[Q] simple root question

How can I root my HTC one m8 but still have it be the same as when I bought it. For example, I still want to receive updates and I want everything to work the same but I'll be rooted . Basically I just want to remove the bloatware and install cool roms. I don't want anything else to change. Is this possible?
I like everything about this phone so I dont want to change anything
You can't really root and still accept otas. Verizon is without a doubt after the root methods so an OTA will probably break root. You also won't be accepting OTAs when you're on a custom ROM. You can either just root with weak sauce or s off and unlock with fire water.

you can most def root (very easy Process) and remove the bloatware and keep everything else stock. while you cant update ota, just keep checking on here, somebody will post an updated bloatfree rom that runs as close to stock as possible. The best of both worlds my friend.

You can do what I did...First I downloaded WeakSauce.apk directly to my phone, then downloaded SuperSU from the play store. Then I downloaded Titanium Backup and used it deleted the bloatware off of my phone..very easy.

If you are rooted but haven't changed the contents of \system in any way (i.e. NOT gotten rid of any apps), AND aren't running a custom recovery, the OTA's should take. The OTA's appear to look at the system directory to see if there are any modifications and fail the OTA flash if there are. So, if you are essentially stock everything except for root access, you should be okay.
That having been said, I didn't see anyone post about a successful OTA update after rooting; and most folks once they're rooted just can't help get a custom recovery (how else can you Nandroid?) or make the slightest tweak(s) to the system.
As someone said above, usually when there's an OTA, the devs have put it out as a flashable mod within 24 hours; and as someone ELSE said above, best NOT to take the OTA's because they are notorious for breaking root.
Yeah, OTA's are a nice touch, and that's how I run my Nexus 7, but on my phone they're a pain in the neck --- I want things my way, and I'm not willing to give that up.

Your current setup does not permit writing to the \system partition. That's fine. (And that's especially good if you really are determined to take OTA updates and keep it pure stock but rooted.) To "get rid" of the bloatware, or any other system app you don't want to see you can do two things: (1) hide the app in the app drawer (that's done from the menu in the app drawer). And (2) Using app manager from settings, navigate to "all" apps, work your way down the list of apps and each one you want to disable: (a) turn off notifications; and then (b) press "disable." I think one or two just can't be disabled, e.g. Visual Voice Mail, but for the most part, you'll be able to make the bloat seem to "disappear" and you won't have affected your system partition, plus, they'll still be gone when you reboot.

[Q] Backup and removing bloatwares (System apps)

Hello everyone! I have questions on ROM backup and removing bloatwares which are also known as system apps which come in your phone pre-installed.
I have currently Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on my phone and it is rooted with Framaroot which I have downloaded on XDA itself. When I bought this phone, there were many pre-installed system apps along, but I have disabled all which I do not use.
Now, I want to completely remove them from my phone. I have heard that if I want to remove the bloatwares COMPLETELY from my phone, they will be gone forever and also they will not be appeared again even if I do a factory reset. If this is true, then I will need to backup my current 4.2.2 system including with the bloatwares, and then remove the bloatwares completely after backup. I will have to backup because in case of problem, I can recover it.
I have three questions at this time:
Is it true if you uninstall bloatwares COMPLETELY on your phone, they will not appear later even if you do a factory reset?
How can I backup my actual ENTIRE 4.2.2 system with its bloatwares etc, to store on PC and then will reinstall later in case of emergency? I have heard of custom recovery, but explain me more. I want to backup the entire system.
If I want to install the backup system again later, how to do it?
Thank!
I don't know about the gone forever thing but Titanium Backup Pro can backup & restore all system & user apps, it can also uninstall system apps

Use Rom tool box to back up your rom. Or use No bloat from google play to remove boatwares.
Never underestimate a kid whose poor in cash but rich in time.
With a custom recovery like CWM oder TWRP you can do a backup of your whole system (called Nandroid). In case of an emergency (?) you can flash the backup to you phone and everything will be there again, even if you deleted all the bloatware apps afterwards.
You can also use Titanium Backup to backup all your data and to remove these system apps later on. Having this backup you can re-install the apps afterwards.
To wrap this up. Having a backup enables you to reinstall deleted apps and they won't be gone forever. However, when deleting the backup everything will be gone of course
Thank you for replying. I have another question, where to download ROM 4.2.2 for Huawei Y320-U10?

