You guys are lucky you might get jelly bean. Apple can't bother to try to get HTC devices banned because they're not actually a threat. Even if they were, HTC would be lazy and simply remove any infringing software. Us over at the sensation forum have a nearly working jelly bean rom but we won't have front facing camera working without official HTC kernel. Is it the same for you guys?

Virtually everything is working perfectly. Camera F+B, video, (Netflix on some builds),etc. The only problems are random reboots / freezing when screen is off but those have drastically reduced recently. There are even mounting of both internal and external SD on R4ins build although torch locks up when screen is off on his build. Our community took jb and ran with it. Daily driver for sure, at least for people who know what there doing and aren't scared of a hiccup or two along the way.
Best of luck getting yours functioning properly

There is no official JB for the Skyrocket yet, but you can get Vincom's Rom AKA VinRom if you go under developement its there. Not official but its the best ROM out there yet...Fast and very good.

Well take a look at how long it took us to get ICS. I believe we had a official release back in june and the unofficial leak back in December. So if we do get a leak I don't think we'll see one till mid 2013. Also keep in mind that the S3 is out so S2's are now obsolete.

R4INS' AOKP Jellybean Sept-5 build (with InstigatorX kernel, of course) is definitely the most stable and feature-packed variety of Jellybean available on the Skyrocket right now. I'd be surprised to ever see an official leaked for this device because the S3 replaced the relevance of the entire S2 line.

There are conflicting reports. This one from SamMobile seems to both confirm and leave it in doubt.
Ok, the insiders of SamMobile reported to us that all high-end Galaxy devices will get the Jelly Bean update.
In other words, the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy S III.
When we asked Samsung Benelux about this they told us that they couldn’t tell us anything about the updates.

If the note gets It, i wouldn't see why we wouldnt , the hardware is very similar

R4INS' AOKP Jellybean Sept-5 build is great, I don't have any problem yet.
I wanna install the instigator kernel because I have the 3.0.42 cyanogenmod-g5c2e4b4
the rom is too fast.

I disagree. As long as we have good, dedicated developers, the SR is not obsolete. There is little an S3 can do that a SR cannot. Our SR's even have an advantage in some areas over the S3, not the least of which is a long, strong history of quality development. Some users prefer the shape and physical build-quality of the SR over the S3, too.
Obsolete? Skyrockets, especially rooted and modded ones, are way beyond most if the smartphone market.

If any of our canadian cousins get kernel source can that be applied to At&t? I seem to think they will get it faster then us. With that said can At&t users use their kernels?

Checking up on the Infuse.

Just making a topic seeing how everyone's doing in the infuse forums. As you can tell in my Sig I jumped over yo the SIII seeing as I had an available upgrade. Still have my infuse though as backup But I mainly just wanted to see how it is over here.

Better then ever. New Roms, New Ports, ICS w/BT and JB.
Still loving mine! My infuse was my first real smartphone (previously had a Noxia 5800 which sort of counts I guess, but first Android anyway)... I love that its so easy to play with and nearly impossible to brick (though flashing a new bootloader through heimdall and have it fail halfway through did make me pucker a bit!). The JB roms are quite stable and definitely breathe some new life into this (not even that old) phone.

Hopefully this will help development for our phone in a 4.1 sense.
Same here. I would love to see a JB port for the Blaze.
It'll be easier to get a port once we have ICS. If Samsung releases it anytime this century... I am still confused for why Cyanogen Mod doesn't support our phone but still supports single core phones lol

I'm confused by lack of CM support for the blaze. They still support the cliqxt but lack of support might be because none of their members has the device

That's what I'm thinking. It's more about popularity than actually good hardware. Funny thing is that if CM10 or at least CM9 were available more people would buy this phone. A bunch of people jumped ship and returned this device after looking at the 'slow' development. As of now it's picking up and hope it gets even better. Coming from a G2x, which was a huge waste of potential hardware, I hope this device doesn't meet the same fate. The only reason I didn't buy the Galaxy Nexus was because of its weird hardware (bad camera, random reboots, etc.) Lol

We might not get official cm support but I know ill work on cm9 even more when ics source drops !

Be patient. As soon as Samsung releases ICS kernel open source for Galaxy S Blaze 4G, we will have more custom ROMs such as CM9 and CM10.

Stable Jelly Bean on the cheap

After hearing about the Nexus S getting JB I've been wondering if any other older phones will be getting official JB or prospects are looking good for a stable thrid-party port. I can't afford a SGSII or even a Galaxy Nexus right now...
Samsung captivate has job port pretty stable I believe. Just look around there's a lot of good phones out with great devs
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Youre right I should look around, gonna go through the JB port announcements on the main XDA site. The Captivate will certainly be an option to consider along the Nexus S.
EDIT:Seems Motorola Defy has a rather advanced port.
you can get the moto defy also, has a pretty decent CM10 and it can be got for cheap also
HTC Desire HD seems to have a advanced JB port.
The HD2 has a fairly good port, with everything but YouTube working. I don't think HWA is working either but I haven't really checked much, I'm still using CM9 until something better is released.
Captivate is very inexpensive and the Remic port of JB is working great
Edit: Nevermind, wrong forum. Too many open tabs. I know, very noob...

HTC Dinc2 has two promising threads of JB CM10 (N7 & Aeroevan's). Just flashed the latter last night and it's pretty good so far. There are some bugs, but they have a lot of active development on them.

Get the Captivate only if you don't need or care about gps. I had one, and gps never worked properly. But it was a decent phone otherwise.
My captivate had great gps but I did see a lot of crappy GPS cappys

Samsung vibrant almost instantly gets roms ported from the Nexus S, loved having that phone for that purpose. I still have it but retired it upon upgrading to hercules
i think the development of JB for DHD is quite good in progress...

Better screen, higher MP camera, hover stuff that might make it into CM. Otherwise it will be the same software the S3 has.
I love newest/latest/greatest...but I think I will be ok with a RC CM10.1 on the S3 vs. back to nightlies on the S4, at least until my next phone comes out (if a nexus comes to vzw again, or if the moto x-phones look good, i'll jump).
an AOSP camera app that doesn't misfocus all the time.
If the S3 can't hold a decent signal in fringe areas with AOSP after a year or two, I don't have high hopes for the S4 to do any better.

Firstly did you eliminate the fact if it's a ROM issue, a modem driver issue, or the hardware issue? For eg you may want to put on a stock samsung ROM and have a go at the reception comparison.
Secondly, there wasn't any officially built AOSP for the S3.
With the S4, there's gonna be officially built AOSP release that will have all the correct integration with the components

It's a known issue. Samsung never officially released the RIL, so the bastardized versions just don't work as well. If you're in a great 4g area, you'll be fine with AOSP, but handshakes are terrible and reception is lacking. Believe me, I've tried pretty much all the roms with multiple phones. When they work, they work well, but when they don't...terrible. It's sad, really, as I would MUCH prefer non-TW...
