuts! I cannot return my phone now, but it's very noticeable for me those grey lines when some other people I tried to show it couldn't see it...I hate AMOLED displays, I have never had a phone with an AMOLED display which was perfect, all of them always had some issue at some point. From Motorola, other Samsung, Huawei, all of them had some sort of issue with the display.[emoji35]

Replaced once, too. Mine was not a perfect line, like gray dust splattered along a line. Especially visible with grayish flat images, there were clear fluctuations on shade of "gray". Second device is almost perfect. If you look with magnifying glass , there were some pinkish littttle dusty dots on white, but it is really hard to see with naked eye. So happy with second now.
This issue is present because AMOLED screens don't use backlight. Every pixel is emitting light, and my guess is that they aren't distributing the same amount of brightness on every area of the screen.
It's noticable, but as some said to a very small amount of people, and it isn't that much of an issue if u ask me. Bigger issue is that amoled screens burn in over time. I could see my keyboard on white background on my S5 after a year and a half of use. Thank god that s7 has themes so I can change keyboard layouts.
Everything comes with a price... LCD's have their flaws, and so do AMOLED's.
Good news, its just a software bug on Android M, just reflash it to Android N and it will be fixed.

My experience.
Hi all,
I have an unlocked, rooted, Nougat ROM S7 Edge and I have been experiencing the same issue for 3 months.
The only way for me to fixed it is to flash Superman ROM, then the lines disappear. Any other ROM (Elyos, S8 ports, ...): I have the grey lines. A kernel issue?
Cheers.
P.S.: Flicker free kernel used to work with Superman ROM but if I flash it after any other ROM, my phone gets stuck in boot.
Hello guys,
I am seeing a yellowish tint on the bottom left on my screen, but only on some grey background. I'm still on the 15 days returning window so I am thinking of sending my phone back.
Anyone with the same issue? Should I ask for a refund and purchase back a new phone or ask for an exchange?
Thanks.

Like any oled screen. It's a lottery what the colour shift, evenness. If you notice it you should exchange it. It will annoy you to no end