You can boot into recovery mode of your phone and select backup, this will backup your rom with only system apps and not the ones you install later.
If you want backup of rom with your other installed apps and their app data then use a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP or an application called Online Nandoid
If you want to backup individual apks use Titanium Backup ( needs root)
To delete system apps you can use Titanium Backup or use a ROOT EXPLORER to go to /system/app/ and delete the apks of unneeded apps.

[Completed] [Q] Hi

Is it possible to install apps to the root of the phone?
If that question doesn't sound right, what I want to do is replace my standard camera app with the Google camera. If I ever reformat my phone I want the Google camera, instead of stock app. Basically replace stock apps with different ones but stay on my phone as if they oem.
Bump
You can move apps to the system partition (/system/app) and you can remove apps from there as well, this requires root of course. But, messing with system apps can cause OTA updates to fail or even damage your device. If neither of those things happen then the app you moved there will probably be overwritten by the stock one that you removed during an update. In short, yes you can replace system apps with other apps of your choosing. But, that will not survive updates or factory resets, and could damage your device. My advice: just install the apps from the Play Store as you usually would.

OnePlus 3 System App Conversion Failing *Root-->UnRoot*

I have a OnePlus3 running OxygenOS 5.0.1 based off of Android Oreo 8.0.0. My device is successfully rooted. I converted the system app as I should. I placed the app into /system/priv-app. The permissions on the app folder are as the should be, and the permissions on the base.apk are as they should be. While the phone is rooted, the app cannot be uninstalled. To me, that means a successful conversion of the app. It got weird though. I restarted the phone for the settings to take place. Then I went to fully unroot my device via SuperSU app, because I want a fully unrooted device. SuperSU asked me if I wanted to restore the stock boot image, I said yes. It then asked if I wanted to restore the stock recovery, I said no. The phone unrooted perfectly fine, and it was no longer rooted, however, my converted system app was missing. I rerooted so I could do the process again, but when my phone booted back up after SuperSU was flashed, the app was back! I went and checked its properties, it still has all of the correct permissions. It is still in /system/priv-app. I then tried the entire process again except I put the app into /system/app and literally the exact same thing happened. Then I fully removed the app from the phone, did a lot of cache wiping and rebooting. I then reinstalled the app and used Link2SD to convert it so a system app. Again, literally the exact same thing happened. This made me very confused, so I went to check the system apps, while the phone was still rooted. My converted app cannot be deleted, HOWEVER, it is listed under the general app list and not system apps, because the app is on the list of apps before I expand the list to display all of the system apps.
I have an LG G3 running Android 5.0.1 and I performed the exact same steps as above. The only difference is that SuperSU didnt ask me all of the questions when fully unrooting. It just unrooted when I clicked the fully unroot button. On the LG the app is listed under system apps, shows up upon reboot when there is no root, and it cannot be deleted....very obviously a system app.
Any pointers to help to get my OnePlus3 situated is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mate 9 question

I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone and installed TWRP. I then installed an uninstaller app (root) to uninstall a system app. (Email) because I use the Gmail app but I am not successful in uninstalling the system email app. What am I doing wrong?
I haven't rooted this device yet (Was all Samsung devices before), but removing system apps can sometimes give odd results. Processes crashing ect. (When I removed Facebook from my Stock Note 4, It made it so I couldn't auto rotate anymore. Needed a fix here on XDA someone found). What I would do is install Titanium Backup and uninstall it that way (Make Titanium Backup actually back up the app first, then remove)
