[Q] How can I get rid of the bloatware?

I dont know where to begin or what to do. Do I have to turn s-off? I just want my phone a little more snappy. Also, is it possibld to dual boot sense 3.0 and srock gingerbread?

You can either turn S-off, root your phone and then, with a file explorer like Root explorer or ES file, delete the apps you want to get rid off;
or you can set a temp root (there's plenty of things related to this in Dev section) and with the same way, delete your apps.

There's a much easier method. Still requires S-OFF, but you don't have to do it manually.
WARNING: THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. PLEASE ONLY PROCEED IF YOU ARE SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS.
Firstly, get S-OFF with AlphaRevX's Revolutionary tool. Let it flash ClockWorkMod Recovery as well. Then flash this file in recovery to achieve root. Once done, reboot into Android (it's still the stock ROM). You then need to go into the Market and install an app called ROM Manager. Give it Superuser rights (Superuser is the front end for root). Then, right at the top, you have an option: Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery. Choose this option, select your phone model (HTC Sensation, only one in the list). It will now flash a new ClockWorkMod that's generally better than the one you flashed and used before hand.
Next, you need to install a custom ROM. This is still Sense (for now, it won't be at the end of this guide!). The custom ROM is called Android Revolution HD. This ROM is really fast, very optimized, and generally a great ROM. Download it and flash it through ClockWorkMod Recovery (reboot into ClockWorkMod by choosing Reboot into Recovery option in ROM Manager). Remember to do a nandroid backup by using the backup/restore option in ClockWorkMod.
The maker of this ROM also makes a Script called No Sense. Here's the post all about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14191947&postcount=2
Once the ROM has finished flashing, stay in recovery (it is essential you stay in ClockWorkMod Recovery) and flash the No Sense script I mentioned earlier. Once the No Sense script has flashed, you can reboot.
You should now be bloatware free! This is still a Sense ROM, but it removes Sense. Unfortunately, Pure Gingerbread and CyanogenMod aren't available yet, but I should think they will be soon.

I am perfectly happy with stock Sense, so the first thing I wanted to do is get rid of crap like TeleNAV, Slacker, and other bloatware that has an annoying habit of running in the background. Using Root Manager, which has worked for me successfully on my previous phones, I uninstalled the apk and, where applicable, the odex files for all the bloat apps that I wanted to remove, cleared the cache, and rebooted the phone. To my surprise, not only did the app icons still appear in the app drawer, but the associated apps still opened and ran!
I am not exactly new to rooting, and have successfully removed bloatware from other phones. I am not really interested in flashing a custom ROM at this point. Short of that, any suggestions?

I am in the same boat as you, if the apps are still open and there, whats the point in even rooting? I like Sense 3.0 and I think my phone is fast enough after a fresh reboot, I just want it to be almost as fast by the time my battery dies 20-25hours later and I was hoping deleting or freezing all those background apps I don't use should help with this.

I don't want to dual boot if it's not stock gingerbread or cyanogenmod and I really like sense 3.0 for some reason. All I want do is get rid of all these boat ware and make it as much of such sense that I can, but it looks like you guys are having a lot of trouble

Has anyone been able to successfully remove bloatware after rooting and S-OFFing their Sensations? Any assistance will be appreciated.
***UPDATE: I installed Titanium Backup and used it to remove the bloatware. Worked like a charm!

Can anyone confirm this?!

i can confirm this works, have had bloatware of my choice removed for over a week through Ti backup and it works perfectly... never had any problems... I got the tip from reading the suggestions in insertcoin rom's op (thanks baad)... some people have had apps reappearing using root explorer but not with Ti... and you know its working because if you keep track of your memory on there you can watch it increase as you delete the apps..

Do we have a list of applications that are SAFE to remove with Titanium backup? I don't want to mess it up. I had to BORROW a computer to even root my phone so can't risk bricking it.

Yes, but you may need to buy the pro key to acces that feature, choose batch then you'll see a list of choices to run

I meant like for my previous phone Xperia there was a list of apps that are safe to remove on wiki page. I didn't find this for Sensation so I wonder if there is a list somewhere else. On xperia I was using Root uninstaller from Market to unistall.

[Q] Maximise storage space

Hey guys, i am interested in maximising my HTC One Mini 601s storage space and have seen this but i am unsure if i would be able to use it on my phone, or how to for that matter.

Straight out of the box the storage is 5.2GB / 16.00GB used and id love to remove the bloatware apps but for some reason using titanium backup with root access wont get rid of them (they just appear again after reset)
Im pretty novice in the ways of android at the moment so i dont want to go deleting files using root explorer and brick my phone.
I thought about putting on the magio rom, but i hear it can potentially be unstable or mysteriously drain battery life.
I guess what i am asking is, what is the best way to bring my phone right back to stock android, remove bloat and maximise space?

