Google posts Android 4.1 Jelly Bean images for Nexus devices - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Hopefully this will help development for our phone in a 4.1 sense.

Same here. I would love to see a JB port for the Blaze.

It'll be easier to get a port once we have ICS. If Samsung releases it anytime this century... I am still confused for why Cyanogen Mod doesn't support our phone but still supports single core phones lol

That's what I'm thinking. It's more about popularity than actually good hardware. Funny thing is that if CM10 or at least CM9 were available more people would buy this phone. A bunch of people jumped ship and returned this device after looking at the 'slow' development. As of now it's picking up and hope it gets even better. Coming from a G2x, which was a huge waste of potential hardware, I hope this device doesn't meet the same fate. The only reason I didn't buy the Galaxy Nexus was because of its weird hardware (bad camera, random reboots, etc.) Lol

Be patient. As soon as Samsung releases ICS kernel open source for Galaxy S Blaze 4G, we will have more custom ROMs such as CM9 and CM10.

Infuse ROMs

Hey guys I recently got an infuse from a buddy. Its never been rooted or anything, I came from the inspire where I noticed there was a lot more activity with ROMs, skins,etc... I'm wondering if this phone doesn't have as much interest or its harder to do things with? Ik nothing of the programming that goes into these things...just wondering if there will be more to come or if it is what it is?

I also came from the inspire. The ROM activity here is nothing compared to the that phones development. HTC phones will always be superior with development and thats just the way it is. Partly because of the strong following of HTC Sense.

If you look in the dev section you'll find lots to play with.

Very good point. I remember the Inspire forums before the official GB builds came out. There was nothing happening and many people thought it was the start of a downhill path to the end of development for that phone. How wrong they were! Turned out all the devs didn't want to put in a lot of time to another build if GB was on the horizon. As soon as it hit, it was madness with all the new ROMs coming out. Hopefully the same happens here.
Cool I hope it all starts up soon... I will keep my eyes on the dev sections to see what comes up...fingers crossed

Me too. Its a tough call between Samsung and HTC though. Samsung has always had fantastic hardware and specs, HTC has always had fantastic software and vast dev community. Take your pick...

Yeah. Pretty much what happened was:
Things slowed down as we all waited for Rogers Gingerbread, as few people wanted to put significant efforts into Froyo. A few (like Bedwa and myself) did so more as a learning experience. The lull gave some of us time to learn and play.
Then Rogers GB came out - there was a heavy flurry of development for a few weeks, including trying to correct the deficiencies of the Rogers Gingerbread release. Correcting some of these deficiencies seemed to be nearly impossible - after multiple attempts, HDMI was hosed, data speeds were crap, and camera performance was blah.
There was also all the *****ing people did at gtg over the data speeds issue which made a lot of devs nervous about posting stuff here. Nopcodex90 almost released a GB ROM but after seeing how many people complained about fundamental uncorrectable problems with Rogers GB, I believe he decided to hold off until AT&T released Gingerbread.
So people started getting frustrated with basing anything on the Rogers release, and we all decided to take a break and have some beers rather than bash our heads against the wall for little return. On top of that LinuxBozo had some stuff come up in RL for a few weeks, and similarly I had the following chain of events make me fall behind on phone hacking:
1) Family visiting for Labor Day
2) Epic flooding (4-6 feet above previous record) where I live - I was living at a friend's 40 minutes away for a few days, then no power for a few more, and no hot water for nearly a week.
3) Nasty sinus infection - I'm just recovering from this now.
Also, thanks to Hellrasier, A LOT of new ROMs have opened up to the infuse. So check out the android development for the Samsung i9000. I've played around with a few and they work really well.
After Gingerbread is officially released more will pick up for the Infuse specifically but until then it's fun to try some of the 10-15 that the i9000 give us.

Hellraiser isn't quite seamless - there are known issues with it such as no audio on the first call without toggling speaker on/off, and all of the typical Rogers Gingerbread warts.
The other known Hellraiser issue consistent across many ROMs is that if the ROM has a "battery fully charged" notification, this notification will stick until the device is rebooted. Does not affect ROMs that nuke the notification in the first place such as Mikey's S7.
But so far nearly all I9000 ROMs work equally well with Hellraiser.
What is Hellraiser? As u can see im on my infuse from Rogers which must be what the I997R stands for.
Can I use this Hellraiser thing on my Rogers infuse?
Please advise...

Cool let me know I actually just got the s2 from a friend for 150 and no contract i couldn't pass it up lol
I just moved to one of these from a HTC Incredible I've been running ICS on since January and I have to say, it's hard to go back to GB, but the phone is just so much better and it's the only sub 4" phone that has a dual core procesor and is reasonably priced out of contract. Anyways, hoping for ICS sooner rather than later!