I'm using Magio R3 and haven't had any battery issues. For me the best version of android for our phones, though I only used stock for a couple of weeks before rooting. I'm able to use the JMZ kernel which has some nice touches, and I don't suffer any wierd bugs. Though with this version a few paid apps are blocked from play store. But easy enough to grab else where and send them a cheque in the post. Magio has some apps removed but not all that can be. I'm still testing which can be removed and which can't.
Anyways.. Only had a glance at this rom cleaner but it might just be for Samsung phones. You wanna search for a HTC one. Personally I don't like these system app removal scripts. They always take something you use and leave stuff you don't. Plus they can still brick your phone if not specifically designed for your phone.
Personally I make a nandroid backup and use Titanium Backup to remove system apps. If you find an app your unsure about Google it, there are a lot of descriptions for all the htc apps on Google.

I don't think i am ready to replace a kernel, but installing the Magio rom could be on the cards later.
I have two questions though
1) Can i completely 'format' my internal storage before i put on the rom, or will that just brick the phone
2) Any idea why Rooted Titanium Backup cant uninstall bloatware (they just re-appear upon reset)

When you are i recovery ready to flash your new ROM, if you want to COMPLETELY loose all your user data, then you wipe a factory reset, then FORMAT data, it will ask you to type "yes" to make sure you actually want to do this....
You can't get rid of the system apps as the system is write-protected - this can be made read/write by either s-off (advanced) or flashing a custom rom (Magio) with the custom kernel built-in.

Okay so turning S-OFF, I can only assume doing so will also practically roll out a red carpet to hacks and viruses, and that unrevoked forever app seems to make it easy to turn it off, but instructions are vague at turning it back on.
Just out of curiosity, is there a wiki for general android hacking and terminology?
And i will try your custom romcleaner file, it sounds promising since you recommended it to someone with a HTC One Mini

You won't become open to hacks, viruses - quite the opposite in fact, as you will be able to install adware and malware blockers etc.

Yeah dude i rooted it and its got superuser 1.0.2.8 installed
Perhaps later, its 11PM and im on painkillers for an ear infection so its not the prime time to be messing with my phone
Is there anything wrong with using moonshine/rumrunners/unrevoked
they seem fairly straight forward methods

I'm not keen on that method - the binary involved, revone, is 400kb, rumrunners download is 25MB.... Personally I'm not keen on "wizards" doing things you can't control.... Plus, you never learn if everything is automated... Hehe! Either way, feel free to give me a shout if you want advice or help.... Take it easy....

although i did get an "error code 2" after inputting "./revone -P" , i just carried on with the reboot then the next command "./revone -s 0 -u"and another reboot and it still worked successfully

Write Protection Off Issue - Bootloader Unlocked

So I've got a Droid Maxx non dev edition but was lucky enough to unlock my bootloader. Just today I used RSD Lite to go back to 4.2.2 stock, then reinstalled TWRP and re-rooted.
For some reason, all the bloat I remove with titanium keeps reinstalling itself and it's driving me nuts. I checked my write protection status and it still returns code 0, but the device is acting like write protection is back on.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yes I know exactly what it is. My bootloader is still unlocked and the ADB Shell command to check write protection status still comes back as a 0. The only way to get back to 4.2.2 is to use the FXZ or use fastboot commands, and since the fastboot commands weren't working, I went the FXZ route.
I'm not questioning why the bloat came back...I'm asking why I can't get rid of it now. Try reading before replying next time.
As stated above, I'm now trying to remove bloat and it keeps re-downloading on its own. I remember when I went to 4.4 with slapmymoto I had to boot into "recovery" and then remove the bloat, and that would work, but I have custom recovery on an unlocked bootloader now so I am not sure if there's something I'm missing.

I did read and no where did it say you did an fxz and then tried to remove the bloat. If you want help be more specific in what steps you took and the order you did them.

Just an FYI, when I get home later I am going to try flashing back to the stock recovery from the 4.2.2 fxz, then seeing if it boots in "recovery" mode. I remember doing that when first rooting and upgrading to 4.4 and needing to be booted to "recovery" to have deleted bloat stay where it belongs...deleted.

Alright now I'm begging for some help here.
I'm rooted, unlocked bootloader, and WP off (confirmed again), and I cannot use Titanium to uninstall IMDB after running the FXZ 4.2.2 with the camera update. I confirm again, I am still rooted, my bootloader is still unlocked, and I still have WP off (status 0).
Can anyone else please shed some light on this? Why on earth would I not be able to uninstall anything while rooted, unlocked, and WP off????!!!!!

Found some of the APKs in system/vendor, deleted them, then used Titanium to uninstall, and it seems to be sticking. What a pain in the a$$ that was.

I've used Titanium on my last two phones - not this one - but it's ability to freeze and uninstall apps was never too great for me. It's a lot easier to delete the apps (or rename them with a .bak at the end of the apk and odex files) using Root Explorer.

Yea I can't remember if I had to do that when I initially rooted, but it seems to be sticking. At one point today I had a notification that IMDB had been scanned, which was one of the apps giving me a headache, but it's still deleted so I'm crossing my fingers that it sticks.
I actually had to delete the APKs, reboot, then use titanium to uninstall. Even after using root Explorer to delete and rebooting, the apps were still in the drawer, but titanium permanently removed them.

I'm assuming that the imdb app was updated from the play store before you delete it. Updates to built in apps go to the data partition - they don't overwrite the system partition copy, so that's why it was still around. You probably could have gone into settings / apps, find imdb and tap it, uninstall updates. Then deleting the app from system would have made it disappear from the app drawer.

Actually the "Integrate updates into System ROM" moves the updated app to system and thus clearing the data partition space, which is a good thing for phone with no sd slot. BUT, the problem is sometimes the app will repeatedly gets FC. Happened with Google Keyboard. I later found out a workaround though.
I recommend to first convert it (and all other updated via play sys apps) to USER APP first, then close Titanium and reopen it to "convert it to system app". This takes some more time, but there will be NO force closes. Believe me, this is working great.

[Q] How to disable/uninstall preloaded NVIDIA apps?

I know you all are going to think I'm ridiculous, but I bought 2 shield tablets for my kids ages 3 and nearly 2 for educational purposes. After weighing the Nexus 9, shield tablet and Sony's Z2 tablet the shield seemed to be the best value. My kids have a restricted profile with only the educational/learning apps that I have selected available to them. My question is how do I disable or uninstall the preloaded NVIDIA apps such as SHIELD HUB, the controller one, Twitch sharing, etc.? My kids will never use them likely for the usable life of the tablets and I don't need them poking around with them so I'd like to have them removed or hidden at the least. I have the tablets stock rooted with TWRP recovery and I've used Titanium backup on previous devices to do something similar before but it doesn't seem be to able to located the APKs of these apps to uninstall them.

Go into Settings and then Apps, you can select which you want to disable and uninstall (will not always uninstall as its part of the system i think) This is what I have done as i dont want junk running when I dont need/want it to

I tried that first before resorting to Titanium Backup. The Disable button is greyed out and not available to click for these apps. These are like some super system level apps that can't be disabled or uninstalled the normal way.

My suggestion would be to root the device. Many apps such as Titanium require root access for full functionality. Once rooted you'll be able to remove anything that you want. I personally just use Root Browser to navigate to System/App and delete what I don't want.
The drawback to rooting is that you won't have automatic OTA updates. (Not hard to get past that, download the OTA file and flash in Recovery.) But for your use you might not want to receive OTAs anyway.

My tablets are rooted, I mentioned that in the original post. However, Titanium Backup was unable to uninstall them (thus my question here) saying something about being unable to locate the APKs. I'll try Root Browser manually like you suggested when I get back home to them later.
I'm fully aware of all consequences of rooting, OTAs, etc. Every Android device I've owned since the original T-Mobile G1 has been rooted, but I do appreciate your willingness to help!

I stopped using Titanium Backup a while ago. There are simpler means of restoring apps and restoring data is likely to cause headaches. That said, the problem seems odd. As far as I know, all apps install to either /system/app or /data/app, That being the case, can't imagine why TB wouldn't be able to find them.
Are you by any chance running Multirom?

Not running MultiROM, just stock with root. I thought it was odd that Titanium couldn't locate the APKs too, that's why I decided to ask here. I suspect if I go cruising around /system/app looking for these APKs to remove I won't find them there.

You would be correct about them not being in system. Look in /vendor/app. Should be what you want.

So i was thinking, on my galaxy s7. Someone made a script you can run using twrp, where it deletes all unnecessary apps and other random stuff !
Would this be possible on the Mate 9 and pro ?

There is common way to install official updates - OTA. And every time you have to return all deleted stuff back when you will install update (cause OTA checks apps and raises error if something was deleted)
Second factor - you have to unlock bootloader to install TWRP
At third, why are you asking script, if phone has function to disable most part of applications?

You can get root then use a root uninstaller to remove all the system junk you don't want on your phone... I deleted a ton of bloat like this - Facebook, Gmail, bunch of Huawei crap, chrome, etc. I use my phone for work so need the battery boost, so doing that allows me to keep using the phone all day, and sometimes even until midday the day after!

I do not mind unlocking bootloader to install TWRP!
I just hate to have root on..
Because, the apps still take up some space and the disable function does not really work. I have always have had problems with it.

Not the biggest fan of rooting my phones. There are some apps that does not work with rooted phones

Oh, i am still waiting on my store to get the phone home. They only had 4 in store, but they got sold out, new on the way.
So i'll have the phone next week first. Can't remember every app in the head, but i'll share a list here when i get the phone

Most bloat apps are actually in /data/, if not all.
OTA checks /system, /vendor and /product. If any of those are edited you can't install OTA.