[Q] When is 4.1 jelly bean being released?

You knew this question was going to come. Now that 4.1 has been announced, when are we getting ours?
This will take a longer time for sure, as HTC is still busy to release ICS
Jellybean dev kits are supposed to be released mid july. At least that's what this source says: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/
But it may be a while before we get a working ROM.
Given the time it took the CM team to release CM9 RC1, I'd say 6 months!

While ICS is quite nice, it is hard not to want the latest, greatest thing on our devices Still, at least the Nexus 7 is available to fulfil the JB goodness until it's available. That may end up replacing my Nook Color which hasn't been used in a month since it's ac adapter gave up the ghost.
HTC says they "don't yet have an announcement" for Jelly Bean on existing devices.
... I can't post a link because <10 posts, but there is an article on pocket-lint.com
That will only lead to an anemic SDK ROM. sure it will show us the cool new features, but I wouldn't expect much. I wonder how long it takes to hit AOSP

Google doesn't care
I remember reading recently that Google knows about fragmentation but isn't worried about it. Now that I'm tempted to buy a media device to have the latest and greatest software, I can see how fragmentation can actually work for Google because now more and more people will look to buy nexus devices.
the main reason i got a HTC phone is because unlike Samsung's strange choice in hardware it dosnt take 5 months to port a fast stable release from the MOD team unlike HTC
lets hope this takes off !

We have been forgotten.

Is it me or does the Thunderbolt feel completely abandoned by developers?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
Yep no jellybean for us yet. JB makes ics seem as slow as am ibm pcjr. We should demand HTC give us JB instead of ics
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Developers need an ICS leak to make anything new, how many GB ROMs do you want? As far as the CM9 RIL has proved to be a huge problem. So no, developers still have Thunderbolts they just need something new to work with, instead of pointing fingers at them, point them at HTC.

While it's not the fault of the dev's, we have been forgotten. The thunderbolt is unfortunately old news and most likely won't have much more activity until we get ICS/JB.
Its more like HTC doesn't give a crap about our phones anymore. It's unacceptable that they haven't put out an update sooner.
I'm still here!
Most phones were forgotten (or stagnated) on Verizon when the Nexus came out. Anyone who didn't see that coming was just a tad short-sided.

Bionic already has 4 ICS leaks...and blame HTC. Anyway, the Incredible S (GSM Dinc 2) got ICS today. Here's the thing - the Thunderbolt was replaced by the Rezound a long time ago, and it's honestly not that great of a phone anyway. It was the first LTE phone, but the specs were far behind other phones that came out before it. It will be nice when it finally does get ICS (and it will, but remember the 2.3.4 update took a very long time as well), but most people (like me) who bought this phone will have already moved on, or be well on their way to a better phone by the time it finally is released. As far as being forgotten by developers - not forgotten, but they have moved on to better phones. The Thunderbolt is old hat - 1Ghz Snapdragon w/ 768MB RAM, the developers have moved on to better things, for the most part.

That and point really at Google for.this messed up veal they allow which is so stupid. We need to stop overlays on android and have the same user experence as any other device a unified way. On touch six.you select wick widget it brings up any available wick if one is not already selected on sense and stock that does not happen. Not a great user way here.

No worries. ICS is no JB that's for sure, and truth be told ALL the awesome options available to the Blaze should be tried out! That's the great thing about having such options - you can start choosing based on preferences as opposed to basic functionality. I'm a smali hack at best - I would consider the other tinkerers for the Blaze to be far more qualified of a "developer" title than I really - so folks should really make sure to test the various waters as you never know what you might be missing!

Theirs nothing wrong with the ROM. I just haven't seen anything so far that makes this phone noticeably better than the mytouch 4g which is what I switched from

Well single core to dual core, NFC, slightly larger screen, 4g 42mbps, larger capacity battery, and adreno 220 are things that I would consider better. At my dad's house near Minneapolis I can pull 20+mpbs on 4g...
But at the end of the day, you still are running android and that's not going to change much... and if you liked sense than you will likely not like TW. No guarantee that you also wouldn't like aosp either (my wife doesn't - she prefers sense). My wife has a sensation 4g and I see a major difference between her phone and my blaze. I prefer the blaze, because of those features listed (and access to the sd card without having to dissemble the phone to get to it) and I prefer TW (using TW5 launcher) to any sense rom. Sense just seems bloated to me and the Blaze just seems to be more responsive.
But hey, they're just phones and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and can like whatever they choose to like

I'm actually running CM7 on my Mytouch 4G. I agree with you on sense feeling bloated. As far as the screen size, when I put the phones next to each other you really can't notice an increase in size.
